Colors Bleeding on my 5th Gen iPod

The LCD display isn't broken, but the colors are bleeding whether it be album art for if I'm watching videos.
I've already reset it 3 times, and I'm still having the problem.
What Should I Do?

Hi,
If it is still under the warranty, send it for repairing, likely you will get the reburishment.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger tha about 1 1/2 usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:
How do I get rid of "other" storage: Apple Support Communities
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • 5th Gen. iPod overall performance

    I need opinions on this:
while playing a song, if I start skipping songs, eventually I hit about a 5+ second lag before it even loads the text for the selected song. I wouldn't have thought this was weird except for the fact that, on a 20GB iPod (color screen), the song selecting seemed much more instantanious with only a 2 or so second lag before loading the new song. This seems to be the case with browsing the photo library as well.
Is this abnormal behavior for my 5th Gen. iPod with just over 16GB of data on it? I didn't check how much space was being used on the 20GB iPod, but does this sound abnormal at all? Should it be performing faster, or is this all relative to how much of the hard drive is being used?

Hacking or modding any iPod goes against Apple's policies for proper use, hence it is not permitted, as per the Terms of Use, to discuss such things on Apple Discussions.
I would suggest visiting some other iPod forums (ilounge.com perhaps) to discuss this.
You're more likely to get a reply if you post there.

  • 5th Gen iPod & Prev Gen iPod

I have an iPod that I bought in Sept. 2004. It still works and I love it. It's still the black/white screen version, and no video capability of course.
My friend just got a 5th Gen iPod with video, color screen, etc. It's great too.
We were wondering if we could synch our iPod together via her laptop, or if this were to cause a problem. Do I need to configure my iPod in any way? I have v6.0 iTunes running on my computer and my iPod is synched to my computer very easily. I have downloaded a few eps of Lost, and my iPod has obviously not downloaded those. We just wanted to make sure that we won't have any problems if we do do this.
    Thanks.
    iPod   Windows XP

    Melxb,
So you want to copy the songs that are on your iPod, onto her iPod, and vice versa?
Unless you own the CDs that are on her iPod, and she owns the CDs that are on your iPod, what you're trying to do is illegal.
You won't get much help on this forum for this (which amounts to stealing music).
If that isn't the case, my apologies.

  • TS3989 My 5th gen ipod touch was stolen.  I removed the device from my iTunes account, but their pictures still show up on the photostream on the one I purchased to replace it.  How do I get this to stop, the cops have no interest in their faces, nor do I

My 5th gen iPod touh was stolen a month ago.  I immediately removed that device from my account and yet today I looked at my photostream and there are tons of pics of these people on my photostream.  How do I get this to stop?!?

Change your iCloud ID password: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624.  After doing so, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new password.

  • 5th Gen iPod, seen by Windoze, not by iTunes

I've been too busy lately to hang out keep up with the iTunes 7 issues, but I still have to stop the iPod service, attach my iPod, start iTunes/start the service every time I want to sync. Is there any hope that this is a temporary condition or is this just how it's gonna be from now on? iTunes 7, 5th Gen iPod w/1.2 software, XP Pro SP2.
    TIA for your comments/help.

Wow, 10 days and not a single reply. Guess I'm not the only one too dumb to figure out what's wrong with iTunes.

  • 5th gen iPod Touch crashes spontaneously

    Hi there
My 5th Gen iPod Touch crashes at random times, usually when on wifi.  When it does this, it resets my clock by ten or twenty or thirty minutes and I have to fix the time because it does not automatically restore via the Internet.  I tried restoring my iPod, both at home and at the Apple Store, but when the person helping me ran a diagnostic on it I was told nothing came up.  My diagnostic data was still on the iPod and I had three kernel panic reports and about eight reset counter reports, so I'm not sure why I was told that.  I've seen a similar thread on here saying it was probably the battery, so I thought that was the problem, but I've just been told otherwise.  I don't know what to do because last night I plugged in my iPod and left the room, then came back to find the screen cracked (I'm guessing having to do with the battery).  No one else was in the room and I didn't drop it.  Because I don't know how to reproduce the problem, I'm having a hard time proving it exists regardless of diagnostic data, and now it looks like I dropped it and that damaged the device, when that is honestly not the case.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hello
No, I did not restore from backup.  I restored to factory settings at the Apple Store and when I got home and tried to set up my email, my iPod restarted again.  The time reset to ten minutes previous.
I'm mentioning the crash reports because they all correspond to the times my iPod restarted.  It has crashed four times in the last hour and all I've done is download two apps (Podcasts and Skype) and added my email accounts.
    Thanks very much.

  • I have a 5th gen iPod Touch. I have made playlists in iTunes. I need to get them to the iPod. When I had a Classic, it was automatic. You could drag and drop using iTunes music to the playlist in iTunes and it would automatically sync to the Classic.

I have a 5th gen iPoc Touch. In the past, with the Classic, I could drag and drop from my iTunes music to a Classic playlist through iTunes. Now, the playlist I create in iTunes doesn't show on the Touch. I have maybe 29 GB of music on my Touch. I have already created playlists in iTunes that have substantial amounts of songs in each. How can I get those playlists on the Touch without doing a total sync that wipes the iPod? Is there a way to do it?
As well, I am noticing here that my 5th gen iPod doesn't show as a registered device. How do I register it?

    For how to sync see:

  • 5th gen. ipod not recognized by Mac

My 5th generation 30 gb ipod is no longer recognized by my Mac running 10.3.9 and iTunes 7. I've tried all of the standard troubleshooting except for restore since it can't be recognized to be restored. When it's plugged into the computer, it's charging with an animated icon but the ipod never shows up on the desktop or in iTunes. Help!
    5th gen ipod   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.

  • 5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1

On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
    Some salient facts:
         1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
         2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
         3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I did try all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions.  It was the cable - Thanks for the tip!
It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates.

  • 5th gen iPod Classic not recognized

Hi, I have a 5th gen iPod classic 30GB that my friend gave to me a few months ago. It was recognized on my computer and itunes at the start and I was able to sync and perform all the needed tasks. I recently had to reformat my computer and now the ipod isn't recognized by USB, or in itunes. The Device manager for Windows XP SP3 says "Unknown Device" and that the drivers for the device are missing. I've tried installing older itunes verions, searching for drivers myself, used 3 different Apple USB cables, restarting the ipod with the center + menu buttons, and checked the format (windows). I also have a 2nd gen ipod nano which is recognized with no trouble. All the tests on the classic, with the exception of firewire, passed and the hard drive works fine. The classic also isn't recognized on 2 other Windows 7 computers. If I try to put the ipod in disk mode, it just says "ok to disconnect" without giving me any other options. Also, the ipod charges on both wall USB and the computers USB. I have also tried all 6 USB ports. I've searched the web for days and have tried everything I could find to fix this, to no avail though. If anyone knows anything and can help, please post whatever you think will work. Thank you!

When you plug in the iPod does it even appear in Device Manager?  See this article for more details.

Otherwise, I have a feeling that the USB ports on the Netbook don't output enough power to allow the iPod to fully communiate properly with the Windows Vista O/S.

  • 5th gen Ipod not recognized and not charging on any computer.

    Hello
I have a 5th gen Ipod with an odd issue. I have an Ihome radio with Ipod dock in which my Ipod charges and plays everthing just fine. I usually just keep it there to charge and only hook up to my computer if I want to buy something or put other music on it. I tried syncing the other day and nothing happened, would not sync, charge, my computer would not even recognize it. I have tried 2 differnt cables, reset, have tried it with itunes started and not running on my vista computer and have also tried just to charge on a computer with XP that doesnt have Itunes installed. My daughter has in Ipod Touch that works just fine with both my cables and computers.
Any ideas of whats wrong with my 5th gen?
    Thanks

Try restarting your computer with your ipod plugged in. You might also try using a different USB port. If all else fails downgrade to itunes 6 here http://www.apple.com/support/

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.
