Colors in PNG image go crazy when imported into Illustrator

When I import certain PNGs into Illustrator CC, they look like this...
I've tried reinstalling the program and changing the document from CMYK to RGB. Not sure what else to try.

Any warnings about the color profile when importing the image?
What happens when you open it in Photoshop and then resave it as a TIF or PSD before importing in Illustrator?

  • RAW images are "locked"when imported into LR

I just got a new camera (Sony alpha 6000) and all my RAW images that I attempt to import into LR 4.4 are "locked" and therefore, cannot be imported.
When I click on the photo in my HD file and look at the "Get Info" the photo is not "locked".
Can't find any setting on my camera that shows the photo as "locked".  Anyone know if this is a LR problem or a Sony problem?
I have a Nikon D40 that has no problem uploading RAW images to my LR 4.4.
    Thanks for any help!!

Sony Alpha 6000 raw files require at least Lightroom 5.4.
You would need to upgrade Lightroom, or use the free Adobe DNG converter version 8.6 to convert your RAWs to DNG and then import those into Lightroom.

  • Original image automatically altered when importing into iPhoto

When importing photos from a CD into iPhoto (by first saving them to desktop then dragging them in to iPhoto), they are being automatically altered by iPhoto. They appear in their original form on the desktop, but when I drag them into iPhoto, it seems to be doing some auto-enhancing (in this case not for the better). May be missing something simple, but have not had this problem w/ importing photos from a CD before. Any ideas?

iPhoto works best with an sRGB colour profile. From your description of the symptoms you have a different colour profile.
Why is this important? Because the colour profile tells the computer how to display the colours. It tells it, in other words, what this file means by 'red' or 'blue'.
Try attach an sRGB profile to one or two of the pics and import them. See does it help. You can do this using the Tools menu in Preview.

  • My vector (flattened) images are pixellated when imported in Illustrator. How do I fix this?

    Hello.
I am experiencing an issue in Adobe Illustrator.
When attempting to import picture files in Illustrator from PhotoShop, the image appears blurred/pixellated. The image (a .psd file) is converted in Illustrator to a .ai file. I create vector (flattened) images in PhotoShop, which should maintain their picture clarity and quality regardless of what program the vectored image is opened with. Somehow, they are becoming pixellated when converted to .ai files in Illustrator.
I use both Adobe CS6 and Adobe Creative Cloud
Is there a setting or solution that I can implement to rectify this issue?
Many thanks in advance for everyone's input and assistance.

    Hello, Doug and John.
Thank you for your replies and for providing feedback.
I am aware that vector format files are only for illustrator. However, I believe you can make a smart object in photoshop using the vector art and it will keep its vector file format in photoshop allowing it to not pixelate.
I would be more interested in seeing if uninstalling and reinstalling the programs would have anything to do with it and also trying to find the settings. Would anyone happen to know if this will resolve the issue? I am hoping this is correct forum in which to post this topic/issue.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Images lose quality when imported into Pages

    Hi,
when I import images into Pages, they lose quality. They are normal jpg files.
After the import they look a bit fuzzy. I dunno why...
    thanks

In the Inspector "Measures" there is a button allowing us to reset to the original size.
Of course, the picture will be smaller than the blurred one
    or
will be too large and parts will be hidden.

  • Help! Photoshop edited jpg color distorts when imported into Muse

Okay, so I am trying to build a photography webpage (among others) and I edit most of my photos in photoshop. All photos that I edit in photoshop and save to jpg, look great when printed, uploaded to facebook, etc. however when I import them into Adobe Muse for and put them on my webpage, the colors of the photos become desaturated and/or slightly distorted (so that they look dull). When I edit images in lightroom and save them as jpg and import them into Muse, they look fine, but colors edited in photoshop seem to mess up my photos when imported into Muse.
    What am I doing wrong?!
    Susan

You are using some odd color management settings and not converting to sRGB most likely... Check your settings in PS itself and the Save for Web dialog and experiment around.

  • My Images won't open in Photoshop CS5 when I click on Edit in Lightroom - even though this option has been selected?  To edit in Photoshop I have to export image from Lightroom then import into Photoshop.  I have other programmes such as NIK and if I wish

My Images won't open in Photoshop CS5 when I click on Edit in Lightroom - even though this option has been selected?  To edit in Photoshop I have to export image from Lightroom then import into Photoshop.  I have other programmes such as NIK and if I wish to edit in these everything works fine.

Same here. I've never had trouble with this function before.
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky. I tried dumping PS preferences

My problem is after i have saved my move, banner - when imported into dreamweaver it puts all the slices out of whack ?
I cant find anywhere to import it into my photoshop layout, can't "Bring to front" in dream weaver <- ? :/
I have searched everywhere and I can't find with my terms what im looking for..I figure if nothing is coming up then im going about this
    the wrong way
Any help would be muchly appreciated.

    Hi
Slicing images from a photoshop comp and then creating a web page from them is never a good idea, and will present many compatibility problems for you. A better alternative is to use css based layouts, this does not mean that you must forget what you have done in photoshop just that the procedure is probably slightly more complex for someone who has not used css layouts before,
A good place to start would be the css basics tutorial then the, using css starter pages tutorial from the tutorials shown on this page - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/css.html.
    (the 2 tutorials mentioned are - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/table_to_css_pt1.html, and http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/table_to_css_pt2.html.

  • What happens to CC or Watermarks when imported into PrPro

    HI all,
my question (s) are about information that is stored in the out of tv safety feilds when imported into Adobe premeir pro. files will be mpeg-2 video files SD and Hd
    1) what happens to closed Captioning data (does it get moved or is it stripped)?
    2) what happens to Nielsen watermarks on line 22 and 20?
Can anybody give me an understanding of this.
    thank you much!!

Nothing happens to the music on your computer. Nothing will "combine" unless this other person actually downloads something to your computer. Simply logging into an iTunes account does not instigate any automatic downloads of anything.

  • How do I get audio back on single clip that loses audio when imported into Premiere Pro CC?

I've got one clip out of many that for some reason won't play any audio when imported into Premiere Pro.  I am new to Premiere Pro so am hoping it's something stupid I've done, but this is a problem with just a single clip exported the same way as all my others, the original audio is loud (not quiet) and none of the FAQ issues seem to apply (ie I haven't muted the audio or anything stupid like that)
The clip was exported from Plural Eyes into a "master" Premiere Pro project where the audio is fine. I exported it as a short MP4 clip and if I play the clip in Windows Media Player the audio is there loud and clear.
But when I import the clip into a fresh Preimiere Pro CC project this clip appears with just the "film strip" icon on the far left in the Timeline panel, unlike other clips which have an icon that shows "film strip" in the background and "audio wave" in the foreground.
I'm hitting so many glitches with the CC editions of Premiere Pro and After Effects which have annoying inconsistencies between them I'm tempted to just go back to Sony Vegas Pro (single program, no hassle) but hoping most of these issues are down to "newbie incompetence". Very hard to understand why this one clip out of many should be giving me this specific problem though. Any ideas?

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

  • Imported ID pdfs appearance alters when imported into Quark as picture

Can anyone tell me why Indesign created pdf's change when imported into a quark picture box? I receive ads from various companies for a magazine in hi-rez pdf formats and when imported the appearance changes to include all the components/elements/boxes/etc. of the make-up of the ad....the things that are not supposed to be seen. Please help... advertisers are complaining and i can not stop it, or fix it.

Quark converts PDFs to EPS internally and thus has no support for the
more advanced features of PDFs exported from InDesign.
You should request EPS or PDF X/1-a if you want to continue to use
Quark. That said, this is an InDesign forum so I will heartily recommend
    you switch to InDesign.
As you've discovered more and more folks are doing just that and you're
going to be left in the dust and those advertisers are going to be
looking elsewhere to spend their money.

  • After Effects Crops layer size when importing from Illustrator file

I don't know if this was reported before, but when importing an Illustrator CS3 file with multiple layers as a cropped composition, some of the paths/objects get cropped horizontally - and the cropping is not even on both sides either (not that it makes any better or worse)- it is more cropped on the left side.
I really would love an answer to this because I work mostly in that fashion, and it will be a pain if I lose this feature.
    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

Yes, I made sure of that.
In this specific case every other layer got cropped, independent of the size of the path, for example - in one layer I have the background that did not get clipped, the next has an oval (smaller than the first) - that got cropped; next some text - not cropped following that a cloud shape get's cropped and so on.
Right now I do not have time for doing some tests, but I'll do as soon as possible.
This has been my favourite workflow for client logo animation and I have been craving for new features in this feature such as sub layers becoming pre-comps etc.

  • Article - creating complimentary colour groups / colour matching images imported into Illustrator?

    greetings all.
i have a number of pictures that i have imported into illustrator.
some are live traced vector images
    some are bitmaps from photoshop
here is my question. i want to take an image and create a swatch from the range of colours expressed in the image. alternatively i'd like a workflow that allows me to match complimentary colours to what is already there.
i am pretty sure that it can be done via a live trace but often it doesnt give me all the colours i would like to use?
are there any other ways in illustrator, 3 rd party programs or other recommendations that you recommend?
    thank you kindly

  • How do I correct the darkest blacks from becoming bright blue when imported into LR?

When shooting in RAW with a Sony RX100M3 the darkest blacks become bright blue when imported into LR. Any ideas when this happens and how I can fix it?

If this is occurring in the develop module the you have the shadow warning turned on and this shows as blue, just like the highlights show as red. You can turn this off by clicking the triangle in the upper left hand corner of the histogram.

  • Can I import into Illustrator and modify a drawing in Appleworks?

Can I import into Illustrator and modify a drawing in Appleworks?

Depending on the detail/complexity/accuracy of the graphics,  you will not likely find back-and-forth wokflows between PostScript-compatible drawing programs (Illustrator, FreeHand, Canvas, Draw, Xara) and OS-meta format (QuickDraw, Quartz, WMF, EMF) based programs ("Works" or "Office" applications) very satisfying.
You encounter instance-specific caveats stemming from two basic issues:
PostScript compatible drawing programs use cubic Bezier curves; two curve handles per path segment. "Works" or "Office" type drawing modules typically use simpler quadratic Bezier curves; one handle per path segment. So going back and forth between involves geometric translations and re-translations which wreck the practicality of editng the paths. PostScript drawing programs use cubic curves for good reason: more shape control with fewer anchors.
The OS-specific meta formats are really not designed for the device-independent resolution fidelity of commercial print. Resolution in vector drawing? Yes. Vector paths are essentially mathematical formulae for *plotting* curves onto a raster grid. (Everything is eventually rasterized; the practical difference between raster and vector graphics is a matter of when.)
So it's a matter of accuracy; the "fineness" of the theoretical grids the curve-handling format/application is designed to plot upon . Meta formats are more about drawing an acceptable shape onscreen, and you can kind of think of what gets sent to a dumb printing device (one without a PostScript "brain") as a glorified enlarged screenshot. The path objects you draw in a PostScript compatible program that have smooth curves that scale well both upward and downward often translate to meta formats as paths with ugly flats or extra kinks that become apparent when scaled. These caveats are unpredictable and tedious to correct. The bother ends up outweighing the advantages you are seeking.
In a nutshell, that's why Illustrator's effective "recommendation" for exporting to Office applicaitons (Save For Office...) is the lowest-common-denominator approach of defaulting to a common raster format (PNG), even though Windows does have a vector-based format (EMF) which Illustrator can export to.
If what you're trying to do is just a one-way trip from some legacy AppleWorks drawings to Illustrator, you'll need an intermediary translation from .awk to something Illustrator can import. You may be able to find an open-source software for doing that.
