Colors not displaying when viewing PDF files

Recently I've discovered that when viewing PDF files I'm not seeing all of the colors in the charts. This is happening with PDF files that I made as recently as last year (when everything looked fine). It's also happening with files that other people at other organizations have made. If I go to a coworkers computer and pull up the files, I can see everything just fine. Also, when I print the files, everything comes out just fine. Any ideas as to why I'm not seeing things correctly on my machine? I'm using a Dell laptop, Windows 7, Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, Microsoft Word 2010. I've also been having problems with graphics disappearing when converting Word files to PDF files but that's a topic I'll post on the Acrobat page. Seems like it may all be related to my new laptop. Thanks.
Attaching an image of what I see when I view the PDF file and a screen shot of the Word file with the color in which does print even though I can't see it. I can see some of the colors in the PDF file but not all of them.

Hi,
The problem with ie9 or ie8 gets more complicated, since the alt key works on some files, one example is:
http://www.instrulog.dk/download/manualer/humanware/focus-14-manual
The files where it does not work are placed on sites that require sign in with a digital signature, so it is impossible to give urls to  the files.
With screen readers and with pdf files in the browser, the normal way of getting to the
address bar does not work, but that is not really a problem but a minor irritation, and not a new behavior.

  • Safari & Firefox behaving badly when viewing pdf files

Since upgrading my Mac to Lion, Safari and Firefox have not displayed pdf files for viewing.
SAFARI:  When I click a pdf link in Safari, a dark grey blank page appears. When I try to save the pdf file to my desktop, an error message says the file is not properly formatted.
FIREFOX: When I click a pdf link in Firefox, a white blank page appears. I can successfully save the file to my desktop, and in turn open the file using Acrobat.
CHROME: Everything works normally...no problems found when viewing pdf files.
I tried dumping the plist file for both Safari and Firefox, and resetting both browsers clearing them of cache, etc., but none of that worked.
Has anyone else seen similar behavior? Anyone have a solution?
I have posted this problem twice in Apple's Safari Forum, but have had no response in almost two months.
    Thanks

In Safari you to have the Acrobat PDFviewer plugin installed, or the The PDFBrowser plugin by Schubert of Germany Installed.
If you use the PDFBrowser Plugin you need the 2.4.2 version in order to work with the version 5.1 of Safari and 2.2.3 version for Safari 5.05 and lower.
In FireFox  version 3.6.X and lower you need version of the PDFBrowser Plugin version 2.2.3 which also works with Safari 5.05 and lower. And version 2.4.2 for Safari 5.1 and above and FF 4.0 and above, and Seamonkey version 2.3 and above.
THE ADOBE PDFVIEWER PLUGIN has only worked with OSX for Safari. Adobe quit supporting any other browsers on the Macintosh with the roll out of OSX years ago except for Safari. And despite repeated request by many users, its gone on deaf ears.
As a result This Schubert fellow from Germany has had to fill the void. It works on "any" browser on the Market for Mac. And works for any browser for Windows except Internet Explorer.
The only thing it doesn't do is online forms which the Acrobat Plugin will. But since it only works with Safari its Useless. I'm not going to Crank up Safari just to fill in Forms.
Oh, you use to be able to install both plugins and would work fine. Now if both are installed neither works. Its either use the one that works on one Web Browser and allows form filling.
Or use the one that works on everything, but can't do forms. Oh Schubert on his Web site explains his is forbidden from installing support for forms.

  • TA21328 Safari will not display or open PDF files. Unable to view imovies

I resently had a new hard drive installed by the Apple store and they installed Snow Lepard which was my provious OS. I did restore all my files using My Passport Studio and everything what fine except for two things.  I cannot open PDF files through Safari and I am not able to view any of my imovies.

If you have them, you might want to delete either or both of the below mentioned files from the following location “/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/” and install Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat again. Reader and Acrobat have preference items for whether to use them to manage PDFs in Safari.
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
Do you have some iMovie project files in iMovie Events and iMovie Projects in your Home folder's Movies folder? Those might be where your "imovies" are. If you did have some, but don't now, then they may be the items you need to restore from a backup. Other than that, I'm not sure what you mean by "imovies", so can you include the steps you take to view "imovies" in a reply, please? Thanks.

  • Scroll lag when viewing PDF files

    Hey everyone.
I've searched all over the internet for an answer to this question, but it seems every answer is "your computer can't handle large files". I recently had my hard drive crash a few weeks ago (I use a 2008 MacBook) and I bought a new SSD. On my old hard drive, my scrolling was fine in Adobe Reader. It was very smooth and almost zero lag for any size file. Now, no matter what size file there is always this choppiness and lag when I scroll. However, I use LaTeX for my math work, and when I run my code the PDF's view very smoothly, like it did on my old hard drive. I'm not sure what my settings were on Adobe Reader before my computer crashed, but I've looked at all the preference settings and nothing seems related to my issue. I have this problem when viewing in Safari and outside Safari. It can't be performance related because I have more free space on my SSD now, and I upgraded my RAM from 2GB to 4GB when my HDD crashed. I've tried using Adobe Reader X and XI, but they give the same results. Can anyone help with the issue?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • My iPad2 does not display greens in pdf files correctly.

The green areas of photos in some pdf files are displayed as magenta.  Some other areas in the same photos are also displayed incorrectly; light greys are almost black. Exactly the same thing happens when the same files are displayed on my iPhone4.  But, the same files display correctly on my iMac.
There is also a strong magenta cast in the green areas in jpg files displayed on the iPad2 (same on iPhone4) but, when the same files are displayed on my iMac, the colours are correct.
Looks very like a bug in iOS.
    Any ideas?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Security
and check the box marked Allow other plug-ins.

  • Photo albums not displayed when viewing my website

I have a website for my band www.lastarrow.combut the photos page isn't displaying properly.
    It should look like this:
    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i27/eastwoodandy/Picture5.png
But it is displaying like this:
    http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i27/eastwoodandy/Picture7.png
The page was fine a couple of weeks ago, the only recent change is that I've had to remove the domain name from mobileme (because I now have two websites & domain names) and just have www.lastarrow.com redirect to http://web.me.com/andywoodhouse/Last_Arrow/Home.html
The direct link to the photos page is http://web.me.com/andywoodhouse/Last_Arrow/Photos/Photos.html
Can anyone offer any help on this?
I tried changing some of the attributes of the photos page (changing the photo album borders) and republished but they are still not displaying.
I have also done a test by publishing to folder and opening it in a browser and it works perfectly fine.

    Andy:
Try using the File->*Publish All to MobileMe* menu option to republish your site. See if that will work. I see you're at the latest iWeb version, 2.0.4, so that's not a factor.

  • Color is off when viewing pdfs in reader

I created a pdf of some 4 color art for a client.
When other people in my department viewed it on their monitors, the color was muted and not true.
Can anyone suggest why this may be??
My curiosity is that maybe their monitors are not as claibrated, or set to a different color space..??
I did go in and check that overprint preview was unchecked to make sure this was not one of the offending causes.
    Any suggestions??
    Julian

    Is your monitor calibrated?
Certainly on any uncalibrated monitor the colors are wildly
    unpredictable.

  • Buttons not working when viewing .pdf on tablet...

I created a .pdf to view on a tablet. My links are working, but the buttons I created are not.
For example, Button 1 is supposed to take the user back to page 1, but touching the button does nothing.
    Help!
    Thanks!

If you're using the free Adobe Reader, it currently doesn't support buttons.
You need to get a paid 3rd party PDF reader. PDF Expert should work for you.

  • Adobe Reader XI - Force menu to display when viewing PDF

    Hello,
We run adobe reader XI in a citrix xenapp deployment.  With older versions of adobe, users would open a PDF and the top menu bar would be displayed which would allow them to print fairly easily.
With the newer XI version, that menu does not show up unless you press F8.  So users are forced to either press F8 to bring up the menu, or right click within the document and select print that way.
Is there a preferences setting, or a registry key change that could be made to force this menu to come up every time?  I took a look around and didn't notice anything that stood out.
    Thanks for any assistance.

We ended up finding a registry key which forces this menu to come up each time:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\AVGeneral]
    “bBrowserDisplayInReadMode”=dword:00000000

  • Legend color not displayed when using custom theme

    Hi all,
We are facing a strange issue in the MSS team calender chart's legend colors. The first legend item's color appear blank/white in a custom portal theme while the color appear properly on the standard theme. Inside the chart, the color is appearing properly.
What could be the issue? which property in the theme is connected to the legend?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Syam.

    Hi Sidharth,
We have not done any modifications to the standard service. Also, If this is the reason, why should it appear for some users and why not for others? For those users using the standard theme, the legend colors are appearing properly.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shyam.
