  • Colors are displayed not correct

    Hi!
    I use lightroom 3.4.1 on Windows Vista 64bit with a Iiyama PRO LITE E2407 HDS monitor and a ATI Raedon HD3600. The colors of some images that I imported from my Canon EOS 500d into lightroom are "strange".
    If I display the same image with another program, e.g. XNVIEW or windows-live-photo-gallery the colors looks totally different. You can see the differece here:
    (http://wipux2.wifo.uni-mannheim.de/~kesnw/download/HPB/Farbwiedergabe_Lightroom_vs_XNView. PNG - larger)
    The ugly colors appear on both, RAW images and JPG images.
    Where can I influence the colors?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    "The default in Lightroom is ProPhoto RGB color space."
    You can set the choice of color space that's passed to CS5 in Edit menu, Preferences, External editing. That can be anything you want. So I'm assuming you've set ProPhoto RGB.You’re the expert here.  I just installed the product and the default was ProPhoto RGB.  I was just expressing my experience with the default install
    "Right click a file and select "Edit In" CS5."
    So LR passes the file to CS5 in ProPhoto, if you've set that in the preferences
    Once again I just installed Lihtroom with defaults.  Unless a user is made aware of the ramifications of default settings they will not necessarily discover it on their own
    "Do all your edits in CS5 and then "Save As" JPG."
    If you don't alter the colour space in CS5 (Edit menu, Convert to Profile...) then it will still be in ProPhoto, so that's how it will be saved in CS5. So this is not clearly described when using both products.
    "Use a broswer or any other 3rd party viewer and you will see the colors are washed out."
    Only if your browser color management isn't working. Either you don't have appropriate profile for the monitor, or you're not using a colour-managed program to display the image, in which case the colours look very washed out. If you have a calibrated and profiled monitor, and use a colour-managed program to view the image, then it doesn't matter what is the colour space of the image, colour management will sort it out and it will display correctly. The assumption is that JPG will be used on color profiled display is not consistent with the default save options.  Why would a “save as” color space be deferent from the export to JPG file?  They are both sRBG files and not consistent or clear to the end-user.
    "In CS5 use the "File/Save for Web & Devices" and save a JPG version the colors are more accurate in the JPG"
    Yep, because save-for-web converts to sRGB. Normal monitors are approximately sRGB, so even if colour management isn't working (no monitor profile, or using unmanaged software) then when you display an sRGB image on a normal monitor, colours will be approximately (though not necessarily exactly) right.    Yes.  So the “Save As” option does state sRGB and does not distinguish any color spaces or differences in the menu.  So until you post or email the files, a user will ot see the effects of the settings.  Have you tried this?
    "If you then change the default in Lightroom to sRGB and run through the same sequence you get a better color match in the (step 2) “File/Save As” JPG."
    Again, I assume you mean changing the Edit menu, Preferences, External Editing and change the colour space used with CS5. If you set that to sRGB then, without having to do a conversion in CS5, the image is already sRGB, so if you save it then it will still be in sRGB, and it will display correctly on a monitor without a profile or using unmanaged software. Yes, but the “Save As” does not distinguish between sRGB or ProPhoto.  For example if I used a 3rd party asset management product to export the file to CS5 and used “Save As” in CS5 it would create a JPG file viewable in a unmanaged monitor/software/display more accurately.  I have been a long time Photoshop user, but new to LR.  These issues or lack of understanding on my part only occurred after I installed LR 3.  I'm assuming Adobe would like to have both LR and CS5 to work seamlessly together or is that a bad assumption?

  • Color mis-display in IE 7

    Hi to match my clients logo I have used a lot of the color
    #A59689 (light brown) looks fine in safari and firefox mac but IE7
    and firefox PC the color is displaying as grey (both the images
    that contain that color and the css placed #A59689)
    see: www.joltconsulting.com.au
    Is there away to fix this? I can't seem to see a color close
    to this in the "websafe" range but I have seen many websites that
    use similar colors seemingly successfully.

    Only if you're still in 1999. Websafe colors are completely
    obsolete. It's
    been more than a decade since the last 8-bit color graphics
    card was
    produced. So, it's not a monitor issue at all.

  • Color not displaying correctly

    ive recently noticed that my colors arent displaying correctly ive already deleted the Illustrator settings folder to reset all preferences to default but the color problem is still happening i have my color ooptions this way
    im using adobe illustrator cs5
    Color to CMYK
    Color Guide: Show Tins/Shades
    this is what i mean im trying to get the color i see in the color picker

    The Color Picker is unreliable for choosing colors based on what you see because it is not color managed while Color panel and Swatches are.
    In your image, the color that you see in the Color Picker is how your monitor displays R=0 G=255 B=0. The color that you see in the Color Panel represents the same values in the file but the color management sends different values to the video card and thus to the monitor to display a color with appearance in the color space selected for the document. In your image this is a CMYK color space which you can check from the Show popup menu at the bottom left of the document window. To check the different values the video card is using, make a screen capture, save the image, open it in Illustrator and measure the color with the eyedropper. The color translation from the values in the file to the video card allows simulation of color spaces other than your monitor's. This simulation is accurate if you have a monitor profile installed in your system that correctly describes how your monitor displays colors. Such profile is created by using a color measuring device and profiling software. If your monitor profile (color space) installed in the system is the same as the color space of the document then there will be no translation (simulation) which in effects shuts down the color management - then the colors in the Color Picker will be the same as in the document. Many people do not bother to get an accurate profile of their monitor and use a generic sRGB profile for that. In such case working in RGB color mode using the sRGB color space (default in the Color Settings) will give the same colors in the Color Picker and the document. This usually is a sign of using a monitor that incorrectly displays colors.

  • Color graphics display, on PSC 2400 part #H100632782 is bad.

    Color graphics display port number H100632782 is bad. This is on HP PSC 2400 photosmart series all–in-one. The display over a period of time just faded away. The chassis number is CA02124640-0001  model 5610.  I have found another part  number  that may work in its place it is 7Rh100680782.  All these suppliers that I checked,no longer have the part available. I am running this printer from a  MacBookPro.  The software is Mac OSX version 10.7.5. All help is greatly appreciated.

  • Default Color Pallete display

    In CS3, I have my Pantone Spot color palette displaying when I open Illustrator. The problem is that is always defaults to swatches and I want it to display as a list. So without having to go to the palette options to change to a list view every single time, is there a way to display the list view as the default view?
    Thanks, Jim

    The following fix was posted by Robert Cabuto in Dec. '08.
    It involves hacking the preference file, not manipulating the panels:
    To change list view, QUIT ILLUSTRATOR, the locate the following file:
    # user*/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings/Workspaces/AIWSPrefs* (*or custom workspace name)
    Open file with TextEdit
    Look for the following section
    /AdobeSwatch_\ ShowFindField 0
    /AdobeSwatch_\ CurrentListStyle 15
    /AdobeSwatch_\ GroupsListStyle 15
    /AdobeSwatch_\ PatternListStyle 15
    /AdobeSwatch_\ GradientListStyle 15
    /AdobeSwatch_\ ColorListStyle 18
    /AdobeSwatch_\ ShowAllListStyle 18
    /AdobeSwatch_\ VisibleKind 1
    /AdobeSwatch_\ Visible 1
    /AdobeSwatch_\ SizeUncnstr {
    Change the last numbers from 15 to 18 after ColorListStyle and ShowAllListStyle
    change the last numbers from 0 to 1 after VisibleKind and Visible
    Save file.
    That works for me although I'm not sure if I changed too many values.

  • IPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is warmer, or yellow-tinted

    All greetings!
    My new iPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is much warmer, or yellow-tinted compared to the my iPhone 3G.
    It is a defect of my iPhone 3Gs?
    Here you can see it: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2415/2660565874_ef8a841a20.jpg

    I recently bought a 3Gs and compared to my old 3G there's a hug difference! my 3Gs looks really yellow! I went to Apple store at the florida mall to verify if this was normal, brought my old 3G with me so they could notice the difference,so I made the appointment and when the so called "apple genius" saw my phone he noticed the difference and took my phone to change it to the back of the store, he came back in 3 minutes claiming that he changed my phone,when I looked at it,same yellow display I said to the guy that the display looks the same but he never gave me any other option, on my way out from the store i checked the info on the phone but it was the same IMEI as the one in the box, how could this be? if they supposedly change the phone, I asked to speak to a manager and explained to her my situation, the "genius" that "helped me" told the manager that what he did was only changing the display and since I didn't like it,he went back and put back again the display that came with the phone... at this point I got really upset and I asked the manager to speak to the "genius" and asked why he lied about the situation, the manager said that she would bring the guy so we could settle this situation,they left me waiting on the store 45 minutes and none of them showed up... Great Apple store service... Yeah right!! F#$%^ them!

  • Background Color When Displaying Playlists

  • Shape colors not displaying properly: reds look orange

    I'll keep this short: I created a red rectangle, but it shows up as orange. You can see in the screenshot the difference between the color in the color picker and layers pain versus the color in the main viewer. This orange color carries through to FCPX, although the thumbnail always displays the correct shade of red. Help? Thank you.

    Thanks for the reply. The issue is the same regardless of whether I go through the inspector or the system color picker. I have also since found that the same problem occurs within FCP X for anything I try to make red—text, backgrounds, whatever (other colors seem to display fine). However, I also discovered that when I export, the red displays properly in the exported video. Since I know the hex value for the red I need, this is no longer an issue for me since I don't really need the color to display right until the final product. Still, it would be nice to understand what's going on here.
    The computer I'm on is a work computer, a 2010 27" iMac, but all software is up to date. I have a newer iMac at home so I'll check that to see if I can replicate the problem.

  • Monitor calibration and color eyes display pro

    Hi trying to calibrate a 27 inch imac for photos. If I use the color eyes display pro with calibration it hijacks the video card. Will this make my computer out of apple care warranty? Thanks. Any other calibrators that work? Color munki?

    Apparently photoshop is applying additional color correction on top of
    what the monitor calibration software has already done. Is this
    necessary? If this step is necessary, then why doesn't the monitor
    calibration software do that, so that photoshop doesn't have to,
    Photoshop doesn't apply any color correction to the images per se, it just operates in a selected color space, and takes into account your monitor profile.
    The monitor calibration tells your video card - or the monitor itself for some high end monitors, how it should be set to meet chosen targets, and generates a profile for the monitor.
    1. Caibrate your monitor and generate a profile
    2. Tell your OS that that it your monitor profile
    3. Set Photoshop to work in the space of your choice - sRGB, Adobe RGB, or ProPhoto 99% of the time
    That takes you to a state where everything is in order more or less. If at this point your images look out of whack, it's almost certainly because they are, perhaps because they were previously corrected on a non-calibrated setup.
    Photoshop and other color managed application should display them all more or less exactly the same, provided the files themselves have a color profile .

  • Backgroung color of displayed item

    Hi,
    I want to set the backround of an item accordig to its canvas background.
    I was trying:
    canvas_color .= := get_canvas_property('CANVAS_NAME, background_color);
    set_item_property('BLOCK.ITEM_NAME', background_color, canvas_color);
    This does'nt work successfuly as canvas background property is set to <default>, and get_canvas_property returns is null
    Do you have any suggestions of how to overcome this problem?
    I don't want to solve this problem by assigning a real rgb value (as mentioned eg in background color of display item )

    Hi
    I do not know perhaps following code will help to
    solve your problem.
    1.You have to create a VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE and define the
    background color
    2.Use this little example.
    DECLARE
    cn_id CANVAS;
    BEGIN
    cn_id := FIND_CANVAS('canvas2');
    SET_CANVAS_PROPERTY(cn_id,VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'MY_VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE');
    END;

    Any ThinkPad with discrete or switchable graphics will work...T400/500, R400/500, W500/700...make sure that you're not getting the one with Intel integrated GPU and you'll be all set...
    FWIW, even T61/p with discrete GPU will run  this with no sweat...

  • How to enable COLOR EFFECT, DISPLAY, etc. panels for the custom components?

    POSITION AND SIZE and COMPONENT PARMETERS are the only panels available for the custom components. Is there a way to configure the custom components or the Flash Pro itself to enable other panels (COLOR EFFECT, DISPLAY, etc.) that available for the Adobe UI components?

    In Flash CS6, you'll need to place your component(compiled clips) inside a Movieclip symbol to apply these settings. In Flash CC, you may do so directly from the Properties panel like for any other movieclip symbol.
    Let me know if you face issues.

  • Can a Color Box display the transparent color [16777216]?

    I was trying to force a Color Box to display the transparent color [16777216 = "2 to the 24th"], but I didn't have much luck.
    Instead of displaying transparent, the Color Box wanted to paint a replica of the coloring tool's "transparent" icon, which is a small "T" on a white background.
    Is it possible to make a Color Box display the transparent color?
    [See attached VI.]

    > Well just for the record it appears it is possible to make a color box transparent.
    Okay, that's pretty cool. How'd you do it? Also, your transparent "color" reports as being 0 [zero], which should be black. [Frankly, this strikes me as something of a bug...] And your Color Box does report as Visible.
    Or maybe it's only reporting the first 24 bits of your color as black, and omitting some values in the other eight bits [such as, maybe {1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1}???].
    I added a couple of other values [2^32 - 1, and (2^32 - 1) - (2^24 - 1), which should have 0 in the low 24 bits, and all 1's in the high eight bits], but I couldn't get it to take a value of 2^32. [I don't know how to do long ints in LabVIEW - I seem to recall that you can't.]
    Anyway, when I get some time [maybe tonight], I'll write a script to display all 256 possible values of the top eight bits.
    But in the meantime, do tell how you got the Color Box to display transparent.
    Thanks! Gotta run.

    Suddenly, the text color palette displays off the top of the page until I click it, creating an constant unnecessary extra step when selecting color. After searching extensively, I cannot locate any way to change this. Any suggestions?
    This bug is driving me nuts. Anyone else having the same problem? Have you solved it?
    Thanks!

    Sorry, Peter. I cannot. When I click to capture the screen, the palette disappears. Perhaps I can better describe it: when I wish to select a text color, I used to get a drop down palette. Now the palette is "dropping up," so it disappears off the top of my screen. I have to click into it to get it to drop down so I can see it. So, every time I want to pick a text color, I now have this extra step to deal with.
    It started suddenly, seemingly out-of-the-blue.
