Colors print too light in inDesign CS3

I can't figure this one out. I am working on a catalog, which has Illustrator CS3 files and Photoshop CS3 files placed. The files print fine in Illustrator and Photoshop, but will print too light, once placed in inDesign.
I have printed them out fine before. I have old prints that look good. I don't know what I did or changed that caused these color shifts.
Can anybody help me with this?
Thanks,
Anne

Make sure the document that is giving you trouble really has the correct color spaces assigned. You can see that by going to Edit > Convert Profiles... and noting what the current source spaces are. If they are not what you expect, cancel, then Edit > ASSIGN profiles and choose the correct ones.
You might also try exporting the documnet to .inx and see if that makes any difference.

  • Colors print too light on HP B/W printer

Using the Print color as black option is too extreme and hides black on gray text. I tried to disable econoprint on printer, but there was no change. Any ideas? I am using Acrobat 7.1.0. on Windows XP Pro.

  • Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3

Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3
    I have the following problem:
When printing from Photoshop or InDesign to a PostScript printer, Adobe recommends to let Photoshop handle the colors (I use the German version, so I don't know the exact term used, it changes slightly in all CS3 apps anyway).
The manufacturer however told me to let the PostScript printer handle the colors.
When I chose this option in Ps's print dialog and then choose ISO Coated as the printer pfofile, the results are fine.
But when I place the exact same image in an InDesign file and print from InDesign or export to PDF and print via Acrobat, again using "Printer handles colors", the results are the exact same as if I had used Ps and chosen to let Ps handle the colors (way too saturated and a bit too red).
    ·Photoshop CS3
    ·InDesign CS3
·Test image is a TIFF in CMYK Fogra 27 Coated (which is also the working color space in Ps and ID.
    ·Printer: Xerox Docucolor 3535
    ·Printer profile: ISO Coated
How can I make sure the printer handles the colors in other CS3 apps than Ps? I tried it with ID's print dialog (translated from the German version: Color Management > Options > Color Handling: PostScript-printer decides colors).
    Thanks a lot!

RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • My Canon PIXMA MG2120 prints TOO LIGHTLY. How adjust to print DARKER?

My Canon PIXMA MG2120 prints TOO LIGHTLY. How adjust to print DARKER?

    That's not really the answer.
The problem is that  it will print at the correct saturation/quality only when borderless printing is not used. I purchased this item because I wanted to be able to print full color borderless prints on a full 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I don't want to have to buy special glossy photo paper just to print borderless. Is this the truth of the matter? You cannot print borderless prints on plain paper without sacrificing significant quality? Does it always assume when you set it to borderless, whether youre in the standard print menu or the photo print menu, that you're printing a photo and it will then default to printing lightly? This is outrageous. They should say something about this in the manual.

  • CS5 prints too light using new Mac, perfect from older Mac?

Images edited w. Photoshop CS5 (v. 12.03) on a Mac running OS 10.6.8 print perfectly on my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. But the same files printed from a newer Mac running OS 10.7.4 and Photoshop CS5 (v12.1) print too light. Exact same printer settings in PS being used, same printer driver version (reinstalled to make sure not a bad driver), using the same .icc paper profile (also reinstalled), and using same batch of paper printed at same time.
Where do I start in determining the problem? Epson confirms driver is compatible. Everything else on the new system with PS works great. Gallery show in three weeks, must figure this out quick. Thanks.

Ps update is 12.0.4 and 12.1, but you are probably missing something, by posting screenshots someone may be able to spot the problem
are you sure which one is actually wrong
do they display identical in both OSes
are both versions of Ps using the same embedded profile, did you confirm that

  • Printing Too Light

I have been creating Pdf files from both AutoCAD and Microstation.  The files look perfect on the screen but when I print them to our plotter Xerox Wide Format Print System 8825 the image prints too light.  Files consist of black and grey scaled objects.  Is there any way to print 'wysiwyg' from adobe
So far the only way to imporove the prinitng has been to use the print as image option.  But this decreases the quality.
    Thank you

  • J6480 part of page prints too light

A friend of mine has an hp office jet all in one printer model j6480 that is giving her problems. When she prints a page, the top half looks good, but the bottom prints too light. When she prints another page right after that, the same problem occurs.  She will bring it over for me to look at on Tuesday. In the meantime, I was hoping to get an idea of what might be causing it or how to diagnose the problem.
    Thanks

  • Printing facing thumbnails in indesign cs3

I seem to be having trouble printing thumbnails with adobe indesign CS3 version 5.0.3.
My document is 72 pages long including covers, mainly consisting of placed raster images, the document size is 173.9 mb. My aim is to print a thumbnail version of my document with facing pages portrait on a3 pages preferably 10-12 spreads per sheet. This would enable me to study my document as an overview, allow me to present it to my colleagues as a hard copy for discussion and give me the opportunity to ***** the flow of the document as a finished piece.
Thumbnail printing under the print - setup option only allows thumbnail printing as page batches of 1x2 2x2 3x3 4x4 5x5 and so on. If anyone has found an alternative solution to my thumbnail printing problem I would appreciate it if they could share it with me.
n.b. My system requirements are, mac osx version 10.5.4, dual 2 ghz power pc G5 with 6gb ram. My printers are xerox workcentre 7335 & xerox workcentre pro C2128.
Also, thanks to Bob - Adobe Writer, for patience and forum user guidance.

I have created a template using a generic pdf that has the thumbnails
arranged how I want them using a generic link called thumbs.pdf. I
replace the thumbs.pdf with a LOW res copy of the document I'm working on.
See attached and then set something up like it, but suited for your needs.

  • Hp color laserjet cp4020 series black printing too light

Our company bought an HP Color LaserJet CP4025 about 2 months ago.  It printed perfectly through our first deadline, but when we changed the black toner cartridge, it now prints somewhat brown or gray and the colors aren't quite as bright.  What can we do to fix this?

So the other colors are printing darker / or look normal?  If Only the Black is faded even on the config page relative to the other colors present, or in other documents?
Do you have another cartridge to test out if this is a cartridge issue?
In the Service manual it indicate the if print is light or faded in a particular color there may be a poor primary transfer bias contacts on the ITB unit and product, or porro primary charging bias contacts with the print cartridge and product, or poor developing bias contacts with the print cartridge and product
Solution: Clean the contacts of the color that produces the light print.  If the problem remains after cleaning check the contacts for damage.  Replace any deformed or damaged parts.

  • How do I print a pdf file that is printing too light to read??

I have a pdf that I must print to buy a home.  It will not print as is. I shot screen shots, brought them into Photoshop, made them jpgs and adjusted the gamma to make them very black and white.
It helped but the pages cannot be read. There is plenty of ink in the printer.
I need to send this paperwork tomorrow with a check...
    WHAT TO DO?

I have this problem as well, prints come too light out of my Brother5370DW and consulted several channels on internet. Printing from pc was never a problem, only from mac: jpgs, tifs, txt, from Preview, Safari, Firefox, Photoshop, Acrobat etc whenever the document it was not full b/w. Especially screenshots from Google maps were just illegible. I just tried to print a pdf with dark grey text, very light as well. Then it ocurred to me to change the color matching profile in the printer's dialogue window: instead of automatic (which is Adobe RGB (1998) by default, I choose Black & White, and finally it prints fine: black what is supposed to be black, idem for dark greys, light greys.

  • Illustrator is Printing too Light

I'm pretty new to Illustrator and can't get it to print correctly.  I'm using the color setting my Illustrator teacher gave me.  The files print perfectly from other programs on the computer- so it is just an Illustrator problem.  People told me to mess around with the color and print settings until I find what works for my computer and printer ... I've tried everything and it' still too light.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you correct it?  I'm so frustrated.
    Thanks!

To get everyone else on the same page as yourself, it might help to explain what color setting you were given.
It may also help for you to post in the Illustrator forum.

  • MY NEW EPSON WF-7011 PRINTS TOO LIGHT IN IPHOTO-ANY HELP?

I have a brand new Epson WF-7011 that prints everything too light. In color options, on A-4 plain paper, by using the colour options below, I get an acceptable print with the Text & Graphics setting but the print is still too light. Color options are
    Brightness     -25
    Contrast        +25
    Saturation     +25
    Cyan             -25
    Magenta       -25
    Yellow           -25
With these settings everything is maxed out to make the print as dark as possible. Because of the equalness of the corrections I think the colour balance is fine, just not dark enough.
This is with the print quality set to: Quality and Vivid settings, with Gamma at 2.2. When I print on Color Glossy Paper, it is even lighter because of the whiter white of photo paper.
I have an iMac running Maverics and have installed all of the most recent drivers.

If it prints everything too light then it's an issue with the printer and not iPhoto. I'd be asking Epson support.

  • Export to pdf vs. print to pdf, from InDesign CS3

We are using Indesign CS3 on Windows XP. We are creating documents for offset printing, with 300dpi photos placed in the document. We are finding that when we "EXPORT" to pdf, and choose a "high quality print", the pdf is fine. However, if we 'print to pdf' and choose "high quality print", the photos in our pdf are more pixellated, and appear to be 150 dpi or lower resolution. Is this a problem with CS3? Does it make any difference how the tiff files have been placed, or sized, in InDesign? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

In the print dialog, when printing to PDF, under the graphics panel, make sure you change the default value of "Optimized Subsampling" to "all" for the "Send Image Data" field.

  • Printing too light from imac - Canon MP210

Have recently bought the Canon MP210 connected it to my imac and the printing is too light, except for iphoto's. Any ideas?

If you make a copy, is the printing dark enough? If it is okay when copying, then you can rule out the print mechanism/machine settings.
So, concentrating on it being related to the printer driver settings, have you tried going to Quality & Media and selecting one of the other print modes?
