Colors printing incorrectly

my mbp prints incorrectly. It seems that reds are missing. The LCD looks correct and strangely enough, the thing prints correctly if I boot up in windows.
I have run my Spyder 2 calibration device and it tells me the LCD is just fine...gotta be some sort of color space problem???

Run /Applications/Utilities/ColorSync Utility and Verify/Repair the profiles ?

  • InDesign CS3 Color Printing Incorrectly - Please Help!

I purchased Creative Suite 3. When I print photos in Indesign, the colors do not print accurately. It looks liked I smeared orange sherbet all over the photo. I still have InDesign CS on the computer and I did a test print and the color is fine. I tried reinstalling CS3 Suite and the same things occurs. Any thoughts?

This is probably a color management issue.
Color management was off by default in CS, and is on for later versions. Unless you've calibrated your monitor and embedded profiles in your images, I suspect that what you are getting from either program is hit-or-miss and may not resemble the "real" color in the image file, particularly if there is no accurate profile for your printer.
Painful as it is to say, the best thing you can do is go to the library or bookstore and get a book. I highly recommend Real World Color Management as the easiest to understand resource I've seen.

I TRIED TO VERIFY AND REPAIR BY USING 'COLOR SYNC FACILITY'. THE MESSAGE SAYS THAT THE FIVE (5) FAULTY FILES ARE LOCKED.
HOW TO UNLOCK AND WHERE IN THE SYSTEM SHOULD I FIND THE SOLUTION?
Message Edited by WendyM on 07-05-2009 02:45 PM

What printer model?  What operating system?  What is the nature of the color issues - are the colors off just a bit or is yellow, cyan, or magenta missing completely?

  • Same colors print great in PS, muted in ID

Why do colors in a given graphic print differently from InDesign versus Photoshop?
As an example...I have a 300 dpi PSD graphic that is a background of reds and oranges, very vivid and saturated. When I print it out from Photoshop onto glossy paper, it prints beautifully and very accurate per the screen.
Then I import the same graphic into InDesign. When I print it out, using the same printer and paper, the color is very different. All the red tones and saturation is gone. The red and orange background is now muted browns and golds. The difference is striking. The graphic looks completely washed out, or even like a different graphic because all of the red tones are gone.
I have tried printing many different variations: changing the graphic from RGB to CMYK, making sure the color working spaces are the same between the two programs, the print settings, etc. I do not understand why this same graphic prints so wonderfully in Photoshop and yet so drab out of InDesign.
I am using a Mac (OS 10.5) with Creative Suite 3. Printer is an Epson R300. I have tried two other printers with the same results, so I've ruled out the printer as the culprit. I'm pretty sure it's an incorrect setting in InDesign. I would understand if programs from different software makers printed a graphic differently, but with all the connections between InDesign and Photoshop, the difference here should not be happening.
Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong in InDesign? If you need more information about my set up, let me know. Thank you.

The problems you are having are in part due to IDCS3 and in part due to Leopard. Do a search in this forum for "color printing InDesign".

  • Upgraded to Tiger OS and now color prints all wrong

I recently replaced my HD and upgraded to Tiger OS. Since then, my color prints have been horrible. My printer/copier is an Epson CX4800 and the color copies it produces are still OK. Trying to print a color print produces a pic with bands of color at the top and bottom borders, incorrect colors in the picture, and a weird type of "halo" effect around the objects within the picture. I have downloaded the newest updates/drivers for my particular printer. I have tried printing different types of files (JPEG, GIF) and get the same results. The printer/copier itself checks out OK (nozzle check, head alignment, etc). Any ideas??
    thanks,

    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Theresa, my old Epson 740 did exactly the same thing as you described after updating toTiger 10.4.8. I just chalked it up to the printer being so ancient. Like you I went through all the cleaning rituals. However, I also have an Epson Stylus Photo R220 which survived the update.
Did you by any chance repair permissions after you updated? (Apparently, this did not work for my ancient Epson.)

If by chance you did repair permissions, maybe you should contact Epson and/or check out their support site to see if there is some sort an issue w/your model printer & the latest Tiger update.

  • Color Printing issue on Canon MP600 Printer and Mavericks upgrade

I realize that some people have been having problems scanning with the new upgrade on their printer, however, I am have trouble printing in color with the new Mavericks upgrade. Black and white is fine, but if there is any logo or color fonts, they are distorted. How do I go about fixing this?

I too was having the same issue where I was unable to print in color on my MP600 with Mavericks. It printed incorrect font, colors and distorted the size and placement on page .  I followed the above instructions to download the MP600R via the Canon UK website and it has solved my problem.
If anyone is as computer illiterate as I seem to be: After downloading the MP600R driver and installing it, I went to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners> delete the printer currently listed>add a new printer and select the MP600R from the list of software to choose.
I have yet to delete any software/driver files related to the old printer, so I was able to correct the problem simply by downloading the new driver, deleting the current printer, and adding a "new" printer selecting the MP600R.
So happy it is now resolved as this has been driving me crazy for months!

  • HT3669 I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • I am using Aperture 3 to edit RAW and JPEG photo images on my Macbook.  I am having color printing issues with my Canon MP640 Pixma color printer.  The image I see on my macbook is not reciprocated in printing from my printer?

My issue is that I am not getting print quality compared to the image I see on my screen.  Just recently it has been very wishie washie.  My printer is supposed to be excellent for producing color prints
I have contacted Canon support but they told me that the signals that are sent to the printer originate from an Apple product, therefore, it is an Apple mac problem not there's.  I am wondering if my on screen proofing and/or printing profiles are correctly set.  I notice that in 'print profiles' there are nine different options for printing from my particular printer.  How confusing is that?
I have also found that when I choose a high standard print option my photo print comes out very red.
Can some kind person please help me?  I don't seem to be getting any help from anyone else!  Thanks in anticipation.

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

My HP LaserJet Pro 400 color Printer M451dn stopped printing after a short usage of non hp toner. How do I get this printer to accept these toner cartridge ? My 3600dn never has a problem

If you are using non-HP toner cartridges, then I would say that the onus is on the supplier of these to resolve the problem.
Or to accept that these cartridges aren't quite as compatible as they've no doubt been advertised to be.

I need to install an HP Laserjet Pro 400 color printer.  When I plug in the USB - it provides a driver which I can open and get to the install process -  The process takes me to the point of plugging in the USB and starts to install.
After 10 minutes and getting to 99% complete the install stops because it is taking to long.
I have searched for the driver on the web site but when I click on the printer name - the HP web site goes into an

  • Getting Darker Blacks from My HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer

Hi. I own an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer and am on a Windows XP system. For regular printing, it works great. However, for some graphic work I am doing, I can not get the blacks to print out dark enough. I can not find any settings on the print properties panel that would allow me to set a darker black coverage. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey,
I see you are having an issue with Air Print on your CP1525nw Color Laserjet Pro.  Have you tried a full network power cycle?
Unplug the router and printer while on
Power down the iOS device completely.  Check out the following link for how: http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonehowtos/qt/turn_off_iphone.htm
    Wait 30 seconds
Power the router up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the printer up and wait for it to completely initialize before proceeding
Power the iOS device back up
It sounds like the network most likely lost communication with the bonjour service of the printer.
