Colour change when opening LTRM image in PS
My question is as simple as this:
In Lightroom my RAW (NEF) image looks like this:
After conversion in LTRM from RAW to PSD, it looks like this
See how greyish the PSD version is. Just like if someone had cranked the saturation slider down before the conversion. And yes, I did check the "Edit Image in Photoshop with Lightroom adjustments".
Why does this happen?
OK, checked the colour settings. Everything was set like you suggested.
But the problem has been way less noticeable during the past months. Maybe because I made a recalibration some time ago. The screendumps I attached where made this spring. So there might be a chance my monitor profile was corrupt back then, but got OK since i recalibrated.
I'll do some more tests, saying thanks for now for the quick reply.

Image colour changes when opening in Adobe Flash
Hi folks
I'm a complete novice when it comes to Flash so I hope you can help me out. I've been trying to open a jpeg image in Actionscript 3.0 which opens without any issues however part of the lettering in the image appears to display as a different colour as if Flash doesn't recognise the colour in the image. The strange thing is that it opens in photoshop as the correct colour but not in Flash. Would the colour scheme that the image uses perhaps need to be added to Flash database of colours?
Your help is much appreciated.
ThanksNot to worry figured it out.
When I open the image in photoshop the default Image Mode was set to CMYK Color. I changed this to RGB Colour, re-saved the image, exported it to Flash and it's the correct color. -
Colour change when placing Photoshop image
Help needed! In Indesign CS4 I have created a template and within the program have made a couple of rectangular boxes filled with 20% black, placed on the master pages. These have text placed over them in the main pages.
Placing a Photoshop CS4 .psd image in a page of the document, changes the colour of these boxes automatically to a darker colour.- both on screen and printing. If I delete the Photoshop image, the colour of the boxes changes back to what it's supposed to be. I've checked the fill colour of the boxes with and without the image file being placed and both times it says 20% black.
I've checked the Assign Profile settings in both Indesign and Photoshop and both say sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but never having gone into these settings before, I don't know if that's correct.
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.I will check the Photoshop file to see if this is a problem. As a workaround, I have saved the image as a jpg and placed in the Indesign document and this seems to work fine.
Thanks for this suggestion. -
Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module. I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC. There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.
Help!...Please?The penny will drop soon or maybe the cloud will lift.
In Lightroom all editing is undoable/nondestructive.
Hence a crop of 3x2 is not inches, centimetres, pixels or anything else. It is jst a ratio. When a file is exported, either to PS or disk, then the crop ratio has size determined in respect of pixels and inches or cms.
So my 6000x5000 pixel image I will crop to 3x2 that leaves (before exporting) a 6000x4000 file.
Now when exported it can be set to export at
100pixels per inch and will end up at 60x40" when printed.
200pixels per inch will end up at 30x20"
300ppi will end at 20x13.3"
You will notice in the Crop Tool there are no size denominations such as inches or centimetres as an image file only has pixels and the determination of size is done through exporting or printing.
Hope that helps somewhat.. -
IPad mini is slow when opening an image in photos
I Have an iPad mini (wifi) and its slow when opening an image on photos. It takes 20 seconds to open a single image.
I tried exporting my pictures to a usb and only stayed with 1,008 pictures.
I Don't know what to do it worked fine when I first got it but this started to happen a year ago I'm stuck and don't know what to do.Greetings casielfromchula vista,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing slowness. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Best,

Changing the background color when opening an image?
I just installed Firefox on my new Windows laptop, and when I open an image in a new tab the background around the image is a dark gray. On my old computer the background is white, which I much prefer. How do I change this setting?
It is a new feature in Firefox 11+ versions to display a single image centered with an almost black background.
It is added by this stylesheet:
* resource://gre/res/TopLevelImageDocument.css
You can look at this extension to set your preferred background color and remove the centering.
* Old Default Image Style: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/
See also these forum threads for other solutions (e.g. userContent.css):

Lightroom 4.2 changes color temp when opening existing image
I have installed LR 4.2 two days ago, and have run into a serious problem. When in develop mode, when I click on an image in the film strip, LR opens the image and changes the color temperature dramatically. The blue/yellow slider moves to the far left. I think this is the only change, but didn't check.
The action is not in the history, so I cannot undo it. When I quit and restart, the change is still there. There is no way to recover the pre-existing setting.
This is a serious problem obviously, so any advice on how to proceed is welcome. Can I convert my catalog back to 3.6?
Thanx, Job Honigfoto18, you're not alone in this: I have the same exact issue, and can't get to understand what's in LR's mind.
I can even show pictures changing temperature in preview/full screen just because i select/deselect them.
Of course, this throws away hours of previously done work - but maybe it's just me?
Here and example: picture #2 is a virtual copy of #1. Right now, #2 is selected (we're in edit mode).
Now I hover onto picture #1, and - voila'! - the temperature goes down. And if I go back and select #2 - bang! - temperature of #1 goes up again; on its own that is. This is bizzarre to say the least.
Help much appreciated. Would love to provide this as a bug report - because that's what it really looks like anyways - rather than a forum input.
Thanks,
.salvo -
Photoshop CS3 crashes when opening an image
When I open an image by double clicking on it when Photoshop CS3 is either open or closed, it crashes. If Photoshop is open and I attempt to open an image by going to "file" then "open" is still crashes. If I go to "file" then "new" a new doc will open. If I switch users on the same machine, images will open. I did an A&I and had the same issues. I also removed Photoshop and did a complete reinstall and am having the same problem. I verified and repaired the disk permissions. I also removed my printers and made my default Adobe PDF 8.0. I've installed a trial version of CS5 and images open fine. Nothing had changed since the last time I used it. Here's the crash log:

Strange message when opening an image in PS5
Sometimes when I open an image in CS5 I get this weird message It reads "photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver
and has temporily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturers website for the latest software. GPU enhancements can be
enabled in the perfermormance panel of preferences" I am really at a loss as to what this means./when I go to preferences then performance I get this large screen with numerences choices, none of which mean anything to me. Does anyne have any advice or assistance. Honestly I cannot tell any change when I continue to process the selected image. But all that information has got to mean something.
Jim ReasonerYou likly have a buggy display driver. They're fairly common.
Adobe describes the GPU-specific features (which you're losing when it disables OpenGL) here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405745.html
What you need to do to solve the problem at the root cause is (assuming you have a desktop computer) to visit the web page of the maker of your video card (e.g., nVidia or ATI) and download/install the latest display driver for your hardware and OS.
If you have a laptop usually you have to get the display drivers from the laptop maker's web site.

Colour problems when opening PEF files in ACR
I have the problem that when I open a (Pentax) raw image in ACR the colours (particularly blue it seems to me) go awry.
If I open the image in Pentax Photo Browser the image is displayed correctly.
If I convert the image to jpg in Pentax Photo Lab the image is displayed correctly.
If I open this jpg in Photoshop Elements 8 the image is displayed correctly.
It's only when I open the raw files directly in Photoshop that the colours are wrong.
Opening the raw file in Elements opens the 'Camera raw' window, which has various adjustment tabs with sliders. What ever adjustments I make in this window, I cannot seem to replicate/keep the correct colours.
I have tried resetting and then using the Camera Raw Defaults.
I've also tried some other adjustments, i.e. setting the white balance to 'Daylight' (as this is how the camera is usually set) and the camera calibration to 'Camera Standard' - I can get the blue somewhat close, but then the yellow is out.
So, at the moment, I have to process the raw files in Pentax Photo lab, then open and edit them in Photoshop.
It would be nice to be able to bring single PEF files into PS without having to convert them first.
What on earth am I doing wrong? Or is this a genuine limitation with ACR?
Any help/guidance would be appreciated!
Regards,
Dingo.Jim Hess,
That's helpful advice, thank you. Sadly, I've been unable so far to make adjustments in ACR that are anywhere near (IMHO) the images as displayed in Pentax Photo Lab. Even the (truly awful) MS Office picture manager provides more consistent colour.
I'm still convinced that I'm doing something wrong. I know that Elements is much cheaper than full Photshop (something that I simply can't afford to buy) but to be so wildly out is unbelieveable.
For example, I took a photo of a jet passing overhead, with (out of focus) leaves on a tree, then went in and loaded this onto my computer. IMHO the Pentax Photo Browser showed the scene pretty much as was. After converting to jpg in Photo Lab, I loaded into PSE 8 and Office picture manager - both display consistently with the raw image displayed in Photo Browser.
However, when I loaded the same raw file into ACR the blue sky has a greenish tinge that I can nearly adjust out, but either way, the green leaves look muddy and the colour is weak. If I get the leaves good, then the blue is very over saturated. When I compromise both the blue and the green, the aluminium fuselage on the jet has a red/purple tinge.
Some more information: Monitor is calibrated (I borrowed a colleages Huey). Camera and PSE are both set to Adobe RGB. I print to a Epson R1400, with colour management handled by PSE, and the colour matches the screen very well.
Any further advice much appreciated.
Regards,
Dingo. -
LR makes unwanted changes on opening an image
I'm a Mac user that usually takes RAW+JPG with my Canon SLR. If I view the RAW or JPG file using the Preview app on my Mac the colours usually look pretty good. If I open the same images with DPP (Canon Raw converter) the images look virtually identical to when viewed in Preview. However if I view the same file in LR, momentarily as the file opens the image looks the same as in DPP and Preview, but than LR does something to make the image different, often darker and more saturated. File attached shows a less extreme example - compare preview on the left and LR on the right
Note my Apple cinema screen is fully calibrated
Does anyone know what is happening here and how I can stop this from happening? I love LR but this is really annoying me.

Colour changes when importing Illustrator graphics into Flash CS3
Hi there!
I'm creating a Flash site, and all the graphics are imported
from Illustrator.
Also, in the Illustrator file, there are some Phtoshop
graphics with shadow effects on it.
The problem is, that when I import the .ai into Flash, a
pretty strong colour change occurs: everything becomes lighter. And
the shadow, wich is black in Photoshop, turns white in Flash!
Is there a way to solve this problem? I searched the net, and
some people say it's an OSX thing, wich is pretty strange, because
Mac is an obvious choice for loads of designers.
I've attached an image preview.
Preview
Thanks in advance!
AlexThanks for the anwsers!
However, the weird thing is, when I pick one of the photoshop
graphics, asign the profile to it, and import it into Flash, the
colors look fairly good. BUT when I import the complete Illustrator
file with alle the graphics in it, I still get the color shift. I
can now put all the graphics in the flash file, one at a time, but
I think thats not the most easy way to do it.. -
Quick Time 8 Gamma has changed when opening H.264 files.
I noticed yesterday that the same move file from my Canon 5DMK2 shows a different gamma than when opened in QT7.
I have the optional QT7 installed and opening the file side by sides shows the difference, crushed blacks and burnt highlights.
Once exported the colour data is lost. QT8 only saves in H.264, so if using the share function in QT8 your file will have this problem.
(QT7 - Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility, checked) no option in QT8.My understanding is that Snow Leopard uses a new standard gamma of 2.2. Previously, the standard gamma for Mac OS X was 1.8. Page 4 of this excellent but extensive Snow Leopard review has a good explanation.
http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2009/08/mac-os-x-10-6.ars/4
Perhaps this change accounts for what you observed. If so, you can use Calibrate tool in System Preferences Displays pane Color tab to change the gamma setting to 1.8. -
How can I tell if a non-destructive crop has been applied when opening an image?
I've wrapped my head around how to reclaim the stripped-out portion of an image that has been non-destructively cropped in CS6: click the image with the crop tool, or select Reveal All from the Image menu. Short of doing this every time I suspect that I may have cropped an image, is there anything in Photoshop's interface to tell me at a glance if the image has been non-destructively cropped? I guess I could check the document dimensions in the pop-up status display at the bottom of the window, but I'm looking for something more direct that doesn't make me search.
2009 iMac 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo; OS 10.8.1
Jeff FrankelIf you primarily edit files from a particular camera, then your idea to set the status box at the lower-left to show the image dimensions is a good one - just watch for dimensions that are not the norm.
You shouldn't have to set the readout to Document Dimensions more than once, though... Open one image, set that field to read Document Dimensions, then close the document and quit Photoshop gracefully. From now on it ought to read Dimensions when you open a new document.
I wasn't aware 10.8.1 was out.

When opening an image in Adobe Camera Raw in CC, the image is solid red
The image is solid red and not my image. I have been working on an image and several layers of work done on things like white balance, color cast. When I add a CAL I cant get to ACR at all. If im on the previous CAL I can open in ACR but with the red image. I am on a Mac 10.8.5 Have the latest version of CC installed. Help!
An hour later I went back and on a copy of my Background layer, I opened the image in ACR. So what are the parameters of ACR that I don't understand? You can't do that in ACR, but you can if you open it in Photoshop and use the crop tool there.
