Colour changes when importing Illustrator graphics into Flash CS3

Hi there!
I'm creating a Flash site, and all the graphics are imported
from Illustrator.
Also, in the Illustrator file, there are some Phtoshop
graphics with shadow effects on it.
The problem is, that when I import the .ai into Flash, a
pretty strong colour change occurs: everything becomes lighter. And
the shadow, wich is black in Photoshop, turns white in Flash!
Is there a way to solve this problem? I searched the net, and
some people say it's an OSX thing, wich is pretty strange, because
Mac is an obvious choice for loads of designers.
I've attached an image preview.

Thanks in advance!
Alex

Thanks for the anwsers!
However, the weird thing is, when I pick one of the photoshop
graphics, asign the profile to it, and import it into Flash, the
colors look fairly good. BUT when I import the complete Illustrator
file with alle the graphics in it, I still get the color shift. I
can now put all the graphics in the flash file, one at a time, but
I think thats not the most easy way to do it..

  • Import Illustrator file into Flash

I'm using Flash CS4 and I want to import an *AI file that contains the shapes of Europe's countries. The thing is that each country has a filling of dots (blue or yellow) instead of a solid color. Here is a screenshot of my Illustrator screen:http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/6983/testedd.jpg
When I import the AI into Flash all these dots become rasterized and everything looks like squashed because, I no longer have vector dots but instead bitmaps. Example of the exported SWF: http://takeab.us/SPL_embed/index_carte.html
(try and right-click and Zoom In; you'll see how bad it looks)
So, what's the best way in importing an AI file and keeping also the vector shapes? I've tried with a version EPS and still no hope.

Well object expand is what I did then copy and paste, I am not certain of the reason to crop.
this is what i got when I expanded copied and pasted. so I do not think the crop is necessary it pastes as a symbol and the symbol is clipped which I think is what you want.
But if in this case you want the stroke as well once you select anyone of the countries they have no stroke according t the tool bar proxy and so it you give it a stroke using say a swatch and then expand copy and paste you get both the fill and the stroke if you desire the stroke as well.
In the case of France and Paris once you paste those into Flash after you stroke and expand then you select both the city and the country and make that into a symbol so that they are one.
And I notice from the art you sent all you have to do is select a country expand, copy, paste and then undo the expand and you are good t go do your work.

  • When importing an image into Flash, the filesize is reported incorrectly

I saved an image from Photoshop using "Save for Web" and managed to bring the filesize down to 56.5kb. When I import this image into Flash and click on the properties, the reported "Original" filesize is 1884.6kb which is a heck of a lot more. How can I import the image and retain the filesize without having to compress the image further causing a horrible quality image?

right click one of your bitmaps, click properties and tick "allow smoothing".  retest.

  • Importing H.264 into Flash CS3

I have an H.264 video that I saved out from FCP via Compressor using the H.264 Format for QT 7.0. The Video looks great when viewed in Quicktime. It was my understanding the H.264 is now supported by the Flash Player natively; however, when I try to IMPORT my H-264.mov into Flash CS3 it looks like it only offers me two choices of RE-Encoding to wither VP6 or Spark - this results in an inferior result after it re-compresses the video.
Why can I not just reference the H.264 movie to play without re-encoding?

This is what I did.  I saved my movie to the MP4 format in my video editing program and then I used this program to encode it with the H.264 codec.  http://www.h264encoder.com Then I used this program to move the metadata from the back of the file to the front so that it would start to play before it completely downloaded.  http://howbits.com/stream-mp4-website-h264-high which leads to this link http://rndware.info/download/metadatamover09
    I hope this helps you.

  • Color Shift When Importing JPG Sequence into Flash CS6

I am importing a jpg sequence into flash that has been exported from After Effects CS6. No matter what I try, the color will shift when the image imports into flash. The sequence originally started out as a vector graphic in Illustrator (color profile set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1) and then imported into After Effects for an animation that I couldn't quite achive in Flash. The color profile in After Effects is also sRGB IEC61966-2.1 with the "Match Legacy" checkbox checked. I export it out of After Effects as a JPG Sequence and then import into Flash. No matter what I try, the bitmap images' color will shift (become dull) when I import. Even when I open the images in Windows Photo Gallery, they look fine - it's only when I import into Flash.  I've also tried PNG and .PSD Sequence with the same result. I've searched around, but still haven't found a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in the midst of trying to figure out the opposite : Flash to After Effects.  I am betting that this is an issue of 'color profile' attached to the images and the gamma settings in that profile.  RGBA is only part of the story - color profile is all the rest of it.  Eye Dropper doesn't tell you the color profile attached to the image.

  • Importing illustrator artwork into Flash (without all the 'mess')

    Hi,
This isn't really a problem, more so that I am just "fussy". My friend and I are working on a game. He is producing the artwork in illustrator. I want to keep the artwork in vector format so it scales well on different devices (so exporting as a bitmap is not an option). When I import his illustrator files in Flash, it ends up making thousands of symbols in the library and it's making the interface in flash sluggish, not to mention it just looks messy. (I am aware I could group the symbols into a seperate folder in Flash but that doesn't help the sluggish problem much).
My question is what can I do to make all the illustrator artwork import as shapes and lines instead of complete graphic symbols (which I don't want because it's messy, even if I do group them into folders in the library, it may appear tidier but I know that they are still there and created as symbols and that will bother me anyway). I will be making flash cache the objects as bitmaps for better runtime performance, but that's besides the point. I don't want flash to feel bogged down or unresponsive when I minipulate things and I like things tidy and effecient.
I know what I am asking is possible, for example if you open Flash and draw a few shapes with the pen or any other tool, they don't appear in the library. You can then group all the shapes together as one big "graphic" or "movie clip" by converting it to what you desire. This is nice and efficient and you have just 1 object in the library instead of a "symbol" for every little shape.
I hope I am making myself understood,
    thanks Lee

    Hello Gentlemen,
I'm also importing .ai files from Illustrator into Flash, collapsing the layers in the flash import window and selecting the entire group as one layer, then importing as a movie clip directly into the library, not the stage.
When I look at my Library, I have all of my movie clips (though they are missing the "mc_" label I had named each with, but there was also a separate folder created for each one, with another folder inside labelled, "Layer 1" and inside that is "Layer 1". Some of them also include a file named <Mesh>.
Is this because I selected the entire folder to import and then named each individually as they came in? Can I get rid of the folders and just keep the movie clips, or are those support files?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Issue when importing ai files into Flash

Okay I have an Adobe Illustrator CS4 file that I am trying to import into Flash CS4.  The file is fine in illustrator, it's just when it comes into Flash that it has problems.  Namely, it doesn't render the shape correctly even though the subobject profile path is correct.  See attachment.  We're really zoomed in here, the shape itself isn't much larger than 10px square.
I've deduced that it is a scaling issue, but don't know how to get around it other than redrawing the shape again in flash.  It's not like flash has an issue with tiny elements, it seems to have an issue with elements drawn at a larger scale in ai and then scaled down, be it in ai directly or in flash after import.  There is a threshold in which it no longer wants to draw the shapes correctly anymore, as if the curve handles are being ignored and it's merely trying to draw a straight line.  Again this same file if brought in much larger renders properly, it's only when it has been scaled down previously that it becomes confused.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get around this problem?

Are you running the latest version of Flash CS4 (I believe it is 10.0.2)?  I don't have CS4, but I think I recall that something similar came up some months ago and the solution was to install the latest update for Flash CS4.

  • Look of photos change when import from D40 into iPhoto 6

I'm using iPhoto 6 and have a Nikon D40. I'm having a problem when I import my photos -- the image quality changes when they go from the camera into iPhoto. The images look more contrast-y, more saturated. I mean, the reds and oranges are so intense it's crazy. They definitely did not look like that when I viewed them in the camera LCD.
I've tried checking in preferences, but can't seem to find anything that would alter the images during transfer. Would this be a camera problem? Anyone using iPhoto 6 have the same problem as I am with their D40?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having the same exact problem... iPhoto 6 and Nikon D40. If I import the photos to a folder first, then import from the folder to iPhoto, I can open the iPhoto version and then open the folder version using Preview, just by clicking on the original. I then compare the two side-by-side on the computer screen. The original always looks fine in Preview, so it is clearly a problem with iPhoto over-saturating the photos. I have no solution, but only this observation.

  • Can't import mx.graphics into Flash CS6

I'm use both Flash CS6 and Flash Builder 4.6.  In FB I can import mx.graphics.* into an .as file with no problem, but in Flash only mx.core is recognized.  How can I access mx.graphics in Flash?  Many thanks.

  • ID CS4 book crashes when imported Illustrator graphics encountered

I'm testing my first InDesign book (.indb) , and InDesign is crashing whenever it encounters anything but the simplest placed Illustrator CS3 file. This happens even when there is just one file in the book! I've tried using the "Export Book to PDF" command, printing to a .ps file, and printing to a real printer. No luck. The files in the book all distill and print fine individually. I've tried both .ai and .eps formats, but it doesn't make any difference. If I delete the Illustrator files from the ID files, the book distills without problems.
I'm using a downloaded trial version of CS4. Could that be the problem? We are running these tests to see if it would be possible to convert some of our documents from FrameMaker to InDesign. So far, it looks like the answer is no.  8-)
Other than that, I'm using Windows XP Professional.
    Many thanks.

    Good Morning, Mr. Spier --
First, you are much more than kind to take an interest in this. I
    can't thank you enough.
How much free drive space do you have? How much RAM?
    Drive space: tons
    RAM: 3 GB
Are these really complex vector files?
In some cases yes, but often no. These are technical illustrations.
But here's the thing: When I remove them from the ID CS4 files,
crashing ceases. But when I place them in a new file, with nothing
else in it, they will usually distill from within the book. I've tried
stripping out any non-graphic element that might somehow conflict with
the illustrations -- e.g.,  master page items that contain user-
defined variables and conditional text -- but nothing seems to help.
When I rasterize the illustrations and bring them in as tiffs, no
problem. But again, all these files distill just fine when handled
    individually.
Any chance you could poast a sample somewhere and give us a link to
it for testing on other systems? What you are describing is far from
    normal.
Yes, I have an ftp site. But before I pester you, I'm trying to
arrange some off-site testing now. The illustrator who created the ai
files is going to do a test on a Mac of a small subset of files (that
    nevertheless crashes on my system).
And this morning I've emailed a colleague who has CS4 on a Windows
machine. I want to see how things behave on her system. I'll report
    back.
Also, I've attached a PDF of one of the files just so you can see what
I'm working with. Note the logo in the upper left corner. This is
always the element that crashes InDesign. When I remove it, the large
illustration in the body of the page causes the crash. (For the
record, this is one of the simplest illustrations.) The icon in the
upper right corner and the logo in the running footer don't crash.
Oddly, these are both old eps files.
Again, most sincere thanks for your above-and-beyond kindness.

  • Importing illustrator keylines into PShop (CS3)

I recently upgraded my Suitcase to Fusion 2...
Problems  included font issues and not being able to save illustrator .ai files -  could only save as .eps and .pdf
Further problems  developed when trying to import outlines into PShop from illustrator,  whether as bitmap or smart objects.
I then had to  upgrade Tiger to Leopard to resolve this and the font issues.
I  still get the import errors, although the font issues seem to have been  sorted.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance....
    Errors screens are:

What are your Preferences – File Handling & Clipboard-settings in Illustrator?
Other than that as with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, etc.) might also be beneficial.

  • Captivate 3 is wrong size when importing into Flash CS3

I've tried exporting, publishing etc. and no matter how I
try, when I import into Flash CS3 the size of the Captivate content
(background screens, in particular) are too small. For example, I
captured a 423x424 area for my Captivate project. When I import
into a Flash CS3 project with the same dimensions the Captivate
content (screens) are more like 203x203.5 and the mouse path and
slide context starting positions are upper left corner. I've tried
adjusting some of the importing settings but can't get the screens
the right size unless I resize each one manually - and I have
around 100. Any help greatly appreciated!

I am using captivate 3 and I get an error whenever I try to
export to flash cs3. unknown error.
why the hell doesnt Adobe say that flash is required to
export to flash BEFORE I buy the software? I am using my pc for
captivate, but am primarily mac based and was going to edit in
flash on my mac. but captivate didnt allow for me to export to
flash at all without any kind of flash installed. I installed a
demo version of flash, but the export is coming up with an error.
any ideas out there? adobe??? I'm currently using vista OS.
    thanks in advance. r

  • Frame Rate change when importing video into FCP 5

I am importing an HD h264 file into FCP 5. The video when opened in QT shows that it's frame rate is 30fps, what I exported it at. When I Import the file into FCP 5 it changes the frame rate to 29.97fps, which is causing major video/audio syncing issues. Any thoughts on how to stop the frame rate change when importing? I tried changing my system settings and audio/video settings before the import to match the file and it is still picking it up at 29.97, major headache especially since I'm cutting industrial.

yeah I'm kinda limited, working with video for the web and I'm making revisions as to what has been already posted. The H264s are the originals per say as we are using a screen capturing program to obtain the video, I could re export the originals at a truer format, but with the resources I'm given, its not truly the option I can afford to take. I've found a workaround through using imovie of all things, but I rather be in FCP. I've done some editing with h264s before and this is the first time I've seen this happen, it kind of reminds me of when I had an editor a few years back digitize video that was drop frame as non-drop.

  • Importing PDF into flash CS3 - Importer du PDF dans CS3

    Hello.
Originally, i posted my question in french. So i will try to
convert in english, but my english is poor.
You can see the original in french, in back of this topic, in
    bolded text
So, my problem : i can import some PDF files with Flash MX
2004, but i cannot do the same with Flash CS3.
When i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the PDF file
in Flash MX 2004, i got the vectorial logo correctly and the text
    as a text.
But when i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the same
PDF file into Flash CS3, there is a problem. At start, i cannot
click the PDF file, i have to choose "all the files" to can click
it. Then i click it and there is a pop window appearing, talking
about "importing video". But my PDF is not Video… And at the
end, the result is a poor jpg image of my PDF, not the vectorials
    that i would like.
So why the old Flash MX can do it easily, and the recent CS3
    can not ?
What i have to do ?
    Bonjour,
vidéo" me demandant de sélectionner si ladite vidéo
Il me demande

Is that really the end, doc ?
