Colour difference between LR4.4 and CS6

Why is the colour different from LR4 to CS6?  Using Spyder to calibrate screen and I know CS6 picks up the Spyder calibration but not sure is LR4 picks up the same calibration.  Both are set for srgb colour space.

If you wish to have the best match between Lightroom and Photoshop it would be best to select Pro Photo RGB as your Color Working space in Photoshop.
If everything is working as it should (i.e. the monitor profile is good and valid), that normally makes no visual difference on screen. The only possible exception is if the document profile in Photoshop is sRGB and you have a wide gamut monitor. Then you might see gamut differences.
Other than that, the conversion from any color space to the monitor profile should give identical results - that's the whole point of color management. But if there is a problem with the monitor profile, one conversion may go bad but not the other, and so you see a difference.
In short, any difference that is not attributable to gamut clipping (and again that only applies to a wide gamut monitor) is diagnostic of a bad profile.

  • Metadata Conflicts between LR4 and CS6

I recently upgraded to LR4 and CS6 Extended.  I will offer start in LR4 but switch to CS6 for additional editing.  On some of my thumbnails, I will see a "!" in the upper right hand corner on the thumbnails.  When I click on the icon, a pop-up window appear stating a Metadata conflict has occurred.  The pop-up window gives you two options: Copy file data into the catalog or have the catalog overwrite the file data.  What is the best thing to do knowing you are only working between LR4 and CS6?

This is a known issue with the latest PS update. Refer to the pertinent thread on the PS forum.

  • Colour difference between color and FCP

i have edited in FCP doing no colour correction at all then i have sent it to color using the

done my colour correction and sent it back using the
send to final cut pro option
no i am really happy with the colours in color using pri in, sec in, colorFX and pri out, rendered it all but when i send it back to FCP everything is redder well pinkish then what it looks like in color
am i doing something wrong at all
i have tried to adjust the amount of red in color then render and send back but it still looks the same.
im lost can anyone please help
    adam

Yes, you are doing something incredibly wrong. This non-issue is rearing it's ugly head so much it's nauseating. What you are seeing is the display differences between Color and Final Cut Pro. Do a search on all the Color forums and you'll find a host of very similar threads to yours.
The solution is to use a real input/output device like an Aja Kona or Blackmagic Decklink card and send the video signal to a production monitor. Those of us using this infrastructure see none of this non-issue that other users who are relying upon their highly inaccurate computer displays are seeing.
You are at a disadvantage however as there is currently no accurate way to get external monitoring capabilities out of an iMac as it is woefully lacking in expansion capabilities.

  • A question about a difference between CS3 and CS6 (sorry if it's wrong addressed)

When I place in InDesign (both CS3 and CS6) a transparent tif image (CMYK) there is a difference between those created in Photoshop CS3 (correct) and CS6 (white background). Why?

EDIT: With the new InDesign CS6 update (8.1) Photoshop CS6 tifs with transparency import correctly now. Thank you

What the difference between Photoshop CS6 and Elements?

    vitaltheatre wrote:
Photoshop Elements is NOT the same at Photoshop CS6.  Photoshop 6 has transitioned into Creative Cloud (CC)
No there are many versions of Photoshop old versions do not go away. Photoshop is an evolving program each evolution receives a new name and a version number the version number is important when you develop code for Photoshop. So Photoshop 6 is version 6 that evolved to Photoshop 7 version 7 to CS version 8 to CS2 version 9 to CS3 version 10 to CS4 version 11 to CS 5 version 12 to CS6 version 13 to CC version 14 to CC2014 version 15. All exist.  Version 15 is not backwards compatible with any previous version of Photoshop feature and support have been removed and new features and support added.
CS6 though is a bit odd for the are different versions of CS6 the is the perpetual version and the subscription versions and there not the same all do not have the same features.  If you want to split hairs there are actually 5 version of CS6 and if you want to count 32 bit and 64 bit modules there are 8.  There are only 3 version numbers though for CS6 wit all update applied.  Mac perpetual version 13.0.6 Windows perpetual version 13.0.1.3 and the Mac and PC subscription version 13.1.2.  The perpetual versions can be standard or extended Photoshop wher the subscription version is Photoshop extended.
By the same token there are many version of Photoshop Elements.  All version of element  do not many of the features that Photoshop in general has.  Its a lot cheaper and it has much less function then Photoshop.  For many  Elements has all the function that they want.  There is less to learn and Element has some hand holding feature built in for the novice user that is something Photoshop does not have....

  • Colour Mismatch between ACR and CS6

    Hi
I have weird issue with ACR and CS6.  I process under ProPhoto RGB, 16 bit.  When I'm happy with my processing, I then open up in CS6.  This is when it get weird, the image that opens up is quite a bit flatter and less contrasty to the version I had in ACR.  I've got CS6 as a view a ProPhoto RGB profile.  The monitor is an ASUS wide gamut monitor and calibrated with an I1D2 puck using HP's custom software from it's Z-series printer.
I don't experience this problem when I'm using CS6/ACR on my office computer, the only difference is my office machine doesn't have a wide gamut screen.
I've reset my Photoshop preferences and recalibrated my screen.  I'm running W7 Home 64 on a Dell Studio 15, i7 laptop.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks and Merry Christmas!
    Stewart

    Hi,
Those are the settings I'm using, but I expanded to More Options and there was a check box for Compensate for Scene-referred profiles.  When I unchecked that, my image went back to what it should have been.
    Thanks for the fast reply!
    Merry Christmas

  • Difference between CC and CS6

Alright, I am a new user to the Creative Cloud and would like to know which version of photoshop is better. What are the differences between the two verisons? Which should I instal? Etc.
    Thank you!

You can install both. Yhey run independently.
There are many differences that range from simple JDI features to major processing and tool changes.
If you havent used Photoshop at all, and that is why you are a new subscriber then of course you can't go wrong with the latest CC version.

  • CMYK/Pantone differences between CS3 and CS6

I have a file that was created in CS3.  Pantone 534 C was used and the CMYK value that was shown was 100, 80, 30, 5.  When I open the file in CS6 and choose Pantone 534 C, the CMYK value is shown as 98, 85, 36, 27.  Am I going to get the same tone of blue when I print the file from the CS6 version as I did when I printed the file from the CS3 version?
In essence, is the PMS tone that was in CS3 the same PMS tone that is in CS6?  I'm assuming it is, but wanted to confirm.  And can anyone explain why the CMYK values have changed between the two versions if I'm using the same PMS number?

    J,
My problem is, which CMYK values should I use to most closely match the Pantone 534C color?  Should I use the CMYK values in CS3 or CS6 (because they are different numbers)?
I believe someone from Pantone would vote for CS6 because they have changed the values to more closely match the solid colours.
But the proof of the pudding is the eating, so you should try both and see what you think.
Some solid Pantone inks are impossible to match closely with CMYK, and who says that the closer match (by the parameters chosen) is the better/prettier/nicer colour?

Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • Difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD

    Hi,
Please make me clear about the difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD. In which cases we need to use these modules...??
    Thanks,
    Satish

I would suggest to always use the GUI_UPLOAD.  I say this because this is the function module which is used in the GUI_UPLOAD method of the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.   Really, you should probably use the class/method instead of the function module.
      data: filename type string.
      filename = p_file.
      call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload

  • Difference between char and varchar, also the difference between varchar2

    Hi,
Can anyone explain me the difference between char and varchar, and also the difference between varchar and varchar2...

Varchar2 is variable width character data type, so if you define column with width 20 and insert only one character to tis column only, one character will be stored in database. Char is not variable width so when you define column with width 20 and insert one character to this column it will be right padded with 19 spaces to desired length, so you will store 20 characters in the dattabase (follow the example 1). Varchar data type from Oracle 9i is automaticlly promoted to varchar2 (follow example 2)
    Example 1:
    SQL> create table tchar(text1 char(10), text2 varchar2(10))
    2 /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into tchar values('krystian','krystian')
    2 /
    1 row created.
    SQL> select text1, length(text1), text2, length(text2)
    2 from tchar
    3 /
    TEXT1 LENGTH(TEXT1) TEXT2 LENGTH(TEXT2)
    krystian 10 krystian 8
    Example 2:
    create table tvarchar(text varchar(10))
    SQL> select table_name,column_name,data_type
    2 from user_tab_columns
    3 where table_name = 'TVARCHAR'
    4 /
    TABLE_NAME COLUMN_NAME DATA_TYPE
    TVARCHAR TEXT VARCHAR2

    Dear Expert,
I need to know what is the difference between SFP+ and X2! and can I use SFP+ card and module instead of X2?
    Thanks,
    Mohammad Saeed

    Hi,
They are both used for 10Gig interfaces.  The difference is the connector type.
SFP+ is LC and X2 is SC.
You can not put an SFP+ into an X2 slot or X2 optic into a SFP+.
