Colour Format

Hello there,
I am a beginner in Photoshop.I have designed a handbill for a meeting.I have designed it in CMYK mode..I want  to convert it into RGB mode,how can i change it?Please help me.

Good day!
Which CMYK and which RGB?
One can convert with
Image > Mode > …
but the more proper way (because the RGB and CMYK Working Spaces may not always be the intended ones) is
Edit > Convert to Profile

    A comma-separated values (CSV) file stores tabular data (numbers and text) in plain-text form. As a result, such a file is easily human-readable (e.g., in a text editor).re: colours of html output
    interestingly, there are settings in print attributes, but they have no bearing on the output... obviously nothing to do with the html output. Probably best bet is BI Publisher, where you can define your own report templates.

  • RGB or CMYK colour formatting for iPhoto Albums printing.

    Hi.
    I'm putting my first iPhoto Album together. Info given from Apple about what colour format to use for your photos, says to use RGB. While this is corrcet for digital monitors and screens. Mass printing uses CMYK. Any images supplied to a printers in RGB will colour shift when printed in CMYK. No matter what a printer tells you, these colour shifts can be very noticable. I'm an Advertsing Art Director and I've seen the shift that happens.
    I will be checking/colour correting all photos submitted to the iPhoto Album with Adobe Photoshop. And many will very probably undergo some corrections. Be it through levels, curves, hue/saturation, etc. Nothing to anything near an excessive level, but enough to make obvious improvements.
    So I will then be faced with the choice of whether to save the images out in RGB or CMYK.
    Can someone with some technique knowledge, from the iPhoto team, tell me/reasure me why RGB has been specified? And if CMYK wouldn't actually be a preferable colour format to supply in, considering you'll be printing them in CMYK.
    Many Thanks, Jim.

    You're absolutely correct. I was referring to notes make a number of years ago in regards to iPhoto 5  and that RGB was recommended for both books and prints.
    I was confusing CMYK with Grayscale with Dot Gain 20% profile when stating iPhoto didn't support it which it didn't fully support until iPhoto 9.
    In fact I just ran a test with iPhoto 6, 7 and 8 with a CMYK AND GrayScale files with the following results:
    iPhoto 6 (06): wouldn't import CMYK but did GrayScale.  The grayscale file would only display as a black thumbnail and negative full image.  If the DotGain 20% profile was stipped from it the iamge would dispaly normally.
    iPhoto 7 (08): wouldn't import CMYK but did GrayScale.  The grayscale file would only display as a black thumbnail and negative full image.  If the DotGain 20% profile was stipped from it the iamge would dispaly normally.
    iPhoto 8 (09): neither file would import which is surprising:
    iPhoto 9.2.3 (11):  both imported and viewed normally.
    iPhoto 9.4 (11):  both imported and viewed normally.
    In Oct, 2007 I got an email from Apple support with the following:
    Also as iphoto makes a pdf of the book and then uploads it to keep the size down, it doesn't matter if the pics are RGB or CMYK as a pdf is a closed file. But since it is going through prinergy it has an RGB checker so this most be switched off. It is how the software in prinergy handle's it that causes the washed out affect as it takes the Red Green Blue colours and tries to convert to Cyan Magenta Yellow Black. Now the colour spectrum in printing between rgb and cmyk is quite different looking at a colour wheel will show you. The best way i can describe it is if you have a pantone book which has spot on one side and process on the other you can see a colour difference. Or if you use quark open up the colours and again switch between process and spot.
    BUT ONLY CONVERT PICS TO CMYK IF YOU ONLY INTEND TO ORDER BOOKS. IF YOU INTEND TO ORDER PRINTS IT WILL NEED TO BE RGB.
    Here's how i see it:
    1. Apple doesn't want 2 different versions of the pics floating about as running CMYK through a photomachine (as prints you would order in the high street) will not print correctly.
    2. RGb's going through a CMYK press using prinergy will attempt to convert and produce the washed out effect, or yellowing effect BUT will still print.
    So it will use the 2nd option as it will still produce prints normally and books with a slightly washed out effect. Now to most people in the high street, who will notice a difference?
    I have just received my latest book saved as CMYK pics in tiff format and no washed out effect. What i will say is The quality if still not as good as a print. Now we use a docucolour 5252 at work and the colour quality is better. I wonder how often the machine is calibrated and what colour curve it is set to?
    However, I am unable to import a CMYK file in any iPhoto version until iPhoto 9. Go figure.
    Thanks for the feedback.  Hadn't addressed this particular subject in quite a long time.

  • Conditional colour formatting in apex_item select list

    Hello all,
    I am having a select list in my tabular report created using apex_item.
    What user want is the colour formatting of this select list according to the condition.
    Say eg: A select list for departments, I want the departments with employees in different colour as compared to departments with no employees.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Tauceef

    I've got a function in my package for this issue. Maybe it will gives you an idea how to solve this topic. The function is very similar to apex_item.select_list function, but there is a significant different. Displays values and returns values that are separated by two semicolons!
      FUNCTION get_select_list(p_idx NUMBER,
        p_value VARCHAR2 DEFAULT '',
        p_list_value VARCHAR2,
        p_attributes VARCHAR2 DEFAULT '',

        p_null_value VARCHAR2 DEFAULT '',
        p_null_text VARCHAR2 DEFAULT '',
        p_item_id VARCHAR2 DEFAULT '') RETURN VARCHAR2 AS
        v_null VARCHAR2(4000);
        v_output VARCHAR2(4000);
        v_value VARCHAR2(4000);

        v_null := v_null || '</option>';
        IF UPPER(p_show_null) != 'NO' THEN
          v_output := v_output || v_null;
        END IF;
        FOR i IN 1 .. l_vc_fields.COUNT LOOP
          l_vc_return_fields := HTMLDB_UTIL.string_to_table (l_vc_fields(i), ';;');
          v_output := v_output || '<option';
          IF l_vc_return_fields.COUNT = 2 THEN
            v_value := l_vc_return_fields(2);
          ELSE
            v_value := l_vc_return_fields(1);
          END IF;
          v_output := v_output || ' value="' || v_value || '"';
          IF v_value = p_value THEN
            v_output := v_output || ' selected="selected"';
          END IF;
          IF l_vc_return_fields.COUNT = 3 THEN
            v_output := v_output || ' ' || l_vc_return_fields(3);
          END IF;
          v_output := v_output || '>' || l_vc_return_fields(1) || '</option>';
        END LOOP;
        RETURN v_output || '</select>';
      END get_select_list;You can define three values for p_list_value instead of 2. The third value will be used as option attribute:
    SELECT
    my_package.get_select_list(
    1,
    '20',
    'ACCOUNTING;;10,RESEARCH;;20,SALES;;30;;style="background-color: red;",OPERATIONS;;40'
    ) liste FROM dual;function returns
    <select name="f01" >
    <option value="10">ACCOUNTING</option>
    <option value="20" selected="selected">RESEARCH</option>
    <option value="SALES" style="background-color: red;">SALES</option>
    <option value="40">OPERATIONS</option>
    </select>The next step is just to create a function, which provide the string for p_list_value.

  • Colour Format Help

    I am a designer and not a Java programmer - don't hate me - and i am using a small calendar applet on a web page. This has color configured from javascript parameters as follows:
    <param name=bgcolor      value=13684944>
    <param name=bgcolor2      value=14737663>
    <param name=bgcolor3      value=400>
    <param name=t_col1      value=400>
    <param name=t_col2      value=8421520>
    <param name=t_col3      value=14737663>
    Can anyone tell me how these numbers relate to either HEX or RGB. I have tried simply placing RGB figures in there but they do not bear ant relationship to the standard color tables....HELP????!!!!

    Yes, thats true,
    It must be using format like:
    int r = (0x00ff0000)>>16;
    int g = (0x0000ff00)>>8;
    int b = 0x000000ff;
    where r=255, g=255, b=255 this case, but if
    long r = 0x00ff0000;
    long g = 0x0000ff00;
    long b = 0x000000ff;
    which give you r=16711680, g=65280, b=255....make sense?

  • RTF text with background colour - formatting lost in editable RTF export

    Hi
    I have designed a report in CR2008 using XSD datasource.
    I have a field which returns a RTF text. The text comes out correctly when I run the report.
    Scenario:
    1.Background colour (eg Yellow) has been applied to the field
    2.RTF text contains paragraph breaks
    Result
    The background appears for each paragraph and where there a para break, there is white space. In other words, I want the background colour to appear for the entire field. Right now, it appears odd because I have white spaces between each paragraph with the background colour for each paragraph
    Example:
    Text is as below (with RTF coding)
    In a bad mood? Don't worry   according to research, it's good for you.
    An Australian psychology expert who has been studying emotions has found being grumpy makes us think more clearly.
    In contrast to those annoying happy types, miserable people are better at decision making and less gullible, his experiments showed.
    While cheerfulness fosters creativity, gloominess breeds attentiveness and careful thinking, Professor Joe Forgas told Australian Science Magazine.
    My export type is Editable RTF. The background colour is maintained when you choose Word for Windows option or PDF (but this is not what I want to use in the report). Can the background be maintained for Editable RTF? Is there a work around for this problem?
    Thanks

  • Conditional colour formatting lost after pivoting

    Hi All,
    Scenario is, I m reporting on essbase cube, and i have a report with 2 dim Account,TimePeriod and 2 fact columns Actual and ops.
    I have certain accounts which need to be highligted so i do it through conditional formatting in Accounts column. Also the corresponding measures also need to be highlighted which i have done thru conditional fomatting in criteria tab for that measures.
    Now the issue is the Accounts and measures get highlighted in table view but when i do pivot view it just highlights account column only and not the corresponding measures.
    Any input or comments is highly appreciated
    With Regards,
    Pradeesh

    Hi,
    Thanks Stijin and David for your reply. i was out for christmas holidays so cudn't reply. As you have mentioned my problem is the same i.e. 'cross-column conditional formatting'. But the columns that i need to highlight would be in integer format and not in char.
    I wud explain my scenario better. i have a accounts column and other measure columns as shown below. The accounts column is an union of members from different level of different hirarchy of a cube.
    2009/Q3 2009/Q3 2009/Q3 2009/Q3 2009/Q3
    'Accounts' 'Actual' 'Actual%' 'Ops' 'Ops%' 'Act vs Ops'
    A 29 20 39 51 16
    B 100 14 15 66 6
    C 55 44 84 87 4
    D 14 45 25 14 7
    I want the accounts column with entire rows of B and C to be highlighted, that means i want the value 'B 100 14 15 66 6' and 'C 55 44 84 87 4' to be highlighted.

  • RGB colour output format via HDMI/DP

    Hey Guys,
    So i just bought a Dell u2410 screen the other day, and decided to hook it up via HDMI, It's being used for photo-editing, I tried to calibrate it, but in the sRGB mode i need to use the colours come out terrible, Reds are orange, etc. The screen itself, and it's settings arn't the problem. The problem is the Colour output of the MacBook, over HDMI and DisplayPort I've found it outputs the old YPbPr colour format, which for me is useless. if i connect it via VGA it'll output proper RGB colour format, but VGA is pretty crappy, and i ideally need to use a Digital output, I've searched all over the net for a solution, but haven't found one. one thing i did find is it will supposedly output RGB over DVI, but alas i don't have a DVI cable and do not wish to have to buy one...
    so what i want to know, is it possible to change the output colour format for HDMI and DisplayPort to RGB instead of YPbPr?
    Note 1: If i boot into Win7 via BootCamp it outputs RGB and has the option for YPbPr...
    Note 2: It isn't the ICC colour profile that's the problem.

    Thanks for the link to the Dell discussion forum.
    Reading that thread and half a dozen others on the Apple forum is really a sad day for me, having owned every single iphone, ipad, Mac mini, MacBook Pro that Apple has put out, the latest Retina MBP has completely disappointed me. It seems neither Dell nor Apple care about the users who need the correct color space for digital photography.
    I bought the latest and greatest MacBook Pro this year and it doesn't connect to an external monitor in the correct color space for me to do digital photography? This is really a sad situation. Will be returning it as soon as I migrate the data out.
    I would gladly buy an Apple Thunderbolt display, but just can't stand its glare, not to mention it's limited resolution @2560x1200 which is smaller than the 30" @2560x1600.

  • RGB CMYK PDF EXPORT.(colour conversion)  Keeping your colours vibrant and your blacks black.

    Ive been tearing my hair out for the best part of 14 hours trying to figure out how to keep the closest possible conversion for working with images(rgb in photoshop) right the way through a work flow until exporting to print (having used the image in Indesign).  Here is the process I have been trying to get right.
    1) working with RGB photo images in photoshop and converting them to CMYK (whilst holding on to as much colour as poss)
    2) Importing them to Indesign and retaining the correct colours while working with them)
    3) Exporting to high quality print and having all your colours stay 100% the same as you saw them within indesign.
    I believe I have the solution so I posted my settings below to see if its the best way of doing things and to help others who might be having the same problems.
    The problem
    The problem is that there are many different colour models/profiles (both in RGB and CMYK) and each program can effect how the next one handles and stores colour.  It can become frustrating knowing where to go in order to set the settings correctly  as the combination of things to consider can make it confusing.
    I understand many other people have similar problems and finding RGB blacks come out as grey.  CMYK spaces get converted from one type to another either from one program to the next or even as things move around one program (causing all sorts of wonderful,colour errors)  Plus you have imported colour profiles, working colour profiles and export profiles.  All of which can interact and effect each other) So getting it all consistent is key other wise colours change and get washed out.   Especially vibrant colours like greens and blues. they fade etc.
    Through sheer trial and error and perciverance I found a combination of settings that worked well for me.
    Since I am not an expert I wanted to post up my settings to:
    1) see if this is the best way of doing things.
    2) Other people may find them useful if they had the same problems I had,
    The Solution
    In photoshop
    Save the photoshop image in CMYK by selecting:
    Edit > Convert to prfile.
    (in destination space)
    select: Euroscale Coated v2   (I think this holds the colours the truest of all CMYK colour formats.)
    (in conversion options)
      - Engine: Adobe ACE
      - Intent: Perceptual.
      - Check Use black point Compensation.
    (leave all else unchecked)
    Save the image ready to place in indesign (place rather than copy and paste.).
    In Indesign
    edit > colour settings   (make sure you click on the advanced tick box to open more options)
      - Working space: =
      - RGB:  sRGB IEC....
      - CMYK Euroscale coated v2
      - RGB & CMYK convert to working space.
      - Engine Adobe ACE
      - Perceptual
      - Use black point compensation
    edit > Assign profiles
      - RGB profile. > Assign current workspace: sRGB IE
      - CMYK > Assign current work space Euroscale Coated V2
      - Solid colour intent : preceptual
      - Default image intent
      - After blending intent:  Perceptual.
    edit > convert to profile.  (use similar as above).
    edit > Preferences > Apprearance of black
      - on screen / export : Display all blacks as enriched black
      - Priniting and export : Display all blacks as enriched black
    Overprint: (not checked)
    ------ when exporting to PDF ----------
    File > Export
    in GENERAL TAB
      - Adobe PDF preset: High quality print.
      - Standard (drop down menu): PDF/X-42008
      - Compatability: Acrobat 5 PDF1:4
    in OUTPUT
      - COlour conversion: Convert to destination
      - Destination:  Working CMYK Euroscale Coated v2
    in PDF/X
      - Output intent profile name: Working CMYK - Euroscale Coated v2
    also:
    If you are having problems with fill blacks not coming out as proper black then use registration instead of black from the swatch panel.
    The above may seem either obvious to most of you or possibly not the best way of doing things but since the results worked for me and I found them tough to arrive at, it may be of use to others hence my post.
    I would like your feedback on this process, have I done something wrong / could do better?  If so please let me know.  I am keen to improve.

    I would copy and paste into InDesign forum. Text should stay 100% black. Any other black (like solid boxes or thick lines), I usually use a rich black swatch I created at 40/40/40/100. Looks 10 times better than just 100% black.

  • [Repost] DisplayPort HDMI Colour Problems

    This is a repost from the MacBook Pro forums - hoping someone here might be able to help
    I've got a late 2011 MacBook Pro (with the Radeon 6770M card).  When certain conditions are met:
    1. The machine is booted with the lid closed (it sits in a BookArc stand);
    2. It is connected to an external display via the DisplayPort connector to an HDMI display;
    3. It is booted into Windows under Boot Camp; and
    4. The laptop lid is opened after boot.
    ...then the colour goes all... screwy.  Here's what I mean.  First picture is what the display colour should look like (as shown on the external monitor).  Second picture is what it looks like on the MBP's inbuilt screen.
    This is driving me bananas.  I've tried a couple of different things:
    1. Boot Camp 4.0 drivers;
    2. Boot Camp 4.1 drivers;
    2a. Boot Camp 5.0 drivers;
    3. A different monitor cable;
    4. A different external monitor;
    5. A complete rebuild of OS X and Windows;
    6. AMD native beta drivers (13.5).
    Nothing's fixed it.  I used to have a similar MBP, but with the 6750M card and that worked fine with the same connectors/stand/monitor/etc.  The workaround is to boot it with the lid open, which is kind of a pain (in a first-world-problems kind of way).
    I'm guessing there's a magic setting inside either Boot Camp control panel or drivers or even Windows itself that controls how it behaves with external monitors and colour settings and stuff like that, but I can't work it out.
    Help?

    I have also tried Boot Camp 5 (5.0.2) drivers, no dice.
    And spent hours mucking about with the Catalyst Control Centre for things like pixel colour format, and assigning different profiles using Windows Colour Management.
    I'm getting the strong feeling this is something quite specific to how the card is initialised in certain states, and at a level low enough to be hidden from the user.

  • Excel Colour problems

    I have been revamping a lot of test certificate documentation and have come across a peculiar error.
    I create these documents from a standard sheet so that i can keep certain aspects consistent.
    I noticed that when i had printed some of the sheets, one document in particular will not print in the same colour as the rest of the documents.
    This is very strange as i do not tamper with colour options and they have all been created on the same computer by myself and all within a reasonable time frame. This one, is in fact, somewhere in the middle of this time-frame.
    Please help. It is aggravating my OCD.....

    Hi ThereIsNoSpoon236,
    Based on my understanding, you think that colors that print out look different from the colors on your PC screen. Is it right?
    First ensure your monitor, printer,
    and Windows all adhere to the same colour profile, such as sRGB
    If there is anything I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back. This is a lowest-common-denominator approach, which probably won't make the most of your printer's capabilities, but it will ensure that all devices are working in the same
    colour format and minimise unexpected variations.
    We can try these methods to adjust for the color differences
    Method 1: Disable ICM for the printer
    Method 2: Install the most current Windows printer driver
    Method 3: Contact your printer manufacturer to obtain the most recent printer driver

  • Please help.. hyperlinks keep changing colour

    Please help..
    I am working in Iweb 3.0.03 on a macbook (chrome installed)..
    When I set the colours of the hyperlinks they are in grey but when I ftp the pages all the browsers change the hyperlink text to red? How can I stop this from happening? I am formatting the colours and on my macbook and everything looks how it should how I upload?
    Could anyone please help..
    Many thanks

    Yes, all hyperlinks on every page are meant to be the same colour format.
    I use transit as an ftp
    I might just change all the colouring to look the same..
    Thanks alot
    Are all of the hyperlinks at the left supposed to have the same color format? If so select one, reset all of the colors and click on the Use for New Links on Page button. Then publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and check it locally with your browser to see if the colors are as they should be.
    Are you hosting your site at a 3rd party server or on a MobileMe account? If it's a 3rd party hosting server publish to a folder on your hard drive and check the site locally with your browser. If the colors are good then the problem lies in the uploading of the file.
    H\how are you uploading the files? With iWeb or a 3rd party FTP client? If it's iWeb try using the free FTP client Cyberduck to upload the site folder and the index.html file.
