Colour issues when editing in CS6

I am currently using Lightroom 4.1. When I "command E" to edit in Photoshop CS6, the image opens in Photoshop with a different colour cast. I have checked and the colour space for both is the same (ProPhotoRGB). My monitor is callibrated with Spyder 3 Express. I have deleted the profile as I assumed it to be corrupt and have re-run the callibration, but no difference. Any suggestions?
Following on from this, I have now discovered the problem, but don't know how to fix it. The images were shot with a Nikon D700. When I go into develop mode in Lightroom, I can see that under Camera Callibration it is set to Adobe Standard. If I export it now to Photoshop, there is a colour shift. If I change it to ACR 4.6, the colours shift in Lightroom and they now match when I export. Can anyone explain what is happening please? Do I have to change the profile to ACR 4.6 before I do any work on each image?
Many thanks,
Gil.

It should't happen. Can you post an example?

  • Audio playback issues when editing quick swipe comp folders.

My new Imac running ML 10.8.2 is having issues when I want to edit drums tracks that I have grouped together. I recorded the tracks before grouping them. After opening group settings and checking the 'editing (selection)' and 'phase locked audio boxes' I get a spinning beach ball for 10sec. I then expand my take folders to start editing and the computer performance becomes very sluggish and playback stutters and crackles, sometimes turning well recorded drum tracks into a non recognizable mush as various tracks are playing at once. It appears that when I group the tracks together prior to recording and check the necessary boxes that quick swipe editing works fine. When I open old projects on my new iMac that were recorded running Snow Leopard and my old MacBook Pro that use comp editing, it all works smoothly and I can continue editing no problems. So does this mean that these new tracks are somehow corrupted? How can I rescue them? I can't figure it out! I used to be able to set up groups and edit after recording raw on my old setup, surely this is some kind of bug caused from the upgrade to 10.2.8 and/or Logic 9.1.8? It's nothing to do with my Pro 40 interface I don't think as I unplug it and the problem is still audible through built in speakers. Might the recording be corrupt due to connecting Saffire pro 40 via a firewire 800 to thunderbolt adapter?
I've tried copying/pasting regions into a new project, the regions are all the same length, there are no plugins on the channel strips, the recordings sound fine until I try to edit them, sample rate is consistent (24/48). The main difference to making editing possible seems to be grouping prior to recording or not, which shouldn't make a difference should it? Anyone who can shed a little light on this situation, I will be forever appreciative to! I've got work that needs doing ASAP!
    My setup is:
    iMac, i7 3.1Ghz, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Mountain Lion 10.2.8
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 (connected to thunderbolt port via thunderbolt==>firewire 800 adapter)

    Anyone?
This is serioulsy BS, it was all working fine before I went and upgraded everything and now it is worse than prior to upgrading. That's not how it's supposed to work.

  • No export dialog when edit in CS6

When i am clicking rmb and choose edit in cs6 there is no export dialog like i had before ( export with lightroom settings, copy or original)
My cr2 opening in cs without changes i made in LR ????
Pls help find answer, i have a lot work to do

If Photoshop's Camera Raw matches or is more recent than Lightroom's Camera Raw equivalent, you won't get the message box you're expecting when you pass a raw file to PS. You will get that box if you pass a non-raw image file.
In your case, if PS is up-to-date, you won't see that box if you pass a CR2 file. PS will come up with the image showing all the LR edits.

  • Performance Issues when editing large PDFs

We are using Adobe 9 and X Professional and are experiencing performance issues when attempting to edit large PDF files.  (Windows 7 OS). When editing PDFs that are 200+ pages, we are seeing pregnated pauses (that feel like lockups), slow open times and slow to print issues.
Are there any tips or tricks with regard to working with these large documents that would improve performance?

You said "edit." If you are talking about actual editing, that should be done in the original and a new PDF created. Acrobat is not a very good editing tool and should only be used for minor, critical edits.
If you are talking about simply using the PDF, a lot depends on the structure of the PDF. If it is full of graphics, it will be slow. You can improve this performance by using the PDF Optimize to reduce graphic resolution and such. You may very likely have a bloated PDF that is causing the problem and optimizing the structure should help.
Be sure to work on a copy.

  • Keyword problems when editing with CS6

In LR 4.2 and 4.3, when I edit with photoshop and use lightroom corrections, LR creates a new file.  I edit it in CS6 and save and close.  Back in LR, the file is there, the proper keywords are highlighted and there, but LR cannot find that file.  In other words, LR does not recognize the photoshop keywords.
I am using Win 7 64.  My catalog has less than 1,000 images.  My master catalog has 25,000 with the same problem.
As I understand it, when you edit in Photoshop with LR corrections, LR creates a new file and PS takes in.  PS sends info to LR when it is done.  If I edit a photo selected with a keyword and I can only see that image, when I get back to LR the screen is grey and no image is found.  I can find the photo in the folder.
My workaround is to delete the keyword and reenter.  In a small database with few keywords, clunky.  In the real world, very difficult.

I have been using lightroom since verison 1 (actually I owned the precursor, I forget the name).
    Step by step
    1.  Select image.  Add unique keyword.  enter.  Keyword is now in the keyword box and highlighted in recent keywords.
    2.  click on keyword to select all images with that keyword.  Highlist the test image.
    2.  Right click the image.select "edit in ..."  "Edit it in CS6..."  Then "Edit a copy with lightroom adjustments"    (edit a copy- same issue)
    3.  CS6 opens and the file selected is open.  Convert to B&W (anything).  Control -s to save.  Control - w to close.
    4.  Goto lightrooom..  New edited image in the folder, but invisible to keyword.  The number of images associated with that keyword gets larger by one.
In my system, the key step is step 2.  If I add a keyword and edit from the folder everything is fine.  If I have selected or filtered by keywords, the edited image does not index for that keyword.
Is this me?  I guess my workaround now would be to edit images from the folder view/

  • Issue when editing songs in "Get Info"

    Hi there!
I've been having this issue for quite a while now. At first I was able to deal with it, but now it's getting pretty annoying.
My issue is the two options to go to the next song or previous song have dissappeared when I'm editing songs in the get info tab. I have made sure that I am editing songs in an album, but the problem is still happening.
The red circle is where the buttons usually are. I'm not sure if iTunes has taken these options away with the newer updates, or if I clicked something by mistake. If someone else had this problem and figured out how to fix it, it would be great if you could share how with me!
    Thanks,
    melongeee

The buttons should be there. As a workaround do Alt+P and Alt+N still perform the Previous and Next functions?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Colour issues when Producing iBA assets from InDesign

    Hi there
This is just a heads-up for those that produce any assets for eventual use in iBooks Author in InDesign. Watch out for colour matching issues.  The RGB values in inDesign do not often produce the same colours in iBA. Why would someone be using InDesign in the first place? Well you might use InDesign to work out page layouts, or to produce the TOC backgrounds (so that Chapters can feature individual colour ways), or for creating images with text for use in HTML widgets. It's just quicker/easier at handling text and managing styles.
Anyway - here's the issue. Try this: Create an colour with a specific RGB value in InDesign, export it as a jpg, and import it to iBA. Then create a shape within iBA with exactly the same RGB values. The two colours may differ. We have tried selecting different colour management options in InDesign, and even turning it off completely, but the colours still differ.
We created an image in Photoshop with a certain RGB value. That looked fine in iBA, and had kept the correct RGB value (using the colour sample tool to test it). We took a .jpg exported from InDesign (with the same RGB value within InDesign), opened it in Photoshop, and although the two images in Photoshop reported the same RGB value, they were clearly different to look at. When the InDesign image was brought into iBA, it's colour sample tool reported a differing set of RGB values.
So, if you have some assets where you need a reliable colour match you have a few choices:
    1) Don't use InDesign - use Illustrator or Photoshop
    2) If you must use InDesign - then export the assets as RGB PDFs with no colour management, open in Photoshop and export to jpg from there.
    3) If you're using colour ways, create the image from InDesign, but don't use the same RGB values that InDesign has to create elements in iBA. Sample the image using the colour sampler, and use the resulting RGB values to create your items.
Like I say - it's not really an Apple issue, but those who use iBA with InDesign are better off pre warned, so I thought that I would be better off posting it here than in Adobe's forums.

Publisher can create CMYK files, you go save as, then choose PDF, then click on Options or something and change it to Commercial Press.  This is Microsoft's version of the Press Quality export setting in Indesign, with it converting all images to CMYK, downsampling to 300dpi etc.
NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS WAY TO CREATE PRINT FILES FROM PUBLISHER!!!!
    Have I made myself clear?
The CMYK images created this way have a terrible sort of under colour removal.  Think for example of a dark blue garment, where most of the garment is  something like 100C 60M 0Y 60K, but in the shadows it goes darker than  that, up to 100K.  Well in that area of 95 to 100% black in the image Publisher will convert it to only that, with no other colours underneath it.  But the areas surrounding it will be rich black.  This won't show up on digital proofs, even hi res ripped inkjets, and won't even show up on a press pass unless the machine has drying, because it is not until the ink dries off that you notice these weird photos....  Anyway what I do has already been said above.
    1. Refry it first.
    2. You should be able to sync your settings.
    3. No, it just thinks it can.
In this case I actually had the Publisher files as well, so I printed them to PDF using Acrobat, and the images were fine.  Problem is the client had gotten used to text and other elements the way they looked using Publishers crappy CMYK export so I had to combine that with the proper images by cropping in Indesign..
    Here's examples of what happens:
    CMY channels only, BAD!
    CMY channels only, GOOD!

  • Slow down issue when editing in Presenter 8

One of our Presenter users just new to Presenter 8 (Until recently used Presenter 6 with no issues), imported a mp3 file into the first slide of a PowerPoint presentation. Here is the description of the editing issue:
The issue is that when we are editing the audio in presenter 8, there is significant gaps in the time it takes. The system seems to be “thinking” after we make the changes and then go back and look at them. Like there is something running in the background. It is on every slide and after every edit. So you remove a 1 sec “um” and the system has to think before can move on to next edit. This adds up to significant production time increase. I would say 4x production time increase.
This is too significant of a performance issue to justify moving to Presenter 8 if not addressed.

I've just launched PS Elements more than ten times while holding down on these keys.  Elements launches, but absolutely nothing else happens.
At first, I thought that perhaps this keystroke combination might only work on a Windows computer.  But with your information in hand, I went into the Elements help file, and found that this is indeed the keystroke combination to use on a Mac.  However, this keystroke combination definitely does nothing on my computer.
If you tell me what this preference file is called, or where it is stored on a Mac, I'll delete it manually.

  • Colour issues when printing

    Hi,
We have just installed a A3 HP Laserjet CP5225 printer. All is well apart from when printing PDFs from acrobat pro. For some reason greys are coming out green and other colours are off. When I print from the Preview App it prints fine so I am assuming its an Acrobat Pro issue. When the same document is printed from within acrobat reader on a windows machine it prints fine.
Any ideas? Is this a common issue with Acrobat Pro on OSX?
    Cheers
    Michael

First the the Driver for the Mac(s) up to date for the OS you are using. Is it possible to have it installed on the server if its going to be used on a network.
Some printers allow you to adjust the color through the Print Driver
example here with my Printer also a Hp but a inkjet instead.
    Screenshot example: http://screencast.com/t/ZDM1NDI0
Note if you change this click on click standrd button and scroll down to bottom of page choose save as and give a name associated with acrobat
    example Acrobat Color Balance shifted.
    screenshot example: http://screencast.com/t/NTgwMmU4Njk
In this screenshoot I show all the different preset I have.
then when you need to print from Acrobat or Reader on the Mac.  you just choose the preset.

  • Premiere Pro CS3-CONSTANT Memory issues when editing/rendering/exporting

Alright, as said in the title I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and my issues are horrendous
No matter what, within 10 minutes of editing, Premiere will warn and then crash because of memory issues, starting with the message:
"Adobe Premiere Pro is running very low on system memory; please save your project and proceed with caution"
Also, whenever I try to export this project, within 800 frames of a 7000 frame project (currently), it displays the message:
"Error Compiling Movie", and then the previous message above if that hasn't already happened before
And eventually, the program will crash out of nowhere, with random windows errors
    Here's my specs:
    Intel i7 920 Processor
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia 480 GTX
    750 watt power supply
    24" Dell Ultrasharp Monitor
Now, I've noticed that whenever Premiere is getting close to crashing, my RAM gets up to around 4.7 GB being used, and then it crashes.
I have already gone into Edit-Preferences and tried switching from Performance to Memory; that hasn't fixed anything
I noticed that when I was just running my video over and over again, it stayed stable at 4 GB or so, so maybe its a rendering issue?
I have already tried lowering my number of processes running at any given time, including my antivirus program (Kaspersky) and even explorer, but it still crashes no matter what.
    ========================================================================================== ========
This is a SERIOUS issue for me, as even with all the normal crashes I could finish the video; but now I cannot even export my video at ALL without it crashing, and I have a plenty strong-enough computer to handle this, so what gives?
    Please help

Ok, well this has been getting me nowhere
I tried importing (both my CTRL-X method, and literally importing the project), and now the program won't even RENDER the footage, it just errors out at 800 frames (just like exporting)
    What is going on???
I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 all the time, on a separate computer, but I have 6 GB of RAM, is this really impossible???
    EDIT:
And now, even after finally getting it to render (by saving after rendering before what crashed, and then starting it up and rendering again), all my footage looks like crap XP

  • Solution:  iMac Address Book - Issues when Editing or Deleting Contacts

Is there a way to select a bunch of similarly posted questions and propose to "ALL" an answer or solution?
Hardware & Version: I have the iMac OS X Lion 10.7.4  (as of this writing)
Every so often, after updates, there seems to be rights issues with some apps, such as Address Book and iTunes, especially for iMacs with one or more non-admin accounts.
But somehow, even using the Admin account to give Read/Write access to some relevant user folders (AddressBook folder of that user in this case) does nothing to allow the editing or deleting of those contacts.
Here is the solution that worked for me, without losing all my contacts:  (just in case, backup all files and contacts prior to these steps...)
1 - open Address Book app
2 - right-click a contact that you cannot edit or delete
    3 - select "Spotlight: <contact name>"
4 - Finder will open and show all files pertaining to that contact (select View as Columns from the menu)
5 - find the file that has "Address Book Card Data" next to the "Kind" value (the file icon will look like those Roladex cards)
6 - right-click the file and select "Open Enclosing Folder"
7 - another Finder window opens to show the Metadata folder location of the file
8 - now stretch the window until you see the AddressBook folder containing the Metadata folder
9 - Quit Address Book app
10 - right-click the AddressBook folder and select "Move to Trash"
11 - launch the Address Book app
You should now be able to edit and delete contacts.

  • Audio issues when editing video clips

Sorry if this been asked before and I’m having trouble looking for the answers on my own. I will start by saying that I have the latest built of Premiere and that’s CS4.2
I’m trying to edit 720 60p clips natively from my Panasonic GH1 camcorder and I have it set to interpret footage to 29.97 for slow motion. Its edits very well but sometimes when I use the razor tool to split a file, the second part of that clip will no longer play the audio.  I even noticed a clip that had the audio missing half way when I didn’t even use the razor tool. Another time it was several clips in a row that was missing the audio.
This isn’t the first time. I was trying to edits clips on standard speed and I noticed that one of the clips couldn’t play the audio. I ended up saving everything and restart Premiere and luckily the audio was their. This time, with the slow motion clips, restarting Premiere is no help at all. I could start over on a fresh time line but I want to see if theirs any other solutions first.
I hope I was clear enough.

This is a shameless bump to get someone to attempt to give me an idea what to do... or even tell me a better way to copy DVD that I own onto an IPod

  • Colour issues when opnenig JPG files ins Fireworks

    Hello.
I am having trouble when opening JPG files in Fireworks CS5. The colours are all messed up.
If I open the same fire with Photoshop or other viewers the file is fine but I can´t seem to fix this in Fireworks.
Here is a pic opened in FIreworks and WIndows Viewer:
If I copy and paste from Photoshop to Fireworks it goes well. Also if I open a TIFF in Fireworks it´s seen correctly.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thank you.

Fireworks isn't color managed, whereas Photoshop is. Depending on the color profile attached to the image, the difference in rendering could be minimal or very noticeable.

  • [BUG] Performance Issue When Editing Large FIles

Are other people experiencing this on the latest JDevelopers (11.1.1.4.0 and the version before it) ?
People in the office have been experiencing extremely slow performance happening seemingly at random while editing Java files. We have been using JDev for almost 10 years and this has only become an issue for us recently. Typically we only use the Java editing and the database functionality in JDev.
I have always felt that the issue has been related to network traffic created by Clearcase and have never really paid attention, but a few days ago after upgrading to the latest version of JDev, for the first time I started having slowdowns that are affecting my speed of work and decided to look into it,
The main symptom is the editor hanging for an unknown reason in the middle of typing a line (even in a comment) or immediately after hitting the carriage return. All PCs in the office have 2Gig or more RAM and are well within recommended spec.
I've been experimenting for a few days to try and determine what exactly is at the root of the slowness. Among the things I have tried:
o cutting Clearcase out of the equation; not using it for the project filesystem; not connectiing to it in JDev
o Not using any features other than Java editing in JDev (no database connections)
o never using split panes for side by side editing
o downloading the light version of JDev
o Increasing speed of all pop-ups/dynamic helpers to maximum in the options
o disabling as many helpers and automations as possible in the options
None of these have helped. Momentary freezes of 3-5 seconds while editing are common. My basic test case is simply to move the cursor from one line to another and to type a simple one-line comment that takes up most of the line. I get the freeze most usually right after typing the "//" to open the comment - it happens almost 100% of the time.
I have however noticed a link to the file size/complexity.
If I perform my tests on a small/medium sized file of about 1000 lines (20-30 methods) performance is always excellent.
If I perform my test on one of our larger files 10000 lines ( more than 100 methods) the freezes while editing almost always occur.
It looks like there is some processor intensive stuff going on (which cannot be turned off via the options panel) which is taking control of the code editor and not completing in a reasonable amount of time on large Java files. I have a suspicion that it's somehow related to the gutter on the right hand side which show little red and yellow marks for run-time reports of compile errors and warnings and haven't found any way to disable it so I can check.

    Just a small follow-up....
It looks like the problem is happening on only a single Java file in our product! Unfortunately it happens to be the largest and most often updated file in the project.
I'm still poking around to figure out why JDev is choking consistently on this one particular file and not on any of the others. The size/complexity is not much bigger than the next largest which can be edited without problems. The problem file is a little unusual in that it contains a large number of static functions and members.
    Nice little mystery to solve.

  • Colour Issues when Printing T-Shirts

Printing logos onto black t-shirts - the logo is red but comes out orange when finally printed onto shirt.
Any ideas if theres a particular red I can set it to to take away that orange hue
Apologies if this is a stupid question but Im really struggling

    Hi Houdidontblog,
This problem could be caused by "out of gamut" viewing, usually caused by over-saturation of the color. Try printing in "Relative Colorimetric" as the easy fix. If that doesn't work, try lessening the saturation levels.
    Thanks
