Colour issues when opnenig JPG files ins Fireworks

Hello.
I am having trouble when opening JPG files in Fireworks CS5. The colours are all messed up.
If I open the same fire with Photoshop or other viewers the file is fine but I can´t seem to fix this in Fireworks.
Here is a pic opened in FIreworks and WIndows Viewer:
If I copy and paste from Photoshop to Fireworks it goes well. Also if I open a TIFF in Fireworks it´s seen correctly.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thank you.

Fireworks isn't color managed, whereas Photoshop is. Depending on the color profile attached to the image, the difference in rendering could be minimal or very noticeable.

Hello.   The link FAQ: How do I troubleshoot audio issues when importing .MTS files?
does not work, and i need the answer please. My imported MTS clips are not playing back audio because it seems that no audio imported with the video.   Thanks, Don.

    Hi there
Audio plays when the object with the audio assigned appears. This is why you hear it when the Button appears.
Try assigning the audio instead to the object that appears when you click the button. Perhaps the caption.

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

Whenever you get stuck in a customer-service situation that goes nowhere, as soon as you become aware of the futility, get the name and employee ID of the person, then say, "I don't mean to be rude, I think we're both wasting our time. Perhaps you weren't trained for this issue, or perhaps your system isn't displaying the correct information. It doesn't matter, because I'm not getting proper customer support this way. The point is that you're a customer, and the company needs customers, so the individual who's failing to deliver good service needs to be identified so they can be properly trained, and so that problems in the system can also be identified, but more important is that you get the service you're entitled to.
If you search the forum for similar questions, you'll see the kind of information that the volunteer users like yourself on the forum need to know about your system and files involved, so they can help you better.

  • Wrong embedded colour profile causes huge jpg files when published to .Mac

D'oh! i posted the following on the iDisk discussion my mistake. Here it is all again for iWebbites:
I've spent most of the day trying to optimise my new iWeb site on .Mac but the published jpg files are far too big.
Despite sizing to 800x600 px and jpegging at about 5 or 6 in Photoshop which resulted in a file size of about 100kb on my local disk, when uploaded to .Mac via iWeb the they have turned into 800 kb files.
Lots of trouble-shooting, including ensuring that they weren't converted to png, that they have no borders, reflections or drop-shadows yet they still got bloated on the upload. Especially the photos in the photo-gallery page.
I've isolated the problem but don't know what to do next:
Turns out, iWeb ignores the sRGB embedded colour profile and replaces it with the monitor profile of the originating computer.
I discovered this after I opened the file in Photoshop directly via iDisk in Finder. Converting or assigning the file to sRGB and saving it back down to iDisk immediately restored it to its intended file size of 100kb and this time with the correct sRGB colour profile.
Going now to the domain.sites on my local disk and opening the package shows all the photos doubled up. A 360 x 264 .jpeg file with the monitor profile embedded and bloated out to 800kb plus the original 800x600 image with sRGB and .jpg as the file type but still only 100kb
So what the heck is happening in iWeb to do this and to use the wrong file type associations with the wrong file when uploaded?
There is very little on the forum about colour (color) profiles and no mention of the bloat in file size, just a reference to colour and tone issues with the wrong profile so I'm wondering if its related to the 1.1.2 update. (I haven't really tried using iWeb until the last week or so).
Fixing the problem by post processing the photos on my site every time I publish would be impossible with the amount of photos I have and my intention of updating the web galleries regularly.
As you can find out if you go to a photo page on my site:
< <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://web.mac.com/adrian_malloch/iWeb/AdrianMallochPhotography/ Kabaddi.html > some pages take horrendously long to load. Check out some of the other Subculture pages. I haven't tested them all but Safari Activity viewer shows that most of the slow speed is related to opening jpeg files.
Any help and informed suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

This is doing my head in.
My last two comments "posted" half way through writing, before I had a chance to edit completely.
Here's how it should have read :
Using sRGB as a monitor profile, in itself, doesn't make a lot of sense.
A monitor profile is custom made specifically for the monitor to compensate for its display characteristics.
A "good enough" monitor profile is to use the software calibration built into the Displays preferences. Go to System Preferences/Displays/Color/Calibrate and follow the prompts. Hint: squint as you try to judge the colour and tone differences. The idea is to make the detail so fuzzy you don't notice it.
It's not very accurate, especially with LCD screens, but it's better than nothing and certainly better than using a universal colour space like sRGB, etc.
The accurate option is to get hold of a hardware calibrator like the Spyder, or Gretag-McBeth iOne Display (which I use). It costs a bit but is vital for accurate repeatable colour.
The whole point is that when the profile is made up and is set as the default profile, then you will get a WYSIWYG screen.
So, the same images will look the same on different monitors providing they each have accurate monitor profiles made specifically for them.
If you use sRGB as your monitor profile then you cannot expect the image to look the same on any one else's machine, whether they use sRGB, a monitor profile or any other profile. Worse still, if you change an image to "look right" on your screen, chances are that the image will look horrible on another screen.
Hence, why I will only switch to sRGB monitor profile as a workaround for uploading in iWeb. Nothing else!!

  • Illustrator CS6 color issues when saving JPG

I have recently gotten rid of the Pantone+ color books and replaced them with the old color books, using the "Workaround 1: Replace Pantone Plus with older Pantone color books" help from Adobe. Followed all of the instrauctions and had no issues until two weeks ago. Then suddenly when saving PDFs I had to start changing the output Color Conversion to ' convert to destination'. I never had to take this extra step before. Now if I do not do this it saves some colors as black. Whatever, I got over that and take the extra step.
TODAY, now I can't even save JPGs without color issues. Some JPGs save correctly. Then I use the same color in a different file, and it saves completely different. Same color profiles, swatch options, blah blah blah.
Someone help me. I am extremely fed up with these issues. Like everyone else, this is my job and now it is making a huge impact on my work...

What program are you using to view the PDFs?

  • Why are no Pentax lenses in the Adobe Camera Raw lens profiles when processing JPG files?

I normally shoot and process raw files and use the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw for processing. Some of these files are converted to jpg for use on the net or e-mailing etc. Sometimes I want to make minor changes to the now converted jpg file and often go to Adobe Camera Raw for ease and speed of use. Lately I have gone back to some files that were not thoroughly processed as raw files before conversion to jpg. When, in ACR, I go to Lens Corrections panel, Profile tab, I Enable Lens Profile Corrections and choose Setup: Auto (or Default) and get the message, "Unable to locate a matching lens profile automatically".
I then go down to Lens Profile and click on Make with the intention of choosing the Pentax lens which I used for the photo. Here is the problem - there are only six choices under make, namely Apple, Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Sony and Tamron. I have no such issues when processing a raw file in Adobe Camera Raw. Pentax lenses are automatically detected and Pentax, along with Leica, Samsung, Zeiss, etc. are choices under Make of lens.
Do other people have this problem? Is there some setting I have missed? Is Adobe just not permitting some makers' lenses, for which there are profiles, to be corrected if the files are jpgs?
BTW, I have checked and the same issues exist for tiff files opened in ACR.

Assuming I read your post correctly, and that you're trying to use Lens corrections on JPEGs and TIFFs...  I believe there's a completely different set of profiles for correcting already "developed" images (such as JPEGs and TIFFs).  If I recall correctly (and it's been a while since I read about this), it's the same set that's used inside Photoshop for the Filter - Lens Correction tool (I hope someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I read this somewhere).
If your lenses are known to Camera Raw when you develop raw files, I suggest you will need to go all the way back to your Raw file and reprocess it from that stage.  You'll get a better result anyway.

  • Colour shift when placing PSD files into illustrator

    Hi there
I have tested this issue on CS 3,4 and 5.
bascially if I create a CMYK document with a colour image and save this down as a psd file with the coated Fogra 39 embedded in it. If I create a new file within Illustrator with the same colur management and place the psd file into the document and check the link option (so it is a linked file), the colour shifts when using the colour picker. If I print the document from each APP they visually look different as well.
If I place the psd into illustrator without selecting the link option the colour has the same CMYK values as the psd within Photoshop and also prints correctly.
i can only assume that there is an option somewhere in regards to the "link" option and how this changes tha colour values somewhere? If not is there anyway I can get around this issue so I can use linked files without the CMYK values changing?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    Hi guys
    Thanks for the responses.
I use bridge to blanket the colour settings so this i feel this is not the issue here. If you have a moment and would kindly create a colour tint within PS of what ever colour, save this down as any format and place this into illustrator with the link checkbox checked you will see the colour data has physically changed for the CMYK values. This results in the prints looking different as well. If you deselct the link check box when placing the file the CMYK values are the same.
I tried the overprint preview option. This changes the viewable colour on screen but not the CMYK data of the file.
There seems to be a fundamental floor with this link option for some reason.
I might have phone Adobe direct for this iisue as I cannot find a fix for this.
    Many thanks

  • Digital Media Designer Issue when loading a file?

Hi I'm experiencing an issue when I try to bring a media asset to my layout. After I loaded the file to the library I go to the Designer to create a presentation then I click on the icon "Media" beside Enterprise TV icon in order to add one of the assets from the library but it does not allow me to select the file. I could select the file from the icon Playlist.
I wonder if this is not the correct porcess.
I have to say that I just upgraded to 5.2 and I am not familiar to all the features and options.
I attached a screen shot from that window.
    Thanks

    Hi Tomas,
Yes it "works" that's what I did instead but doesn't seem to be the best practice because when I run the video in the display it show a little cut after it restarts. And also, i think it's better to use Media instead of Playlist when you want to publish images, because I noticed that the "effects" it has does not look nice at all and the images playlist looks much better and smooth when you add them as Media and assign a duration.
Anything else to get this working properly, I have tested it at my local Cisco's office and it worked fine now I upgraded my DMS to 5.2 and I am facing this issue, therefore I wonder if it is a bug or might be an installation issue or smething else related with configuration.
    Thanks!

  • Issues when sharing InDesign files across Mac and PC?

I'm looking for advise regarding cross platform use of the same InDesign files. We'll be working on 1000+ files with high resolution images. One designer works on a Mac and the other on a PC. We run the same version of InDesign. So far we are finding some (not all) fonts have issues where a PC font has to be replaced by the Mac equivalent and this often means the text box size has to change. When finished the files will be handed over to a fabricator.
Should we be getting a 2nd Mac to replace the PC or is this cross platform sharing going to work without long term issues down the road?
    Thank you.

Please, let's not let this get into a platform war.
There's no reason to buy another computer to collaborate unless one of your users is unhappy with the platform they use now, and then the deciding factor should be personal choice. One is decidedly not better than the other from any technical standpoint as far as working in Adobe applications. If you want to cooperate with other users it's best that everyone have the same version of ID, which you've already said is the case, so the only point of conflict is cross-platform sharing, and the only hangups there are fonts and a few third party plugins that might be available only on one platform. If you stick to OpenType fonts, fonts be come a non-issue, and if you don't have OpenType, Stick withthe PD fonts for what becomes a minor nuisance on the Mac side. As far as plugins, nothing you can do if you need a one-platform release to do the work on both sides, but most third-pary plugins are friendly enough that you can stillopen the file with missing plugins on the other end if necessary and don't need the functionality to do your work.

  • Security issues when using the file adapter

I want to use the file adapter, and in the documentation it states that you can use "directories" and "ftp".
I want to transfer a file secure and both of these options are not really secure.
Directory reading is not really secure when you read files from a windows share (SMB protocol).
Is it possible to make a share more secure in a windows environment?
In an ftp session everybody can steal the password. Is there a possibility to use "sftp"? Or will this be available?

Currently we dont have, but we will have it soon.

  • What is the problem when opening jpg files using Desktop API

Hi, i would like to open jpg, or gif files using Desktop API, and the application crashes. The Desktop API is supported by my OS, because txt files, or file directories can be opened, mails can be sent, browsing is also supported.
Only jpg and gif, and i think other picture formats cannot be opened.
Obviously ACDSee and other picture viewing programs are installed in my computer.
The corresponding application code can be found at the bottom of the page of http://www.awprofessional.com/articles/article.asp?p=661371&seqNum=2&rl=1
    my code:
    if(Desktop.isDesktopSupported()){
    Desktop desktop=Desktop.getDesktop();
    try
    desktop.open (fileToOpen);
    catch (IOException ioe)
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (frame,
    "I/O problem");
    catch (IllegalArgumentException iae)
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (frame,
    "File doesnt exist");
    fileToOpen is obviously a File.

My file association for jpg files is correct, if i click on a
jpg, ACDSee starts immediately.Although I am a long time Windoze non-user, I vaguely remember that there's a difference between correct file-type association being set and some application starting at a mouse click on a file icon. I also vaguely remember Windoze file-type association mechanism uses a few action-types. Java Desktop should expect a specific action-type for the association.

  • Colour issues when Producing iBA assets from InDesign

    Hi there
This is just a heads-up for those that produce any assets for eventual use in iBooks Author in InDesign. Watch out for colour matching issues.  The RGB values in inDesign do not often produce the same colours in iBA. Why would someone be using InDesign in the first place? Well you might use InDesign to work out page layouts, or to produce the TOC backgrounds (so that Chapters can feature individual colour ways), or for creating images with text for use in HTML widgets. It's just quicker/easier at handling text and managing styles.
Anyway - here's the issue. Try this: Create an colour with a specific RGB value in InDesign, export it as a jpg, and import it to iBA. Then create a shape within iBA with exactly the same RGB values. The two colours may differ. We have tried selecting different colour management options in InDesign, and even turning it off completely, but the colours still differ.
We created an image in Photoshop with a certain RGB value. That looked fine in iBA, and had kept the correct RGB value (using the colour sample tool to test it). We took a .jpg exported from InDesign (with the same RGB value within InDesign), opened it in Photoshop, and although the two images in Photoshop reported the same RGB value, they were clearly different to look at. When the InDesign image was brought into iBA, it's colour sample tool reported a differing set of RGB values.
So, if you have some assets where you need a reliable colour match you have a few choices:
    1) Don't use InDesign - use Illustrator or Photoshop
    2) If you must use InDesign - then export the assets as RGB PDFs with no colour management, open in Photoshop and export to jpg from there.
    3) If you're using colour ways, create the image from InDesign, but don't use the same RGB values that InDesign has to create elements in iBA. Sample the image using the colour sampler, and use the resulting RGB values to create your items.
Like I say - it's not really an Apple issue, but those who use iBA with InDesign are better off pre warned, so I thought that I would be better off posting it here than in Adobe's forums.

Publisher can create CMYK files, you go save as, then choose PDF, then click on Options or something and change it to Commercial Press.  This is Microsoft's version of the Press Quality export setting in Indesign, with it converting all images to CMYK, downsampling to 300dpi etc.
NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS WAY TO CREATE PRINT FILES FROM PUBLISHER!!!!
    Have I made myself clear?
The CMYK images created this way have a terrible sort of under colour removal.  Think for example of a dark blue garment, where most of the garment is  something like 100C 60M 0Y 60K, but in the shadows it goes darker than  that, up to 100K.  Well in that area of 95 to 100% black in the image Publisher will convert it to only that, with no other colours underneath it.  But the areas surrounding it will be rich black.  This won't show up on digital proofs, even hi res ripped inkjets, and won't even show up on a press pass unless the machine has drying, because it is not until the ink dries off that you notice these weird photos....  Anyway what I do has already been said above.
    1. Refry it first.
    2. You should be able to sync your settings.
    3. No, it just thinks it can.
In this case I actually had the Publisher files as well, so I printed them to PDF using Acrobat, and the images were fine.  Problem is the client had gotten used to text and other elements the way they looked using Publishers crappy CMYK export so I had to combine that with the proper images by cropping in Indesign..
    Here's examples of what happens:
    CMY channels only, BAD!
    CMY channels only, GOOD!
