Colour laser printer for home use [sorry to post here]

Hi,
I am looking to buy a colour laser printer (UK) for use at home mainly for printing documents, pdf files, etc. and use a Mac Pro (hence the link to these forums). I need a network and duplex function. I have been looking at HP's 2605dn but would appreciate your recommendations.
I am sorry to post here

Hey don't be sorry. How are you going to learn? Just before moving from OS/2 to OSX I purchased an HP2500N Color LaserJet. It worked nicely under OS/2 but lacked a few features. I waited a month before connecting it up to my Mac Pro because I feared it would need special drivers and a lot of hand-holding. What a surprise - I plugged it in via USB and printed a web page lickity-split! And the thing churns out the most beautiful copies. It is louder then I like (and I keep it in a pull-out cabinet to mute it) and use it daily. I rarely print in black and white any more - everything is in color (even my billings!).

  • AirPrint laser printer for home that has "n" wifi capabilities

Looking for an AirPrint laser printer for home that has "n" wifi capabilities. Was shocked to findout that most lasers don't do "N" wifi or high speed networking yet. Am seriously considering the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer, but just found out it is a nightmare to setup. Thought I could run it by USB port off my Timecapsule… Is anyone doing that? Can it do that? Is there a better alternative?

    Hi Scott,
You can also setup the P1102w without the USB cable. What you need to do is to connect the printer via ad-hoc to your iPad first. With the default network settings the printer has its own SSID that you can select from the WiFi list on your iPad. Then open Safari and go into the EWS - either by the printers IP or host name. There you go to Network - Wireless and make the settings for your infrastructure network.
However, both Laserjets will need a FW update that you install from a Mac or PC, so you may already use the install steps there to connect your printer to the network.

  • How do I find a driver for a Dell 1320c Colour Laser Printer for a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.2

How do I find a printer driver for a Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer for use on a MacBook Pro running Mavericks OSX 10.9.2?

Ask Dell who made the printer and what model is it. Then you can see if there is a matching driver provided with OS X or that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

  • Just need a cheap printer for home use

Can sombody suggest a cheap color printer (say around $50) that I can use at home to just print simple documents. I want something I can hook in to my Airport Extreme by USB, that will let me print from both a PC and a Powerbook running Tiger.
I just bought a Lexmark Z735, and it doesn't seem to be at all Mac compatible. There are no Mac drivers, even on their website.

    Hi,
I found a really great ink jet printer for you that will work with both Mac & PC. It is from Epson and only costs $59.99. The Epson Stylus C68 offers the perfect solution for fast, affordable home printing. You can print your simple documents as well as photos too. Visit this link to learn more:

I did check out the Lexmark Z735 and you are correct, there is no driver supported for the Mac. It is for PCs only.

  • Best photo printer for home use

My HP 3180 does not agree with the iMac, and I'm finished fighting it. I need a printer/scanner, hopefully under $200, and the most important function for me is photo printing. Speed is not a priority. Just really good photo quality. I've read Epson and Canon work well, and done hours of homework on ratings, but if anyone out there has suggestions....

Even though I have used Epson printers exclusively, for a long time, I will have to agree, somewhat, with RTF3. I have consistently had real problems trying to get the fine image I see on screen. The times when I thought I had it figured out, seemed to be answered by using the recommended Epson paper. If I used an off brand, terrible results would occur.
I now have a stylus 1400, which, by the way, is NOT listed as a supported model for the Gutenprint driver software...so I guess I'm outta luck trying that.
Yes, I agree, it is way to difficult to get great prints of photos out of the Epson, however, that does not make sense, given the fact that Epson is a top selling brand. Are all the thousands of customers unhappy with their Epson printer? Are all these issues dependant on the driver? Or the paper? Or the calibration of the monitor? Or all that stuff?
There should be a consise help page that describes how to print what you see on the screen. It should be simple, to the point, and step by step.

  • Monochrome home laser printer for my ibook G4, OS 10.3.3

    Hi,
I am looking for an affordable, no fuss laser printer for home use . 600 or 1200 dpi is fine, as long as it prints nice looking professional resumes !!
.. ANW, m currently looking the HP laserjet 1020, 1022 and 2100, but having read elsewhere of driver problems encountered by other Mac users, I am unlikly to bite. Found a link at HP website that "sells" the CD for 1020/22 series drivers, but it looks like delivery is only within the US / Canada... (and I am in Asia !!)
Any other recommendations please? many thanks in advance.

Sitting here and watching my new babie 2040 is great.
Called up the nearby store and found the printer for S$198 (with 3 year warranty). Remembered I had a S$200 gift voucher from the same store and within an hour, I was walking out of the store - all smiles as I didn't have to fork out a single extra penny for the purchase.
The installation was very smooth, cldn't be easier... print is fine. except now i probably need to look for good quality paper for printing resumes. otherwise the print on ordinary paper for own home office purposes does it for me.
although i am still wondering how you found out I am from singapore, (guess my member profile shows it), the link you provided solved the problem.
    thanks a lot.

  • HT1338 Hi I have a dell colour laser printer ref 3115 cn. I have tried to load driver etc so I can use it with my new Macbook Pro. Its won't let me do it. How do I do it?

Hi I have a Dell colour laser printer ref 3115 cn. I have tried laoding the driver buy my MacBook Pro wont allow it?
    Any idea's?

The Dell specifications indicate that this is a multifunction device.  The printing portion is supposed to be able to use either PostScript or PCL 6.  You should be able to use a generic color PostScript PPD or use the generic pxlcolor driver from OpenPrinting.org.  There is not much chance of getting scanning to work with OS X.
The Gutenprint drivers will not provide what you need.  They only support balck and white printing for laser printers.

  • Airport and Colour Laser Printer Sharing-Any recommendations for a printer?

    Hi,
I am looking for reasonably priced (about 400-600USD) colour laser printer that I could hooked up to my Airport Express' USB connection.
Would anyone has any recommadations for a type&model?
One option that I have been examing is Epson's Aculaser C1100. Any experiences with this one?
I could go with C1100N model with LAN connection, but I would love share the printer wirelessly (without the extra effort of rearranging my ip address environment..)
    Thanks,
    Tuure
    Mac OS X (10.4.4)

You are righ, i own a eculaser 1100 connected via airport express too. It works without any problem, if useing power pcs. If I try to prit using an intel mac, the new intel driver will hang up and the printer driver told me an interface type error -1. Epson support told me to ask the manufacturer of my os... Haha, like i said before it works with the old driver for power pc (V 2.3 ?) but for intel mac you have to use V3.0. And only this will not work. Does anyone have an idea for me? PowerPC works fine, win dows xp using bonjour prints fine too. Connection the aculaser directly to the mac book pro will work too, but using airport will no print me anything using the intel mac

  • Recommend new colour laser printer? Small and wifi capable for latest apple products,

Which new colour laser printer? I need small as possible, but wifi capable for latest apple products (OS 10.7 and mobile iOS 5). Not used wifi printing before, so getting confused with specs. Not high usage, want better speed than inkjet

You mentioned some office-level multifunction copier, though, costing more: which one would that be?
The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2225 with the Booklet Finisher-M1. This finisher will fold and saddle-stitch your booklet on the fly for up to 5 sheets of A4 paper - making a 20 page booklet. And the printer driver for OS X will re-order the pages in your document so you don't have to get the page order correct before you send the print job.

  • Which Colour Laser Printer/Scanner for Yosemite and Adobe Acrobat XI?

Since upgrading my mac to 10.10 my Epson DX4400 will not scan any more, even with the latest Epson driver update.
I need a better printer anyway, so I would like to replace it with a colour laser printer & scanner.  But I want to make sure I get one that will work with OSX 10.10.2 and Adobe Acrobat XI
    Does anyone have any recommendations?
    Thanks

  • Is a colour laser printer the answer?

I have two excellent Canon inkjet printers but I print so infrequently that all the ink is used up in lengthy nozzle cleaning and sooner or later the print head clogs up. Is a colour laser printer the answer? Do the toner or the mechanism suffer from being left unused for long periods? How do printing costs compare? Is the quality adequate for high quality office use (barring pro photo printing)? If so what printer or printer makes can users recommend? thank you.

I assume that I can set up a  laser printer to operate wirelessly. This is important as I often print directly from my iPad which requires wifi.
If the printer has built-in WiFi then it would just be a matter of adding it to your wireless router. If the printer only has Ethernet, then you will need to connect its Ethernet port to your wireless router via an Ethernet cable. This may not be ideal depending on the location of your router.
As for printing from the iPad, the printer does not need to have WiFi. In the scenario above, of having the printer connected to the wireless router via Ethernet, you would still be able to print from iOS devices. But to be able to print from all applications on the iPad, the printer should support AirPrint. There are many companies that don't have a AirPrint capable printer but do provide an iOS application for printing. These applications generally limit what other iOS applications you can print from. So the advice is to ensure the printer supports AirPrint.
Note also that you could connect the printer directly to the Mac. This would avoid the issue above with having to locate the printer near the wireless router. And if you install an application like Printopia on the Mac, it will make the printer available to the iPad (providing the Mac is turned on).

By infrequently I meant once or twice a week, no less.
This would be fine for any laser printer, but this time frame should also be okay for the Canon inkjet. In order to prevent printing problems due to bubbles, dust, or ink clogging, print head cleaning is performed before the start of printing. For your reference, with a Canon MP990, the amount used is about 0.24ml for black and 0.26ml for colour. If you power off/on the printer or replace the ink tank (without replacing the print head), 0.44ml of black and 2.45ml of colour (total) is used. If you perform a deep clean or replace the print head, then 1.98ml of black and 2.45ml of colour (total) is used. These figures vary slightly from difference models, but it gives you an estimate of how much ink is used when cleaning is performed.

  • IF you could buy a laser printer for 500 bucks......

Is there a laser printer out there that works well with Macs for under 500 bucks, (b&w), that is reliable? I am not a real computer guy, I just need something that works well for home use. Or should I suck it up and wait a month or so and buy a color one, though I do not really want to......Or am I too low dollar wise for a black and white, much less a color?
Thank you very much for any info.

If B&W is still okay, then Canon has the MF4150 which works well when connected directly to the Mac (networking is a bugger!).

  • Can no longer properly print to colour laser printer after latest update

    Hi,
I've just updated my iLife '08/Leopard software using software update. It would appear that I can no longer print greeting cards etc. from iPhoto to my colour laser printer since this update. All photos are printed in a very pale yellow colour that is hardly visible.
I've tried a couple of things to diagnose the problem:
    1. Saved the file as a PS and printed it from a different machine running Tiger. Same result as before: Pale yellow.
    2. Viewed the PS file using Preview on the Tiger and Leopard machines. The colours were normal.
    3. Saved just the image (i.e., no greeting card pattern) to desktop and printed it from my Leopard machine. The picture printed out perfectly on the colour laser printer.
    4. Printed the greeting card to an inkjet. That seems to work, too.
    5. Just in case there was a problem with the new greeting card, I tried to print an old card that perfectly printed before. It, too, came out in a pale yellow.
So there appears to be some problem printing from the latest version of iPhoto to my colour laser printer. I did update the printer driver, just in case, but still have the same problem. Any ideas what else I could try?
The printer is an HP Color Laserjet 2550L

I have just discovered that I can properly print pictures from iPhoto to the colour laser, as long as I don't put them in a greeting card. So that seems to be the trigger.

  • Laser printer for Mac OS X 10.7.3 airprint

Need a laser printer for iMac and Macbook Air enable airprint.
    Thank you

My question is "Can I use a wireless laser printer wirelessly regardless of the airprint capability?"
    Regards
Sure there are quite a few Wi-Fi black & white laser printers for personal use. I would concentrate on HP, Brother, and Samsung. You can also change your router to one that has a USB port on it, then you can get a non Wi-Fi printer, plug it in via USB to the router and you have a wireless printer. I did this with my HP LaserJet 1012 and connected it to my Apple Airport Extreme router. There are a number of other routers that do the same thing.
