Colour Laserjet CP3505 colour fade

Hi everyone,
I was having an issue with a CP3505 where the yellow and magenta would fade on both left and right hand sides of the page. It was a same issue as with the Colour Laserjet 2605, dust and toner in the laser/scanner assembly. Once I cleaned inside the assembly and did a full calibration via the print quality menu the printer worked fine.
Just thought someone might find this info useful.
For some reason the CP3505 service manual isn't on the HP site so I downloaded it from a someone's blog instead. http://printer1.blogspot.com/2008/04/hp-color-laserjet-300036003800cp3505.html Pages 82 - 93 and 128 - 131 detail how to remove the covers/dc controller and the laser assembly.

HP Color LaserJet CP3505 - Rollers

We have an HP Color LaserJet CP3505 printer in our office, which has recently begun leaving magenta coloured marks at intervals up the centre of every page that it prints.
I checked the roller film and found that it had the marks also, so I wiped them with a dry, lint free cloth. When we sent a test print, the marks still appeared on the page and had reappeared on the roller film.
It would seem that one of the rollers that grips and feeds the page has rather a lot of magenta toner on it. How do I go about accessing and cleaning this roller?

I had the same problem with black streaks and following HP's cleaning instructions repeatedly did no good. I also found no useful advice anywhere on the HP site, though I did find this unanswered query. Investigating inside the printer, I found that the photo drum in the black cartridge had corresponding streaks. (You can see it when the front door is half-open or if you pull out the cartridge and cautiously push open the cover between its holding lugs.) I doubt that the drum can be cleaned but replacing the cartridge cured the problem competely. I think HP's user support is truly dismal. If questions like this one arise repeatedly (at least twice on the present evidence!) and are not answered by someone from the company, a forum like this is pretty useless. I am reminded of the ineffective telephone 'support' that failed to explain how to set up my w2207h monitor. I took it 20 miles back to the store where I bought it (prepared to reject it) but got an immediate answer there.

Equium A100-02L screen colours fade to green/yellow.

Equium A100-02L screen colours all green/yellow but it all displays correctly in Safe Mode.
Reliability & Performance Monitor says:
A device has a configuration problem that prevents it from working properly.
Details: The device, Microsoft ISATAP Adapter, is reporting "tv_ConfigMgrErr31". This device will not be available until the issue is resolved. The Plug and Play ID for this device is ROOT\*ISATAP\0001.
Is this the problem? How can I fix it?

After Animation, Change of Colour - the one feature of Powerpoint I liked was the ability to change colour (fade to grey usually) after animation. allowed people to focus on the new bulletpoint. Can I do this in Keynote?

Problem with HP color laserjet CP3505

Hi all,
I am having a Problem with my printer CP3505, i fitted this printer in my network and it is printing perfectly good at first even from my Mobie (S4) and other systems in my network, but recently a problem started its printing only from one laptop. when i send data to print either from my mobile / or from any other device the data indication on the front panel of the printer keep blinking and after some time an error appears saying cant connect to the printer.
can some one help me out.

Laserjet cp3505

Hello,
I am having issues with my Color LaserJet CP3505n
I have a MacBook Air laptop with OSX 10.9
I think it may be a driver issue. I have followed the steps on the HP website to try and update it but the Apple Software Update does not have an update for it. And the driver is not available for download on the HP website.
Various printing issues and it seems to be random:
(this is from various software such as: Word, Acrobat, Chrome, Adobe Creative Suite Cloud, etc.)
1)The file goes to the print que, data light on the device blinks, then stops and nothing prints.
2) sometimes it does not print the last page of a multi page document
3) when a document is sent that has multiple copies, it prints each copy individually (very slowly) as if the data is being sent for every copy vs. just once.
4) I have to turn the printer off and on a lot to reset it because the print que often says the printer is "busy" when it is not.
This printer worked great with my previous Mac laptop.

Transparency in gradients - transition gradient slider still shows the transparent tabs colour

I`m trying to make a one colour radial blend from one colour to transparent,
so I make the end tab 0% opacity. transparent,
however the transition gradient slider at top between the colour and the transparent tab still shows the influence of the transparent, this creates a colour bleed from the transparent tab even if I set it to white, the left colour fades out into white then transparency. (this is not due to the cream left tab, it happens on any colour sample)
I want the left colour tab to fade out with no influence in the transition period to the "white transparent" tab, but the transition slider does carry some of the gradation from the white tab... is there a way to delete the white tab all together and have a true transition from the cream to nothing?

I just thought of the solution, - use the same colour on both colour stops, and make one transparent.

Satellite Pro L20 -can anyone tell me whether I have a problem with screen?

I have a Pro L20 - PSL25E and i have recently been having problems with the screen, it has been intermittently flickering/losing colour and almost whiting out (when the colour fades white vertical lines start to appear).
This seemed to become worse after i dropped it (only from about 2 feet off the ground not a big drop).
I thought the sceen may be going, but the perfomance of the laptop seems to be affected when this is happening, the laptop has started to run very slow (the mouse tracks slow, programs I've clicked take ages to run and it sometimes freezes until it stops flickering) which had me thinking it might be a virus or perfomance issue.
My screen drivers are up to date, i ran a full scan with McAfee, ran a system clear-up and a defrag.
I was wondering if anyone knew whether this seemed like a problem with the screen connections and would need replacing or whether it could be repaired, or whether it was a perfomance issue?
Any help would be much appreciate thanks!

Sounds like the Graphics chip has a problem, which I think is a Mainboard replacement.
You can get a quote for the repair at an Authorized Service Provider. There is an ASP list on the Toshiba website.

Nokia C7 Display Defect

Hi,
I have a Nokia C7-00 that was purchased SIM free and unbranded in Germany, with which I'm experiencing distinct colour banding / gradient problems. It is also common on Nokia N8 displays. I'll try to describe my problem:
The first tell tale sign of the issue seems to be a common one: A purplish tint on the top half of the screen saver clock (visible when the phone is keylocked and then the menu key is pressed).
As time has passed by since first noticing this problem- I have also noticed that videos and images that are predominantly dark are also having issues being displayed properly. The effect being similar to if the image was being shown on a screen with limited colours, for example, if you set your computer screen to display only 16bit colours. In areas of images that black is supposed to fade into lighter colours, the image is completely off.

I have contacted Nokia care and they have no input other than re-installing my firmware (which is impossible to do anyway- as they seem to have provided me with inaccurate instructions- there is no way to re-install my firmware via Ovi Suite or the handset)

I've since moved away from Germany and from what I understand my 2 year warranty is only valid in Europe...
Attachment 1 is supposed to be black to white squares in increasing gradient
Attachment 2 is supposed to be black into white, but on my display somehow a brown/purple tint is in between the black and white
Attachment 3 is the screensaver clock that is supposed to be black, but on my screen the top half is displayed with a purple hue

hi guys my n8 has this issue too
iam not impressed by it and have contacted nokia on facebook , twitter , email and phone yet they dont seem the least bit intrested at the minute
i have even got a nokia tech from a nsc to report it to them via correct channels yet nokia dont seem to care about this
it happends when colours fade into each other or get lighter , main colours are white/grey/black and these turn to a purple/red colour just like in the pictures above
ive also had another n8 and it didnt have this problem , my girlfriend has a n8 too and is on the same product code etc and the screens are so different it is unreal
i thin nokia might be using two screens on the n8 too meet demand as amoled screens are in demand at the minute so maybe they have sourced another froma differnt amoled maker
i cant see any other reason for the difference in image quality between my girlfriends and my screen , same product code , same firmware , same theme and settings yet the results are so different its worrying
forget using the n8 to watch videos if you have one of these screens with a purple tint as the blacks/whites/greys will look purple and ruin the film etc
my video playing has gone from watching dvd quality to watch a dodgy pirate with pixelation and purple tints and banding
id like to see more users post up here so nokia can see there is a bit of a problem and start looking into it as at the minute they dont seem fussed
perhaps people havent noticed the purple tint but if you have seen one with a proper screen and then one with a puple tint you can easily spot the difference the screen quality is no where near as good as the ones without tints , coliurs are deeper richer and nicer to view on the screen wihout the tint
iam waiting for another n8 to turn up today as a replacement if it has the purple screen too i will be extremley gutted and a unhappy n8 user even though its my dream device itll feel tainted because of the screen

No color on my computer

The color pops in and out of my imac. any ideas on how to fix it.

I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific!
Is the coloured casing popping off the iMac?
Is the iMac showing a black and white display only?
Do the colours fade in and out on your computer?
If you hook up an external display do you get the same effect?
What type of iMac do you have? (iMac G3 (CRT) / iMac G4 (angle poise Flat Panel) / iMac G5/ICD )
When does the issue occur? All the time, when you do something particular or randomly?
Have you tried adjusting the settings in Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays ?

My lovely newish L670D-13F is currently unusable and I wonder if it has a virus?
When I switch it on only about one millimetre of the Toshiba logo flashes up then the Microsoft logo and starter bar appear but in a flashing wobbling way then all the colour fades from the screen and stays white for a few moments then the screen goes black and the Windows tune plays and the four coloured globes appear but in a very distorted way then all the colour fades from the screen again, goes black then the cursor appears but in an enlarged wobbly way, screen fades etc etc.
This happened about a week ago but when I switched it on the next day it behaved normally and advised me to use system restore which I did and the computer behaved normally for a few more days but then it happened again but has not started up normally and is now unusable as pushing any keys has no effect at all.
Sorry about my description as I am sure you can guess I am not at all "techy"!

I dont think its a virus. In such case Windows wouldnt able to start anymore so viruses causing other problems. As MisterX already wrote this could be a hardware malfunction and related to graphic card.
If you dont have an external monitor to check this I would try a recovery installation from HDD as described here:

This can restore the original factory settings with all drivers and tools from Toshiba.

Adding text to a target box??!!

Hi there,
Ive made a trigger and target so when i roll over an image the target box fades in with a light opacity fill over the image which gives it a nice effect.
Now I want to add text on that target box so when the fill colour fades in some full opacity text fades in as well.
I can't seem to find a way to do this. Can someone explain how please?

Dissolve type Gradient in Illustrator?

Hi, I have been trying to find how to do a dissolve effect in Illustrator that matches the effect seen in this image (also found here http://www.impawards.com/2014/posters/xmen_days_of_future_past_xlg.jpg). I have tried using the grain filter in the texture effects but have failed to match the fidelity in colour fade that is found in this image. I know that photoshop can gain effects like this, but I find it incredibly difficult to have complex designs in illustrator to transfer to photoshop in usable form.
I am using CS5. Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

That's a very cool look. There is a way to do this, but you'd need to do it in Photoshop.
Basically it's this:
1. In Photoshop, make a file large enough to contain all the texture fades you want in your illustration, at somewhere around 300 dpi.
2. Make a small Marquee selection at the same proportions as the file (around 20-25% of the file size), and fill it with Noise (Gaussian, Monochrome), 100%
3. Transform the small Noise box up to the size of the entire page ... go back to step 2 to adjust size of original noise area and enlargement amount proportionally as needed for desired detail density
4. Over this layer, add Threshold Adjustment Layer -- now the enlarged noise is black and white -- you have your base texture
5. Bring paths/shapes/raster-info in from Illustrator as selections, delineating the extent of the desired texture fade; use these as selections for painting ...
6. Add two layers below the Threshold Adjustment Layer, one for black, and one for white
7. On each of these, use a soft brush at various sizes (either black or white) with a very low opacity (like 1-5%), and paint lighter values on the white layer, and darker values on the black layer -- The Threshold layer non-destructively conforms these value changes to the B&W Texture made earlier.
Voila. You now have a sweet looking textured fade, conformed to your shapes from AI.
For the effect in your sample, in Photoshop you would probably need one set of layers to be used for developing the dark fade, and a second set of similar layers to be used for the white fade. When finished you could place them in position together or separately back in AI for the desired effect.
You can either mask, colorize, and export these areas back to AI, or place them AI and auto-trace them if you want. In my sample below, I made a channel out of each, loaded the channel on a clear bkg, and filled with either the darker color or white, so this could be simply placed back in AI and used as is for the textured fades.
Here's a quickly done example.
And here's the layer palette for the darks. Another similar set was used for the whites. I also had previously pasted in the enclosing path from AI for the basic shape.

Gradient issues in CMYK art

I have a file with a background colour of 25C, 35M, 85Y. I have made a stripe across it which I want to appear to fade from the background colour to white then back to background colour.
I have made a gradient with both ends matching the background colour and white in the middle. Onscreen it looks fine but when printed it goes from the background colour, through a pinkish shade to a yellowish shade to white, then back via the same colours. Am I asking too much of the software or is there some way I can sort this? Thanks

Each of your process colour components is fading to 0%. For most printers, there is a point at which a colour component is so faint it is effectively white. Let's say that happens at 5%. Let's further say that the gradient width (from 100% colour to white) is 2.5 inches. While each of your colours fades to 5%, the fact that the cyan component is the smallest value means each band of 5% increments is wider. This means Cyan drops to 0% for the last 1/2 inch, while the magenta and yellow components are still printing.
Try adding an interim stop just before white on each side with 4% of each colour.
It would also help to know how you are printing this. Are you proofing before going to press or is this the result on press? If proofing, what is your printer?
