Colour looks wrong

I am not sure if this is normal or if I had not noticed it before but the colours and not clear. I is like is you set a Windows PC to use 16 bit color! This appears to have happened after using a Mini DVI to Video converter.
Is it just me?

Do you mean the video on the screen, or the video on the external display? Have you tried calibrating the displays?

Yes, I am still having problems. I tried to load in the online site for my bank, Navy Federal Credit Union. I got the old "server not found" BS. I did as you suggested and executed a SHIFTED Reload and that worked, at least in the since that I was able to get the opening page.
However, when I went to sign on, the trouble appeared. Similar to the failed logons and recycling sign ons that I had seen on Yahoo and a few other sites, WHEN I logged onto NFCU's page (they have an unusual three part logon), as soon as I sign on I am IMMEDIATELY told I have "timed out" on the session and am kicked off. Repeated attempts to access my account yields the same thing over and over. I tried to sign on using Internet Explorer and there was NO PROBLEM AT ALL, so the issue is specific to FF.
I then flushed the cache and retied; no luck. I tried SAFE MODE and again no luck. I then went in a flushed the cache, again, and deleted all associated cookies. Again no luck.
Then I flushed the cache, reset ALL the preferences and tried again, still no luck.
As it stands now, I have reset the USERAGENT entries, flushed the cache, reset the preferences and, removed the cookies and still, EVEN in SAFE mode, Firefox and NFCU can't get along. Neither can Yahoo.com!
So, after all that,I am at my wits end. Suggestions? Should I send you a refreshed copy of my troubleshooting dump?
Keep in mine that I have, up until 9.0.1 came out, been using FF to aces s all these sites without any problems. So I guess the question has to be: Exactly what was changed in 9.0.1 from the previous version that has made it act this way?

  • Skin Tones Look Wrong When Printing From iPhoto

    Hi
I'm having trouble getting the caucasian skin tones to look right on photos printed with my Epson Stylus C86 printer on Epson Premium Semigloss paper. They look too pinky/purple when compared with the screen of the Sony DSC camera I shot them with and also my iMac's monitor. They just look wrong as though the subjects have a combination of bad sunburn, high blood pressure and are blushing at the same time!
I've tried the following tips synthesised from other threads:
    1. Downloaded the latest set of drivers from Epson's website.
    2. Ensured that they are associated with the printer in ColorSync utility.
    3. Selected the Use ColorSync option when printing from iPhoto's print dialogue box.
These made no difference to the default behaviour i.e. same color problems.
Could anyone guide me to a solution? I would rather not have to use another application to print them if possible. I'm not used to my Mac not "just working".
    Thanks

What color profile do the pics have? Is the printer set to the same profile?
    Regards

  • Video aspect ratio looks wrong in Quicktime Player

When I export a movie as a Quicktime file (ending in .mov) and then play the movie using the Quicktime Player, the aspect ratio (4:3) of the movie looks wrong, as if it is "squished down" vertically. If I open the file in FCE, the movie looks normal.
The same thing used to happen with the .mov movie file that older versions of iMovie used to create; in Quicktime Player the aspect ratio looked wrong. In this case, if I open the original QT clips (created by iMovie during import) in the Player, they looked normal. It was only if I opened the .mov file created by iMovie that referenced all those clips (in the order they appeared in the sequence) that the aspect ratio was odd. If I open any of those items directly in FCE they look normal.
I think this is behavior of the Player and not a problem with FCE (or iMovie) or the video file. I'm just wondering why this is happening and if there's any way to make the Player show the movie with the correct aspect ratio.
    Thanks!

    Hi Tom:
Affected video was imported in one of two ways:
    (1) From an old Digital8 Sony camcorder, using DV-NTSC 32Khz, directly captured into FCE.
    (2) From a Canon GL2 camcorder, using Firewire Basic DV-NTSC (48Khz), captured using an old version of iMovie. The video clips are imported into FCE and rendered.
Affected video is either exported from FCE using Export>Quicktime Movie..., or is not exported at all but simply viewed in the Quicktime Player after capture. That is, capturing from within FCE, quitting FCE, finding the captured video, and opening it in Player.
Recall that the video aspect ratio also looks wrong when playing the Quicktime file generated by iMovie (which references but doesn't contain the actual video clips), but the ratio looks right when playing the actual clips found in the Media folder, within the iMovie project folder.
However, I also have some video that I captured from the Canon for a wedding, and when I play that captured file in Player, it does NOT appear to have the wrong aspect ratio, so I'm a bit confused why this might vary.
    Thanks for your help.

  • OpenGL App Texture Colours look rubbish and blotchy

I've copied the CrashLanding app and made some adjustments and all is ok, except that if I load a texture (tried png, jpg, bmp) saved from photoshop that uses the "clouds" filter, when it loads on screen in the simulator and on my iPhone, the colours look all blotchy almost like the image has been downgraded to 256 colours or something.
I haven't modified the Texture2D class at all.
Could anyone shed some light on why the image is coming out like this? I want to be able to use all the colours that show in photoshop. Even when I import them into XCode as resources they look fine. It is only when they are loaded into the app that they display badly.
PS, this is not the same problem that some were having with PPC hardware, I'm using an intel macmini.

I've had similer problems when using Apple's Texture2D class. For starters, during linking, the resource compiler will OPTIMISE your PNG's (by converting them to Apple's proprietary CgBI format). One of the sideeffects is that it ignores interim alpha values (eg. 0.5f). It also creates artifacts with some PNG files (haven't bothered investigating why)
I've ditched Apples Texture2D and ported libpng to the iPhone (together with glpng). You need to prevent Apples's resource compiler from optimising PNG's (add a build setting called "IPHONEOPTIMIZEOPTIONS" and set it to "-skip-PNGs" ignore the quotes), or rename your .png files.
Now my PNG's look great, partial alpha values (0.5f) are displayed properly, and there is no texture corruption. Frame rates are basically the same.

  • Firefox recently updated and Face Book looks wrong. I've gone through all of the trouble shooting in "Web sites look wrong"

I cannot get Face Book to display properly in Firefox. I've done lots of trouble shooting. All of the "Web sites look wrong" troubleshooting. Very frustrating. Other web sites display properly. Not Face Book. Help! I love Firefox!

Woo-Hoo! Started Firefox in Safe Mode and disabled everything. Went through the Preferences check list of potential problems and double checked all of the settings, restarted Firefox, in plain default mode and wah-la, everything looks right again in Face Book! YAY! Then tried re-installing my theme, and checked FB again and it's all good! Thank You Firefox Support Pages! :)

  • Mail.app "Looks" Wrong

Suddenly, Mail.app just simply "looks" wrong (running Mac OS X 10.4.8, Mail 2.1 (752/752.2):
    1. New message count no longer shows up on Mail's Dock icon
    2. When viewing a message with either the preview pane or a separate window, the basic headers are spread way out vertically; large white vertical spacing between header elements. Highlighting the header shows the spaces appear to be separate, empty boxes. Plus, the font that I'm used to seeing the header displayed with seems the same, but different.
2.1 Changing the message viewing type exhibits odd behaviors as well. Changing to raw source looks as expected. Then changing to original format goes back to showing the odd looking headers but with the raw source (in raw source font) following the headers.
    3. The new message count numbers in the main viewing list is the normal font, but much larger.
I've removed the Mail caches and preferences. No changes. All disk and privileges are fine. I see no other oddities in any other apps.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Have you recently installed, removed or disabled any
    fonts?
OS X fonts, no. I did remove the Classic OS environment from my system, including all those fonts from the System Folder > Fonts directory.
I only recently installed the Classic OS environment. Mail.app was working correctly before Classic was installed. It was working correctly while Classic was installed. While I can't definitively say that Mail.app stopped working correctly immediately upon Classic's removal, it does appear to be coincidental.
For the sake of argument, let's suppose Mail.app did link itself to a Classic font, the question I have is... why? If it worked before Classic, it apparently didn't need any Classic fonts. Why all of a sudden would it need to use them?
Thanks for your response. It did force me to think of other reasons why Mail is showing this odd behavior.

  • RAW file colours looking incorrect

    Hi guys,
Sorry if this question has been asked or if this is a foolish one but I cant find any answers around and I'm getting really frustrated. Basically, I've been using Bridge for only a few months but have rated and sorted photos through it for the last few projects I've worked on. Recently I logged in to carry on working on some photos and noticed that the photos looked very different to what I remember them looking like. I opened them in Photoshop (using Camera RAW) and they still look odd. They look very light and over exposed and I cant work out why.
I've 'Reset Preferences' and 'Purged the entire thumbnail cache' in Bridge using the Reset Settings option and also purged the cache once in Bridge but neither of these things have helped. I noticed that if I generate a quick thumbnail instead of a high quality one in bridge, it looks as it should in the thumbnail but still doesnt look right in the preview window.
I've put this question in this forum as I think this is to do with the way RAW files are being ready by both Adobe Bridge and Photoshop as it looks the same in both.
Could someone please help me out as I've lost confidence in the changes I am making to photos at the mo until I understand this sudden change of colour? I'm sure it's not my monitor as I use SpyderPro calibration and the fact that my other JPEG photos still look normal but would prefer to know the reason for this before I commit more time to photo editing.
    Thanks

    Hi ssprengel,
    Thanks for the reply.
When I look at my Color Management, I only have one profile there which is the one set by Spyder. I did try to turn off the calibration and that just makes the photos lighter. Just to cliarfy, its not as if they are slightly off colour, they are seriously wrong. Like one photo is pretty much yellow and as the JPEGS looks normal I dont think its a generic screen calibration problem.
Does ACR stand for Adobe Camera Raw? If so, the settings only have 'Apply auto grascale mix when converting to grayscale' checked in the Default Image Settings. In the JEPG and TIFF Handling section both boxes are checked.
I only bought SpyderPro 3 about 3 months ago so the hardware is pretty new and only recently I upgraded the software to version 1.1.4. I'm using Photoshop CS3 version 10.0 and Camera Raw 4.6. Finally my operating system is Windows Vista.
    Hope this additional information helps.

  • New computer system, printed colours are wrong, please advise.

I recently bought a new computer system inc Dell U2711 monitor and purchased LR4 and CS6. All was well, or so I thought, until I got some prints done. The prints from my old system (with which I only used elements 10) look fine. Those from my new system look awful, the colours are just wrong. My workflow is RAW image opened in LR then finished off in CS6 before saving as JPEG. The saved images look alright but when I either click view/ proof colors or if I use an image as a desktop screensaver, it gives the same washed out appearance with wrong colours. I'm at the limit of my technical knowledge here, does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks for that link, I will read that. I've been going through the settings on LR and CS and I think I begin to understand. I've been looking in LR preferences and that gives three options for color space: There is Prophoto RGB (the default which LR recommends as it says the other two don't give the full colour range available in LR) then there is sRGB and lastly Adobe RGB (1998). There is no such option that I can find in CS6 preferences but, when I export a TIFF file from LR4 into CS6 and then save it from CS6 it shows the color as ICC profile Adobe RGB (1998). I also notice that in this setting using the view/ proof in CS6 the colours are slightly askew (they were way off when I had the LR preference set to ProphotoRGB). If however I set the LR preference to sRGB and then export to CS6, using the view/proof the colours stay the same so I'm still a bit confused. Maybe I'm just thick, it's a lot to take in.
I've processed a RAW image in the recommended ProphotoRGB, exported it to CS6 then before saving gone into edit/ convert to profile/ sRGB: the colours have stayed the same and using the view/ proof or save as desktop background = no change and everything looks good. So, is this the way forward and should that format work when printed? (I've only got a crappy basic two ink printer which I wouldn't trust to print anything other than text). Also, is it possible to get CS6 to save as sRGB by default or do I have to go through this routine for every image I want to save and print?

  • Need help! colours horrribly wrong in PS CS5!

Not sure what i did, but something in photoshop cs5 color management has gone wrong. When I open any of my images (say a pdf in adobe reader e.g.) it looks fine. When I open the same image in photoshop or bridge, the colours have a horrible red/magenta cast. All images my images have the same cast, that doesn't exits when I print them.
I tried changing proof settings in view>proof setup, but nothing has much effect.
Also tried Edit> Color settings but that doesnt seem to affect anything either.
I'm sure I've changed a profile setting somewhere, but not sure where. Any help would be appreciated.

Was it once working properly and not it's not?  If so, do you know what on your system may have changed?
Have you calibrated your monitor?  What profile is associated with it?  This is found in the Windows display properties.  If you'll note what operating system you're running I or someone will be happy to show you where to find it.
Does the problem change if you go into Edit - Preferences - Performance, uncheck Enable OpenGL Display, and restart Photoshop?

  • Read tif, save as jpg, colours are wrong

I am using jdk 1.5.0_04 on Solaris 9, and for reading tifs I have tried both jai_imageio_1_0_01 and jai_imageio_1_1-alpha.
If I read in a tif, and save as a jpg, as follows:
    BufferedImage img = ImageIO.read(new File("xxx.tif"));
    ImageIO.write(img, "jpg", new File("xxx.jpg"));
the colours in the saved jpg are wrong.
Light is dark, orange changes to blue, etc.
Can anyone explain why and how to fix it?

    it looks ok.

  • External Monitor Aspect Ratio Looks Wrong

I'm having trouble using my TV as another monitor with my new MacBook Pro. I don't really care whether it is mirrored or as a second monitor, but no matter what I do I can't get the aspect ratios right. I want to play videos on my TV, but when I put them fullscreen there, no matter what aspect ratio I've chosen, it ends up cropping the screen, as if instead of actually changing the aspect ratio, it has just blown up the screen from the wrong aspect ratio and let the edges get cut off. The (oldish) TV has a 1024x768 ratio, my laptop a 1280x800. They're connected by VGA cable. When I just leave them like that as separate monitors, the TV acts as if it's the same size as the computer and ends up cutting off the bottom and left side of the window. I've tried setting my laptop to 1024x768 as well as having them as separate monitors, and that changes the laptop screen, but still when I fullscreen a video it's cropped instead of resized, now on both laptop and TV. When I mirror them my laptop gets all stretched looking, presumably because it's taking on the TV's aspect ratio and then just stretching it out. It's like the only way it knows how to handle anything properly is if it's in its native 1280x800 setting. My old PC handles this without a problem (I think it ends up putting black bars top and bottom on my TV to make the ratio work for videos that aren't fullscreen, and in any case it doesn't do any of the weird cropping), and I thought Macs were for graphics people!

    Hi
    > Should I install the external monitor samsung driver (I do have the disc) or might it upset the Toshiba's own screen...
First of all the graphic driver is necessary and important to run and to use the graphic card with full performance and NOT the external monitor!!!
I'm sure that the external monitor software was not designed to run the graphic card but to enable and to control some external monitor options.
Anyway, you could try to install this delivered software but please understand that this software will not replace the installed Toshiba nVidia graphic driver.

  • Colour look dull in PDF

    Hi everyone,
I have created several PDF files (Acrobat 6.0 Professional) from Word 2003 documents. In some of them colours used in headlines (blue, red, yellow, green) look dull (kind of dirty yellow or dark blue, etc.) while in other PDFs they look just like in original Word files. The settings have not been changed. What should I do in Word/Acrobat to ensure uniform original colours?
Any help ASAP would be much appreciated.

    Hi ctarampi
If you have multiple (crispy ) PDFs that you would like to merge, open them all in Preview.app.
Open the side bar. Mark multiple pages. Copy them.
Switch to the PDF you'd like to add the pages to. Insert them (cmd-v). With single pages you can also use drag and drop.
don't forget to save the changed PDF in the end.
I'm not sure if this fixes your problem. If not, maybe you could post some of the pdfs in question on the web, so I could look at the problem. I'd be interested.
