Colour profile problem in Mountain Lion

Hi all
Setting up a brand new MacBook Pro (10.8.4) for my boss and I have installed CS5 Standard suite on there. He’s a standard user, not an admin. I have installed three ICC profiles in his user’s profile folder (HD>Users>[User]>Library>ColorSync>Profiles) but they are not showing up in the list of profiles that Photoshop or Indesign recognise, even after restarting the programs. I copied them to HD>Library>ColorSync>Profiles and HD>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Color>Profiles>Recommended also but with the same result. I made sure he had Read & Write access to the profiles and to the folders – still no luck. After that I repaired the permissions, again no success.
Copies of the same profile files are being used on various macs and PCs without any problems. Quark 9 can see them. When logged in as an admin PS/ID can see the profiles.
I’m confused - any help appreciated!
Iain

Wow - that's done it. Thanks - I had forgotten about that utility. It found something wrong with each of the profiles - didn't make a note but it all sounded like minor stuff ("padding", "header") so I repaired them and they showed immediately in PS/ID. Guess Mountain Lion is more picky about profiles than Snow Leopard (what our other Macs run).
thanks again,
Iain

at least that the operator has confirmed to me that he called me. I also have problems with either the start of the mac with the power off. I can not understand if it crashes or is just very very slow.
Finally, I have a problem with the external hard disck. I often said to have been ejected incorrectly (not true) and I start to restore the startup recovery disk because disk utility is ineffective from the normal operating system .. is a shocking thing, but how you reduced. in four years it had never happened. seem to have windows or worse. Wake up.
I am an Italian, alas, and then I would like an answer to my language because my € are the same as German French or English.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Possible problem downloading Mountain Lion

It appears that a few people have had problems downloading Mountain Lion. Search for title
    mountain lion not downloading
Since Apple does not provide a DVD disk or any other media for installing the operating system, I am wondering if there is some sort of Checksum that comes with the downloaded file like a PGP signature or MD5 hash? Because if pepople are having problems downloading the Mountain Lion OS that means there is a possibility of corruption of the software after downloading.
How can you confirm the software is completely intact and valid?

One of a few exaples show is a Apple Discussion post called
    Mountain Lion Download Lost
There are others and I would have to wonder with the time it would take to download the Operating system (and in some cases cost) why is there no physical media?

  • Some serious problems with Mountain Lion

    Hi everyone,
I upgraded my mid 2010 15" MBP to Mountain Lion 2 days ago, and I have some serious problems with my machine now.
    - Wifi problem: like many members 's machines, mine has problem to connect to the wifi after sleep or restarting, I had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for it to connected to my home network. Anh I tried to remove all of my settings in System Preferences/Network and added new connection. And now it cant connect to wifi anymore. I'm writing this article while sitting on the floor with my Ethernet cable plugged in my MBP. I connected to internet through a DSL modem and a Airport Extreme as a bridge and Access Point. I also tried to set up all of my network device but my MBP can't connect to the wifi still.
    - Keyboard problem with Pages: I was very happy with the new iCloud syncing for Pages documents but after 5 minutes, I met a big problem with Mountain Lion. Whenever I type in Pages with Vietnames Keyboard( Mac OS X built in or from another developer: http://www.trankynam.com/gotv/ ), Pages stops working immediately. I can still drag the Pages's window around but can't type or do any editing. After that I have to force quit pages. It is really stupid that I'm writing a book in Pages and now I have to stop my working till apple fixes this ridiculous bug. I tried German Keyboard as well and Pages worked flawlessly. Do you hate Vietnamese, Apple?
    - Messages problem: Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I couln't send or receive any messages. It worked perfectly in Messages beta.
Does anyone have the same problems like me? Any solution such as how to reinstall Messages(I googled but found nothing)
Apple, please test your software more before release it. I feel like I have no computer at the moment because I can't work, can't surfing the web wirelessly and can't communicate with my friends.

    HI,
    - Messages problem: Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I couldn't send or receive any messages. It worked perfectly in Messages beta.
Does anyone have the same problems like me? Any solution such as how to reinstall Messages(I googled but found nothing)
What Messages to what type of Buddies or Contacts ?
    This
I found out that the problem with my wifi was my MBP received automatically a ridiculous IP such as 169.254.170.0 instead of 192.168.1.4 as it should be.
WIll be part of the Issue as will be DNS issues.
mDNSresponder crashed with Handsoff! v1.5.3. After upgrading Handsoff! to v2.0.2, it works again.
In this case mDNSresponder also being stopped will stop DNS working.
I would guess if you have resolved these that you can Chat to people again.

  • When submitting a target survey I get back an error.... I think this may be a safari problem or mountain lion problem as I used to be able to submit surveys on their survey site.

When submitting a target survey I get back an error.... I think this may be a safari problem or mountain lion problem as I used to be able to submit surveys on their survey site.  This problem occurs if I use my MacBook Pro or my iPad.  I want try  to win a 5000 gift card and can't win if I can't submit the survey.  It lets me fill out everything and only after I hit submit I receive an error.  Target says it's not their problem.  I curious to know if anyone else has tried and receive back an error after hitting the submit button.

Thanks.....I'll try that the next time I get a new receipt from target.  My old receipts are older than 72 hours now so I can't try Firefox with them.  I appreciate the response and will certainly try this and post a reply if I was successful in submitting the target survey.

  • OpenCL Problem in Mountain Lion

Hello, I'm a user from Hong Kong and I've a huge problem about Photoshop.
I've a 15" MacBook Pro (Graphic Card is 6490M) and installed Mountain Lion and Photoshop CS6. When I Check my System Info in Photoshop, it show the OpenCL is unavailable just like this:
Then I open the Performance tab in Preferences, and see that I cannot enable OpenCL and the GPU Acceleration like this:
Howcome? Is the problem of Mountain Lion or Photoshop? How can I slove the problem???
Thx for your help and sorry that my english is not good enough

Either your GPU isn't up to it, or the driver isn't up to it.
Mobile parts are usually more limited, and Apple's 10.8 drivers aren't exactly the best either.

  • Contact serius problem in Mountain Lion

    Dear frends,
I had a serius problem in Mountain Lion contacts:
All my contacts are on iCloud and when I istalled Mountain lion on my iMac and Macbookpro, in the contacts app many iCloud cards apperiar with ony the name and all the contact details are blank. On the iPhone, iPad and iCloud on web the same contact are all ok (I can see all the contact details). So I think is a probem of contact visualization.
I tried to active and deactive the icloud contacts, but no change.
In the genius they tried to open a new user and activte  icloud contacts, but nothig changes.
    Anybody have some solution?
    Thank in advance!!

I also have exactly the same problem as FiddleMonster.
I get no audio from my firewire audio interface (Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP) upon installing Mountain Lion on my iMac (Summer 2009) today. As FiddleMonster said, so far, no firewire audio is coming out. Tried to restart, plug cable off and then on again... Not working.

  • Is Samba a problem in Mountain Lion at the mo

    Hi
A few weeks ago I put a question about Samba ......I didn't have a response that could help or solve my problem ( as is life sometimes! ).
It would seem from what I am reading on the net that there are many problems with Samba in Mountain Lion.
I can't browse to my Mountain Lion macs from my Windows 7 pc and it's proving a bit of a nightmare....it means I can't back the macs up from my pc ( or from any pc) as I can't browse to their drives. I'm having to go up to the macs and manually back them up everyweek which isn't so elegant.
Are other people able to browse to their macs in Mountian Lion from their pcs?s
I can browse from mac to mac using Samba......but I don't know where to look or what to try next.
    Thanks for your advice.

I have the same problem on Mountain Lion with my brand new Retina MacBook Pro. Not even a single left click with the trackpad works.

  • Full screen colour profile problem

I just posted this as feedback to Apple and was curious to see if anyone was having the same problem:
I have a dual monitor setup: One Eizo CG222W and one Eizo CG210. The 222W is my primary display (menu bar on this one). Both monitors are calibrated and profiled with a Spyder3 and ColorEyes Display Pro. I have the profiles loaded on both displays. It is worth noting that both (particularly the 222W) are wide gamut, so you may well not see this happening if you are looking at an Apple Cinema display (no offence, but you're just not going to see this so pronounced on an Apple display). To put it into perspective, I have just bought the CG222W and was not noticing any issues with the CG210 because its gamut is narrower (but still wider than a cinema display).
So, if I view an image within Aperture (not full screen), then it looks normal, but when I hit full screen and look at the same image (on the same display), it is noticeably over-saturated. As a check I also opened the same image in Photoshop (on the same display) and it looks exactly the same as when viewed in the normal (non full screen) view of Aperture.
It is clear that there is a colour profile problem with Aperture. It appears that when full screen mode is selected, a different profile is loaded for the display, or a different working space (if Aperture provides such functionality). I won't be doing any image adjustments in full screen mode until this has been corrected.

There is well documented issue with this problem. The fix is to set your default monitor to whichever monitor you are using to view Aperture in full screen, using color sync utility.
The reason you don't have this problem in PS is because it has its own color management within the software.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers

  • DNS problem after Mountain Lion upgrade

Yesterday, I upgraded my Lion to Mountain Lion and after that I can't connect to websites or make use of services that use DNS. I've tried the regular 'solutions' that were posted in forums, but nothing has worked for me so far. Things I've tried:
    - Change MTU to 1300
    - Shut down Wifi and restart it
    - Reboot computer on several occasions
    - Change DNS servers
    - Remove Wifi network adapter and add a completely new profile
    - Flush DNS cache with the both the old command (pre-Lion) and the new command (post-Lion)
    - Install Mountain Lion again (after that, my sound doesn't work anymore either)
    - Stop mDNSResponder via Launchctl and start it again
The only things I can think of next is to connect via LAN, connect via a different network or a complete clean install of Mountain Lion and see if that works.
    Symptoms:
    - Cannot connect to websites and services via URL
    - CAN connect to websites using their IP-addresses
    - Hence, Skype works as it connects using IP-addresses
    - Can use SSH
    - Have excellent connection within my own network at home (SSH, AFP file server, router web interface)
    Config:
    Late 2007 MBP 17"
    No VPN's
    No proxies
Does anybody have any ideas what I can do to alleviate this problem or know of anybody else that has the same problem?

Tried with different WAP and they all work fine except the one I have at home. Seems to be a problem between the new Mountain Lion drivers of my Airport card MBP model A1229 and the ZTE H220N wireless router.

  • I am having major problems installing Mountain Lion.  After downloading successfully and attempting to install the process froze after restarting - ended up hanging on the OSX Recovery screen. Wouldn't restart properly without me selecting a startup disc.

Three times I went through this same process for the same outcome. I have redownloaded Mountian Lion three times. I removed the Lion install package from the Applications folder in case this was causing a problem. Deleted and remounted the Mountain Lion package each time. Finally got the package to run through the install, restart and begin the file install - at the end it failed and I was left with a blank startup disc and no data. I have backed up. Through the OSX Recovery screen I selected a Lion reinstall - checked my credential against the app store -fine. But then failed on the reinstall.  Now doing a recovery from current backup but wondering the **** is going on. Wasted over 24 hours of processor time.

  • How do I investigate and solve Pages, Notes, Mail intermittent 'offline' and failure to synchronise problems with Mountain Lion after waking from Sleep

When I wake up my iMac after sleep, i get a variety of intermittent - but mostly FREQUENT and FRUSTRATING problems including:
Notes app is offline - as stated by a message in the window bar. If I close Notes and reopen, the app appears to be online. However, Notes does NOT update with items I know are on my iPad or in the web iCloud. Furthermore, if I create a new note on my iMac, the new Note does not upload to iCloud. This is IRRITATING!
Pages and Numbers - similar situation. I can edit a Pages or Numbers document on my iMac (stored on the iCloud). But then the Pages doc doesn't ALWAYS get uploaded to the iCloud. Then I end up with conflicted versions of the file in the cloud, my iPad, and the two iMacs I use. Then I get CONFUSED and FRUSTRATED. For example, consider these steps:
Open Pages on my iMac, edit an iCloud file, then save and close file
Pages/File/Open/iCloud - I note in the iCloud file list the edited file has a little 'cloud' icon against its name. From experience this warns me of TROUBLE - namely that the file has NOT yet been uploaded to the iCloud. However, I just checked the new Beta iCloud on the web, and to my surprise, the file edited on my iMac is apparently in the icloud. But now, I edit the iCloud version, and the changes DO NOT appear on my iMac pages version. OK I realise its in Beta version...
So now, I open my iPad, open Pages. I note the iCloud version of my edited document updates to my iPad, as indicated by a blue download line. 'It just works' as Steve Jobs claimed at Apple Developers Conference a couple of years back. Again, the edited version form my iPad is now 'up in the cloud' correctly....
Oh - and now mysteriously the Pages version on my Imac has become synchronised with my iPad/iCloud version! Luck ... but that's about all I can say. It doesn't always happen. I'm LUCKY today.
Meanwhile, the Note I created on my iMac (Item 1 above) has still not yet appeared on my iPad or iCloud... even though I HOPE it would be given that Pages on my iMac, iPad and iCloud are chatting nicely now! The Note says it's in my iCloud - but  NOT. Similarly, notes updated or added on my iPad, which appear in iCloud, are NOT on my iMac.
Mail - last but NOT LEAST! and MOST INFURIATING!!! My Gmail, Vodafone NZ and Orcon accounts (in Mail) are all active and receiving after the night's sleep. However, my iCloud mail account has the dreaded offline.
The message on Mail is "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “ICloud - [email protected]” or try again. The server returned the error: The server “p03-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993." Despite the message, mail was received this morning at 8:59 am ... some time before I woke-up my computer (a late start this morning).
If I sent an email FROM my .me iCloud account TO my Vodafone account, the message whooshes away, it's in my SENT box. But it doesn't get delivered to my Vodafone account on my iMac Mail, or anywhere else, Despite the message being listed in my 'Sent' mailbox!!!
In contrast, a message sent from my Gmail account to my Vodafone account (in Mail) gets sent and received almost instantly on  my iMac and iPad.
All of the above mishaps are extremely frustrating, as I rush off from working on my iMac at home, get to my iMac at work and find documents I have been updating on my home iMac not available correctly on my work iMac ... or even my iPad. I expect these things from Apple to 'just work'. Furthermore, emails I THINK I have sent (as indicated by them appearing in the Sent folder on my home iMac) ... have not actually been despatched.
Frankly, I can no longer rely or recommend the Apple iCloud stuff, so I am converting more and more to relying on DropBox and Google.
These problems only became apparent since I updated to one of the Mountain Lion versions... I can't say when.
Oh - if I shutdown and restart the computer my Mail works OK. Guess what, I don't want to do that each time I want to use Mail!
    Technicals:
My iMac is connected by Ethernet cable to my Apple TimeCapsule. The TimeCapsule is connected by Ethernet cable to my Orcon Genius Modem.
Obviously, my internet connection is A-OK, as I am able to use Firefox to make this posting!
    Mountain Lion 10.8.4
