Colour swatches

Hi everyone,
I am very impressd with the idea of adobe kuler and the fact that you can share is great.
Here is my question, lets just say you have designed a layout with a Red background, Green font, Blue stroke for example.
But you want to give them variations of this layout lets say Cyan background, Magenta font and Yellow stroke.
is there a way to master click on a colour and say replace all of this colour with this colour over a single page?, multipul pages? or whole document?
This would save an incredible amount of time and I am sure somebody at adobe must have thought of this.
Thanks in advance
Jake

From the Swatches Panel I clicked on the "Flyout (downward triangle)" > I selected "New Color Swatch"
From the popout screen "New Color Swatch" > I selected "Color Mode" dropdown > toward the bottom of the list I selected "Web".
From there I was able to scroll through many colours and click "Add" for the ones that I wanted. Thank so much for your help guys!
Thank you,

  • How to delete a spot colour swatch set up incorrectly

Hi i'm running indesign CC2014 and having problems deleting a spot colour swatch 877 initial set up incorrectly as a lab spot colour, rather than choosing from the colour books
I've since converted it to a processed lab colour and still it won't delete. I also can't i find the colour and where it is used in my document.
I've tried to add metallic coated 877c  (correctly this time) swatch again but it won't allow two swatches with the same name.
Can anyone help as i really need to correct this for the printers.

Is there anyway to find this out as i'm dealing with a 60 page brochure and not easy to manually find.
You can use the preflight panel to find all instances of a spot color.
In the lower left corner of the doc window you can define a preflight profile and apply it to the document:
Here I've made a profile named No Spots with Spot color checked under Color Spaces not Allowed
With Preflight on the profile will list any placed objects using a spot. in this case a PS monotone named Untitled-1

  • Why won't colour swatches I create stay in the colour swatch palette?

Whenever I create a new colour in the colour swatches it only stays there for a couple of actions while working on a project.  I understand from others that once they create a colour it stays there.  Why can't I get that to happen?

Make sure you save each swatch or swatch combination as an ACO file. Use the dropdown menu near the top right of the swatches panel.
You can then load named swatches, or replace the default swatch with a named swatch - using the sme dropdown menu.
You can also download swatches designed by others from the Kuler website.

  • Organising Colour Swatches Tab/Palette

    Hi everyone
Re: InDesign CS5 colour swatch palette/tab.
I do artwork for two monthly magazines which consist of editorial and paid advertisements. These ads are either designed by me or supplied by customers and change regularly. Over the years of receiving artwork in various formats - pdf being the most common, my swatches palette has grown to be almost out of control. Every month I do a sweep of the swatches, removing unused and converting any spot to cmyk manually (I have had transparency issues with spot colours), but my main issue is with the jumble of colour swatches. I know if I create a new document and import all the swatches from the previous month issues, the swatches will arrange themselves in order - all PMS colours together, all cmyk colours together etc, but as I don't necessarily want to create new artwork each month I open up last month's doc and strip out old text, ads and replace with the current monthly info.
Is there any way I can arrange my swatches in order?
My screenshot only shows half of the swatches in the palette.
I would be really grateful if someone could show me how to fix this, I accept that I may have some bad working practices going on here.
    Thanks, Liz

  • Js import colour swatches from an other file

    Hi all
I am trying to import the colour swatches from an other file into the current document.
I was hoping this would be just like importing Par or Char Styles...
    ...    app.activeDocument.importStyles(_theFormat_, sourceFile, importPolicy);
But I have so far had no luck.
Can anybody give me some hints.
    Thank you very much
    Romano

    Hi Romano,
Can you please try the below JS code, The code is just import the swatches from the desktop document onto the active InDesign document.
    var myColorDoc = new File("~/Desktop/color.indd");
    app.activeDocument.loadSwatches(myColorDoc);
    thx

  • Colour Swatches not Consistent

I've been experiencing weird result when I copy a pattern from a illustrator file to another: the pattern would change the colours itself! Even when I save the original swatches of the colours and open them in the second file, the colours changed too!
Does anyone know why? Sometimes the colours are find but sometimes not...it seems the colour swatches are not consistent between the files...
    Thanks!

Some colours of the pattern adopted the colours(swatches) of the other pattern I pasted previously.
The colours are "linked" to the swatches so I could change the colour just by adjusting the swatches. Placing the second pattern should create another complete set of swatches but it didn't. The problem is that the swatches were changed when placed in the second file and became complete different colours.
As you can see in the images I attached, the yellow stripes in the first image became white in the second one.
These patterns are imported from a disc of a pattern book I bought. They came as eps files. I wonder if that's related...
    Thanks!

  • Indesign 3 colour swatches lost???

    Hi All,
I have a problem in Indesign...
When I close a document which uses colour swatches that I have created the colour swatches are removed from the 'swatches' tab
I don't know how I can save the swatches for use in other documents,
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Louis

    I Louis,
if you want to have your new colors always when you create a new document, you need to create the colors in the swatches panel when NO documents are opened. By this way, you configure your swatches panel by default.
Its the same thing when you want to define a font by default, or disable the black border of a new block etc… Set what you want when no document are opened.
    Hope its help…

  • Two items same colour swatch; showing differently!

I am constantly having this problem so I thought I'd ask for a bit of guidance.
I have a colour swatch that I use regularly, and I use it for table headers a lot. For some reason on the same page, using the same swatch the table headers look different!
    Colour Settings:
    Settings: Custom
RGB: Monitor - RGB - Display
CMYK: ColorSYnc CMYK - Generic CMYK Profile
    Colour Management Policies:
    RGB: Off
    CMYK: Preserve Embedded Profiles

Reading the RGB values on that screenshot in Photoshop indicates that the orange is identical on both those headers. I think it's your monitor that makes it appear different.
You can read the CMYK values by opening the the Separations Preview pallette, switching View to Separations, and hovering over the orange area. I bet it's the same values for both headers.

  • Colour Swatch needed!

    Hi guys,
Having a complete dilemna with choosing a colour swatch to
run over 16 sections of a website. I'd read loads about we-safe
colours, HSB, RGB and so on but can't seem to come up with anything
that works together. I've even tried setting the S and B and
tweaking the H - but it's still jarring.
I need 16 web-safe colours which will be suitable for text as
well as background graphics - ideally they should be Web2.0 feel
colours and obviously all need to work together. It's of course
fine to use one colour multiple times as long as it is different
variations - e.g. light, medium and dark blue.
Any help or advice would be most appreciated!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    James

  • Incorrect colours swatches and conversions

I am working for a business and have come up with a range of colours for our business style sheet.
We are now creating a style range based on rgb but taking the hex values from the conversion. We are using the the rgb values firstly as some colours which are grey. This ensures there are no red in them. eg: 33 33 33 then the hex value #212121.
WE are both using PS - RBGAdobe 1998 and monitor RGB in the proof setup. We are both using the same imported colour .aco swatch.
When my work collegue imports the colour swatches she sees the correct values, however my computer is changing the vaules and I don't understand why????
    Any explanations????

I agree with teh prevous poster. You are doing something wrong with your color management most likely, but your terminology really is unclear and vague. Sounds like you are trying to produce web colors, for which no color management is even required.

  • Where are my colour swatches and stroke choices

I have a big problem with Illustrator and it happens all the time. I have made a pattern and although it works fine I now have no colours in my swatches just the patterns and my line choices for strokes is now limited to one choice. If I open a new doc the default materials are back and line choices. It's obviously a preference somewhere but I haven't the foggiest idea where to find it. It's very frustrating because I can't reset to the defaults and I can't append colours to the swatches or append new strokes to the line choices.
Can someone tell me how to get this working as I am lost

Click on the Show Swatch Kinds Menu icon (2nd from the left at the bottom of the Swatches panel).
    Tick Show All Swatches.
