Coloured background behind text area

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to make a coloured background behind the text area. For example, like the yellow title "Apple biometric earpods..." in the webpage; Apple biometric Earpods just a hoax, 'simply made up' for fun - Tech2
I have lots of titles in a document that I want to apply this style to so dont want to do it by drawing lots of boxes.
I have got a bit of a work around where you use an underline, and go into underline options and make it really wide and give it a negative offset so it is in the middle of the text but this is hard to control the gap so you have to add a space to the star and end of each sentence.
is there a better way?
thanks,

Nope, that's how it's done. Turn on the custom underline as part of the paragraph style.

    I put a background behind my headline text, but when i preview, the background jumps about 4 rows away from the text, whats going on
    I had initially applied character style before dropping the coloured box behind.

    You can do all of this in FCE -
    • Place your jpeg photo (just the photo, no text) in your sequence.
    • Place a text generator clip (Boris Title 3D, Lower Third, etc.) on the next higher video track, above the photo. (If your photo is on V2, put the text clip above it on V3 ...)
    • You can then modify/adjust the picture and the text independently.
    Note: you may need to add a track - just drag your clip into the grey area above the existing video tracks and a new track will be added; or Control-click in the grey area above the existing video tracks and then click Add Track.

  • Something has happened to Firefox Nightly display. I get the text but colour, background graphics,etc are all gone

    For example this page I am now working on is simply text with some text in blue, no graphics on page and an empty black and white bar at the top of the page under Ask a Question

    Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings and that you allow pages to choose their colors in Firefox.

  • Dynamic background behind text?

    At the present time I am creating my bible texts externally using a pleasant background, and saving as a JPEG. I superimpose this over the video. This works very well, but I would like to use a moving background at times.
    The problem with the JPEG superimpose method is when I resize the text in the canvas, the background is also resized.
    This question is probably located somewhere in the documentation, but so far I have not found it.

  • How to change linux text area background color?

    Hi,
    I like to know the method. just like in windows platform.

    Just like change the text area color in notepad.exe
    so i mean X11 and gnome.
    do you mean inside a terminal when you're running X
    No, i can change the color in gnome terminal.
    But i can not change the color in openldev(or any other gtk apps)
    I hate the default color(white),
    want text background color as grey, without configure each apps color.

  • In Aperture, how do you put a background layer behind text?

    How do you put a background layer behind the text to offset the color of the pic from the text color? Right now, some pics have whites and blacks that drown out the text, making it hard to read...

    I forgot: if you rather want to add a background instead of changing the color of your text:
    To add a background behind a texbox,
    simply edit the layout (Click "Edit Layout", click "+") and add a Photo Box;
    drag the PhotoBox behind your text field.
    click "edit content" and add a picture to the background box.
    You'll need to import a suitable background photo, or crop some suitable background from one of your images.

  • JMenuItem showing but behind a text area

    Hello, one of my JMenuItems is not able to be viewed correctly because it overlaps a text area and the text area is I guess shown over the top of it. Is there a way to have the JMenuItem be shown on top of the text area? This seems simple but I looked at the API's and couldn't find a method that would work.

    Okay, here is the code:
    JPanel right;
    JTextArea results;
    JScrollPanel scroll;
    right = new JPanel();
    results = new JTextArea();
    results.setSize(500, 500);
    results.setEditable(false);
    scroll = new JScrollPane(results);
    scroll.setWheelScrollingEnabled(true);
    scroll.add(results);
    right.add(scroll);Now I have all swing but the JScrollPane and JTextArea are like one white dot on my gui.

  • Selecting Graphics Behind Text

    Hello,
    I’m using Pages ’08 and working with a neat, layered, grouped graphic. There are three layers: a dark background graphic, a lighter middle graphic, and white text in a text box on top. All three use the exact same dimensions and are stacked one on top of the other for a total of three layers, grouped. None of the layers cause wrap.
    I’d like to select one of the graphics to edit the color and find that I cannot do it without ungrouping the items, moving the text layer out of the way, applying the new color, putting the text layer back in place, and then regrouping everything. It seems like unnecessary steps. It seems as if I should be able to use a modifier key and do a series of clicks to activate the layer that I want, much like when I used QuarkXPress and InDesign. Is there a similar key stroke in Pages?
    The user’s manual says “To select a floating object that’s behind text, place the pointer outside the text area, press the Command key, and then drag across the page until the object’s selection handles appear.” That doesn’t solve my concern, though.
    I've attached a sample of what my graphic looks like. It would be great if there were key strokes to use. If not I'll have to go back to each instance of the graphic and make changes to each one.
    Please let me know if you have an idea of how to make this work.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Pages does not have any modifier keys to click down through layers like other DTP software.
    Unlocking and staggering the layers is the only way. There is an averaging command that does however let you centre them back on top of each other.

  • Changing the colour of a text box when the value is zero

    Hello
    I have some code in an expression that changes the fill colour of a text box in a matrix in an SSRS report.
    When the value in the year fields is greater than zero then fine it changes the colour to what I want it to be but when the value is zero then the colour just stays white.
    I'm not testing the value in the year fields but in the Tier field. It seems to default to no colour when the year fields are 0 though.
    The code I am using is as follows
    =switch(Fields!TIER.Value=1,"PaleGreen",Fields!TIER.Value=2,"Cyan",Fields!TIER.Value=3,"Beige")
    This code is in the year field textbox fill property.
    I have loaded a screenshot to show an example showing what is happening in the matrix.
    Thanks for any help on this
    Regards
    John

    Hi John,
    According to your description, you want to change the background color of a textbox when its value is greater than zero. If in this scenario, we can use the expression below to control the BackgroundColor property of the textbox:
    =iif(Fields!SalesAmount.Value>0,"Yellow","White")
    If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.
    Thanks,

  • Weird grey boxes behind type areas

    Okay this one's got me scratching my head...
    Quark Xpress 7.31 exporting a page containing a news story, several photos and a few ads: Intel dual core PowerMac Tower with 2GB RAM running 10.4.11 and CS3.
    We export the page as a .ps file from Quark Xpress using the "Export Layout as PDF" function and fire the file into a Distiller 8 watch folder. Distiller spits out a PDF in the usual way BUT... now all of a sudden we're seeing square 30% grey boxes behind all of the type areas on the page.
    The grey areas are precisely rendered to match the text box locations in the Quark Xpress layout, and look as thought the Acrobat 8 application is generating them - almost as though it's a form of markup. It also resembles the effect you get if you took a standard PDF with embedded type and swept a test area with the text editing tool; the area you swept would highlight in light grey... which looks like the effect on-screen - only it's permanently active and cannot be disabled.
    If we open the same 'erroneous' PDF on another Mac in our department running the same OS version and Acrobat 8 it looks the same with grey boxes. If we open the same PDF on a Mac running the same OS version and Acrobat 6, it looks fine with no grey boxes at all.
    In all instances, the grey boxes do not print if we send them to a proofer or the RIP. It appears to be a display issue only. But it's mighty worrisome come press time... I've also run permission fixes, Onyx, Applejack, etc. to no avail.
    Anyone? Could it be prefs related?

    What colour space / tint / values are you getting inside the output
    preview inside of Acrobat when you click inside these grey boxes?

  • Colour values for text keep changing, how can I stop this?

    Hi, I am using a bright blue/turquoise text against a dark purple background. For some reason with some of the text "clips" the values keep changing to something else after I click OK? Why is this and how do I stop it from doing it? It seems not to happen with other ones I have done, with same values on same sequence.

    Sorry Tom, it's the most basic options; the "Text" video generator from the "Text" drop down menu in Effects, and then the "Colour Solid" video generator under "Matte" in Effects. I'm using DV-PAL at 25fps. To set the background solid colour, I originally colour picked from a logo supplied by client, and then noted down the values from the HSB sliders. I practically did the same with the text colour except I picked the colour from the colour wheel first and played with the sliders until it looked right on the background. I am using these colours for both "black screen" with text and for bottom corner third (style, not generator) name boxes. The difference between the two is that the name boxes have an opacity of 82% whereas the "black screen" versions have an opacity of 100%. Although there has been some change to the values of the background colour for the "black screen" versions (which I actually prefer), I am able to get these to stay uniformly now, the text however is at the original values for the original clips and then changes with the later ones I've done even though background values are ok. Whereas the values for the name boxes have changed with both the background and text on the last two. Sorry, hope that is enough detail but not too much : )

  • Problems with coloured background in Dreamweaver CS6

    Hi,
    Probably best if I attach images rather than describe the problem, so that's what I'll do.
    As you can see there is a grey bar to the side of the page and it is the same at the bottom when I zoom out. I'm making this website as part of my Uni course and I have to follow a specific template so, please, don't judge me on what it looks like... lol.
    The code for the background section looks like this:
    body {
              background-color: #CC9966;
              background-repeat: repeat-y;
    I have also coloured the footer.
    #footer {
    colours for text within the
    footer division, ie <p id="footer">
    color: #2D2D2D;
    background-color: #CC9966;
    So what do I have to change to make the colour fill the background entirely? I'm an amateur so please don't use too much technical language. I'm sure it's a simple fix, anyway.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Read Only Display of Radio group and Text area with counter not working

    Hello,
    I am using Apex 3.2, with 10g for the database
    I have this form, with fields that will set to read only when status = 'closed'
    All of the fields display as read only except for 2. I cannot figure out why this is not working correctly.
    1st field is Issues that is a text area with character counter, with a sql query behind it, that is set to null unless the query is pulling in the data.
    2nd field is Status which is a radio group that will not display as read only when status = 'closed'
    I have other fields on the form with the same format and they change to read only when the status = 'closed', I have even copied the pl/sql expression from one field to these fields and it still doesn't work correctly. I have also tried javascript for an on load event, which works, but once I click on the save button, it disables all of the page items, which works correctly, but I purposely forget to enter information, to make sure the validations are firing correctly, which it does, but the script disables everything, not allowing me to correct the errors. The javascript is firing on the on page load event.
    Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    Dung,
    That API seems to have a bug, it returns true/false/null, so you could use 'return not nvl(htmldb_util.current_user_in_group(p_group_name => 'APP Admin'),false)' to get a false value.
    Unfortunately there's another problem: using the read-only attributes for checkbox or radiogroup item makes them hidden. My suggestion would be to create another item that has disabled="disabled" in the HTML Form Element attribute in the item definition and display that item or the non-disabled item alternately, using conditions based on the current_user_in_group logic.
