Colouring text in photoshop elements 9

I have tried choosing the text layer, selecting the text and choosing a colour from the menu at the top of the screen and I have tried selecting each letter individually and trying to block fill them with the paintpot tool,but the letters remain black. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to justify text in Photoshop Elements?

I am trying to justify text in Photoshop Elements 10 but can't find any place that I can do that. Can I justify text and, if so, how?

Using a type tool, click the Align pop-up menu and select any of the following:
Left Align Aligns the left edge of each text line in the layer to the initial cursor position.
Center
Aligns the center of each text line in the layer to the initial cursor position.
Right Align
Aligns the right edge of each text line in the layer to the initial cursor position.

Problem with text in photoshop elements 7

I am trying to make a recipe book from odd fun food on-line. Instead of typing all of the text in below the pictures of the food, I tried to copy it from the website and paste it onto photoshop 7. I selected "new" and then tried to paste, the option wasn't there. I then went back to the website and saved the text to my documents. I named it "pop". It was saved as "pop.txt". I went back to photoshop and tried to open the file. An error message appeared stating that "the file could not be opened because it is the wrong type of file". I then went back to the website and copied the text once again and pasted it onto Microsoft Works Word Processor. I saved it on there and it was saved as a ".wps" file. Once again photoshop could not open it because "it was the wrong type of file". All I want to to is to be able to copy text or a picture from a site or Word or whatever and then be able to paste it onto Photoshop Elements 7. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how. If not, please give me another alternative. I would appreciate it so very much! I have been trying to do this for 4 days now! Losing patience!!! Thank you!

You can use the type tool in photoshop elements 7.
1. copy your text as you did before. (i copied some your post)
2. In pse7, using the picture you want to paste the text in, select horizontal type tool.
3. Click on the image where you want your text (you can move the txt after you paste)
4. After you click on the image with the type tool, the cursor will blink.
Just right click and select paste.
5. Now your text is pasted into a editable type layer, which can be changed just like
any other type layer.

Editing text in photoshop elements

I would like to edit text in a band promo poster created in photoshop. When I open the file in photoshop elements, all I see is the main photograph of our band, I can't find the text. Any suggestions on where to look ? All I want to do is change our gig date and location information. Thanks, Tom R.

Thanks for the message. I followed up with the company who sent the file. They used photo shop to dress up our band picture, the rest of the poster (text, etc.) was done using In Design. I didn't know this. What I received was just the photo shop portion, so only one layer with picture. I need to get a trial version of In Design to see if I can figure out a work flow. Kern text in Photoshop Elements?

I am trying to find text kerning in Photoshop Elements 7.0. Am I missing it or is it not included in Elements?

There IS a way to "kern" test in Elements. It's laborious but works (nothing else does).
Step 1: Start typing your text.
Step 2: Place a space between letters to be kerned.
Step 3: Select the space and resize it … for example if your text is 60 pt. select 30 pt.
Voila.
You can do the same with Line spacing
Hit return a few times and then select the "empty" spec and resize it up or down.
It's manual and requires a few trys but works nicely. Have fun!

Adding and changing text in Photoshop elements

Hello- I just downloaded photoshop elements for mac. Can anyone tell me why when I use the type tool to add text to a photo, the text appears really small, even when I try to change the text size, which indicates it is maxed out at a size of 72?

Possibly you are working on an image with a very high resolution.
Simply type a value manually, over 100 straight into the box with 72.

Editing text in Photoshop Elements 9

I scanned a photo and it has text already on the photo, but it is blurry. How can I fix just the text portion of the photo?

If the blur is small with compared to the size of text, you can try removing the blur.
With the Marquee tool, outline a selection around the text, right click the image and select "Layer via copy"
Select the newly created layer and use Enhance> Adjust Sharpness. You can learn more about sharpening images in PSE from here
Make a mask around the processed layer and remove the effect of Sharpening from the unwanted area

Photoshop elements 11 trial ? cant get anything but the assistant to download

may have to try a different brand ? the main thing i need is to see if i can do the types of fonts i want , 3d and stuff like that on my phots that i make into posters . am i wasting my time with this ? according to the photoshop cs6 , my windows vista is not compatible ? what should i do ?

Print Color Management Problem w. Photoshop Elements and Tiger/Leopard

Has anyone tried printing with ICC profiles through Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac? Apparently, it does not work on Tiger nor Leopard? My prints look very dark and over-saturated.
The Datacolor folks, who make the Spyder3 calibrators I'm using, say my prints look like they are being "double color managed," possibly once by PSE and once by the printer driver (even though it's turned off).
Over at the Adobe Forums some say it's a problem with Leopard. I'm not so sure, because I found that printing color management works fine on a Mac with Photoshop Elements 4.01 and Tiger. Any comments? Thanks.

Aha! Got it. Adobe has confirmed that the problem is on their end. PSE 6 is double color managing the images. Here's what one user got in reply from Adobe on the subject. There are two separate answers:

After consulting with my colleagues about the issue you raised, I can let you know the following:
The issue is both on our as well as the driver software side and the workaround we have given is the best available at this time. This issue is affecting all printers, not just Epson or Canon.
The soft proofing effect that you are seeing in the print preview is indeed an attempt at soft proofing. However since Photoshop Elements managed prints are incorrectly double colour managed it is not as useful as it was initially designed.
As to the exact details of why this occurred, we have no official information.
We believe that this will resolve the issues you are experiencing, however, should the reply not help solve the problem, please contact us again, quoting the case number given above, and we will re-open the case.

We have had word back from our engineers regarding your issue.
The Photoshop Elements team are aware of the problem and are working with Apple and the printer manufacturers to get this to work correctly. In the meantime, the only workaround is to switch off colour management in Photoshop Elements and let the printer handle the colour management.
Unfortunately we can not make an estimation as to when a fix will be provided. We will close the case for the time being as there really is nothing more we can do about this issue besides offering the suggested workaround. Closing this case does not mean that the research will stop however and the engineers are working on a solution to this.
As the tech noted, let the printer handle the color instead. Tell PSE not to manage color so it is the step sending the data unaltered. When the print dialogue comes up, under the Color Correction heading, change the pull down menu to "ColorSync". In the menu below that, choose the correct profile for the paper you're using. If the Brightness menu is still active, look for any choice that allows you to turn it off. If none exists, leave it on Normal. If the options below that for Color Balance and Intensity are not grayed out, make sure they are at the center positions (no effect).
These steps are the same as before, except you're doing them in reverse. Photoshop is doing nothing and the print driver is handling the ColorSync chores rather than the other way around.

Character tracking in Photoshop Elements

I am using Photoshop Elements version 10. I am trying to increase the spacing of characters. Everywhere I go for help it says to use the character panel under Windows. I don't have that. Am i missing something?

From what I have found...you can adjust the spacing between lines of text in Photoshop Elements 10, but there is no adjusting the spacing between letters within the program as offered.

Photoshop Elements 10 - 'Save As' text no longer displaying existing file, which matches the text so far entered

Photoshop Elements 10 (On Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop)
Until recently, 'save as' showed any existing file name, which exactly matched the text so far typed.
That's particularly useful when creating multiple photo files, with suffixes of '(1)', '(2)', etc.
Suddenly that great facility has stopped, forcing me to always type the complete file name for each new item.
I assume that a setting has been lost.
How do I get it back?

I held the keys down for at least 15 seconds in my previous attempts.
I’ve just tried the entries, holding the keys for around 30 seconds, with the same results (or lack of same).
Thinking about my thought of copying the Preference settings from the same program on my desktop, I looked on the Internet for Photoshop Elements 10 Preferences file locations. I found a display, which suggested: C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements (9.0\10.0\11.0)\Editor
From that, it appears that mine may be held in:
C:\Users\Fred Niven\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Editor
But I’m reluctant to copy any such file from my Windows 8.1 desktop’s Photoshop Elements 10’s file(s),
to replace the equivalent file(s) on this laptop, until I know that I’m replacing the correct file(s).
I’d create a System Restore Point beforehand anyway, just-in-case.

Having trouble 'replacing colour' in Photoshop Elements 12 + help does not work?

I was trying to use the 'replace colour' function as found by going :-

Adjust Colour >
Replace Colour
Not knowing how it worked, I tried the context sensitive help in light blue. 'Learn More About'
This would not load but gave me this response:-

This 'help' seems to work everywhere else [well at least in the places I have tried so far.]
So why is this? has anyone else had this specific area of HELP fail? I need to know is it just my system, is it accessing this HELP stuff over the net, or is it preloaded when you by the retail pack?
Course it would be in an area I can not make work!
Note Other areas of help in this general menu area work eg
i.e. the options either side of this all work fine.

Thanks i think I got it working of a fashion.
Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.
Sorry I can't post the pictures as the Lingerie Mfg, has me under non disclosure.
The scenario is:- say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!
Not a lack of interest in your post, but I was out, and tried to log in to this site; which I could do, on my iPad Air / 5 [whatever its the new one]. And tried to 'sign in' - but it just hung at the
"Join Adobe Community" adobe sign in splash screen! with he little whell spinning around continuously!!!
I have Safari on this iPad. Guess that is all it runs.
So technology is not my friend today!

Colour issue with 'Save for Web' - Photoshop Elements 6 (Mac)

This is a similar issue to this:

Except the user who posted the above was using photoshop cs3, and I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.
When I work on a photo, I get it just right, then go to Save for Web, and the original it previews is loads lighter than the orginal I was working on in the first place. See 'Picture 1' attachment.
I have changed the colour settings on the Save for Web options - I've chosen each one in turn, and none fix the problem.
There seems to be no similar option in PSE6 to this that fixed it in CS3:
IN the save for web box there is a small round button with an arrow in it (near the Done button).
In the list when this button is pressed deselect Convert to sRGB
I used to use PSE2 on a PC, and never had this problem. I didn't need to mess about with colour profiles or anything similar on the PC. The original was the original, not a washed out version of the original. Why spend ages getting the file just right, only for Save for Web to screw it up?
Any advice to fix this would be much appreciated.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. It came installed on my HP Desktop. I am can not get the warp text tool to work. It has worked in the past. Once I click warp text, the little window does not pop up, and if I try to do anything else after I click warp

Just sounds the ding, alert, can still slightly navigate the program but can not use any other tools after clicking warp text. I just have to open task manager and close the program. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just need to uninstall and re install. Having trouble finding out how to uninstall and reinstall because the program came pre installed on my desktop.

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
*Press Yes

Now, in photoshop elements 9 when editing, colours displayed are not correct, seems gama number has changes ?

up to now I had no problem when editing photos with photoshop elements 9. Due to an unknown reason/event the colours displayed , now, are not correct : it looks like the gama adjustment has been changed and the photo rendition is uncorrect. If I display the same photos with other photo editing software ( DPP from Canon for example, or Xnview) , the colours are correct !!... Can you help me ?

Thank you for trying to help me. In fact, I resolved my problem by changing the default ICC profile for my screen : I entered the parameters settings panel, screen definition and then advanced settings where I could choose another ICC profile.
