Colours inverted in certain images

Hi there,
Just now I discovered that certain images on a couple of my sites have inverted colours. This wasn't seen before and nothing was changed (nor the images itself, nor the browser or OS).
I found very little on this searching the internet, so does anybody know what might cause this all of a sudden?
I am using Safari 4.0. Images appear to be good in other browsers.
Thanks!

Hmm, the problem seems to be fixed in Safari 4.0.1.

  • Screen colours inverted, also flickers back to normal

    Model: HP15-N096EA
    When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are inverted i.e. blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. at times it flickers back to normal colours i.e blue shows as blue etc.
    I have checked magnifers invert colours isn't turned on but when I do turn it on the inverted colours switch to normal colours obviously. There is also a vertical shimmer like every other vertical line is missing or phases in and out.
    I have booted into safe mode to see if its a driver issue but the colours are still inverted, I've booted into the BIOS and again the colours are inverted and just to cover all bases I booted a live DVD of Mint Linux 17.1 and the legendary green of the mint distro was a lovely lilac. I've also tried high contrast i.e. Left ALt + left Shift + Print Screen.
    My feeling is its the graphic chip or the monitor and I'm hedging more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is still present.
    Considering this is literally a month and 6 days out of guarantee it pretty bad, I would have expected a bit longer from a laptop before it started failing.
    Update from Yesterday: I did a screengrab from the HP using the snipping tool in windows 7, this showed the colours inverted i.e. negative, I saved that screengrab to a USB stick and opened it up on my Mac, the image showed correctly i.e. not as a negative.
    This is the image that is displayed on the laptop, there is no colour inversion, none of the graphics settings appear incorrectly set, I did actually set all settings back to defaults.
    This is the screengrab from the laptop as it displays from another computer, which, in my case was my Mac. The screen appears to be displaying correctly, hence the screengrab image below but for some reason it is displaying an inverted image - Its like there is an overlay on the screen.
    Could the inverter be faulty?

    Hi @chubby_ninja ,
    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-n096ea Notebook and issues with the graphics.  If it shows while connected to a different monitor then it is not the graphic card, it is the LCD screen or the cable.
    I would replace this as it is the least expensive. Display panel cable 732066-001 Page 97 of your manual. Or you could take the Notebook to a shop so they could test each of the cable and LCD screen.

  • System Colours Inverted, what the heck?

    I have a very weird problem. My computer (G4 400, OS10.3.9) is showing me all the colours inverted, a perfect negative. This is happening at a system level, it affects all the apps except watching a DVD. I tried opening an image in Photoshop and Inverting it, and that made the colour perfect (for just that picture.) I restarted the machine, and shut it down cold and started it up again. It starts up normally and then inverts the colours just after loading the OS. The machine boots up normally in OS 9.
    The last thing the machine was used for before this happened was watching a DVD (that has played no prob before) . Did my kids hit some undocumented keyboard shortcut? Is it a virus? I hunted through any preference controls I could think of, and see nothing like Invert Colour. Help!

    Even better, its a documented keyboard shortcut, for the Universal Access control switch to white on black.

  • Can't drag certain images into other albums

    Hi, forgive me if this has been covered here, but I couldn't find it in search.
    I cannot copy certain image versions to other albums within the same project for some reason. I have a couple hundred shots in this project, and most drag/copy into the album fine, but there is at least one that does not, no matter what I do. I've tried unstacking it from it's stack, etc. -- still won't copy.
    It does act as if it's copying though -- the green plus sign appears over the album - but it never appears in that album.
    Suggestions?

    Make sure you are not filtering what the browser is showing in that album. Check that the searching box doesn't have anything written on it. By default should say 'Unrated or better'. Also if those versions you are copying are marked as rejects you'll need to select in the searching box 'Show all"

  • Colour Profiles on exported images causing major problems

    I've been exporting keynote slides as png's to use in video presentations. The problem is that the png's are saved with colour profiles, which means if I export the images from diferent macs, or even the same mac but with a different monitor attached (therefore a diferent monitor colour profile active), the images have very noticeable colour variations.
    This is a major problem. I exported 1,000 slide transitions to import into Adobe Premiere, then about 500 slide updates that when imported, were in some cases darker or lighter even though I was using the same keynote and original images. I had to create a batch job in Photoshop to open, ignore the stored profile and save the images using a new default colour profile to try and get all the images consistent.
    There needs to be an option in either the Keynote preferences or export options to save exported images without colour profiles.

    No, there needs to be documentation on the ICC architecture and how ICC profiles are applied. Stripping out embedded ICC profiles will colour manage the objects (images) in the system, but when the images pass outside the system they will not be colour managed any more. In this scenario, either they will have to be rendered as deviceColor by the numbers, without a definition of the colours their colourants should form, or a source ICC profile will have to be assigned by the following system/application.

    I could be considered an unconditional bug in Keynote if it embedded the current monitor profile and not the system RGB colour working space profile (: Generic RGB Profile). If indeed Keynote embeds the current monitor profile, it could be considered an unconditional bug in your understanding if you start by stripping the source profiles. You should be doing a profile to profile conversion in order to get into the RGB colour working space you want in Photoshop.
    Sorry, but it helps to have a basic understanding of media independent colour matching (even if the developers don't sometimes -:)).

  • Cannot view certain images

    I cannot view certain images, and I have already checked my settings a few times over. This only occurs occasionally with deviantart. Previously I came across a way to correct this, but it's been so long now that I've needed to adjust it that I've forgotten. So my question: Is there a way to adjust things so that the differently sized images appear regardless of pixel amount? It tends to be either only the preview or fullsize image on DA. Also, though I've Adblock Plus now, this happened even before.

    It is possible that you accidentally clicked the 'Block Images' item in the right click context menu while trying to save an image.
    Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions - See [[Options window - Content panel]]
    A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (''Site Identification'' icon) on the left side of the location bar and click the "More Information" button.
    This will open the Security tab of the ''Page Info'' window (also accessible via Tools > Page Info).
    Go to the ''Media'' tab of that Page Info window.
    Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow.
    If an image is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box ''Block Images from...'' then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Can I "Invert" my screen image?

    I would like to use a new iBook or Powerbook as an "in car" game station and/or DVD player for the kids. It would be great if I could invert the video image so I can mount the laptop upside down on my Van roof liner. I have mounted an older Bronze Keyboard Powerbook in the upright position which makes for a bulky bracket and you can't really flip the screen or laptop out of the way. The screen on my old powerbook puts any in car entertainment system to shame and I am sure a newer iBook or Powerbook would be even better. With a Deluo Bluetooth GPS tracking unit and Route 66 software, the Powerbook becomes a useful multi-use tool on trips. Get to the hotel, remove it from the car and surf the net from the hotel room.
    Any new iBook or Powerbook (ready to purchase)   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Sorry if this answer is a bit too late for your planned purchase. I have an ibook G4 1.2 with ATI Radeon 9200 card and downloaded a set of drivers from ATI. This installed an ATI Display tab in system preferences and one of the advanced options is to flip the display onto its side or upside down. No hardware modifications needed. Sounds like it does what you want.

  • How to change the color of same coloured sections of an image according to the colorpicker..?

    Hi.. How r u all..?
    I'm doing a small program to change the color of those sections of an image which are having the same color, according to the color selected from the colorpicker..
    Say we have selected a color from the colorpicker, and then the mouseclick event on the image changes the color of those parts in the image which are having the same color as the clicked portion (or pixel) to the selected color.. If we've selected FF0000 from the colorpicker, then clicked on 3300CC coloured pixel in the image. This should change the color of all the 3300CC coloured pixels in the image..
    I've a colorpicker [colpickr] and a movieclip [mc] of the image on the stage. I created a bitmap of that same same image (imag1) using code. Selecting the color from the colorpicker and a mouse click on the movieclip (here I used getPixel) will change that color in the bitmap to the selected color (with setPixel). So here I've two images; one is a movieclip (inorder to add listener for click event) and one is a bitmap (inorder to set the property setPixel). But I need only a single image.
    Please help me regarding this.. Given below is my (horrible) code..
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.display.Bitmap;
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    var c = 0;
    var myBitmapData:BitmapData;
    var bm:Bitmap;
    colpickr.selectedColor = 0xffffff;
    var preLoader;
    var urlReq;
    var preloader_img:MovieClip;
    preLoader =new Loader();
    preLoader.unloadAndStop();
    urlReq = new URLRequest("imag1.jpg"); // i've selected the same image as that of movieclip mc
    preLoader.load(urlReq);
    preLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,preLoaderComplete);
    //creates a bitmap image of mc..
    function preLoaderComplete(loadEvent:Event) {
        myBitmapData = new BitmapData(mc.width,mc.height);
        myBitmapData.draw(mc);
        bm = new Bitmap(myBitmapData);
        addChild(bm);
        bm.width = mc.width;
        bm.height = mc.height;
    mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, _onMouseClick);
    //gets the color of mc and sets the color to bitmap
    function _onMouseClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
        var myColor:uint = myBitmapData.getPixel(mc.mouseX,mc.mouseY);
        c = myColor.toString(16);
        for (var i=0; i<bm.width; i++) {
            for (var j=0; j<bm.height; j++) {
                if (myBitmapData.getPixel(i,j).toString(16) == c) {
                    myBitmapData.setPixel(i,j,colpickr.selectedColor);

    try this:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.display.Bitmap;
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    var c=0;
    var myBitmapData:BitmapData;
    var bm:Bitmap;
    colpickr.selectedColor=0xffffff;
    var preLoader;
    var urlReq;
    var preloader_img:MovieClip;
    preLoader =new Loader();
    preLoader.unloadAndStop();
    urlReq=new URLRequest("z_bitmaps/image1.jpg");// i've selected the same image as that of movieclip mc
    preLoader.load(urlReq);
    preLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,preLoaderComplete);
    //creates a bitmap image of mc..;
    function preLoaderComplete(loadEvent:Event) {
        bm = Bitmap(loadEvent.target.loader.content);
        addChild(bm);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, f);
    function f(e:MouseEvent):void{
        if(bm.hitTestPoint(mouseX,mouseY) && !colpickr.hitTestPoint(mouseX,mouseY)){
            _onMouseClick(e);
    //gets the color of mc and sets the color to bitmap
    function _onMouseClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
        c=bm.bitmapData.getPixel(bm.mouseX,bm.mouseY);
        for (var i=0; i<bm.width; i++) {
            for (var j=0; j<bm.height; j++) {
                if (bm.bitmapData.getPixel(i,j)==c) {
                    bm.bitmapData.setPixel(i,j,colpickr.selectedColor);

  • Unable to import certain image files in CS5

    I currently am using CS5, and I am unable to import certain image files such as .png and.tga. When I try to import them I get an error message saying something along the lines of file type not supported. Any help?

    Make sure that the images are not CMYK color space.
    Already tried that, thanks
    One thing to take note of is everytime I start AE I get a pop up box saying "You have at least one output module template that refers to a missing plug-in. Please check your Output Module Template". That plug-in would be the TIIFF alpha sequence output. Perhaps  that has something to do with it..

  • I am having problems saving certain images

    I am having problems saving certain images. For example, on Ebay while viewing an auction item, when you click on the image to view the larger picture it opens in a new window. With Internet Explorer, you can "right-click" and "save picture as". With Firefox 3.6.9 the "save picture as" option is not availabale. Other options such as save "save page as" are available, but not "save as," or "save picture as." Any ideas? Thanks

    I have found a solution to the problem. Apparently there is an addon to fix this. Had no idea a specific google search for "trouble saving images on ebay" would turn up anything.

  • Why am I having trouble running Adobe Flash Player 11 on my 2011 Macbook Air? I've downloaded and installed it repeatedly; yet when I try to open certain images online or play certain Youtube segments, I get the message, "You must have Adobe Flash 11..."

    Why am I having trouble running Adobe Flash Player 11 on my 2011 Macbook Air? I've downloaded and installed it repeatedly; yet when I try to open certain images online or play certain Youtube segments, I get the message, "You must have Adobe Flash 11..."  My computer tells me it is installed and running.

    If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
    from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
    You may be prompted for your login password.
    4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
    Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
    Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    5. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    6. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    7. In the Safari preference window, select
    Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Is there an add-on to hide certain image results temporarily on Google Image?

    I need an add on where I can click certain images to hide them, not all images. Is there any? thank you.

    There is Google Safe Search if you would like to modify the search results on a computer. However this one [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/image-block/?src=search] blocks all images in a page when you click it.
    This [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/image-blocker-jetpack/ one] blocks images too.

  • Certain images not appearing in Live View?

    Hello,
    I recently upgraded my Dreamweaver CS5 and have noticed that certain images are no longer appearing in Live View. When Live View is unclicked, both of the images appear in both Design View and Preview in Browser; however, when Live View is clicked, the question mark appears for new images that were not used in Dreamweaver previous to the update. Does anyone know a fix to this? I have already tried to uninstall/re-install the software. Thanks for your help.

    What is the exact code path to images?
    How big are your images (filesize)?  Did you optimize them for the web in your graphics editor before inserting them into your web page?  Are they saved as RGB and not CMYK?

  • Colour grads in greyscale images

    I needed a black and white copy of this image, so I made a virtual copy and converted it to greyscale. I love the flexibility of the grayscale mixer, so and decided to darken the sky with a blue grad and then use the grayscale mix to adjust the level of the blue.
    I know I could have done this with the brightness or exposure in the grad, but I wanted to drag the blues darker as I was not getting the results I wanted from the exposure / brightness.
    I now have a colour black and white image!
    Even if I start with the colour image and then manipulate the colour gradient and then make the image greyscale, the colour grad stays colour.
    Any thoughts for how to work with colour grads in photos and then neediong to convert to black and white versions, cos mine is black and blue and white.
    another "split toning" effect

    Any thoughts for how to work with colour grads in photos and then neediong to convert to black and white versions, cos mine is black and blue and white.
    another "split toning" effect
    Yes, it's split tone effect. Nevertheless, I bugged this "particular" behaviour a few months back, but was advised that it was as designed. However, the language used didn't exactly convince me that the respondent didn't agree with me that it's bug.
    To be clear, adding a colour grad to a B&W image doesn't cause me any difficulties and an effect I use a lot. However, leaving the effects of a colour grad in play after converting to B&W is to my mind dumb in the extreme. I've seen reports on this forum of images were the original grad was quite subtle and therefore easily forgotten about. When the image was subsequently converted to B&W (usually as a VC) the colour comes through and confused the hell out of the user.

    Bonjour,
