Colroing lines in Keynote

I know this seems extremely trivial, but has anyone had difficulty in changing the color of lines and shapes in Keynote?
I'm not a novice at this (I have extensive experience with Powerpoint), but this is making me a little crazy. I've followed the directions in the Keynote guide, but no dice.
I can change the fill color, but not the line color.
Weird, eh?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jose Jones

What kind of imported shapes? If they are EPS or PDF, no, these can't be stroked. However, if these kind of shapes are converted to SVG format using an illustration app (such as Illustrator, or Intaglio, or the free Inkscape, you can then use the excellent svg2key utility to convert them into proper iWork shapes, which will allow stroking, filling, and all other native object effects.

  • Growing lines in Keynote 09

    hi,
I like to connect two items with a growing line or with a line that change its color from one side to the other.
    How can it be done?
    Thanks and greetings

If "wipe" build won't meet your needs you can also use a "scale action" to accomplish this.
Another way to have a gradient line, if keynote doesn't have enough flexibility is to create it in photoshops and import it

  • How is the best way to make a curved line in keynote?

I have the new version of keynote but using the "curved line" in 'shapes' is not easy to make a symmetrical curved line. Can you suggest other simple ways to accomplish this?

Take the Draw a Shape tool and click in two spots. Press escape to stop drawing. Click one of the points, it will snap to horizontal. Now, take that line and move it towards the middle of the slide. It will snap to the center. Now, select the line so that it's in draw mode (points on either end are red), hold down option, and click the middle of the line to add a point. Double-click the point to make it a curved point. Hold down option and drag the curve handles (to make then equal length on both sides) then press Shift to make it snap to horizontal again.
Now, all you need to do is click the curve points while holding down shift and option to lengthen and shorten the curve points. Clicking directly on the point and moving it up and down (it should still snap to the guide line) and controlling the curve should give you a lot of flexibility. Will this do it for you?

  • White Lines in Keynote 3

When I add a music file to a Keynote 3 presentation, white lines appear in the slide while in the play mode only. It also appears when making a DVD or Quicktime movie of the presentatiion.
The lines do not show up while working on the slides or when the presentation is exported to powerpoint.
    Any suggestions?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I wish I had a 10.3.9 machine to check, but, since your video card should definitely be up to the task, I think it's probably going to be that Keynote's having a unique problem with your setup. In Keynote, under the Keynote menu, choose "Provide User Feedback" and send your problem to Apple. It could be that it may not have been reported yet.

  • Strange "Line" on keynote charts

I have just opened an existing presentation in Keynote V6 and most of the charts have a thin "ghost" line appearing below the underline that I use beneath my slide titles. The line is not selectable on the main chart - and if I switch to editing the master it does not even show.
It is almost as if it is on some kind of background - but I cannot see how one would locate/edit that.
Anyone got any ideas as to what this is and how I might remove it?
    Keynote version is 6.2.2

If it wasn't for the fact that I have the pdf file that includes the mystery line I could be convinced that I'm going crazy!
Decided to produce a one page version of the presentation and take a look at the underlying XML to see if I could find it that way.
Opened the presentation - no more mystery line!  It had survived several save/reopen sequences - but this time it is gone!
I'll leave this thread open for a time to see if it reappears - but for now my immediate problem is gone!

  • Is there a way to remove the size and position readout when moving Lines in Keynote?

When moving the endpoints of lines while creating a presentation, a size and position readout appears on the screen. This obscures details below it, often making it difficult to precisely position a line. Is there a way of disabling this? The option in Preferences for disabling this readout for objects does not work for lines. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

I will tell him about that, but I don't think that would be it if that is related to animation.
We're talking about the wallpaper background that get blurry during the phone screens like http://www.tekrevue.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/20130923_ios7emergencycallfla w.jpg (left side) and http://i.i.cbsi.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim2/2013/09/20/ChangingYourTheme.png ... You can see there are background images that got blurred out.

  • Keynote to Iweb

I'm new to Keynote, so please be nice with me
I want to create a sitemap (like this one: http://www.apple.com/sitemap/) into my website created with Iweb 09.
I would love to make it a little interactive like a Keynote presentation, something simple not to fancy; may be some appearing texts and of course each line in Keynote will have a link to each of my webpages.
Is it possible to create this in Keynote? If yes, will it be possible to put it in Iweb and publish it?
It might be to difficult, but I'm looking for an opinion.
    Thanks
    Thierry

created a sitemap the old fashion way: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/Sitemap.html

  • Table editing causes Keynote '09 to crash

    Hello folks,
I have experienced on a regular basis crash of Keynote whenever I try to add or edit a table. This happens both with already existing files and working on presentations created by scratch.
The crash consists in the appearance of a warning message (I have the Italian version of Keynote, I have not idea of the message in English), that informs me that an error occurred in Keynote and that I must close the application and re-open it. Even if I do exactly this, when I try to re-launch the application, a new warning message appears. In this case, I have the possibility to quit, retry or send a report to Apple. If I retry, the application starts loading the default settings (English language). To get the Italian language to work, I have to delete the file "com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist" in the folder \Library\Preferences.
I have already installed the most recent upgrade (iWork09Update2.dmg), but this does not solve the problem.
Did anyone has noticed something of similar?
    Sorry for my poor English.

Hello, I think I have solved the problem by upgrading to OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard).
After having completed the update process (including additional on-line updates), Keynote seems to run smoothly.

  • Drawing Curved Lines

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to draw curved lines in Keynote '08. It seems one can do custom shapes but not lines.
    Kind regards,

The difference between a line and a shape, in this sense, is whether or not it's filled. In most themes, when you're finished drawing the line, it gets filled with the default fill. Change that Fill to None, and it's just the line.
Another thing, even though it says "Draw a Shape", if you press "Esc" at any time while drawing, your endpoints will be left where they are, no need to connect back to the start point to create a closed shape.

  • Keynote 3 outline

Keynote 3 outlines (which I use as handouts) come out in 1.75 inch column and in tiny print! How do I back to the 6" wide lines (as Keynote 2 created) that can be read by normal human eyes?

Are you sure that TextEdit was used to create the initial outline? I know you can do this with OmniOutliner, but the TextEdit angle is news to me.
I just checked the Lynda.com website and saw a tuturial about using text, and it specified OmniOutliner to augment text input. I saw no mention of TextEdit among the tutorial titles.

  • Coding an organization chart

i have been asked to create an organization chart like structure which can be modified dynamically. can any one help on this.

Keynote does not have the same kind of tools to do this as PowerPoint. There are "connection lines" in Keynote which will move with an object, but that's about it. You might look at some other tool to do org charts, such as OmniGraffle.

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • How can I make a line at 40 degree angle in Keynote 6

How can you make a line of 40 degrees (or anywhere between 40 to 45) angle in the new Keynote 6.2.2. It seems they took away that nice feature from the previous version. When I move one end of a line, it locks onto 45 when I get near that angle, and jumps off directly to 34 when I try to move away. Previously you could click on a line to transform the ends into red spots, and move them independently to any angle or length. Now it locks onto 45, or 135 or 90 etc. I don't have any of the guides on or any other feature. This is supposed to happen only when holding shift key (which is also a great feature). If it locks onto the magic angles without holding shift, then there is no sense if having that feature at all.

Press the command key when dragging, this switches off snapping and allows continuous placement.
If you like numerical control:     Inspector > Format > Arrange > Rotate

  • How do I draw a curved line in iCloud Keynote beta?

I am fairly new to Keynote in general, however I would like to leverage it's capabilities to enhance my projects at work (where I have a Windows7 PC w/o admin rights to install software).  I know you can draw curved lines with the Keynote on a Mac, but I can't seem to figure it out with iCloud Keynote beta.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,

    Try this:
    File>New>blank file
Duplicate the background layer, and work on the background copy layer
Get the Elliptical marquee tool out of the toolbxox. Drag out an ellipse
Go to Edit menu>Stroke (outline) selection, try width=4x, position:inside
Use the eraser tool to erase part of the ellipse
Use the transform tool (CTRL+T) to rotate and skew the remaining curve to suit
It's a bit tedious, but it can be done.

  • On-line keynote platform

Is anyone aware of an on-line teleconference provider that allows attendees to see a Keynote presentation in PLAY mode?  Go-to-meeting doesn't have program-specific options for the Mac so all they can see is the desktop - even when Keynote is in full-screen play.

    Ian,
Have you saved an earlier version without the graph that you could recover?
Have you tried going to lunch or leaving for the night with the beach ball spinning? It might just be going to take more time than you have had patience for to date. If it ever loads successfully, you could then delete the bad chart.
