Com.apple.audio.coreaudiod error on every startup

Hello,
I was does some system cleaning and maintenance and noticed that every time I start the computer, I get an error in Console:
com.apple.audio.coreaudiod     106: _RegisterApplication(), FAILED TO establish the default connection to the WindowServer, _CGSDefaultConnection() in NULL
And then it does it again right away:
com.apple.audio.coreaudio{106]     _RegisterApplication(), FAILED TO establish the default conncetion to the WindowServer, _CGSDefaultConncetion()is NULL
I was wondering what this means and how to keep this from happening. Since it involves core audio, this could be a potentially annoying problem if it has other effects (that I might see later), because I do music production.
I am using 10.6.8 on an early 2011 Macbook Pro and primarily use Logic 9.
Also does anyone know if I can prevent PACE and Digidesign/Avid stuff from running on every startup and just when I actually use ProTools or other PACE-protected programs?
Any ideas? Thanks!

Sorry I shall explain.
iMac been running very sluggish since Snow Leopard installed. Programs take ages to load. Freezes in OS and spinning beach ball all the time as well.
Did a search about a warning that get popping up which unfortunately I can not remember (sorry) but something to do with sound cdsa ? That's not right but searched and kept getting the same advice :
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist+error&ie=utf-8 &oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
Ditch the com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist
Did this and the iMac ran at super light speed. Applications opened really quickly no beach ball at all - but no system sounds, emptying trash etc.
Dropped com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist back in LaunchDaemons Repaired Disk Permissions and got my system sounds back but got the beach ball back too and slow performance and crashes freezes etc.
Any advice would be great

    Student_245,
are you certain that you’ve completely downloaded the .pkg file — that the download didn’t end prematurely?

  • Microsoft office cannot install - The operation couldn't be completed (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1)

    Hi there,
Recently my hard drive crashed and so I bought a new SSD and performed a clean install of Lion on it. I tried to install Microsoft office, but when I try to open the .mpkg installed it says:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
    Couldn't open "Office Installer.mpkg".
Any ideas? It worked perfectly fine previously, and I had used the same installation.
    My specs are below:
    MacBook Pro
    17-inch, Early 2011
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
    Thanks!

What's the source of the mpkg? Is this for Office 2011?
I'd reccomend downloading from MS here:
    https://www1.downloadoffice2010.microsoft.com/macdl/registerkey.aspx?ref=macdl&c ulture=en-US
Using the key on the CD you have.
PS- Yes i know the site says 2010, but I assure you the mac download is for office 2011. Then do your updates. I think it's on SP3 by now

I have seen other threads that have different reference numbers, but none with this one?
    Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode and try the preview there.  If it works then you'll need to order the book in Safe Mode when you're ready to order unless a solution is found before then.
Are you ordering an XL sized book by any chance?  There were some issues with that but it should have been fixed by iPhoto 9.4

When I try to preview the book I get the message the operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.chameleon.pdfGenerate error 1)

No - you there is nothing more to explain - you boot into safe mode as described in the link in my post and try assembling the book while in safe mode - nothing more to it
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Com.apple.Server.Accounts error 2 - Local Network Group problem

    I am lost :-)
just to specify, this is not a production server, it is just a learning platform for me.
I did a format and start over my server configuration
    in order
    DNS
    DHCP
    Open Directory
    Profile Manager
    User and group
    File Sharing
    very basic config.
Somewhere during user and group something happen
I did create a new Local Network Group and 2 Local Network User, me and a Directory admin
but now, when I create a group, it seem I can only create local group
and I can't edit Local Network Group
    Local Group -> no problem
I can edit Local Group. I can add member
or I can go to a member and add it to a Local Group even if the user is a Local Network User
    it work
Local Network Group -> does not work
I can't edit Local Network Group, can't add member
if i go the same Local Network user I added to local group and try to add it to a Local Network group, I get this error
    com.apple.Server.Accounts error 2
I dont know where I went wrong :-)
    any idea
    Thank you

I just reformat and restart the configuration :-(   but I might have the same problem again, so i hope to understand why it happened.
I had the problem on both the server and a client machine.
Part of the Local Network User and Groups were greyed out, so I could not edit them
My airport setting for DNS was set to my server, so the client automatically got the local ip of the server for DNS.
On the server, initially, the formatting DNS IP was so to my airport, then I changed it to the DNS of my Internet provider.
but for the self ip 127.0.0.1 i did saw it there at the begining but maybe when did change later it might have been affected.
I did changed the System Preferences>Network setting to a fix IP even if my airport was set as the DHCP with a fix IP for the Mac Mini.
I remember not seeing a DNS in that page. I will check for that now that I am about to start again.
and also, I tried to change the DHCP to be from given from the Mac Mini (like I read in the book) but when I did a
    ipconfig getpacket en0
it was still showing the airport as the DHCP server
I will not set it this time.
    Thank you
I will come back later with some update
    Thank you

I had the same message with snow leopard server, did not have vpn working.
I fixed it by setting pptp enabled, with an IP address range, in the vpn tab of server admin. vpn is still not started, but this fixed the error - i dont know what process was calling pptp, but it seems be happy now.
Jabber still has no start/stop button, needs launchctl to make it go. such is life. just the odd log message about throttling the disk, felt like doing that myself occasionally.

  • Having problems since latest 10.5.7 update: com.apple.doc "Bus error"

    Hello,
Since this morning, after installing the latest Mac OS updates, my Mac has been really slow, and the dock never appears. My console messages keep printing the following message:
com.apple.launchd[83] ([0x0-0x18a18a].com.apple.dock[929]) Exited abnormally: Bus error
and the system log keeps printing the following related massages:
May 18 20:20:38 nachobike ReportCrash[947]: Formulating crash report for process Dock[945]
    May 18 20:20:38 nachobike ReportCrash[947]: Saved crashreport to /Users/<username>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Dock2009-05-18-202037nachobike.crash using uid: 501 gid: 501, euid: 501 egid: 501
Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how I can fix it?
    Thanks!

Since the problem is with the OS and not just the user account -
I'd download the Apple Combo Update from here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_7_ComboUpdate and after run it again. No change?
    Then
Reinstall Mac OS using "Archive and Install" method which doesn't affect your user account: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1545 - Preserve User and Network Settings
    Then, after repairing permissions
    Run the combo update again.
    Repair Permissions 1 last time.

  • Com.apple.parentalcontrols.keychain error setting up Time Machine

When setting up Time Machine I encountered an unexpected error:
"writeconfig wants to use the "com.apple.parentalcontrols.keychain.5nqyke" keychain.  Please enter the keychain password."
This was reported back in 2010 in this post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2554426?threadID=2554426
If you have encountered this same frustrating error, I can provide a fix, read on.
It was determined that this is an issue with code leftover from a Norton Antivirus software that had been uninstalled but left this problem, which is that this keychain password was created by Norton in the background, and you the user never saw it or even knew it existed, and therefore cannot enter it.  For some reason Time Machine finds this insurmountable.  It is not possible to use Time Machine until this hurdle is overcome.
At that time users tried various fixes to get rid of this code and only one drastic one was noted to be effective.  I tried several relatively easy suggested but unproven fixes which did NOT work, including:
Run the Norton Uninstall program that came with the software
Obtain and run the RemoveSymantecMacFiles program available at:  https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080427024142EN_En dUserProfile_en_us
Run Disk Utility to repair permissions and then again to repair the disk
Install Clean My Mac and run it
So I tried the drastic solution which DID work, which was to reinstall the OS as follows:
Back up important files (using something other than Time Machine, since Time Machine is not yet working)
Boot the iMac from the Mac OS X install DVD
Re-install the OS X from the Install DVD
Restart the iMac and go through the software updates (in my case, back to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard)
Open Time Machine preferences, select the desired target disk, and you will get past this barrier and can use Time Machine easily.
This worked for me, so I'm all set.  I post this in the hopes that:
    - users who encounter this same issue will find this fix helpful
    - Apple and/or Symantec will find a way to determine the root cause of this issue and address it so no one else has to deal with it

    Hey there,

  • Apple Remote Desktop Errors on Application Startup.

I'm having an issue with Apple Remote Desktop 3.2.1 on OSX 10.6.8  basicly the software installes correctly to all defaults.  But when i go to start the Application I get an error "The Remote Desktop Administrator Software Failed to start due to and unexpected error.  The remote Desktop Software may not be installed correclty or the computer may reguire a restart."  Ok some background info on the issue.   I restarted the mac (start with the easy stuff first right)  this did not fix the issue.  I then reinstalled the application.  This did not fix the issue.
So know I'm here looking for more options.

Don't worry. you can get it working NOW!!!
Apparently you can get the current version of ARD up and running on MacBooks. For more details see this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=405454&tstart=60
To save you the trouble of reading all the replies, here is a quote from "gmsmith" which seems to be the solution:
    1. Delete or move the folder /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement - you'll need to be root to do this.
    2. Launch Remote Desktop Admin. It ran through a quick install process and re-created the /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement folder. The admin then closed on my machine.
    3. Re-open the ARD admin, and it should work.
Note: he refers to the fact that you need to be "root to do this." If you do not know what this means, look in apple support for articles on "root user" or "authenticating as root". I haven't done the search myself, but it should be easy to find. Or just post a topic asking how to "log in to your mac as the root user". Basically, the "root user" has god like privileges to delete files on your mac, and is actually a higher level user than admin accounts set up when you first configed your mac
