Com.apple.DotMacSync.client.exe consumes most of CPU
Periodically com.apple.DotMacSync.client.exe runs when I have iTunes running. While it runs it consumes most of the CPU in the computer. This is hard on any other program that is running. How can I reduce this effect ?
Hi Turingtest2!
You seem to be the go-to guy with these types of errors. I'm quite impressed by your thoroughness! My error began showing up a few weeks ago when I updated iTunes to 11.1.5.5. The error doesn't seem to get in the way of iTunes working, or my syncing Windows XP / iPhone, but this error message pops up every 10 minutes or so with a loud "don't do that!" noise, which is mildly irritating and I'd love for it to go away.
Error: com.apple.DotMacSync.client.exe Entry Point Not Found. X The procedure entry point objc_exception_try_enter could not be located in the dynamic link library obj.dll
This seems to be a bit different from other users, but perhaps the same response - to uninstall your list of programs and reinstall iTunes is the best strategy?
Thanks Turingtest2 - like your photo by the way.

Crash of com.apple.Outlook.client.exe
Hello
we have a new Toshiba with windows 7 and outlook 2003.
Tried to sync with an iPhone 3GS
It tells in iTunes it synced succesfully; but in the background the "com.apple.Outlook.client.exe" crashes.
Outlook then tells me it cannot access the calendar/contacts because it cannot access the folders because a process accessing the folder crashed.
Quit outlook and reopen it again brings it back.
errors are (translated from German):
Name of faulty application : com.apple.Outlook.client.exe, Version: 17.89.0.10, timestamp: 0x4cb91bf4
Name of faulty moduls: mspst32.dll, Version: 11.0.8317.0, timestamp: 0x4ae0c06f
exception: 0xc0000005
Error-offset: 0x0001e58b
ID of faulty Process: 0x1984
starttime of faulty application: 0x01cbbbd0218270f5

path of faulty module: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SYSTEM\MSMAPI\1031\mspst32.dll
what can be done except:
- installed all updates (win and office)
- installed itunes a new
- rename mspst32.dll to mspst32-old.dll (got a new one with the same data)
greets,
JackI have a similar problem. I don't sync with outlook though, (I just sync with exchange server wirelessly). However, when iTunes starts, com.apple.outlook.client.exe uses alot of resources and I can't open any MS Office documents.
I close iTunes, process still runs, documents don't open. I highlight it and "end process" and all the documents I was trying to open pop up.
So far I haven't seen any effect of ending that process after iTunes is closed. I can't promise anything though. But it worked for me.
I'd like to see it fixed though, kind of a pain to have to do that. -
Com.apple.outlook.client.exe CPU usage
On my laptop com.apple.outlook.client.exe always starts when I plug in my iPhone and sync it with itunes. It uses around 50% CPU and using my battery although I don't synchronize my iPhone with Outlook. Is there a way to avoid this? The process keeps running even after I have closed iTunes and disconnected the phone.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit with the latest iTunes version.Same here on a Win XP with newest iTunes 10.5.1.42. Since I have this new iTunes, the "com.apple.outlook.client.exe" is accessing my harddisk constantly (although I only need the Notes to be synced with Outlook) and also when iTunes and Outlook are closed. Has someone a hint?

Whenever I sync, multiple instances of (and by multiple, I mean literally dozens) of copies of "com.apple.outlook.client.exe *32" begin opening. They continue opening until iTunes basically grinds to a halt. This happens with MobileMe, too, and means I can't sync up with Outlook.Checked: I'm using a 32-bit version of Outlook and not a 64-bit. Did not sync via a second user's installation, either.
Still searching for resolution.
Note: All other syncing still works, iTunes only crashes under the weight of 90 or so com.apple.Outlook.client.exe instances when any (any) Outlook-related option is checked, including Outlook-related options in MobileMe. The processes can be killed all at once by right clicking "SyncServer.exe" in the task manager and clicking "End Process Tree." -
Since upgrading to iTunes 9.1.0.74 a couple of days ago, the com.apple.IE.client.exe process, which starts during the Calendars phase of a Mobile Me manual sync process, fails to shut down when the sync process is complete. The Calendars phase now runs 5-10 minutes even when there are no Calendar changes. While it runs, com.apple.IE.client.exe runs at 50% of the CPU, and memory usage climbs continuously. It reaches about 2 GB (2,000,000 K in Windows Task Manager!) by the time the sync process completes.
However, com.apple.IE.client.exe _doesn't end_ even though the sync is complete. Instead, it keeps running at 50% CPU. Somewhere around 2.1 to 2.2 GB of memory usage it reports: "com.apple.IE.client.exe - Application Error. The exception Breakpoint. A breakpoint has been reached. (0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x0c90120E."
This has occurred at the end of four Mobile Me syncs now. Upon selecting OK to end the application, everything else seems fine.
I see other posts regarding the com.apple.IE.client.exe process in the latest iTunes update, but no clear resolution. I tried Apple Mobile Me chat, and replicated the problem twice while on-line, but their only recommendation (after verifying that my only Outlook COM add-on is the iTunes add-on) was to reinstall iTunes and Mobile Me, and if that didn't work, to create another user and see if the sync problem occurred there. Since that user would have no Outlook data to sync, this suggestion wasn't very helpful. As am experiment, I just ran a Mobile Me manual sync, but first I de-selected Bookmarks, and synced just Contacts and Calendars. com.apple.IE.client.exe did NOT start at the beginning of the Calendars sync phase (as it had in the four previous syncs since upgrading to iTunes 9.1.0.79). In fact, it did not start at all, the Calendars sync phase finished quickly and the entire sync process finished in less than a minute.
The apparent conclusion is that com.apple.IE.client.exe is used to sync IE bookmarks with Mobile Me, it starts (for some unknown reason) at the beginning of the Calendars sync phase if Bookmarks are being synced (not at the beginning of the Bookmarks sync phase), it delays the Calendars sync phase significantly (but not the Bookmarks sync phase), and it has some sort of serious memory leak problem that balloons its memory usage past 2 GB. -
When trying to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support: The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\com.apple.MobileSync.client.resources\ClientDescription50.plist.
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
Dashboard doesn't work and com.apple.dashboard* files doesn't exist
Like the headline says, my dashboard doesn't work at all, and my com.apple.dashboard* -files doesn't exist in the preferences file.
Is there annyway to redownload or reinstall it?
Please help!Hello there,
Have you tried killing the Dock Process through Activity monitoring and then relaunching it? I would also try logging out and then back in or doing a complete reboot of the machine to see if that helps.
If still no luck, it may be a good idea to trash the dashboard preference file.
The two dashboard preference files are in the following directory:
yourusername -> Library -> Preferences ->
The file names are:
com.apple.dashboard.client.plist
com.apple.dashboard.plist
Hope this helps.

Com.apple.medialibraryservice & Numbers
Since last iWork update, everytime I run Numbers application my imac starts to run very slow. When Numbers is running, the com.apple.medialibraryservice process Memory grow up to 1 GB.
Any idea to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Llimuji.I might have overlooked this, except that my MacBook Pro's fans kept coming on for no reason I could say. Checking processes today, I found mulitple instances of com.apple.MediaLibraryService running and consuming almost 1GB of RAM each. I was running iTunes 11.1.4 at the time, with Numbers 3.1 and Pages 5.1 sitting idly in the background.
I force-quit both instances of com.apple.MediaLibraryService, but as others have reported, it just started back up and grew to a ridiculous size within minutes, taking up to 108% processor power (so, up to 1 processor thread, but not even a full core).
I quit Pages and Numbers, and the problem went away. Sure seems like a runaway process problem that needs to be addressed in the next Pages, Numbers, iTunes, and or Mavericks update. -

Did full FF unistall, ran CCleaner, cleaned registry of any mention of FF or Mozilla, rebooted. Downloaded FF 21, 22 and 24, all have same problem: Install extracts all the files to C:\Temp\7Z..., then runs setup.exe, but setup.exe consumes 95+ of CPU for an hour, but does not install anything. Tried in Win XP Pro SP3 Safe Mode, same issue. Machine runs OK otherwise, can use other browsers w/o problem. If I kill the FF setup.exe, machine returns to normal w/o reboot. C: drive has ample space.
Also tried killing all unneeded services and programs before running install, but that does not help.
(It is not the machine from which I am writing this message, so the Automatically Add does not apply.)
Real puzzler!?? How would you know that the machine had any plugins at all? FF was completely unisntalled and there is no pluginreg.dat file, no profiles, nichts.

I have had an interesting week. Beginning on Tuesday, my computer began acting unstable. Tried to reinstall the operating system - caused me to replace the current disk with my weekly backup disk. Yet, when I operate the current system, I find that programs (except those requiring video such as DVD player or Quicktime) work well but the finder is not responding. Was able to run EtreCheck. According to the report, the only process was that highlighted in red was com.apple.iconServices Agent.
I have repaired permissions and cleaned the cache. Attached is the report from EtreCheck. Any ideas what is going wrong and how to correct it? TIA.
Steve

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Coreservicesd crash (com.apple.LaunchServices) screws up most running apps
I've been seeing crashes in the coreservicesd process that screw up most running apps and force me to restart the entire machine. When this happens, the Dock disappears and then reappears showing no running apps. The menu bar also gets stuck on a single app, even when I try to switch to another window with the mouse. The symptoms are very similar to those described at http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3289125, but I am on a MacBook Air running Lion 10.7.1.
Here's what gets logged to the system console:

When Server is running, the computer on which Server runs has problems accessing a shared drive connected to that computer. This problem started when Server started logging messages like the following.
Feb 7 07:32:57 johns-imac com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[508] (com.akamai.client.plist[44806]): assertion failed: 13B42: launchd + 102012 [C35AEAF6-FCF6-3C64-9FC8-38829064F8A8]: 0xd
Feb 7 07:32:57 johns-imac com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[508] (com.akamai.client.plist): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
The problem goes away when Server is not running and disk sharing is handled by Mac OSX 10,9.1 client.
What can one do to correct this issue with Server?I forgot to write down my computer specs:
iMac 27 Mid 2011
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
OS X 10.9.2
