COM SURROGATE error

Dear All,
Happy New Year.
When I try to synchronize the outlook contacts with my device through the blackberry desktop software, i have a error COM SURROGATE and it stops the synchronization process.
Have you faced this? Would you advise what to do.

CS6 Install causes COM SURROGATE error when encoding

I have CS4 Adobe After Effects along with CS5.5 Master - I've attempted to install CS6 trial over top of them, with other suites removed and just After Effects CS6 alone. I restore my system images and have tried several times.
After install - any attempt to encode using LAGARITH lossless video codec with adobe products or apps like virtualdub results in multiple COM SURROGATE errors continually popping up.
I would never expect an actual solution from Adobe at this point but thought I'd post this in case others come across it.
System is W7x64, Codecs Xvid 32/64, FFDshow, CoreAVC, Lagarith 32/64
This is absolutely caused by the CS6 Master Trial install and it is not my hardware as evidenced in everything working just fine before the install.
Sigh, it's always SOMETHING with Adobe, just love having to spend time solving workarounds every single time an update is released. I'm guessing I'll have to do a complete system reinstall from scratch to get around this as usual.

Three codecs are "all those atrocious codecs"?
FFDshow is the lightest weight I've found to run Xvid and myriad of other formats and Lagarith is half the file size of Huffuv for lossless work. I use Xvid for certain commercial HD projects where it's actually ideal.
I'd love to hear a better solution unless you were just being funny.

COM Surrogate stops working When printing in Internet Explorer 10

Some info about the setup
Virtual Server
WIndows server 2008 R2 Standard
Terminal server
64 Bit
Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.16618

The problem only occurs for some users, other users on the terminal server are able to print.
Printing in Google Crome works just fine.
I've tried to disable all "add-ons" in internet explorer
I've disabled Data Execution Protection for "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe"
I've also tried to add "C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe" got an error about 64bit

FOUND A WORKING SOLUTION TO INTERNET EXPLORER 11's COM Surrogate Error
Problem: My Windows 7 x86 (32bit) Virtual Instance on Parallels was having issues with launching Internet Explorer 11, either after an upgrade from 10 or when I had accidentally uninstalled then reinstalled my Parallels Display Adapter from the Device Manager.
And since one of my work websites rely and are only compatible with Internet Explorer, this was driving me NUTS. Every time I would launch Internet Explorer, I would get bombarded with a series of COM Surrogate errors that would never stop until I had end
tasked everything via Task Manager and/or restarted the virtual machine.
Diagnosis: After attempting all the available solutions on the internet..: Updating Windows 7/8 Codecs, Adding Data Execution Prevention (DEP) entries for both COM Surrogate and Windows Host Process for my x86 Windows 7, and attempting to find a way to downgrade
Internet Explorer 11 (nearly impossible).
HERE IS THE SOLUTION that worked for me:
1. Hit Windows + R (Run) and launch "inetcpl.cpl" (Internet Explorer Settings)
2. Go to the Advanced Tab, and Click "Reset..."
3. Check "Delete Personal Settings" and click Reset

I searched in forum but I was not successful.
Then I used google and found this page:

There are different possible solutions.
It seems that software like DivX and Nero could cause this error message.

Unable to change IPv4 adapter settings -- COM surrogate fails

Hi folks,
I have an HP notebook I use for network troubleshooting etc. It is about 1 year old and was delivered with 8.0 and subsequently upgraded to 8.1 a few months ago. It does not have the recent 8.1 Update update installed.
When I try to set a static IP address on the Ethernet adapter I get a pop-up after closing the adapter properties dialog saying that the COM surrogate as stopped work. I can close this popup but I can't close the Network Connections page. I get an event
1000 error in Application event log that says netcfgx.dll is faulting.
I know that at one time I could change the adapter settings with no trouble, but I've installed a number of monthly updates since the last time I tried.
Any ideas?

In addition, considering that this issue can also be caused by corrupted system file or virus, please also run Security scan on your computer, and system file scan:

Word 2013 - MSI Install vs. One-Click Install - COM Exception Error

we have a 3rd party control that sits on top of word to render word documents. In a MSI installation of Word 2013 everything works fine. When we use the one-click installation the rendering does not work and the system throws a com exception
error.
it basically says "The document is not associated with an ActiveX Document server. at OfficeControlLIB.IOfficeControl.OpenLocalfile...

where you modify the registry to insert :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

into the registry - however this did not work (note we looked up the CLSID for our OCX and replaced.
Any ideas?

So it's a 32-bit version of Office which is running on a 32-bit version of Windows, try to omit
Wow6432Node from the registry keys and see if it works.
It's a 3rd party control, there is no way for us to understand how exactly it works. I'd suggest you contact the vendor support of that control for further assistance.

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

Importing divx .avi file from VIO pov video camera crashes adobe PE9 with message: COM surrogate has stopped working.
If I uninstall divx then PE9 won't crash, but only audio is present. VIO says correct codec must be obtained from Adobe. Is there a fix for this so that my $100 is not lost?

Unfortunately, DivX and Xvid are not well supported, if at all.Some have had better luck with PrE 9.0.1, but they are few.
To insure that things are as good as they will get, I would follow the steps in this ARTICLE, and also insure that you have the latest version of DivX CODEC installed.
CyberLink's PowerDirector seems to work better with DivX footage, than does any Adobe NLE program.

COM Surrogate has stopped working

I've read the posts about this and nothing is working for me.
I started getting this message a few weeks ago. It comes up whenever I go into the folder I have video files stored in. It pops up, telling me the COM Surrogate has stopped working and allows me to close the box - and when I do, another one comes up telling me the same thing, etc etc. I have upgraded Divx, I don't have Nero, searches don't seem to bring back any results for Urge (all common causes it seems) so I don't know what to do.
This is the first actual problem/annoyance I've had with Vista so far.
Searches on Google have said that the Vista Codec Package is a fix for it, but I don't want to risk downloading this from some random site - especially if it's not going to work.

I have the same problem, related to COM Surrogate. I have been dealing with this really anoying problem for several weeks, and i'm getting tired of it. If this continues, i'm going back to good linux ubuntu, which excels in multimedia content (almost flawless, even when rotating the 3d desktop cube).
I was very disappointed after installing windows vista SP2 today in the morning, because it provided a temporary "solution" to this problem. For those of you who have this problem, the messages will disappear after installing SP2 because the explorer will switch to the ugly icons view instead of thumbnails. While this workaround will be useful for a few days, it is not a solution, but a simple trick.
If you switch back to thumbnail view, the problem appears again, even after updating to SP2.
To microsoft guys: Please provide a patch for Vista! this is really anoying because my laptop, which i use almost exclusively for entertainment, shows this message over and over when I open folders containing video files.
By the way, the solution of Ronnie didn't work at all. It made things worse. My computer has hardware DEP, so i don't see why i should disable DEP to any program. Anyway, I disabled DEP to the COM Surrogate and the message didn't show anymore, but it resulted in explorer crashing a few seconds later on my computer, after that i decided to perform the windows update in the hope that the problem was already solved but nothing.
Please post when the update is ready! I'm getting bored at home :(

It means that iTunes looked for something on the iTunes Store servers and either it wasn't there(404) or the iTunes Store servers denied access to it(403). These can't be resolved at your end.

I made sure nothing had the source file open.
Stopped and re-started the job server service.
The issue was that I had Data / Filter / Auto-Filter turned ON, and saved the sheet.
I re-opened the sheet and turned off the Auto-Filter and it runs just fine.
