Com.vcast.mediamanager has stopped unexpectedly

The error message that is bombarding my phone display, constantly:
The application Backup+
Media (process com.vcast.
mediamanager) has stopped
unexpectedly.  Please try
again.
I think it may have began after I connected my Motorola Android Pro to my PC for the first time; however, cannot confirm this is related.  I transfer files using "mass storage" so that the phone appears as a drive letter in Windows.  I do not install any special drivers or use any software.  I do not use Media manager.
During the day, when I use my Motorola Android Pro to, for example, send a text message, or receive a phone call, I have to click OK on a prompt with the error message I posted above.  The error message goes away, but will pop up again, and again, throughout the day.  I cannot answer an incoming call without clicking CLOSE on the error.  This error is relentless.  Closing the error message only makes it go away for a short time, then it comes back.  When I click the error box it states that I am "closing" the process.  It doesn't stay closed, it just comes back again.  The error pop up interrupts whatever I am doing on the phone.  I have searched the web trying to discover a resolution.  In doing so, I believe the error has to do with Verizon's VCast Media Manager app.  This isn't something I need.
I don't want "VCast Media Manager". I don't need it.  I think it has to do with backing up contacts, which is something I can do via Google.
My question is, is there a way to get rid of the offending app, and if not, what is the official Verizon fix for this so I can live without this reoccurring error?
Please, a supported solution, an no recommendations to "root" or alter my device in a way that will void warranty. Thank you.

    Hi there LazyGirl!
A reoccurring error message sure can put a damper on one's day, but please know that I'm here to brighten things up and work my magic to get that error to disappear.
Based on your description of things, I'm left to conclude that it's relative to your Backup Assistant application not working properly on your device. With that said, please go to settings > applications > manage applications > all > Backup Assistant. From there, clear data and force stop the application and see how it reacts from there. Hopefully you won't see the error again and if you do, please let me know.

  • "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" error

I have the first motorola droid that came out(A855). I keep getting this error message on my phone "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" Gives me the option to force close or report. I have the latest software update(Droid 2.2). I have tried everything to fix this problem, reboot and take the battery out, cut off the cdma signals. I have did the factory data reset on it and the hard reset and it still did not go away. I think it is a bug in the software but not for sure. Do I need to send it to motorola to get it repaired are something? I can receive phone calls and make calls but as soon as I do the error pops up. I can send text messages but cant receive them. Please, anyone, Help Me Fix This Problem, Thanks

Take it back to verizon, you have a 1 year warranty, they will make you jump through the hoops, including doing another factory reset, but you should be able to get a replacement.

  • Force close message - application App Shop (process com.mobihand.skylight) has stopped unexpectedly

Just started to get the fore close message "application App Shop (process com.mobihand.skylight) has stopped unexpectedly. I even did a factory reset and still it is showing up. Funny that Lenovos own App Store is causing the force close message. Frustrating....have had the K1 for 3 weeks with no problems and now this everytime i turn on the tablet i get the above message twice.

I just bought the K1 two weeks ago.  Soon after I received a system update, it said there was an App Store update available and, from then on, I received the error and force close message described above.  I just uninstalled the app and that solved the problem.  Are you suggesting that the app store app is what updates all of the apps I have loaded?  I just thought it was a marketing feature and thought it unnecessary since I could get to the app store another way by going to Apps and Shop.  Could someone clarify its purpose, please?  Thanks!

simplyk1, so sorry you are experiencing this with your new device.  I am happy to further assist.
Wildman gave a great suggestion, I would like to add if you noticed this particular error message after downloading a specific application(s), uninstall the application.  I am including a link with instructions and screen shots for uninstalling applications below:

  • [A1] Application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly

I've had my slate for about a week and this message keeps popping up upon boot. And it keeps coming back.
I haven't rooted it, I haven't installed anything off-market, I've just slapped on a screen protector and upgraded to the latest OTA (http://download.lenovo.com/slates/a1/OTA/A107W0_A234_001_014_2525_ROW.zip).
I've powered the system down for a few minutes and put the charger on, but the next time I power on, it boots up slower. I have to wait about 30 seconds to enter the Unlock screen, and another 10 before my Home screen icons appear.
If I try to switch between the standard Home Launcher panes, the scrolling stutters. If I open the built-in web browser, the application launcher crashes and I enter the endless cycle of FORCE QUIT buttons. (I can try to enter the icon list, but it's blank.)
I've done the hold-the-power-button-until-the-device-turns-off, power-on and enter Recovery menu and deleted everything off my slate (return to Factory Settings) and reinstalled everything (save for the OTA ROM which remained there) and things were working fine until a few minutes ago when I wanted to complain about Airplane mode. Airplane mode, let me make another thread on that.
In a nutshell, this Force Quit message is annoying. The slow power-on is annoying. Power-off/power-on does nothing. Factory-reset does nothing. And I've got an Airplane mode bug now. What's wrong and how do I fix it? (I'm already getting the support number on lenovo.com/support/phone ( http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=PD008893 ) and calling them Monday morning.)

perhaps a master reset will reoslve your issue.
I have the same problem after master reset the issue is gone
    Steps to Master Reset  >>
Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset
Please take note that this action will delete all your personal data that saved .

  • Process com.android.phone has stopped...

I received a message saying I need to clear some space on my phone to receive any further messages. Then I started receiving error messages the first one says Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. This pops up repeatedly non-stop. I can't place calls, get into any apps, I really can't do anything. If I restart the phone I get the error message System UIDs Inconsistent with the only option to click "I feel lucky".
I tried putting the phone in safe mode, but the same error message keeps popping up, it still says my phone is low on memory, and I can't do anything with my phone.
What do I do?? Please help!

        Hey there trinarose!
I know how much of a burden it can be to get an error on your phone like this! I want to help you out. It sounds like there is a corrupt file on the device. At this point what I would recommend is a master reset of the device. Take a look at the steps here http://bit.ly/OgmMQm. Please remember to save all your information prior to erasing the phone. Please let us know if you're still having issues with this.
    Thanks!

  • Com.htc.bgp has stopped..............whatever that...

I'm getting the above pop up message today, on my HTC Wildfire S while connected to my wifi at home. I'm not connected to the mobile phone network here, as there's no signal. I've no idea what this message means, but it won't go away whether I select the 'force close' option or the 'tell HTC' option.
Any advice about what this means and how to sort it out would be most welcome!

Do a Google search for "com.htc.bgp has stopped unexpectedly", its a common problem.

  • Application messaging extention has stopped unexpectedly

    Hi,
After upgrading my Xperia X10 to 2.3, I get the following error message.
It comes only when I open a newly received SMS from the notification area.
    The message says,
The application extention (process com.sonyericsson.eventstream.telephonyplugin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
This comes with a force close.
This does not cause any troubles, but its really annoying getting this msg.
    Can someone pls help?

I would advise running a repair via PC Companion as it appears there was an issue with the loading of the firmware, particularly if this problem is consistent.

  • T2 "ContentService has stopped unexpectedly"

I am getting the error message: "The application ContentService has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." This happens every time I turn on my PRS-T2 after it has been completely shut down. I tried a soft reset and the same thing happens: after pressing the reset button and then the power button, my T2 starts up, then I get the "ContentService has stopped unexpectedly" error.
After the error message, there is a "Force Close" button. I touch "Force Close" and everything appears to be fine and the T2 functions normally.
This does not happen when I wake from sleep. It only happens when I power up after a complete shut down or a soft reset.
I am using the most recent Firmware: 1.0.03.09110
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for your suggestion.
I ended up re-initializing the T2's Internal Memory and re-loading all my books. That solved the problem for a while. But after adding/deleting a few books, the "ContentService has stopped unexpectedly" error returned.
Since re-initializing creates a fresh new books.db, is it possible the database is not updating properly during use?
Interestingly, connecting the T2 to a computer, entering USB mode, then safely disconnecting (after which, I believe the T2 automatically checks and updates its database?) also seems to solve the problem for a while. Perhaps the database needs to be checked/refreshed more often?
Finally, I did not try a hard reset, but I did do a soft reset, which did not help.
P.S. You may also want to take a look at this thread from the MobileRead forums, where people are getting ContentService errors with Collections and when managing large numbers of books: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showth ... 3&t=189931
P.P.S. The T2 is a great ereader overall, and so far the "ContentService" error hasn't been a big problem. Tapping "force close" dismisses the error easily enough, then the T2 continues merrily along without further problems (that I can tell). I offer the above not so much as a complaint, but in hopes that your tech team might find it useful and figure out a way to prevent the error from happening.

  • Application Camera has stopped unexpectedly

Ever since I ran the OS update, my camera doesn't work at all.
I click the Camera icon and get this message:
    Sorry!
The application Camera (process com.google.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Button options are: Force Close, and Report.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? (It screwed up my taking pictures in NYC this weekend...)
    Thanks!

    Update:
Well, after jiggling the keyboard in and out a couple of times (while waiting for customer service on the phone) , the phone rebooted and now the camera works perfectly!  So maybe the battery was just not reseated quite fully again after I took it out.
Anyway, my problem is now resolved.
Thanks very much for the help!

  • Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later

    Hi,
I have an HTC Incredible 2 running on Android on Verizon. I have this problem where I cannot access my phone (for calling) or access any of my contacts. Trying to access it results in the error message " android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later." The mail, the internet and the messaging work fine. But I cannot call anyone or add or access my contacts. From my message inbox, it looks like my contacts information has been wiped out because for my previous messages, I only get the numbers of my contacts, but not their names or pictures.
I did a bit of searching on Google and it looks like the error comes because of  some syncing issue in the contacts, but I have not been able to go much further. Any help in this direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Ketan!  Thanks for posting!
I would like to assist you with getting your device working the way it should.
Have you ensured your device is running the latest software version?  If not, please update the software first.  If you still notice the force close errors after ensuring your software is up to date, then try resetting the applications that are giving the errors.  Reset the phone/dialer application, contacts/people and messaging applications.  As a last resort, a hard reset of the device will resolve the issue as well.  Please ensure your data is backed up prior to the reset.
I trust I have answered your questions, and have addressed your concerns.

  • The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly..........

i think some apps may have gotten accidentally deleted by my son. my contacts are gone and it's also saying the application google services framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.
my phone will not sync when i press the phone button to call out it shows- sorry. the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.
please help....i don't know how to fix it.

Tamsmadd, I can certainly assist you with the issues on your device. Are your contacts backed up to Google? Try logging into your Gmail account on your browser or computer to verify. First, try clearing cache/data from your Gmail application. If it is still not working after that then I suggest a factory reset. This resets the phone to factory default settings and will erase everything on the phone that is not on the SD card. Your pictures, videos, music are saved to the SD card by default on the Incredible 2.
