Combination HD/SD and field order

Hello all -
I have a program which combines 1080i60 and 480i video in a 1080i60 timeline. The 1080i footage was captured through a Kona LHe, upconverted from 720p30 and 480i DVCAM by the JVC deck. The SD footage was captured as uncompressed SD from Beta SP using the same Kona.
My question has to do with managing the field order for encoding to SD mepg for DVD.
When I send the sequence to compressor, the mpeg preset defaults to upper field dominance (top first). I am used to specifying SD encodes as bottom first, but left it set that way for my first test, figuring this would correspopnd to the field order oof the source. What I seem to be seeing is that only the SD clips are winding up with reversed fields. I could be wrong, and I need to check it a little more carefully, since a lot of the footage originated as progressive anyway.
However, my question is, if in fact it is only these clips, which is the best way to address this:
- change the field dominance of the SD master clips in FCP?
- apply a field reversal filter to the clips in the sequence?
- de-interlace the clips in the sequence?
- change the field dominance in my Compressor preset?
I'd be interested to find out more about how the field dominance is managed by FCP when upconverting, downconverting, and combining formats is handled when capturing, editing, and exporting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks -
Max Average

Upon further inspection (viewing the DVD on a CRT) it looks like the fields are ok after all.I wa seeing the fields in simulator, which is normal, but the field order looks correct on the final disc.
I am noticing one very strange effect on a clip that has been slowed down, however, where the fields seem to be getting interpreted in the wrong order, resulting in a back-and-forth motion. Again thie clip is interlaced SD in an HD sequence.

  • Motion and Field Order Stupidness

I'll try not to rant too much.
But what is up with Motion and working with DV NTSC video with fields? I have had nothing but headaches. I am a long time After Effects user, and I was glad to get Motion 2 (2.1.2), but I've just spent the last hour and half trying to get it to render DV NTSC video correctly without it getting field jitter on a project that needed to be over-nighted to go on the air. And it still doesn't look totally correct. (I'm not a happy camper)
Here's the deal, I took DV captured footage from FCP using the standard DV/DVCPRO - NTSC preset I've used forever. That footage was imported into a Motion project that was using its own NTSC DV project preset (all lower fields -even). But every time I'd play it back in Motion, or render it out (still using the NTSC DV render preset), I get serious field jitter on DV output.
Eventually I found under the Inspector-Media tabs that the footage was imported as Field Order- None (why I have not a clue). So I changed all the footage to Lower (even). That worked on any footage where size, rotation, or position was not changed. If any of those attributes was changed I get the field order jitter. It seems to me that Motion is not able to render out field ordered video properly and the quality looks poor or jittery.
Now that might seem hasty to say that, but I've been doing the same thing in AE for years, never having to change the imported field order to get it to look right and I have always captured, imported, work with projects and rendered using the QT DV/DVCPRO - NTSC presets.
Can someone help me because I can not believe I've had to change so many setting to try to get video to look right from Motion while using the same settings during the entire workflow.
Thanks, and sorry for the rant.

    Hey, thanks for the replys.
[....you might want to try using the animation codec..millions of colors...]
I gave that a shot this morning, and I'm having the same problem. See what's going on now is after changing the Field Order to even for the footage media, all of it looks decent except for the ones on an angle, croped or resized and I see this in both Motion's preview and the final render when I play it back in FCP. So as per your suggestion I rendered with the animation codec (filed rendering) and it still has it. Its just odd to me that it does that, like I said before I've worked in the DV/DVCPRO - NTSC codec with FCP and AE for years with no quality degrade. The reason I have always do that is that's what I capture to and that what my FCP project is so to keep it all consistant. BTW, this is going network and cable, no different than I usually do.
[...are you enabling field rendering in the Canvas or in the export settings?]
Yes I am, sorry, I should have pointed that out. I have done combinations of different QT codecs with and without field rendering turned on to see different results. None of course resolves this issue.
    Thanks

  • HDV, ProRe, and field order

    Hi all.
I'm having a field order issue. I have many Quicktime movies in HDV 1080i60. I am trying to convert these to ProRes LT for editing, and then encode the result with a compressor preset for DVD.
If I use the ProRes LT for interlaced material preset, everything seems fine until I encode that to mpeg2. Compressor detects the ProRes file as interlaced, and I have frame controls off for the mpeg conversion. But the field order appears wrong upon viewing; it appears right if I change the native field dominance to "progressive" before encoding to mpeg2.
So can anyone tell me why the ProRes behaves as if it is always progressive? I can't figure out what is missing.
    Thanks.

  • Test Presentment and Field Order

Okay, I think I've found my problem.
I'm developing my first form ever with Adobe Output Designer. And I'm using the Test Presentment option to see where all the fields are on the form.
However, it appears that the fields are displaying in sequential order, regardless of where I position them on the form. So, in example, if I make three subforms, and I use a dat file for the test presentment, but the 1nd subform has the field that appears second in the dat file. The 2nd subform has a field that appears first in the dat file, and the 3rd subform has a field that appears 3rd in the subform...
The Test Presentment comes out displaying:
    Second Subform
    First Subform
    Third Subform
Even though the order of the subforms, and the child/parent relationships, are correct on the form themselves.
So, in the Test Presentment, how can I force it to display them delimited, instead of sequential?
    Thanks.

I've never used sub-forms so I've not experienced this phenomenon but I'm not surprised it occurs. The print agent (and test presentment) wants to match up the fields with the forms so it produces the forms in the order that the fields are found. I
    i think
that the solution would be to make the fields
    b global.
In addition to setting the global characteristic for the fields on the form, the dat file would have
    b ^global
    instead of
    b ^field.
Just for the purpose of seeing the field positions, it might work to let Designer build the dat file. At least you discovered this phenomenon early.
We use global fields almost exclusively. That allows our application that builds the dat file to define all the fields in the dat file followed by all the forms to be printed (we usually print "packets" containing several different forms and not just a single form). The alternative would be to define a form followed by the fields followed by another form and then some more fields yadda, yadda, yadda. With global fields the application doesn't need to be aware of which form references specific fields. It allows our application to present a "verification screen" to the user with just some pertinant data elements instead of all of the individual forms in their entirity (much faster).
Global fields are placed in a "dictionary" by the print agent and any form in the dat file can reference them. In addition to the advantage mentioned above this allows for the field to be defined in the dat file just once even though it may be used on several of the forms that are to be printed.

  • DrillDown and field order

    Hello,
I have a dimension with several levels each one with a code field and a description field.
When I drill from an high level to a lower one the bi give me the descritpion before the code... is there a way to tell in which order drill down fields?
Thanks to anyone who tries help me
    example
    DIMENSION:
    --Lv1
    cod lv1
    desc lv1
    ----Lv2
    cod lv2
    desc lv2
    1)REPORT with DRILLDOWN (start)
    COD LV1 , DESC LV1
2)REPORT with DRILLDOWN (after drill on desc lv1 (cod lv1 interaction has been disabled))
    COD LV1 , DESC LV1 + --> DESC LV2,COD LV2

Thank you all for your answers!
UserMB, so we have the same problem... in some reports I achieved the wanted result but I don't understand how...
In these reports I always get codes before description when drilling... but the reports are equal to the others ... and also the dimensions in the repository are built in the same way.
Perhaps we can try to compare our dimension:
In each level of my dimension I have 2 keys:
-a key for each level using the code (a key without drilldown option)
-a key for the drilldown that includes code and description to get both field drilling.
    have you done the same?

  • Sony Z1U and field ordering

    Hi,
We have a project that have Sony HDV 60i footage.
We tried to convert HDV 60i (upper field) to normal SD 720X480 lower field first.
We droppd the HDV footage in a 720X480 lower field first timeline.
It works, but FCP adds a filter to each clip "shift fields".
but even then, we see some artifacts.
What should we do to have crisp image ?
    thanks

Ouch. OK, what about just bringing all the footage into Compressor and Exporting as DV NTSC Anamorphic? For a short period of time, you would need twice the HDD space that the media currently occupies, but then you could delete the original HDV material or with the cost of hard drives now a days, you could just buy another to place the HDV material onto for a backup.
    Good luck,
    -Brian

  • Re field order in INNER JOIN

    Hi,
I need a suggestion for improvement of my inner JOIN statement.
internal table itab is of below type
    type: begin of ty_itab
            field a
            field b
            field c
            field d
            end of ty_itab
I have to join two database table TABLE1 and TABLE2. Fields a and d are from TABLE2 and fields b and c are from TABLE 1.
But in the internal table I must have the fields in the order fielda,b,c,d.
Which of the below two options will be better for performance ? And why ?
    option 1:
    SELECT tab2~a
                  tab1~b
                  tab1~c
tab2~d into corresponding fields of itab from TABLE1 as tab1 and TABLE2 as tab2 on..........
    option2:
    SELECT tab1~b
                  tab1~c
                  tab2~a
tab2~d into corresponding fields of itab from TABLE1 as tab1 and TABLE2 as tab2 on..........
    Thanks in advance...

I am not satisfied with your two options. Because of following reason,
    1. First I want to know which one is master table and item table. Because in inner join select query you want to use master table as first and you want to use the item table as second.
    Example:
    SELECT TAB2A  TAB1B TAB1C TAB2D
          INTO TABLE ITAB
        FROM <MASTER TABLE1> AS TAB1 INNER JOIN <ITEM TABLE2> AS TAB2 ON..........
    2. You should not use the INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF ITAB. Instead of this you can change the field order in internal table or in select query.
    Example:
    Use following way
    TYPE: BEGIN OF TY_ITAB
                    FIELD A
                    FIELD B
                    FIELD C
                    FIELD D
               END OF TY_ITAB
    SELECT TAB2A  TAB1B TAB1C TAB2D
         INTO TABLE ITAB
       FROM <MASTER TABLE1> AS TAB1 INNER JOIN <ITEM TABLE2> AS TAB2 ON..........
Or , Anyway you are going to use in program only. It will not affect your logic if change the field order in the internal table.
    TYPE: BEGIN OF TY_ITAB
                    FIELD B
                    FIELD C
                    FIELD A
                    FIELD D
              END OF TY_ITAB
    SELECT TAB1B  TAB1C  TAB2A  TAB2D
         INTO TABLE ITAB
       FROM <MASTER TABLE1> AS TAB1 INNER JOIN <ITEM TABLE2> AS TAB2 ON..........
    3. In inner join query, the order of Where condition also create the perform issue. Because in where condition maximum you try to use all the primary key from <MASTER TABLE1>  and <ITEM TABLE2> and field order in where condition should be same order in <MASTER TABLE1>  and  <ITEM TABLE>.
This are the things you want to take care when you try to use INNER JOIN Query. If you have any clarification please let me know. I will try answer your Questions.
    Ravi.

  • Combined Purchase Order and Sales Order Query. (Including Stand Alone Docs)

    Hi,
    I need some help please!
I am looking for a query that will show all the Purchase Orders with all their base document Sales Orders. However I also need to show those stand alone Purchase orders and Sales Orders.
What I have is two queries, one for the PO fields en one for The SO fields. I would like a way to combine these two so I have one query with the relevant PO and SO info next to each other.
The final query will have a top heading structure like this:
    Status,Purchase No.,Supplier No.,Supplier Name,Week,Month,Del Method,Country,Method,Rep.|Status,Rep.,Sales No.,Customer No.,Customer Name,Customer Order no.,Cust. Del date,Doc total,Del Method
+(The first part is for the purchase order section, the second part starting at the second 'Status' is the sales order section)
    +Purchase Order Query:
    SELECT
      T0.DocStatus 'Status',
      T0.DocNum'Purchase Order No.',
      T0.CardCode 'Supplier No.',
      T0.CardName'Supplier Name',
      DATEPART(ww,T0.DocDuedate)'Week',
      DATEPART(mm,T0.DocDuedate) 'Month',
      T1.TrnspName 'Delivery Method',
      T2.Country 'Country',
      T0.JrnlMemo 'Method',
      T3.SlpName 'Rep.'
    FROM OPOR T0
    INNER JOIN OSHP T1 ON T0.TrnspCode = T1.TrnspCode
    INNER JOIN OCRD T2 ON T0.CardCode = T2.CardCode
    INNER JOIN OSLP T3 ON T0.SlpCode = T3.SlpCode
    Sales Order Query:
    SELECT
      T0.DocStatus 'Status',
      T2.SlpName 'Rep.',
      T0.DocNum 'Sales Order No.',
      T0.CardCode 'Customer No.',
      T0.CardName 'Customer Name',
      T0.NumAtCard 'Customer Order no.',
      T0.DocDueDate 'Cust. Delivery date',
      T0.DocTotal ' Doc total',
      T1.TrnspName ' Delivery Method'
    FROM ORDR T0
    INNER JOIN OSHP T1 ON T0.TrnspCode = T1.TrnspCode
    INNER JOIN OSLP T2 ON T0.SlpCode = T2.SlpCode
The problem I am having is that if I combine these queries it excludes all those records with blank/empty data fields.
I do not mind having to go to crystal reports to get what I want.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi thanks GordonDu,
I have tried a union before, and yours works great. However my problem is to display the  PO en SO columns next to each other and not underneath each other.
    Something like this:
Po No          Supplier          SO No           Customer
    1234           Sup 1             9876              Cust 1
    1235           Sup 2             no SO             Cust 2
    1236           Sup 3             9877              Cust 3
    1237           Sup 4             9878              Cust 4
    1238           Sup 5             no SO             Cust 4
I have this query, but with this it drops all those Purchase Orders made Stand Alone and without a SO number.
    SELECT
      T2.DocNum AS 'Purchase Order No.',
      T0.DocNum AS 'Sales Order No.',
      T2.CardCode AS 'Supplier No.',
      T2.CardName AS 'Supplier Name'
    FROM ORDR T0
       INNER JOIN RDR1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry
       INNER JOIN OPOR T2 ON T2.DocEntry = T1.PoTrgEntry
Though using your Union gives me all the information I want and the ability to expand on that, my problem is the "Display" part. I am sure I am doing something stupid somwhere

  • Combine and slipt -order,delivery ,billing.

    hi gurus,
I want some material and configuration steps on combine and split -order,delivery ,billing.pls send my mail.
    Thanks&regards
    rao
    [email protected]

Delivery split depend on Shipping point ,Ship to party , Forwarding agent , Incoterms & delivery date at item level .
    Check Tcode VTLA
Suppose line item 2 has different abaove mentioned parameter than one in the sales order then it will create two different delivery .
This is control by routine in Copy control . It will all these detail and then copy the data from order to delivery .
Sma is the case with Invoice split . It is also control in Copy Control by a routine in the field VBRK/VBRP --- 007  in Tcode VTFA at item level.
Invoice split depend on Payer , Billing date, Incoterms & Payement terms at header level and item level.
One imp thing u can create ur own routine with some additional criteria for split to happen .
    Hope this will help.

  • Sale Order Item Level Text Field which table and field

    Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply and best solution.
Can you please tell me one more thing, in sale order at item level the TEXT Field maintaining by user at transaction level now they want that field in one of the report, so can you please tell what is the table and field where i will get this sale order item level text details.

    Hello,
is this going to work for item level text as well.
can you tell how to proceed with this functional module
or is there any other thing required. Please elaborate to
    understand better way.
You can check out two table in respect to Sales TEXT i.e. STXH (STXD SAPscript text file header) and STXL(SAPscript text file lines).
The best approach of tracing out the Text in respect to Sales Order would be to use the Function module READ_TEXT and put this FM in SE37 and execute with the following parameter.
    Client
Text ID of text to be read
Language of text to be read
Name of text to be read
Object of text to be read
    Archive handle
    Text catalog local
When you are essentially looking to read item level Text with respect to Sales Order then your Text OBject would be VBBP.

I cant find the way to reference the 2 purchase document clearly.
B - Using a release order, when copying the item from contract catalogue by clicking the service selection icon,  description and net price are correctly copied:  the description is not modifiable  but the net price can be change by the user. You can control the sorting by placing a [...] tag in the Marker Text, such as:

The term(s) in the brackets are used only for sort. What appears in the Index is the following text.
Or you can just edit the Marker Text.
