Combine 2 photos as layers

Hello
I know how to combine photos as layers.
However, I would like to delete some ares from one of the layers, and merge it with the first layer to one photo.
I used the brush tool, both black and white color, but all I get is black/white spots on each layer I use.
Can't I merge them to one photo, deleting the areas I would like to?
Thanks a lot

Hello there-
It seems like you want to make a photo Composite. To start off there is a great PS Touch for Tablet tutorial here.
1. Below you can see I have two photos I would like to merge into "one". I selected an eraser tool to erase portion of the image I have selected. I will only need the woman's head, so erasing it is a great way to eliminate a portion of the painting.
2. Below you can see how I have just the woman's head remaining from the top layer. The painting below reveals the woman's hat, which I will next want to remove.
3. I am going to transform the size of the woman's head, by tapping the outlined tool.
4. Below I have changed the size of the woman's head. Tap the checkmark when you are done.
5. I am not going to eliminate the bottom layers woman's hat. By tapping the clone tool, I can clone the surrounding area to eliminate the hat.
6. Below you can see the woman's hat is now removed.
7. Now I am going to merge the layers. Tap the top layer, then the layer icon and tap the "merge" icon.
8. Select Merge Down > Done.
9. You now have created a composite.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

You could always remove/disable the Persona that you don't want. Go to Add-ons > Appearance, and then just disable/remove the offending Persona.
Though, if you really want to save your bookmarks:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Which will open the Library > Look for Import and Backup > Backup...> and it will prompt to you save the file somewhere. To add them back into Firefox, go back to the library > Import and Backup again > Restore > Choose File... > and then open the file you saved earlier.

I have manipulated a photo using layers etc and then flattened it and saved it under a new name.  When I use 'Preview' (mac) to view the finished photo it doesn't look right.  It's as the layers have not flattened correctly.  When viewed in Elements 12 it looks OK.  The photo looks incorrect in other software such as photo books.
Looking at the same photo before flattening, what is being shown is only the top layer.
    How do I correct this?

The top layer is indeed the one that is visible, unless there is/are area(s) of translucency on that layer, so that you can visualize a portion of the subjacent layer.
the finished photo it doesn't look right.  It's as the layers have not flattened correctly.
Are your settings targeted to have the printer manage colors, or, to have PSE manage colors?

  • Adding photos to layers

how do i add photos to layers so i can blend images on photoshop element 8?

    Hi,
    Please follow these steps -
1 - Select the photos and open them in editor.
2 - These will open the photos as different images in project bin (under the image)
3 - Simply drag and drop one photo from the bin to another.
Each image you drag comes as a new layer. This will get the photos as different layers on the project
    Hope that helps.

  • Combining multi photos into one?

I have taken several shots of a rally car going through a corner with a wide angle and would like to show the different positions of the car in the corner in one photo. the max to combine is 4 into 1

To combine several photos into one you need a program that can do compositioning. Aperture does not really support graphics compositioning. You will need to use an extertal editor that can layer images and supports alpha channels and transparency, like the the free GIMP, Pixelmator, Graphic Converter, Photoshop, or Photoshop elements.
With these programs you would be able to extract the cars in the different photos as a mask, make the background trasparent and overlay these masks onto the first image. This will work, provided you kept the camera pointing into exactly the same direction while taking the four pictures. Otherwise you will have to do lens correction as well to make the images match.

  • Touched up photo with layers. Could only save as PSD. Need JPEG; How?

Not super experienced with PS, so thanks for your patience with this newbie question.I touched up photos using layers. I went to save and it would only let me save as a PSD. The PSD format does not work for my application. How can I save it as a JPEG. The picture is going to be used on a Multiple listing Service. The photo will open in PS. Not even Finder on my Mac will open it.
    Warm Aloha,
    Randy

The JPEG format does not support layers, period.  The correct solution is as described in post #1 by C.P.
Please note that the file will be flattened to save it as a JPEG, so heed the admonition to keep your layered original and work on a copy as he describes.

  • If I go to PS and add layers can I bring the photo with layers back to Lightroom?

If I go to PS and add layers can I bring the photo with layers back to Lightroom?

This is more complicated than I expected:  I had to go back to LR to check what I did previously. Here is what I found.  I hope this helps to explain what can be done.  You can have both layers and LR adjustments; you just cannot see the layers in LR nor can you see the LR adjustments in PS.  The good news is that they are both there and can be changed as needed.
I have a photo (Raw) of a blue jay sitting on a branch with the background out of focus.
I made many of the usual LR edits such as exposure, contrast, whites, blacks, sharpening, etc.
I wanted to print it as a Birthday Card so I sent it to PSCC 2014 as a smart object.
In PS, I added a type layer "Happy Birthday"
Back in LR, I now have a psd Happy Birthday file stacked with the original raw file.
Fine and as yet, no ADDITIONAL LR edits AFTER rendering right?
I made some LR adjustments to the psd file such as crop to a different aspect ratio and add a vignette.
I printed the psd file on a folded card.
So far so good, you're still in LR. LR can take the new edits made there AND the layers and spit out a print. Nothing new or special here.
Later I wanted to use that same image as a anniversary card.
I told LR to edit that same psd file in PSCC 2014, this time not a smart object, but selecting "Edit Original".
You got your original layered file. Nothing new or special here.
PS opened with the "Happy Birthday" type layer intact and with the smart object background layer.  Of  course, the LR edits, crop and vignette on the psd file were not visible in PS.
Because they don't exist there! They will when you render them.
I clicked the eye of the Happy Birthday to render it invisible.
I added a new "Happy Anniversary" type layer.
Saved the new revised psd file and returned to LR.
In LR, I still have only 1 psd file stacked with the original raw file, but now it says Happy Anniversary. Note: sometimes it may take a few moments for the new PS edits to appear.  By selecting another image and then reselect this psd file tends to speed this rendering of the new image.
So where in all this is the LR edits you produce AFTER up created the layers after opening the layered doc in PS?
I now have a new card ready to print just as before with all the LR edits originally made on the birthday card including the LR edits, crop and vignette made on the original psd file.
And as far as I can tell, all those edits were applied in PS AFTER rendering.
If I send that psd file a third time to PS, I still have the smart object layer, and both type layers.  I can add a 3rd type layer "Happy Easter" if I so desire and return to LR.
Again, the crop and vignette are seen in the one psd file in LR.
So...yes, I can have both layers AND LR adjustments including the original raw adjustments through the smart object background.
No, you have a layered file and you have instructions but the layered file isn't rendered with those instructions and doing so would flatten the results.

  • Photos are layered

I am a newer user to iDVD and know just the basics with my computer.  I created a slideshow and have previewed it several times and some (not all) of the photos are layers over one another.  All of these photos were taken with my iphone so I don't understand why they are different sizes. I've messed with the transitions and that didnt fix anything.  So now I'm totally lost and clicking boxes I probably shouldn't be clicking just to see if anything will fix it.   Do I need to fix photos in iphoto before moving the pictures to iDVD?  I created one last year and it worked out fine. HELP!

Can you give us some detailed info on your slideshow?
Where are you creating the slideshow?
In iDVD with still photos or in iPhoto and sharing it to iDVD?
What aspect ratio do the images have and are they all the same?
    What format are the images?
What version of iDVD, iPhoto and the system are you running?
How many photos in the slideshow.
What Mac do you have and how much free space do you have on your hard drive?

  • Opening 2 photos in layers

I am using Elements 5 and want to replace a background. I have a person selected (with magic wand)on a layer. The original photo is also on a layer (background and background copy) I want to place the selection on another background. How do I get the new background into layers along with the original. For some reason I haven't been able to open both photos (original and new background) and have them all show in layers. When I click on the new background I lose the original selection and original background layers.
    Bob Ennis

You can never see the layers palette for more than one photo at a time. That doesn't prevent you from creating a new layer by dragging or copy/pasting, though, in the photo whose layers palette is not visible at the time. You need to be in Cascade or Tile view, though, to work with more than one photo at once.

  • Using layers to combine color photo over lined paper - color loss

I'm trying to do a guest book design for my mom's wedding. I have a photo that I want to combine over lined paper (created w/ Word and scanned. Saved as PDF). I was going to change the opacity of the photo to make it lighter while also bringing in the lines of the image below. I renamed the photo so it was no longer background, selected it, copied and pasted over my white, lined image and the color photo then became a grainy black and white. Alternatively, I could have put the photo over a white background and changed the opacity to lighten it and then drawn lines on the image but this did not work as the lines did not come out uniform. Would really appreciate help!!! I have a couple of PSE books but am still stuck. I'm using PSE 12.
    Thanks!

Assuming your lined image is black lines on white background, place the lined image above the picture in the Layers Palette. Change the Opacity of the lined image to Multiply. The lines will appear and the picture unchanged.
This is an old version of PSE so my Layers Palette will look different from yours, but the result should be the same.
Is this what you are trying to do?

  • How to combine two photos in one without white border?

I am trying to combine two different photos next to each other (each 10 cm * 7.5 cm) in one of 10 cm * 15 cm and save it as a jpg file. Unfortunately when I do this in the print module (custom package) I get a file with a white border. I have set up page settings to 10*15 cm without border. How can I get a combined file without a border?

    Titas,
This involves row level comparison of the report column data values we can achieve this in BI Publisher but at answers level there is no option.

  • Help with scanned photo in layers

I am using Elements 9 trial, and my questions involves scanned photos.  I understand that the layers do not show in a scanned photo, and so I would like to know if there is a way to save the photos in Elements 9 so the layers can show.  What I want to do is remove all text from a magazine cover, leaving the person on the photo so I'll end up with a portrait with only the person's likeness.  Can this be done?  I am new to all this and would really appreciate some help.  Thanks ...

You can try the following lines in PSE6:
    - After you have splitted all the scanned images, save all the images
    - now go to each image and select the part of the image that you want in the final image. You can use any of the available selection tools
    - now after selecting the part of the image, right click on the selected part and choose Layer via copy option
    - as soon as you will select this option a new layer would be created in the layers pane that you can find at right hand side. If the layers pane is not visible, you can select Window->Layers option to make it visible.
    - The new layer created in the layers pane would contain only that part of the image that you have selected.
    - Now select that layer in the layers pane and right click on it
    - You will get an option Duplicate Layer. Select it.
    - You will see a new dialog box.
    - Now give it a new name.
    - In the drop down, select the blank document that you have just created above. By default its name should be Untitled-1
    - Now Press OK button.
    - Go to the blank document that you have created. There you will find the new layer pasted that you have selected in the scanned image.
    - You can also adjust the size and the position of the new layer of image on the blank document (which is not blank at this point of time)
    - Now repeat the above steps for all the scanned images.
Repost if you get any problems in doing above steps.
    Thanks.
