Combine iWeb 08 sites in iWeb 09

I used to have a few .sites2 documents in iWeb 08 for maintaining more than one website.
In iWeb 09 it is possible to maintain more sites in one .sites2 document and publish them separately. That is a great benefit for me.
However I would like to know if there is a way to import multiple iWeb 08 domain sites into one iWeb 09 document. I can import one, but I don't see how to import another in the same document.
Anyone?

I agree with Roddy. I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
My family site has over 45 pages, each a separate site linked together by a entry/welcome site. That facilitates quicker opening and editing of a page rather than having an enormous single file opened. If something goes wrong with one site, i.e. damaged the entire family site is not affected. I have 3 demo sites that were once one site. It got so big and clumsy to open and use that I broke it down into 3 separate demo sites with links to the others. It also makes backing up of sites you're working on a lot quicker as the old pages (sites) have been backed up and don't need further backing up. It's just a workflow preference.

I have an iWeb site that I'd setup on my laptop while I was traveling and I'd like to now move it to my Mac Pro while not losing the sites I've already setup on the Mac Pro. Can I do this? How?

I generally keep the domain file on a flash drive and access it from there
on whatever computer.

Help combining iWeb sites or Uploading to a non .mac server

Using iWeb 2, my lovely bride created a site on her MacBook Pro and uploaded it to our .mac site. It (of course) overwrote our entire family set of sites (three altogether). Luckily, I still have those on my G5. Is there anyway to add her site to my domain file so I can publish them all?
Went to Apple Store in Bellevue, WA and genius and resident iWeb guy have no clue.
I also have other servers I could put her site on but when I publish it to a folder and upload it to that server, it loses all the links. Not the linked files (I assume they are all still there) but the actual links on the home page on hers don't show. You can see this problem at http://www.koobraey.com/alaska/InfinityMates2007/Home.html
If you know this template, you know there should be links above the title. And if you think that looks bad, you should see it on a PC. Yikes.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

When you publish to a folder in iWeb '08 there are three files that were not present in '06.
These are "feed", "media" and "scripts".
If you are uploading your files one by one, as I tend to do at times, you may have missed the 'feed" file. Have a look on your server to see if its there.

Combining iWeb libraries

I have been working on two separate machines on two separate website. I know that the content of my machine 1, iWeb is saved as Domain.Sites2, but the website saved on machine 2 is also saved as Domain.Sites2. I want to get both separate websites onto one machine. How do I combine the two individual Domain.Sites2 files onto a single machine? Thanks

Rename each domain file to reflect what's inside. Then double-click the one you want to work on.

Combine iWeb with Pages and ExcelMac

I would like to introduce a table with data and some functions in iWeb.
The objective is to let the user of the web change the data and let him/her to see the result in the cells where the functions are.
I've tried in the easy way: copy-paste and it doesn't work because iweb copy it as an image not as a excel/pages table.

Moving iWeb site from one computer to another

Hello,
I tried looking for an answer to this, but couldn't find one that was specific to this question.
I have iWeb on my computer at home, but I've created a site on a friends computer (using iWeb) and want to add this recently created site to my computer at home. I know I can copy the Domain file, but if I put that into my iWeb folder at home, won't that overwrite all the sites I've already created?
My question is: is there anyway to add a previously created site on a different computer to my existing roster of sites created on my home computer?

Hi Blair,
You cannot combine all the sites into one Domain file, and you would not want to do this anyway, even if you could; and yes, if you place the other Domain into the same path on your home machine, you will replace the Domain file that is there now.
What you should do to manage both sites/Domains from the same machine is change the default location of the Domain files to a folder structure, and manage the Domain files from there.
Create a couple of folders and name them, "Home Domain" and "Friend's Domain", for example. Place the Domains inside of these folders, and when you want to work on sites within a specific Domain just open the respective folder and double-click on the Domain file inside. iWeb will open and you will see the sites contained in that Domain as you have always seen them.
You will be able to move back and forth between these Domains created on different machines very easily this way.

How to link 2 iWeb sites

How can I get the Camping 2006 site into the Our Photo Album site? I want a link at the top of the page to display along with the others, "Camping 2006" but I want the individual pages in Camping 2006 to only be accesible through Camping 2006 and not at the top of the page of Our Photo Album.

You cannot actually combine the two sites, but what you can do is create a page in the Our Photo Album site, and name it Camping 2006; (this way it will show up in the nav bar of the 'Our Photo Album' site); then, on that page, just create a link to the Camping 2006 site. A suggestion for the link would be to just place a main photo from the Camping site, on the Camping 2006 page, and then enable it as a hyperlink to to the site.

Help with iWeb single file support

Hi all. I'm trying to make a single file document with html support to use as a cover letter for potential employers, I understand that .mhtml is not supported, is there an alternative so I can combine my entire site into a single file for easy distribution?

Open iWeb and go and publish your site from iWeb to your desktop and you then have one site folder, an index.html file and the assets file. Ditch the index and assets file and then you are just left with one site folder that has everything in it - so for a one page site you will have an index.html file, your one page.html and your one page folder, which contains the CSS for that page.
Burn this one site folder onto a DVD or however you want to distribute the site and both Mac and PC user will be able to open it with Safari, IE etc. As it is an html page it will open in a browser, so PC users will be able to see it.
If you were sharing your site with other Mac users, you could distribute the domain.sites file and other Mac users could then open this with iWeb, but it then depends on what version they have too - if you have made your site with iWeb 09 and they have iWeb 08, then they would not be able to open the domain file, as iWeb is not backward compatible.
Probably best to publish the site and distribute one site folder which everyone can get access to.

Can you combine 2 sites previously separated on IWEBSITES?

I have 2 different sites that I had separated using IWEBSITES. Now that Iweb 08 had destroyed using the two sites, I want to just combine them back to one. I tried using the button on IWEBSITES but it doesn't work. Is there a way to cut and paste from one to the other? OR a simpler way to combine two separated sites? IWEB 08 has really messed me up on this.

You can still have several sites and open them one at a time in iWeb. What you don't seem to be able to do at the moment is publish more than one site at a time to .Mac.

Upgrade OS of Primary Site (2008 R2 to 2012 R2)

Our org has a single primary site (SCCM 2012 R2 5.00.7958.1203) and is comprised of two site systems/servers and roughly 2500 clients.
Site System/Server 1 has the following site system roles installed:
Distribution Point
Management Point
Software Update Point
Site System/Server 2 has the following site system roles installed:
Site Database Server
Reporting Services Point
Both servers are currently running Windows Server 2008 R2. We'd like to upgrade the OS of these two site systems/servers to Windows Server 2012 R2 but as I understand it, Microsoft does not support this as an in place upgrade (Infrastructure
Upgrade for Configuration Manager).
Also, while it is not absolutely necessary, it would be nice to rename the site systems/servers in the process in order to better conform to our organization's naming conventions.
What is the best process to accomplish this without any downtime to existing clients? I was thinking something along these lines...
Build out a 2nd site/servers with Windows Server 2012 R2 and the correct server names running side-by-side with the current production SCCM site/servers.
Grant the new site's MP computer account permission to modify the System Management container in Active Directory. Will this have any impact on the production environment and existing clients?
Re-install the clients from the new site that is running 2012 R2 OS.
Decommission the old site that is running on 2008 R2 OS.

That will allow the new site to write information to the AD, if configured. That will only have an impact when you've got an overlap in the configured boundaries and you're using site assignment boundaries in combination with auto site assignment
of clients.
Also, if there is anything in the old environment that you would need in the new environment you can look at migrating those objects. See for more information:

How to generate site wise report for multiple sites running on single MDEX

Hi all,
I have single instance of MDEX 6.2 and Exprience Manager.
I have created some pages in workbench and set the specific trigger for all pages.
These pages are called from 2 different sites I have differentiated these 2 site by user profile. All is working fine for me.
But, Now I want to show the reports, right now the reports are displaying with combination of both sites result.
Is there anyway which I can display reports with site wise.

Hi Sunil,
You need to customize the reporting. You can log site specific parameter [for example site=abc/xyz] and then update the reporting to read and display reports site-wise.

Hi,
I have migrated the website assets ,created on site studio 10 g R4 to 11g R1,but I'm not able to see these assets when I'm trying to connect using site studio 11g and there is no error in the logs as well
Moreover the dynamic listing used doesn't show ant results on the page.
Has any one any similar issue?

What is the userid/password you used ? You should be using weblogic/weblogic1 as the combination if your site is deployed to the internal WLS of JDEV . Try this out and see .

For SharePoint audit log data, These data combine together in site collection. So there is no easy way to extract audit log data for document library.
As a workaround, you can export the site collection audit log data to a CSV file using PowerShell Command, then you can filter the document library audit log data in Excel.

Web gallery mod - htlm question

a poster has a couple of gallery variations. one has a Parent INDEX button that is supposed to return to the calling page. if this works, i would be able to combine iWeb front end stuff and Aperture galleries. it works on his site (with a custom first page).
when i do click on the field, i goes to another menu page in my .Mac Homepage space and not the iWeb page it is supposed to. this the code

Because I like changing things around on my site, 'Parent INDEX' actually links to .. (two dots) which just means it goes one directory higher in the web space. This means that each Aperture album I export is a self-contained subdirectory and can be renamed or moved around, and it'll always go up a directory in my web space when 'Parent INDEX' is clicked (no matter which domain name the web space is on).
I thought about linking it it '/' instead, but wasn't sure I would need to go more than one directory deep with my current stuff, and it could be a problem for people who want their images in a subdirectory of their main site, rather than on a totally different url.

Additional Templates

If you have Adobe Macromedia Contribute 3, you may not know that .Mac users have a plethora of templates. You can use one of these as either a starting place, design your entire site, or even combine iWeb and Contribute. Contribute was designed to work with the .Mac HomePage, and is still without peer if you want to continue to work on the HomePage section.
I haven't tried it yet, but one should be able to make the same connection to the iWeb site, and edit pages within Contribute. I was planning on trying it tonight to see if I get any weird effects.
