Combine rows of same value in to one row in sharepoint

I have a list with three columns and I have the same set of values in all the three rows.
column1  column2    total
a              a             1
a              a             1
a              a             1
I would like to concatenate and display this as the following in SharePoint 2010 list
column1  column2    total
a              a            3
how to create this functionality in SharePoint 2010?

Hi,
Have you consider of making use of SharePoint Designer workflow?
Assuming the situation is almost as you described in original post, we could set the condition as If value equals value, then update list item. As I tested in my environment, here are some suggestions:
Set the workflow start automatically when item is created but not changed. If it starts when the item is changed, it will run one more time since the original item is to be updated.
When we sum the value in total column, we could use intermediate variable, then do calculation, then update list item.
At the end of the workflow, delete the current item.

  • Master/Detail? Repeating Tables - Combine data from 2 repeating tables to one cell in sharepoint

Hi there, new to infopath.  I have 2 sections in my form which are hidden and display based on the department selected.  So Department A versus Department B, a section opens for details pertaining to that Department.  So in each
section I have similar information requirements, similar but not exactly the same.  Now I was able to create hidden fields that will concat the values from both sections in the instances of similar data (i.e. Name, Department location, etc, so if Department
A fills in Name on their section, then someone else submits the same form for Department B I still have one column of metadata in SP to displace the Name regardless of department or section they filled data into). However now I am stuck, I have repeating
tables in both sections and I want to concate the entries to output to the sharepoint list for that cell.  However everything I have tried so far only concats the 1st value in the repeating table.  Is there a way to take ALL of the data from
two repeating tables and merge them into one column/cell in sharepoint (metadata for the one form entry)???  I want to avoid having to create a excessive "views" of a list in order to accomodate the needs for BOTH departments.  I hope
this is clear.  Thanks for your help!

  • Combine rows based on column value

I'm trying to combine rows based off of a common value.
    Table Data:
    Result A
    Player_ID   Player_Name  Team_Name  Points Sequence
    99999       John Smith    Bulls              50         1
    99999       John Smith    Pistons          14         2
What i want in the output
    Result B
    Player_ID Player_Name Team_Name  Points
99999     John Smith      Bulls           64 (50 for Bulls)Here's my main query...
    select player_id, player_name, team_name, points
    from
              SELECT player_id, player_name, team_name, sum(points) sum_points
              FROM stats_data
              WHERE season_id = 2008
              AND points > 0
              GROUP BY player_id, player_name, team_name
              ) t
ORDER BY sum_points DESC, last_name;**The current query gives me the output from Result A
    1) Not entirely sure how to combine data based of player_id
    2) Once i figure out 1, im sure by adding the ('sum_points' for 'team_name') to the output can be done with a case statement, i think?

    Sorry about that Frank.
    Using: Oracle 10.2g
i was incorrect about the output of the query
              SELECT player_id, sum(points) sum_points
              FROM stats_data
              WHERE season_id = 2008
              AND points > 0
              GROUP BY player_id
    )Output
    Player_ID      Sum_Points
    99999              20
    55455               6
66489               2  So the subquery is outputing the correct data
The output of the original entire query(that you had posted) is:
    Player_ID    Player_Name   Team_Name    Points
99999        John Smith      Bulls               16 (8 for  Bulls)
55455        Bob Johnson    Rockets          6   (3 for Rockets)
66489        Chris Terry       Kings              2   (1 Kings)Here's some more raw sample data from the table:
    Player_ID    Player_Name   Team_Name    Points     Sequence  Game_Type_ID Team_ID
    99999        John Smith      Bulls               12          1                       1                  5
    99999        John Smith      Bulls               0            1                      -1                  5
    99999        John Smith      Pistons            4           2                       1                 12
    99999        John Smith      Pistons            0           2                       -1                12
    55455        Bob Johnson    Rockets          4           1                        1                  3
    55455        Bob Johnson    Rockets          0           1                       -1                  3
    66489        Chris Terry       Kings              2           1                        1                  8
66489        Chris Terry       Kings              0           1                       -1                  8So your code frank is very close, the issue is that:
    A) All players have a ('pt value' for 'team name') even if they played on the same team, which can prob. be solved with a case statement, which i tried to do in my last post.
    WITH       grouped_data     AS
              SELECT player_id, sum(points) sum_points
              FROM stats_data
              WHERE season_id = 2008
              AND points > 0
              GROUP BY player_id
    SELECT     g.player_id
    ,     s.player_name
    ,     s.team_name
    (case when sequence = 2 then g.sum_points  <==
         ||  '('
         ||  TO_CHAR (s.points)
         ||  ' for '
         ||  s.team_name
         || ')'
    else to_char (g.sum_points)
    END)     AS points
    FROM     grouped_data     g
    JOIN     stats_data     s     ON g.player_id     = s.player_id
    WHERE     s.sequence     in (1,2)     <==
    AND     s.season_id     = 2008
AND     s.points     > 0;the output has two issues, for players who played on more than one team, like Josh Smith the output comes out as
99999        John Smith      Pistons           20  (2 for Pistons)
99999        John Smith      Bulls               20While the players who played on one team came out correctly. So issue with my edit of your code is:
    A) josh smith is output 2, needs to be output once
B)josh smith should say (Josh Smith Bulls 20 (4 for Pistons) not "99999 John Smith Pistons 20 (2 for Pistons)"
    c) Issues with "99999 John Smith Pistons 20 (2 for Pistons)" is that it listing the wrong team for him: should be Bulls and listing half of his total with the pistons in the prentices should be 4. --The reason that is because s.points needs to be summed as based off of the data there's two entries
Hope this clears it up, thanks!

  • Need to concatonate multiple values for same key columns into one string

Hi...I'm attempting to use PL/SQL to read through a table containing more than one column value for a set of keys, and concatonate those values together into one string. For example, in the STUDENT table, for a STUDENT_ID there are multiple MAJORS_ACCOMPLISHED such as History, Biology and Mathematics. Each of the majors is stored in a different row with the same STUDENT_ID due to different faculty DEPARTMENT values.
I want to read through the table and write out a single row for the STUDENT_ID and
concatonate the values for MAJORS_ACCOMPLISHED. The next row should be another STUDENT_ID and the MAJORS ACCOMPLISHED for that student..etc.
I've hit a wall trying to use cursors and WHILE loops to get the results I want. I'm hoping someone may have run across this before and have a suggestion. Tks!!

I think you are looking for string aggregation.
The following are the replies posted by me in the forum recently on the same case.
    they might help you.

  • Retrieve the same value for all rows

    Hi Folks,
I am a newbie to Kodo JDO. I have a little but important problem. I use a
query to retrieve data with a simple filter like PName=='A'. Normally it
should retrieve 3 rows with 3 different values but it does not. Instead I
got 3 rows but with all the same value of one row???
Do I have a configuration problem?? Oh, I forgot, I use postgresql 8.0 on
    Windows...
    Thx a lot....
    Juergen

    Hi,
You may want to turn on the SQL log (use the kodo.Log property, and set
the SQL channel to TRACE... for more details on logging, check out
chapter 3 in the Kodo Ref Guide) and see what SQL is being generated.
Once you see the SQL, does it look right? If you run the generated SQL
in your SQL command line, do the results match what you expect? If that
doesn't help, maybe post the SQL and some info about your mapping.
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Qry return same value for a particular column for each row but not all time

    hi,
We recently migrated to Oracle Database 10.2.0.3.0 from 9i. We were using a sql to populate a table and it had been running fine. After migration the same sql is fetching / population incorrect values, but not everytime. If we run the same sql again it gives a correct result.
    Ex:
    insert into a1 ( col1, col2, col3 )
    select a.field1, b.field2, c.field
    from tab1 a, tab2 b, tab3 c
    where a.field = b.field
    and b.field (+) = c.field
something like this. Let us assume it fetches 200 rows
But sometimes the col1 has the same value for all the 200 rows and col2, col3 has correct values. If we run the same sql next time, the col1 fetches the correct value and everything is correct.
Could someone help on the above issue.

I know it's difficult but can you put together a small test case for us to reproduce this behaviour? Did you contact Oracle Support?
Any special constructs used behind the scenes? Virtual private database? Views?Materialized Views? Anything else?

  • About give from one query to other the same value of a variable

    Hi Gurus,
my problem is About give from one query to other the same value of a variable, i have a wad with a view, and this wad has some bottoms in javascript to go to anothers wad with charts, the problem is when i ran the query one, i put a value = calyear:2008 (Obligatory Variable), but when i click the bottom to go to the other query with the same variable, he ask me again a value,
i want write a value just one time, and the others wad can recieve the first value that i put when the wad opened.
    i really need it , thanks !

    Hello Jorge,
What you need here is Replacement path variable. Check out this link for more details:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/bd/589b3c494d8e15e10000000a114084/content.htm
In the second query where you need the value (calyear:2008 from first query) create a Variable for calyear of type Replacement path, in Replacement tab you can select either query or variable by which it has to replaced. In your case, it has to be variable from the first query.
Do let me know if this works. If this does not work I suggest you to use Web APIs to replace the variable values using Web APIs. Check out the details:

When I import my music files to iTunes will I be creating new files for every file I import? If the answer is YES; where are those files going to be stored and how much space will they use?
To begin with you can't manage FLAC in iTunes. The use of iTunes is at this moment limited to WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, AAC and MP3. But that's not a problem because if I understand you correctly you want to organize the MP3-files in iTunes.
When you import music files you can let iTunes copy all files and put it in an iTunes-media-Folder. You can make the choice in preferences-->tab advanced.
If you deselect the second blue checkbox (sorry, in Dutch) iTunes won't copy files as you import the files in your library. It will use the files from the place they are on the disk now. So you have a choice. But if you want iTunes to copy them, they will be placed in a folder called iTunesMedia. This is how it placed on your disk.
All files will be put in one music folder well ordered by artist and albums. If you want to make a backup of all your music you just have to copy the iTunes folder to another disk. You can backup all music at once. How much space they will use depends on the bitrate of the MP3 and whether you add more tagging to it. You can have iTunes add album artwork. That means adding gif or jpg files to your library. Are you using bitrate 320 for your MP3?
If you tell me I can give you estimates on the disk-space you will need.

  • Max two same value in one field

    Hi,
I have a project in hand. I can't figure out how to deal with
    it. I am not
very good at manual script. I can handle on my own, though.
My problem is I need check in the insert page if a certain
    value is in that
field two time. If so, I do not want the visitor to insert,
    and system to
warn the visitor to insert another value for the selected
    field.
For example, below, for the file code, if the
    visitor/operator inserts 314,
it should give error because there are two records whose
    file_code field
    containing 314.
    file_id filename file_code
    1 dummyname 225
    2 dummyname 314
    3 dummyname 225
    4 dummyname 314
    5 dummyname 532
    6 dummyname 756
    7 dummyname 225
    8 dummyname 987
    Thank you indeed
    Hakan

OK, just noticed that you want to allow two of the same
value, but no more than two.
In that case, before inserting , just perform a select count
using the attempted insert value in the where clause. If less than
2 allow the insert, otherwise display the error.

    ojdbc6.jar 11.1.0.7.0

    Thanks for the suggestion...
The problem is that in one row, information in a data dump about two different things was combined into one, due to a gap in the input file. The starting delimiter for the second thing and the ending delimiter for the first were missing. The result was that many entity tags that should have been unique were duplicated, ion that particular row.
I was able to guard the view against future such errors with occurrences using this
    in the WHERE clause ...
AND NOT ( XMLCLOB LIKE '%<TAG1>%<TAG1>%'
    OR XMLCLOB LIKE '%<TAG2>%<TAG2>%'
    OR XMLCLOB LIKE '%<TAG3>%<TAG3>%'
/* ... Repeated once for each tag used with extractvalue */
    OR XMLCLOB LIKE '%<TAGN>%<TAGN>%'
It filters out any row with two identical starting tags, where one is expected.
I am pleased to see that the suggestion got through.

  • Updating PK with same value - effect on CASCADE UPDATE

    Hello,
I would like to understand how sql server 2008 deals with cascade updates
    For example I have
Parent table: Employee with column Id as varchar(20) primary key
Child table with IdEmployee as varchar(20) foreign key
I set up Cascade Update for those two tables, meaning any change to primary key in Employee table will cause update in child table rows that match affecting Id
    Scenario 1:
    Update Employee
    set Id = 'ABC',
    Name = 'something new'
    where Id = 'CCC'
Result of child table: all rows with foreign key IdEmployee and value of 'CCC' are updated. Expected behavior.
    Scenario 2:
    Update Employee
    set Id = 'ABC',
    Name = 'something new 2'
    where Id = 'ABC'
This time, i am doing something different. I am beside update of column Name with new value, also update primary key but
    with SAME value
Question is: what is going to happen to child rows? Are they ALL going to UPDATE due to CASCADE UPDATE
So far, what i did in order to find solution is:
    1. I put an timestamp column in child table that should update each time row gets updated
    2. I put a trigger for update event on child table that will write something to some log table
*After I set up those two I ran example like above just to be sure timestamp gets changed as well trigger is being fired
Results of updating PK with same value:
    1. Timestamp didnt change
    2. Trigger didnt fire
Is this enough to make conclusion that updating primary key with same value ALONG with updating some other columns won't
affect child tables with UPDATE CASCADE ON
    Update:
    Database is CI AS collation
    If i do following
    Update Employee
    set Id = 'abc',
    Name = 'something new'
    where Id = 'ABC'
    1. Timestamp will change
    2. Trigger will fire
Conclusion: Case sensitive is important here!
Thank you very much in advance
    Milos

    >>  would like to understand how sql server 2008 deals with cascade updates <<
Your posting has a number of conceptual errors.
    1. The terms “parent” and “child” are not RDBMS; they are used in network databases. We have “referenced” and “referencing” tables; they can be the same table.
    2. A table models a SET of things, so there is no “Employee” table unless you truly have a one-man company. We want a collective or plural name for the SET/table. A better name is “Personnel” for this table.
    3. Her is no such thing as a generic “id” in RDBMS; it has to be “<something in particular>_id” to be valid. Identifiers are usually fixed length
    4. It is very, very rude not to post DDL on a forum. You also do not know the ISO-11179 Rules for data element names. They do not change names from table to table! Does your name change whenever you use it in a new place?? NO! Same principle with data.
    5. The ISO standard uses “<property>_<attribute property>” syntax, no the old PascalCase.
    6. Why did you post a useless narrative? How do we compile “I SET up Cascade UPDATE for those two tables,..” to test it??
    CREATE TABLE Personnel
(emp_id CHAR(20) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     emp_name VARCHAR(25) NOT NULL,
    CREATE TABLE Health_Plan
(health_plan_acct CHAR(20) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     emp_id CHAR(20) NOT NULL
     REFERENCES Personnel(emp_id)
     ON UPDATE CASCADE
     ON DELETE CASCADE,
    Scenario 1:
    UPDATE Personnel
       SET emp_id = 'ABC',
           emp_name = 'something new'
     WHERE emp_id = 'CCC';
Result of child table: all rows with foreign key emp_id and value of 'CCC' are updated. Expected behavior.
    Scenario 2:
    UPDATE Personnel
       SET emp_id = 'ABC',
           emp_name = 'something new 2'
     WHERE emp_id = 'ABC';
This time, I am doing something different. I am beside UPDATE of column emp_name with new value, also UPDATE PRIMARY KEY but
    with SAME value.
    >> Question is: what is going to happen to child [sic: referencing]  rows? Are they ALL going to UPDATE due to CASCADE UPDATE. <<
SQL uses a set-oriented model, so the whole table is updated as a unit of work in theory.
So far, what I did in order to find solution is:
    >> I put an timestamp column in child [sic: referencing] table that should UPDATE each time row gets updated <<
Why? It is not in the SET clause list; it cannot change. As an aside,  The T-SQL TIMESTAMP is not the ANSI/ISO TIMESTAMP; it is DATETIME2(n) in T-SQL. The old TIMESTAMP is being deprecated because it stinks both in concept and implementation.
    >> I put a trigger for UPDATE event on child [sic: referencing] table that will write something to some log table.<<
TRIGGERs are fired by what is called a “database event” shown in the ON [DELETE | UPDATE] clause. T-SQL adds INSERT as an event. An update to any value or to no value at all is still an update. Depending on the collation, case may or may not matter in the final
    outcome.

  • Is it possible to store a multiple indexes for the same value extractor?

I ran into a situation where there were different queries that I was interested in doing that might have benefitted from having several indexes, sorted differently, but for the same ValueExtractor() instance.
Is this good practice, is it recommended, and is there a clean way to do it? It seemed like the only way I could logically "trick" the system into it would be passing some sort of "query type" constant into the ValueExtractor when it was created, and then making the equals and hashCode() methods on the ValueExtractor delegate to the constant for equality, but this seemed like a massive hack.

    Hi Kris,
First, try without each value extractor and see how the different queries compare in performance. You may find that you need only one. If you find otherwise, please let us know because it may indicate a good area for additional optimizations.
Second, you are correct that the value extractor is the key of the index, and thus to have two indexes on the same value, you will need two different value extractors (i.e. the hashcode/equals comment you made.)
