Combined Acrobat file - scanned PDF wrongly gets landscape orientation

Online subscription Acrobat - when combining files, a scanned portrait-orientation PDF file is reformatted to landscape orientation, clipping contents at the bottom of the page. Is this a bug, or can I fix this?
Frode

One solution was to take the scanned PDF, open it in Reader, and "Print-to-PDF" it again but selecting Landscape orientation instead of automatic orientation.

  • Combine ppt files into pdf - picture issue

    Hello All,
we are trying to combine several ppt files into one pdf document . Joining process went correctly, but some pictures in the final pdf are broken. If we try to save separate file to pdf, there is no issue. This issue is visible only during marging several ppts files into pdf. Please, do somebody know, where shoold be a problem ? (Office 2013, Adobe Acrobat XI)
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Peter

    Hi Peter Drgon,
One possible solution would be to replace the broken images of the combined pdf with original ones.
You can select the particular broken images from your ppt file and convert them to pdf,
then import that image containing pdf into your combined pdf file and later you can use 'edit text and images' tools to replace the broken Image in your combined pdf file.
Does that help? If you face any challenges or if i have misinterpreted your issue. Please let me know.
    Regards,

  • Adobe Acrobat File vs PDF File

I have 15 computers that are all exactly the same, same hardware and Windows image. These are an upgrade from older systems.
When trying to save a Word document as a PDF, an error message comes up saying there is no program associated with that file, which never happened with the old computers. So after trying to research the issue, nothing helpful really came up. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Adobe Reader and it seemed to fix the issue, but only on one of the computers. I looked into the default program associations in Windows, and realised that there was a difference between the working computer and the others. On the working computer, .pdf files are described as an "Adobe Acrobat Document" whereas on the non-working computers it is described as a "PDF File".
    Working
    Non-Working
I had also realised beforehand that the icons for .pdfs were different as well on the new computers, but I didn't think much of it until this issue came up. This is the same document on a USB drive but plugged into the different computers.
All I did to fix the new computer was re-install Reader and it works, so I'm not sure why it didn't on any of the others. I even tried repairing Reader and that didn't do anything. I used the same install file for all of them as well, the latest version right from the Adobe site (AdbeRdr11009_en_US.exe)
I'm fairly lost now after not finding any information on this issue online, so now I come to the forums for help.

So I finally got this fixed today, and documented all my steps. I had checked the registry using regedit first, and the entries seemed the same for the computers, but it does still seem to be a registry issue. I had checked the .pdf entry and the AcroExch ones and they seemed fine. The "pdf_auto_file" seems to be the cause of the issue.
    1) I used the "Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool" that Pat Willener linked above.
    2) Run CCleaner registry cleaner. The first time you run it, it should have this:
    Open with Application Issue    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" "%1"    HKCR\pdf_auto_file\shell\Read
Run it again after that and it should have this one:
Invalid or empty file class    pdf_auto_file    HKCR\pdf_auto_file
You can run it again if you want and it will have this, but you can also just open a .pdf after installing Reader and choose Reader as the default program:
    Unused File Extension    .pdf - pdf_auto_file    HKCR\.pdf
I ran the regular CCleaner cleanup as well, but I don't think it's necessary. Still a good thing to do anyways though.
    3) Install Reader, easy enough.
It should work fine after this. I noticed that after restarting the desktop and start menu icons were gone, so just running the install again as an update puts in back in the start menu where you can make a desktop icon again if you need.
Thanks for the help Pat Willener and Bernd Alheit

  • Why when I save an Illustrator CC file as PDF, I get a blank PDF file?

Hello - I recently migrated to Illustrator CC and have a problem saving my files as PDF. When I save as PDF, a blank file is created, that tells me the following message: "Questo le Adobe® Illustrator® è stato salvato senza contenuto PDF. Per inserirlo o aprirlo in altre applicazioni, occorre salvarlo di nuovo da Adobe Illustrator con l'opzione Crea le compatibile con formato PDF attivata. Questa opzione si trova nella nestra di dialogo per il formato Illustrator nativo, quando si salva un le Adobe Illustrator con il comando Salva con nome." that in english would be something like: "This AI file has been saved without PDF content. In order to import it or open it with other applications, you must save it again from AI checking the "create PDF compatible format". This option is in the dialog panel for native AI format...". I have always saved as PDF for the printer when I used previous AI versions with no problem, but now the same file gives me this problem with AI CC. I tried to save as PDF other new files, but the result is always the same, whatever file - whatever PDF settings I choose - whatever name I give - whatever way I save the AI file (with or without the PDF compatible file option). Can somebody help me? Thanks!

    John,
You may try the following list, or it may be one for Creative Cloud support (all Creative Cloud customer service issues),
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service-ccm.html
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Using PhotoShop CC v2014.1.0 I can't save files as PDFs - I get a program error

I have tried a couple of different files now. In the past I could save my files as PDF copies, but just recently it has been generating errors. I thought the first one was due to the size of the file but I just tried it again on a small file with the same "program error".

So the question then becomes, what do the files that won't save as PDF have in common but at the same time they don't share with other files.
And when I said that a font would cause the issue, this was in regards to using a specific font. Generally one that is corrupt in some fashion or was poorly created. First, try the steps here: Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CC, CS6, CS5

  • Combine .ps files using PDF Generator

    Hi all,
Right now we are using the Livecycle to combine the PDF's to printer, this process was successfully running.
We got a mail from printer saying that there is repetation of same fonts name displayed in the combine pdf, that need to resolve.
We have used "RunFlex" option in acrobat professional version to distill the .ps to combine PDF file, this was working fine.
I need to configure a process to combine the .ps file.
I configured the PDF's using the "invoke" option.
    Please advice.

The attached process is as follows:
It uses PDF Generator > Distiller > Create PDF to generate two PDFs from two .ps files, uses Assembler to merge the PDFs into a single PDF and extracts the assembled PDF from the AssemblerResult object.

  • Combine supported files in acrobat missing in acrobat x pro when I right click drop down menu

combine supported files in acrobat missing in adobe x pro when I right click drop down menu also Convert to Adobe PDF is missing too.  The open with & share with options are gone too when I right click files.  My computer crashed & I had to have the motherboard replaced.  The tech store put some of my programs back on my compter but not sure how or if they did stuff correctly.  Need help fixing my problem becasue I use this all the time.  Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I got a new PC, insalled Acrobat X pro and when I right click on an Office file, I could not combine or convert Office files to PDF. I upgraded to Acrobat XI and still no fix. I triled to convert or combine office files to PDF from within Acrobat and I get an error message saying "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF Portfolio option".
I've tried to convert or combine Office 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 files and none work. The weird thing is that the option shows up for Excel .csv files. Even more werid is that I have the PDF tabs showing in the Office applications.
I contacted Adobe support via chat and they were unable to help. I was directed here, so any help would be great.
    Thanks.

  • Combine Files into PDF

    Hello,
I've recently restored my computer to factory settings and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.10) as well as Microsoft Office 2010. My system is Windows 8.1.
When I try to combine .docx or .xlsx files to pdf, I get the error message:
'Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF Portfolio option.'
This issue does not occur when I save the individual files to pdf from the Word or Excel program, then combine the pdfs into a single file. However, I would prefer not to have to convert the files manually due to the large volume of files.
What I also don't understand is why the function used to work perfectly fine, but not anymore.
    (Actions Taken)
    - Verified Adobe plugin enabled in Microsoft Office
    - Verified registry entries for the file extensions
    - Repaired Acrobat and Microsoft Office

    Hi ,
Did you try a repair for your Acrobat ,if not ,please run a repair for your Acrobat and see the outcome .
I wonder the files you are trying to combine are not corrupt by any chance .This could also be one of the reasons you are getting that error message .
Is it happening for some specific set of files or all the files you are trying to combine ?
Please provide us with the mentioned details so that we can analyse at our end and update you with an appropriate solution .
It would be great if you could share few sample files with us in order for us to check them .
If possible please share the files on [email protected]

  • Export Keynote files as pdf

I've just updated Keynote 5 1 1. When I export a keynote file as PDF I get the PDF slides in wich the date of creation showed. how can I avoid this feature?

I can't remember if this is possible or not as I don't have a Mac available to check, but…
You can add a folder to the PDF Services menu by adding an alias to your Dropbox folder in the PDF Services folder in your Library. That folder will show up in the PDF popup menu in the print dialog.
Then, try to create an Application Shortcut with the name that shows up in the PDF popup menu.
You'd then have to Cmd-P to bring up the dialog, then type the shortcut you made for the PDF menu item.
The first part has worked in the past, but I'm not sure where the PDF Services are stored in Mavericks.
The second part, creating the shortcut to the PDF Services menu, I only think works. I vaguely remember reading that it can be done, but as I stated earlier, I don't have a Mac available right now to verify.
As an alternative, you might be able to create an Automator Service that gets the selected message, converts it to pdf, and saves it into your Dropbox folder. Without a Mac, I don't think I can effectively describe how to build that. If you haven't got this solved in the next couple of weeks, I might be able to work out the Automator method.

  • Can't export file as pdf?

trying to export idd cs6 file as pdf and get message "cannot save to the file... you may not have permission or the file may be in use.  I tried closing the idd file but then cannot save -- catch 22!!!

In a situation where you cannot save the file and close it you can try and export to .idml (see Remove minor corruption by exporting) and if that also is unsuccessful, try a force quit on ID, then restart ID and hope the autorecovery works. You really haven't got anything left to lose at that point, and you have some chance for recovery on the force quit where cloing without saving loses all your changes.

  • Error Message when Combining Files to PDF in Acrobat XI-Pro

    Hi!
I am trying to combine multiple CAD files to PDF and keep encountering an error message.
I'm using the Combine Files to PDF, dragging in the corresponding files (.DWG files) into Acrobat and then clicking the Combine button. They convert to PDF but a dialog box immediately pops up:
As I'm the person creating the .pdf document and am using Acrobat XI-Pro to do so, what am I doing wrong to continue to receive this message?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi TTownWriter,
Try creating a combined file as follows :
    - Open one of the files .
    - Open thumbnail pane of the file via Left hand tools pane .
    - Go to options and Insert the second(or subsequent) files to the opened file using "Insert Pages" menu option.
    - Save the file.
    Refer the screenshot.

  • Acrobat X Pro lagging/never finishing while combining files into pdf?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to complete the simple task of combining multiple word documents into one pdf.  Since my ultimate product will be very long, I tried to do a test with 2 very small size (text only) word documents.  Even this TEST failed to combine -- acrobat hung while "converting" the first file, even after waiting 15+ minutes. How long does this process take?? What am I doing wrong?

    Somethings to try:
If not already done ensure all available Acrobat X updates are done.
Open the MS Word files and output PDF from each.
Then open Acrobat X Pro and use the Combine feature to aggregate the PDF files.
    Be well...
