Combined pdf random order

I have tried to combine several PDFs into one using the combine menu option but the result is a random order of the files. I have done this several times and the result is different every time with a different order and number of pages. I have used the same files each time. I have adobe acrobat 9 pro extended.

  • When converting multiple word and excel docs to a combined PDF random pages have blue background in the finalized PDF.

I have a user using Acrobat 10. It was installed two weeks ago and initially had no problems. Today she reported that when she tries to convert multiple word and excel docs by selecting them, and right clicking on them to select convert/combine to PDF, random pages in the finished PDF have a blue background. I did some searching online and can find no information about this problem. Can anyone here shed some light on this issue and maybe point me in the direction of a solution? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Gilad,
So, something I didn't consider was that this could be a setting in the office docs. The reason I didn't consider this was be cause we tested multiple docs and had similar results each time. I went back and looked into this possibility and found a setting in word that was causing this issue. Although the word doc showed no page color when opened in word, if I went to "Page Layout" -> "Page Color", a shade of blue was selected. By selecting "No Color", and then converting/combining the docs to PDF we got the desired result. Thanks again for your reply!

  • Merge and Combine PDF files in a numerical order

    Greetings!
I'm using Adobe Acrobat to create a photo LookBook or an eBook. I'm importing and merging straight from .JPEG's and Acrobat work's great. The JPEG's are sorted by capture date, renamed and numbered as such: "10_File.Name.jpg". However, once I attempt to merge over 100 files I noticed that the numerical order of the file names is wrong. You'll notice in the example below that when viewed by name, the three digit numbers begin after 10. Well, in this example it's twelve. This affects to page order of the combined .PDF file. How can I maintain consistent name order to avoid assembling the finished ebook by implementing two workflow steps. Meaning the first step to combine the double digit numbers, then the second step to combine the three digit numbers. What can I do to resolve this issue?
    Greatly appreciated!

    Try it with a leading zero ( 003_, 007_, 008_, 010_, 011_, and 012_ ).

  • Lightroom 3 pdf slideshow not in random order

I have attempted several times to setup a slideshow in random order that repeats. The preview works fine but on other machines (Windows mainly) the adobe reader does not display the pdf slideshow in random order nor will it repeat when these preferences are selected in Lightroom 3.
You can work around the repeat issue but I can not find a solution for the random order. Any suggestions.

PDF slideshow is not supposed to be random.

  • Trying to create a "Combine PDF" that also has a "save as" dialog box

I am able to get the Combine PDF to work but it just saves them as randomly named files on the desktop that I then need to rename manually. Is there some way to make a "save as" dialog box pop up after combining the files? So if I had a bunch of PDFs it would go:
Right Click on selected files > Automator > Combine PDF > Save As
    Is this possible?

    Set up you worflow as:
    Get Selected Finder Items
    Combine PDF Pages
    Open Images in Preview
    Run Applescript
+copy this into the Applescript box+
    tell app "System Events"
    keystroke "s" using {command down, shift down}
    keystroke "d" using {command down}
    end tell
I also like to add a Sort Finder Items after the Get Selected Finder Items.

  • Getting File Name in Automator workflow - combine PDF

I am using Automator to combine 2 PDF files.
I would like to inherit one of the file names in the new PDF and append a standard text to the front of the file name.
I am not sure how to do this. I can combine the PDFs the way I would like, but I am not sure how to plick the file name.
    my workflow is as follows.
Folder Action targets folder where 1st PDF is added(I want this FILE NAME).
Ger Specified finder item selects 2nd PDF to be combined.
Sort Finder Items makes sure the new PDF pages are ordered properly.
Combine PDF Pages combines the pages.
Move Finder Items saves the files where i want it.
Name single item is whre i thought to add my standard text plus the variable of FILE NAME.
Open File in mail to set up my email.
    Anyone can help with this?
    thanks,
    Aaron

Here is an automator workflow that does something similar so I believe you can adapt to your needs.  This workflow is setup as a service workflow. It will combine PDFs in the order in which they are selected/clicked via the Shift key.  The default name of the combined output file will be the name of the first file clicked.  Automator can be activated by CTRL clicking any of the selected PDFs.
    1. Service receives PDF files in Finder
    2. Automator Action: Run AppleScript
    on run {input, parameters}
display dialog "Files will be combined in the order selected via the Shift key" as text
              return input
    end run
3.. Automator Action: Trim input items
    keep the first one
you will need to download and install this autotmator action from here:
    http://www.menace-enterprises.com/Files/Automator/Actions/Trim%20Input%20Items.d mg
    4.  Automator Action: Run AppleScript
    (* Note & Definitions
This Applescript extracts the basename of the first selected file without its .pdf extension
"path_basename_ext" is full path and name, e.g. User/desktop/file.pdf
"NmExt" is filename with extension, e.g. file.pdf
"baseName" is the base filename without extension, e.g. file
"Ext" is the file's extension, e.g. pdf
    on run {input, parameters}
              set path_basename_ext to input
              tell (info for path_basename_ext) to set {NmExt, Ext} to {name, name extension}
set baseName to text 1 thru ((get offset of "." & Ext in NmExt) - 1) of NmExt
      baseName
              return baseName
    end run
    5.  Automator Action: Set Value of Variable
    define baseName as the variable
    6.  Automator Action: Get selected finder items
    Options: check ignore input
    7. Automator Action: Combine PDF pages
    choose Combine by appending
    8. Automator Action: Move Finder Items
    choose To: Desktop
Options: check show this action when workflow runs
    9. Name Single Items
    choose Basename only to: baseName
Options: check show this action when workflow runs
    10. Open Finder Items

  • When combining PDFs Acrobat XI Pro crashes. It manages to save the newly created document but the resulting crash is really frustrating. Any input would be welcome, thanks!

Just as the post said, I have a user that frequently combines PDFs. When she tries to combine documents, it crashes, although it does save the new document.
The crash takes away from her productivity and she isn't pleased as this was also happening with Acrobat 9 Pro that we just upgraded from. Any ideas on why
this is occurring would be most welcome. Thanks!

Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

  • Random order of adverts in inDesign document

    Hi!
I have a monthly publication with about 18 pages of adverts with two to 6 adverts on each page. Every month I have to randomly change the order to make sure sometimes people are towards the fropnt, sometimes near the back. Is there any plugin or way to automate the process and randomly change the order of the advert groups?
    Cheers,
    Matt

Put the photos in an album and manually sort them in as a random order as you can. The in your iDVD project, create a slideshow, enter the slideshow mode and under the Media pane, select that album and drag it into the sideshow window at the left. The order will be the same that you created in the album.
Or, if you click on the album and use the Share->Send to iDVD the order will be the same as the album.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Slideshow random order

I wanted to generate a quick slideshow to run on another computer. I want random order, so I made sure that box was checked. It looks fine on my local computer, but the PDF it generates does not use a random order. There also aren't any random order web galleries that I could use.
I did find a horrible workaround where I exported all the files to a work directory, made a slideshow with PSE6 in random order, then used premiere elements to burn a DVD. Way too much work for something that i could have just used the PDF for...
Any ideas how to make that easier?

type random in the search and your first response does a good job of answering it

  • Sorting files when combining pdfs?

Ok, I'm not quite sure how adobe sorts files when combining pdfs, but it seems to be somehow different from MS XP.  Anyway, what I want to do is combine a bunch of pdfs together which are labelled A 1, A 2, A 3... However, I'm finding that when sorting them by name in adobe to combine them in the right order that the 1's, 2's, and 3's get grouped together, where they are then not sorted numerically.  For instance A 2 gets sorted with A 20 and A 200.  Even when I use MS XP to rename (e.g. A (1), A (2)) or use Adobe to extract files from a pdf the files are named in such a way that this always happens.  Anyway to get around this without manually sorting the files?
A better example of what happens:
    A 1
    A 10
    A 11
    A 12
    A 13
    A 14
    A 15
    A 16
    A 17
    A 18
    A 19
    A 100
    A 2
    A 20
    A 21
    A 22
    A 23
    A 24
    A 25
and so on and so forth... where I would like
    A 1
    A 2
    A 3
    A 4
    A 5...

Looks like a lexicographic ("dictionary" or "telephone book,") order and not numeric order. You could add leading zeros to have all the file names have the same length.

  • Files open/copy in random order

I often work with multiple numbered files that I need to keep in order however I find when opening them, or copying them either locally or across a network they will open/copy in a random order.
For instance, if I have 12 single page pdf files I'd like to open, selecting them all and double clicking on them will give me a jumbled mess in Adobe Acrobat (preview opens them in numerical order though), If I drag them into my automated renaming tool (R name) they come in out of order, or when copying them to another server across our network then arrive in a random order.
We have this issue on several computer in several locations all running OS X 10.4.11, however one computer seems to copy/open files in the correct order. Is there a setting somewhere or terminal command I can run to get OS X to handle files the way I want, what am I missing?

There are three workarounds you can use for this annoying issue:
    1. Use column view instead of list view.
    2. Select your files in the open dialog box instead.
    3. Open files using Adobe Bridge Instead.
We just wrote this up as a tip in our weekly tips blog:

  • How to combine pdf pages into a single pdf document

I´ve done this before but I forgot. Can anyone help me?

    Hi profesora.2014.2015,
Adobe Reader is a free trusted standard for reliably viewing, printing, and annotating PDF documents. It’s the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all types of PDF content, including forms and multimedia.
In order to combine PDF pages into a single PDF file, you need to either use Adobe Acrobat (Merging and combining PDF files | Acrobat XI - Adobe India) or Adobe PDF pack (Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack).

  • Photos: Random-order slideshow; how?

In iPhoto a valuable feature was a slideshow in random order. How is this done in Photos?

    Petersit:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you selecting an album and then using the Play button in the bottom toolbar? If so, then in the Setting window there's a checkbox, checked by default, setting the order to random. Uncheck it.

  • Script to renumber links in random order

I have chapter 1 page with 50 small photos in a very orthodox and symmetric grid that I should repeat in a different random order for other chapters.
Links have a numbered logical syntax like:
    pict1.tif
    pict2.tif
    etc.
For the chapter 2, the idea is repeat the first one but in a random order. Same photos, same layout, different order.
Perhaps a script could rename the links?
Thus, once the folder is duplicated I will have a second folder:
picture 1.tif is now, for example, pict45.tif
    picture2.tif.is now, for example, pict13.tif
    etc.
IF I relink a copy of chapter 1 to this second folder perhaps the idea could be solved.

    Jarek, hi.
It works when it is only ONE picture by page.
But, with many pictures in the page, as in the example, the script is dead.
    (no error at all)
I have six pages with the same grid of pictures repeated in a file.
The idea is that in p. 2, 3, etc, the script alters the order in random to have different positions.
Tried different combinations but were useless.
    Thanks.
PD. The screenshots show the script working with single images.

  • Need to custom combine PDF - use a script?

I would like to make various booklets from a folder containing many pdfs.  If I use a script, the script would have to read an input file and arrange the order and the output bound pdfs.  I would also like to run the script from within a portfolio, is that possible?
    TIA
    j

I'm not sure what you mean by running the script from a portfolio, but I've
created a script that reads a text file with file paths and then combines
those paths into a new file. See here:
