Combining 1080i & 1080p into a project

My canon camcorder shoots 1080i but my DSLR, iPhone and point and shoot capture at 1080p. How does Final Cut Pro X handle these two different footage types? Will the 1080i footage force me to lower the quality of my 1080p footage if combining the two? I realize 1080i means interlaced and 1080p means progressive, I'm just not sure how the two work when placed in the same project.
Ultimately, should I return my camcorder to get one that shoots in 1080p natively?

Yes, interlaced was useful for analogue television, but on modern systems it serves no purpose, and often causes problems.
Deinterlacing is a rather complicated process (even thought it seems to happen magically as an FCX background process), so it ends up being either not great quality or requiring a lot of processing. The best deinterlacing I know is Compressor's frame controls (Best Quality). Avoid the whole issue and shoot progressive!

I would like to combine various projets into one project is the possible.

    Hello Tom,
I have tried to copy and paste the two projects, both in the project library and in the timeline.  In the timeline the paste option is not highlighted and paste does not work.  In the project library I highlighted the project and copied the project, but I was unable to paste into the other project.  Is this done in the project library?  The paste option is hightlight but each time I paste it does not work.
    Thanks for your help

  • How do I combine two regents into one in Logic Pro Arrange?

how do I combine two regents into one in Logic Pro Arrange?

Thanks for your input kcstudio. I would still be left with 2 regions although one after the other, on one track.
I am trying to save steps of the way I am combining the info of 2 seperate regions into one: bouncing the 2 tracks then re-importing that audio back into the project. It would save a lot of time if you could just drag one region on top of the other

  • Can I copy an entire event into a project?

This is day 2 with my new iMac after starting with Apple II 30 years ago and working with MS products for 25 years, so go easy on me.
I have a Canon HV20 HD Camcorder (DV tape-based) and it imports easily into iMovie 08. Of course, if I have an hour of video, I get a TON of clips in my new Event. At this very moment, my concern is to empty the tapes onto the computer and have something that can be watched even without editing.
Is there any way to move the entire event into a project which can be burned to a DVD or watched as-is? (As opposed to selecting each clip and dragging it into the project.) Or should I just leave it down in the event area, since, as I am just finding out, it cannot be cleaned out because that is where the actual video resides.
I am not an editing freak, so mainly my movies are just video snapshots to be viewed casually at some distant point in the future.
Also, is there a really simple way to dump a project onto a DVD (remember I am recording in 1080i) so that it can be watched on an HDTV? Do I need Blu-Ray or HD-DVD to do this???
BTW, a salesperson at B&H Photo in NYC recommended for me to get tape (I hate tape!) since it would be a better way to edit and save, and WOW, he was right!!!
    Randy

There is an easy way to move your movies onto DVD, subject only to the capacity of the DVD. In iDVD, there is an option for One-Step DVDs, that creates a DVD of exactly what is on your tape. It is an option that comes up when you start iDVD.
The problem you may encounter is that blank DVDs hold a relatively small amount of video, so if you're recording in 1080i, you might not be able to put much onto an individual DVD. I'm not aware of any Blu-Ray or HD-DVD burners that work on a Mac, but I have to confess I've not looked into them.

  • Combine multiple jars into one product jar

    Hi everybody,
I use multiple third party jar APIs in my applet project. When I built the project, I get one product jar and the other jars in LIB folder. I am wanna produce only one jar including other jars inside. I use netbeans.
Shortly How can I combine all jars into one jar ?
    Thanks...

    woaw, Got it: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/javase/single-jar-141905.html
Other jars were signed jars in project. Now, I got only only one jar and unsigned.
If I sign this unique jar, will I see a problem ?

  • How to combine video clips into one video clip using FCPX

I typed this into the search engine but could not come up with anything. How do you combine Video clips into one Video clip using FCPX? Thanks in advance.
    Gar

The simple answer is to put the clips together in a project in the desired order and export (oops, the new word is share [YUK!]) a master file.
But maybe you should say a little more about the clips to determine whether the answer I've given is relevant to yor situation.

  • How to combine movie clips into one?

In one Aperture project I have 5 short (under 1 min) movie clips that I would like to combine into one "movie", and would like to know the quickest and easiest way to do this.  I am not interested in any editing other than combining the clips into one.  Thanks!

In Aperture the only way to combine movie clips is to create a basic slideshow, but you will get better results (stabilization, effects, etc) in iMovie or Quicktime 7, if you have it.
    In Aperture:
Create a slideshow with the "Classic" theme: Select the two video clips in the Browser and use:   File >New > Slideshow
Set the Default Slideshow settings (Transitions, Text, background) as you like them.
Arrange the clips in the Time Line in the order as you want them.
Press the "Export" button in the upper right corner to export a new video. Reimport it to Aperture.

  • I have photos I want to group together in one album, but can't do this because some may have the same number. How can I combine them all into one album?

I have photos I want to group together in one album, but can't do this because some may have the same number. How can I combine them all into one album? I was trying to move several albums onto a USB drive and it stated all other files exist at this location.  They are pictures taken at different times and have the same number I guess.

In iPhoto albums may contain photos with the same file name - iPhoto handles that just fine
If you are exporting them to move somewhere else use the sequential file name feature of export to give each file a unique name

  • Help with getting Events into a Project please

I apologize if this topics been covered here or somewhere else on the Apple website(s), but I cannot get my Events into a Project in iMovie. I've read the directions, watched the videos, and looked at these pages but can't seem to find an answer. At this point, all I want to do is download video from my camcorder to save it and edit later (when I have more time). I managed to download video from several events from the flash drive on my Canon Vixia HF11 and it appears in the Events library. I can play it and select clips without difficulty. I tried to select all the Events (all together and separately) to move to a project (after opening a new project), but the cursor bounces back. It will allow me to select clips but this is very cumbersome and time consuming and I don't want to edit now - I want to save all the video. The "add to project" button doesn't work. Am I missing something? There must be some way to select ALL the video in all the Events I've downloaded to put into one project. BTW, we're only talking about 40 minutes of video. If possible, please post screen shots so that I can see exactly what to do. Any help is much appreciated.

    no, not avail.
and 'off'-concept of that tiny edit-app:
when you import, you create a Library of all footage.
iM will split these videos (by date) into seperate 'Folders' = Events.
the idea of iM is, to offer you this Library to create a SELECTION of it for any given Project. there are very rare cases I can imagine, you add ALL material of one Event into one Project (in the Event Window hit apple-a), even a Lecture allows to edit here&there.
but adding all material from any imports into one Project? no. no need = no feature.

How do i combine single pages into documents with Adobe?

    Hi zebideeplus,
Using Reader, you need to purchase subscription for Adobe PDF Pack  to combine PDF files into single document.
Refer: Acrobat.com Help | Adobe PDF Pack FAQ
But, if you need to combine single pages, then it can be done with Adobe Acrobat only.
Let me know if you have further queries.

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
    1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
    2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
    3. Go to
    Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
    Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

  • Hiding filenames when combining multiple files into a single .pdf

I'm fairly new to this Acrobat X. I'm trying to assemble my portfolio to distribute to employers but I cannot seem to get rid/hide the filenames in the final pdf file. I was using the option to 'combine multiple files into a single pdf' because I was compiling images and documents to a single readable pdf file. I got all that done but once I open it, I'd see that each page would still contain the original file names rather than page numbers - which I prefer not to have employers see for the sake of tidiness (and I refuse to use the Adobe portfolio because it's not really efficient on space or design. I prefer a simple page-by-page pdf). So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to hide my file names, change them into page numbers or getting rid of them all together so the 'Table of Contents' in the pdf preview mode would not show anything, I would really much appreciate it.
    -Ss

Well, when the .pdf is in the final, deliverable form; I open it in Mac preview mode and the sidebar is always extended showing a 'table of contents' rather than having each document in the pdf file have a number designating a page name, it shows each individual filename the pdf is composed of. Not too sure about bookmark, though. Thanks for the reply!
If you want, I can send the file to you.

  • Combining multiple lists into a single list

    Hi,
I have created 5 different lists within the same sharepoint site. These lists have some common fields among them for example each list has same fields such as "Country", "Unit", "Review Name" etc. I now want to create a single
list that will have show only the common fields present in each list. Could you please advise if this can be done and if so how?
    Thanks, Aarti

To have a full fledged synchronization between 5 lists will be very complicated.
If the 6th list is a read-only / view only, I would recommend you to create Lists 1, 2,3,4 and 5 as a custom content type.
Then you can put a Content Query Web Part that filters out your custom content type and combines the content from the three lists.
or create a  workflow to update the data when new item is added in other lists

  • How to add a project into master project by Powershell

How to add a master project and sub-projects powershell
I use project server 2013, I want inserting multiple sub-project plans into a project master

    Hello,
You can't do this directly in PowerShell using the PSI etc. as the PSI can't create master projects / insert subprojects. You could however do this in VBA if required or automate Project using PowerShell COM object.
