Combining 2 shapes in Photoshop CS6

I have a shape, it has no fill, so it's just an outline, let's say it's an outline of a leg.
Now what I want to do is draw another outline inside that leg outline, but I don't want 2 end up with 2 separate shapes (2 layers), I want to draw the 2nd outline directly into the first one, so it's all one big vector shape.
For some reason this seems impossible to do in Photoshop CS6. If I select combine shapes, from the menu, free form pen tool and then draw the 2nd outline into the 1st outline, when I stop drawing I don't end up with one outline combined (on top of) the first, instead it just seems to do some weird clipping and I end up with the first outline shrinking, and the outline I just drew appearing not as an outline but as a path.
This is something that works perfectly in Flash pro, you draw a shape, you draw another one on top and you then have both perfectly combined, no fuss no bother. You can even vary the stroke strength at any point along the line in Flash, I'm not sure this is even possible in Photoshop.
Any ideas what's going wrong in photoshop or how to do that in photoshop?
Thanks for any advice.

You can almost get what you want by working slightly differently.
When you use the pen tool choose from the options bar the Path instead of the Shape option. Draw each of your paths as you normally do. When all the paths you want on a single layer are drawn click on the paths panel. Then choose the brush tool and select the color and width of the outline stroke. Then select one of the paths by clicking on it with the "black arrow" tool. At the bottom of the path's panel click on the icon for "stroke path with brush" . You can then repeat this process to stroke the other paths.  If all the paths on a layer will have the same stroke then select them all and one click on the stroke icon will stroke them all.
Note that for the kind of work you seem to be doing this approach has the benefit of using ANY brush (see bottom path in example), which can produce quite interesting effects.  The vector paths in the paths panel should be named if you want them saved in the document.  Also, if you want all the paths on a layer to be merged then alt click on the thumbnail of the relevant path and then from the Path Operations dropdown menu choose merge shape components.
Hope this helps.

• Create text inside a path or shape in Photoshop CS6?

Is there a new way to fill a shape or path with text in CS6.
When I create the path I can put my text tool "over" the path & my cursor switches to a curved line through the cursor, but when I place the cursor "inside" the path it just goes back to regular cursor & if I click inside it just starts a new (regular) text layer.
In older versions as soon as I placed my text cursor inside the path it would switch to the text cursor inside parenthesis. And thus type inside the path. That doesn't happen anymore.
Is there a new way to do this?
Thanks

Just figured it out. You apparently have to create a "shape" layer first.
That's strange because I don't find it necessary to create a Shape layer in CS6, and I don't think JJ needs to create a Shape.
I can create a closed path, Work Path for example, position Type Tool pointer inside path to see the dotted circle pointer, click on canvas then start typing.

• Where do I find Shapes such as squares, octagons, circle etc in photoshop cs6?

I want to make  a gloss over my picture with the shape of a half moon upside down or a circle with no fill. Where do I find the shapes in photoshop Cs6?

Press and hold down on the Rectangle shape tool in the Toolbox to reveal other shape tools
Choose Custom Shapes from the list.
Then up in the Options bar, there should be a drop down menu that will show all shapes.
Hint:  Click on the panel gear icon to the right of those shapes, and you will see a list of custom shapes to load. "All" will load every single one.

• Video editing/exporting in Photoshop CS6 - original quality gone in YouTube. Idea?

Hello, i've searched this forum and other sources already, but couldn't find a solution. Unfortunately, i am not a video pro.
I record video tutorials about Photoshop (so, screen captures) and edit/combine the clips inside Photoshop CS6 in Win 7/64; Photoshop's new video talent is nice. I record 852x480px at 15 fps with FastStone Capture  and save in WMV.
I want to show the finished video tutorial on Youtube. There are several things baffling me when editing video in Photoshop CS6.
My original records  (according to MediaInfo):

If i upload this *original* WMV clip *without any editing* to YouTube, it looks very nice on YouTube (if you manually set the YouTube player quality to 480p). YouTube upscales the low-res clip nicely even on big screens. (I use the low screen resolution of 852x480 so that tool icons and letters in menus don't appear to small. I would love to stay with that resolution.)
But i want to combine several screen capture takes in Photoshop CS6. Inside Photoshop CS6 Extended, i get the Adobe Media Encoder (AME) and have only two format options: H.264 (MP4) and DPX (DPX only offerening resolutions between 1080 and 2048 px wide). There is no AVI or WMV or anything else offered.
So from Photoshop CS6 i export to MP4 with these specs:
MP4
Preset: High Quality (nothing "better" is offered)
Size: as original (852x480)
Framerate: as original (15 fps)
Interlacing: progressive (recommended by YouTube)
The result looks very nice when i play it locally in VLC. It looks like the original WMV.
But: When i upload the Photoshop-version to YouTube, the video looks very badly "upsampled" and blurred. It looks much worse than the uploaded WMV original.
If you like, you can compare the two videos from the same source online:
Uploaded WMV clip, looking good (set player to 480 p):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjmKohV_jmU
Rendered in Photoshop CS6, looking bad (set player to 480 p):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA0Veq9IZac
I do like the resolution of 852x480 and would like to keep it. If not possible, i have to record tutorials in 1280x720, even though icons and menus look too small. So far i have not tested it.
I searched my folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0. There is a lot in it which i don't understand, but some file names include "MPEG", "AVI", "Adobe QT Server" etc. I think there is no Quicktime installed on my machine; i try to avoid it as it does many different things to the system and is obnoxious.
My questions:
- When aiming for a YouTube cast, could i stay with 852x480 (at 15 fps), or doesn't it make sense? (I like that size.) If 852x480 is not ok, what is the lowest resolution for getting good looking presentations on Youtube?
- Why does the Adobe Media Encoder in my Photoshop CS6 only offer the formats H.264 and DPX? Can i get more? (Free, pay.) Would it help?
- Do i need to install Quicktime? How could i do this with less intrusive QT behaviour?
- Should i record more fps in FastStone Capture? (I don't find more fps necessary when looking at the original and when looking at the uploaded *original*.)
- What to do?
Thanks for all suggestions!

My Canon EOS Camera can also capture 1080p Video it writes it to the memory Card as Name.MOV.  I don't do video the file are huge. But you
made me want to see what CS6 video support could do to reduce the file size.
So I took one of my captured .mov files and droped it onto Photoshop the .mov file was 264,678,777 byte in size.  I saw the Photoshop could render H264 .mp4 video anf that there were some presets for YouTube at 29.97 the rate my camera does for 1080p, 720p and SD 360p I also tried createin a 854x480 16:9 video 480P
These are the size file produced 480 make no sence it so close to 720 file size.

• Photoshop CS6 automatic shape layers?

In Photoshop CS6, I have Shape Layer B clipped (ctrl alt G) by Shape Layer A. SL-B has a color fill different from SL-A, and has 50% opacity. Is there a way to automatically make every new Shape Layer drawn to have the same transparency and fill color as SH-B, and should also be clipped by SH-A?
When I select SL-A and then draw a new shape layer, it copies the fill color of SL-A and is clipped automatically. When I select SL-B and then draw a new shape layere, the new layer copies SL-B's fill color, but not the transparency, and it is also not clipped.

Play with the manipulator keys (shift, ctrl, alt) or use the boolean icon in the top tool bar. This would allow you to add or subtract from the same layer. Making it possible to have more than one shape on the same layer.
Just a thought...

• Photoshop CS6 selection, shape, and text is causing colored artifacts on screen

The Photoshop CS6 (13.0.4) selection, text, and shape tool causes colored artifacts on screen. I'm running on a retina Macbook Pro updated to the latest ML release. I have disabled GPU acceleration. I have also tried starting Photoshop with no plugins but this does not help.
I have created a video which shows the phenomena
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG5ayC3WmKA

SOLVED. After two days of intense debugging I've identified the issue as an interaction between the ICC color profile, integrated GPU, and Photoshop. The ICC profile was created with an i1Display Pro using the i1Profiler software. The issue occurs when you create the color profile using the LUT setting. Creating a profile using the matrix setting seems to be ok. In summary, these are the specific conditions that cause the issue (for me):
1) Using a color profile created with the LUT setting with i1Profiler and i1Display Pro
2) Using the integrated GPU (discrete GPU is disabled in Photoshop Performance setting)
3) Running on Photoshop 13.0.4 (13.0+ all have the issue) on a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display
Creating a new profile with the matrix setting OR enabling the discrete Nvidia GPU will also make the artifacts go away. The integrated GPU using the LUT based color profile does not seem to have any artifacts in any other photography and video editing software that I've tried so Photoshop is playing a role. The nature of the artifacts also change from Photoshop version 13.0 to 13.0.4. For example, in Photoshop 13.0 the Marquee Tool has no issues while 13.0.1+ has artifacts.

• Photoshop CS6 Beta  |  Vector Shapes selection issue

Hi there,
The issue is related to selecting vector shapes. Below I'm describing the difference between Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS6 and showing the actual issue.
Photoshop CS5
Vector shape have color area and vector mask visible - http://screencast.com/t/hVB2H7ceqp
Selecting the later do not affect the visibility of the actual shape - http://screencast.com/t/YkmJlsLRNX
Selecting the vector mask gives us the visual representation that mask is selected - http://screencast.com/t/Iq4P9Qgp9
Photoshop CS6 beta
Vector shape have a single icon - http://screencast.com/t/ptBpMRYup
When select the layer the vector mask is automatic selected too - http://screencast.com/t/dm1WjibiTZ
The Problems
This is frustrating because it is hard to set layer styles properly, the additional "stroke" that comes from the selected layer mask visuals mess the things up.
Also the shortcut of coppying the vector mask is also different.
I fould a way that solves the problem partially - http://screencast.com/t/CSKcTX3n, but after you select the actual vector path and points, it turns on automatically, which is frustrating again.
Hey guys, you've done wonderful job with CS6 really. Congrats you are trying to incorporate real vector shapes in photoshop, but selection of the shapes in illustrator and photoshop just can't be the same.
Please can you find a way to select vector shapes without selecting the actual vector mask too, this was perfectly developed in Photoshop CS5.
Thanks!
Regards,
SK

Thanks for the fast reply. All sorted out

As for the current selection behavior, thanks for the feedback. I can definitely see how that would be annoying, especially if you are used to the previous shape layer workflow. I can't promise any changes for this release, but I will pass it along to the rest of the team and we'll keep it in mind for future releases.
Also, just to clarify some of the terminology, the path associated with the shape layer is called a shape path. It is no longer a separate mask, although it has much of the same behavior as the old content fill + vector mask shape layers.
Layer selection should be just that. The layers.
I totally understand what you're saying, but in CS6 the path is part of the layer. It's not really comparable to any other layer types.
Anyway, I'm not trying to dismiss your feedback or anything -- just trying to help explain what our thinking was behind the changes. Hopefully we'll be able to keep refining the behavior of the new features in the future.

• Why cut shapes into text in 3D (Photoshop CS6)?

Right. Hello all.
I'm having a little bit of an issue with photoshop cs6 3d function. It's pretty damn good (I'm using it for the first time) and I'm pretty impressed. However, whenever I go through a prelim render to get the jist of what the text I'm working on will look like, it decides to cut a random shape into a specific letter (the letter 'A', capitalised, News Gothic, Caps).
Why is it doing this?
I've tried multiple times to start over again after trying to change as much as possible but it still comes back and always comes back affecting the 'A'! Please see screengrab below.
Help please!
Thank you,
juggernautdave

It's pretty damn good
*lol* Armies of 3D artists using "real" 3D programs would disagree. That aside, your issue is pretty clear - your contour contains messy points/ duplicate points in that specific corner and it screws up the triangulation. You need to create the text as paths, manually clean them up and extrude the result. Not so good anymore, eh?

• How to use Photoshop CS6

Hi Peeps,
I have been using Photoshop Elements 4.0 but now I have to switch to Photoshop CS6 as there are some printing issues with Elements 4.0.
I would like to seek for your kind advices how to use Photoshop CS6 as I can't seems to find the answer in support link.
In Elements 4.0, there is a Pencil mode we can use and set the size but i did not find it in CS6 except the Pen mode.
As well as in Elements 4.0, i can show grid lines as i need to make the images centralised but i cant find in CS6 also, the option is greyed-out.
May i seek for the users/experts of Photoshop CS6 to enlighten me?
Thank you so much.
Best Regards,
Kazz

Hihi Silkrooster,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply!
May I still seek further assistance from you? As I simply can't get the pencil line that I wants.
In Elements 4.0, I just have to simply select Pencil -> Size: 3 px, Mode: Normal Opacity: 100% and I can get the size of the pencil line that I need.
See attached screenshot below: -
But in CS6, i tried the combination of 2B pencil -> Size: 3 px, Mode: Normal Opacity: 100%, but it does not work so i go to extend to set Brush Tip Shape.
See green box 1: its the pencil line that I want.
See green box 2: its set to 3px, square pointed, softness: 100% but it's too big and looks faded.
See green box 3: All is the same except is 2px but at least it looks so much alike to the one i need (dark, black solid line) but it's too thin.
Can enlighten me how to go about it plssss?
Thank you so much.
Best Regards,

• FAQ: What are the known issues so far in Photoshop CS6 Beta

APPLICATION  COEXISTENCE
Lightroom 4 Beta + Photoshop CS6 beta -- Editing the same video file simultanously in both applications may result in an error, crash, or blank (transparent) frames. You might see this Photoshop error: "Could not complete the Render Video command because of a problem with Adobe Media Encoder".
This will only be an issue with Lightroom 4 beta and Photoshop CS6 beta on the same system, editing the same video. The released versions will not have this issue.
Workaround: Upgrade to LR Release version (even if it's just the trial), or don't open the same file in both apps at the same time.
CS5 Help fails to launch after install of CS6
Workaround: Launch the stand alone "Adobe Help" application or reinstall CS5
CROP
Crop action shows wrong crop box.Playing an action with a crop step that has dialogs turned on results in a crop box that covers the entire canvas instead of the expected area.
Workaround: Ensure that the Crop Tool is selected before running the action or disable dialogs for the action.
FILTERS
(32bit OS only) Initial "Merge to HDR Pro" image display and result is black until settings are changed
Workaround: It will remain black until droplist in the "mode" line is selected, changed and activated, then action appears to be normal.
Bokeh color is different from preview after render at certain zoom levels on particular image patterns
Workaround: View image at 100%
Lighting effects bump map generates artifacts if an alpha channel bump map is used. The resulting preview and final image is artifacted across the gradiated areas of the alpha channel.
Workaround: Do not use a gradiated alpha channel as a bump map
Liquify will perform the filter and save to just part of the photo if you click cancel while it is "finishing processing" a large file.
LAYERS
If a vector layer has a center-aligned stroke combined with an inside-aligned layer style stroke, then that vector layer's stroke may not display correctly -- part of the vector layer stroke will disappear as the layer is moved around the image.
Workaround: Use the "Path Selection Tool" to move your vector around -- alternatively, Change the stroke alignment or remove underlying layers.
Dragging a selection box while layer filters are applied stops marquee selection from following cursor movement
Workaround: Even though the graphic of the selection marquee stops, the selection still happens. OR Turn off layer filtering before targeting the layers using a selection box
TYPE
Editing text attributes in the Character panel when the layer is locked can result in a crash
Workaround: Unlock your text layer prior to attribute adjustments in the Character panel
Setting the menu type>font>preview size to "huge" after opening a saved file caused photoshop to crash
Workaround: Uncheck Background save in Photoshop CS6
Style by example or definition not working as expected:

Creating a video timeline and rendering video from two 3D layers may not include ground plane reflections
Workaround: Use mesh for ground plane instead of 3D engines construct, or duplicate the file and remove the keyframes
Creating a New background texture after changing lighting presets results in crash
Workaround: Create the New background texture prior to adjusting lighting presets
Unable to create a constraint on extruded object with Pillow Inflate setting applied. Further actions may result in Photoshop instability or crash.
Photoshop may crash when trying to align/distribute constraints from selections of two 3-D extruded objects
Photoshop may not always save a texture when you paint directly onto the 3d object using Paint on Target Texture setting.
Photoshop may crash when selecting a different panel filter after the focus has been on 2 fields in the environment flyout with IBL map present
Photoshop may crash after embedding a 3D layer into a layer group, creating a new 3d object in the group, and then closing the document.
When changing the color of the lines or points in the 3D scene cross section from the Properties panel, side b color overwrites the color in side A.
Program Error when adjusting fill value in Layers panel while in Lighting Effects workspace.
Workaround:You will have to use opacity slider instead of fill slider to pull back the lighting effect
PLUGINS
DUPLICATE PLUGINS CAUSE ISSUES ON MAC:
If you install duplicate plugins or point the additional plugins folder preferences to a duplicate set of plugins (such as, to an older version of Photoshop), then it is possible for odd Photoshop behavior, such as an inappropriate file extension to appear when saving files.
(example: while performing a "save as"  to JPEG file type, the file format appears to change to .dcm)
In this case, there may be a duplicate "file formats" plugin that's populating the Save As file types list with duplicates of the same options.
If there are duplicate file format plugins installed, the Mac OS will remove the duplicates from the list, but you may still see the odd saving behavior.
Solution:
Remove the duplicate plugins.
If you are not sure if you have this issue, but are seeing odd behavior, you can check for duplicates by looking through the plugins listed in the Help > System Info dialog.
Bridge
Unable to Copy and Paste in File info in Bridge
Workaround: Typing info in Manually works, or copy and paste work in Photoshop's File Info dialog
Install
Adobe Setup Utility may quit, or error during install. You may see error: "Exit Code: 15"
Workaround: Create a folder named 'Templates' at "<Windows drive>:\Users\<current user login id>\AppData\Roaming\Micorsoft\Windows\"
Message saying trial of PS CS6 beta expired,Content coming soon, stay tuned.
Workaround: re-launch photoshop CS6 beta. This issue should not happen anymore

1. You can get full support for your camera by upgrading to Lightroom 4. But personally, I would wait for Lightroom 5 since it will be released shortly, probably within the next month. Lightroom 5 will work with Photoshop CS5. The only difference is that Lightroom will need to create a TIF or PSD file that contains all the changes you have made in Lightroom. That's not a big deal, in my opinion. That file has to be created at some point anyway whenever you use Photoshop.
2. Yes, Lightroom 4 will pass images back and forth between it and Photoshop.
3.  The upgrade would not break Lightroom 3. It would essentially work the same as it does with your current setup.
4. If you purchase CS6 it is my understanding you will be allowed to use it indefinitely. This is not true of the Creative Cloud version. Support and updating for additional cameras will cease for CS6. Adobe has announced that they will make Camera Raw 8.1 so that it can be usable with CS6 as far as reading Lightroom adjustments. But any new controls will not be accessible.
5. So far, Adobe has indicated that they have no plans to making Lightroom a subscription-only offering.
You are asking your questions as though you are addressing Adobe directly. This is a User-to-user forum. I don't work for nor do I speak for Adobe. I am only giving you the information as I understand it. It seems to me that upgrading to Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 is a "safe" choice. None of us, not even Adobe, really knows what the future will bring. Technology changes so quickly anymore that everything we are doing right now could be obsolete in a matter of a very short period of time. As Adobe changes their marketing strategies I think it will probably motivate some people to look elsewhere. I have Photoshop CS6 and I'm going to upgrade to Lightroom 5. Then I will have to wait and see what develops after that. At any rate, I have tools that I can use for the foreseeable future. If I have to change at some point then I will do so.

• 3D Type in Photoshop CS6

I have to say that one of the best features in Photoshop CS6 is the 3D Type capabilities. In the past I used to rely on Illustrator for this, but new advancements in PS CS6 have come so far that I can abandon that method for producing 3D type as well as 3D shapes and logos.
The ability to create amazing artwork like this:
http://www.bestfreewebresources.com/2010/05/30-fresh-and-beautiful-3d-typography.html
Is now easier than it was just a year ago. I'd love to know how others feel about the new tools and if you're struggling with them or what you've created with them.

The grid and positioning controls show up when you select the 3D object in the 3D Panel, then choose the Move Tool in the Tools Panel.
I don't think you're going to get a working understanding of how to use the 3D facilities by asking one question at a time in a forum.  You really do need to go read/view more documentation and tutorials, then just experiment with it until things start to make sense.  It's complicated - don't expect understanding to dawn quickly.

• Photoshop CS6 bug report - creating halftone

Error occurred when creating a 4 color half tone separation.

Plug-ins that failed to load: NONE
Flash:
       Watermark
       onOne
       Mini Bridge
       Kuler
Installed TWAIN devices: NONE

I can't reproduce that with a normal CS6 install.
But I see that you copied many of the plugins from CS5 into CS6 -- and those will cause conflicts.
Remove all the plugins that you copied from CS5 and try again.
Also, this could be related to document dimensions -- could you tell us the exact pixel dimensions of the images that fail?

• Photoshop cs6 error "could not use the type tool because the target channel is hidden.  happens when im typing in photoshop, go to another layer and then come back. can't alter text at that point

photoshop cs6 error "could not use the type tool because the target channel is hidden.  happens when im typing in photoshop, go to another layer and then come back. can't alter text at that point.  i really need to get thsi figured out. thank you.

You may have answered my question. I AM using the 64bit version of Illustrator CS6. I had no idea there were bugs in it that affected paths copied and pasted from Illustrator to Photoshop.
A bit more about what I'm trying to accomplish... I'm trying to follow Deke's tutorial (http://www.deke.com/content/dekes-techniques-018-creating-a-3d-pie-chart) which is already difficult since so much has changed between CS5.5 and 6, but then on top of that, I keep getting errors!
So I created the pie chart exactly as he shows and copied and pasted into Photoshop exactly as he does. Before submitting this post, though, I tried drawing just two very simple triangle shapes, copying them both and pasting them into Photoshop as a shape layer. The shapes weren't overlapping, but they were a part of the same shape layer just like the pie chart tutorial.
Thanks for your help. If there is anything else I should try before just giving up because of the 64bit bugs, please let me know.

• Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer Bug in Photoshop CS6

I noticed that most of the time I cannot copy a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in Photoshop CS6. (In about a third of all cases it works, in all others I have to create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer).
Hitting Command + J will cause my Mac to make an error sound.
Option + delete also doesn't work half the time.
Also: I cannot do a "Stamp visible" above a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Hitting Command + Option + Shift + E will bring another error sound.
I have to creat a new layer, and then create a stamp visible. But half the time this doesn't work, either. Hitting Command + Shift + N will give me another error sound.
I have to create a different adjustment layer, then an empty layer, and only then I can create a "stamp visible".
Only Hue/Saturation adjustment layers are affected by this - but it's a true hold-up.

What Mac? What version of OSX? That aside, your issue sounds too exotic to be a genuine bug. Sounds more like some specific combination of settings is preventing this. could be anything from blending tricks to color profiles...

• What is missing from Photoshop CS6 ???

I tried the new PhotoShop CS6 (beta) but aside from some innovations of which my favorite is the interface (The interface is one of the best innovation that Adobe have made finally an interface that does not make you eyes hurt) and content aware move tool (content aware is definitely the best technology in Photoshop, may in the future in Photoshop CS20 will be voice-activated and will do exactly what you say even to draw for you) and maybe the new brushis, nothing that new, especially for those who draw in Photoshop concept artists, Ilustrators and so on ... etc
In my opinion what is missing from the famous Photoshop CS 6 and should have been is :
1 : Live symmetry drawing (horizontal and vertical) even the simplest programs like Alchemy / Sketchbook Pro and new Painter 12 has the function they have gone beyond the horizontal and vertical with the function of Kaleidoscope. I really like how the brush works in Alchemy especially in symmetry, in Sketchbook Pro are not so good in symmetry, unless thei are round but if you have a strange shapes thei tend to function as a parallel very strange but it is ther why the famous Photoshop does not have this function ??? I hoped that in PS CS6 (beta) to be, but no, I do hope maybe in the CS7 will be,
2: I would like to make several sets of brushes, but in different windows on the screen at the same time not only a big one something like Corel Painter 12
3: If you put a 3d function why do you tried to do something like the Google SketchUP fast, simple to use and easy to learn, or a simplified version of ZBrush sculpture in 3d clay ???
Ok now let's talk about Bridge CS6: same functions, nothing so new, I hope that in the cs6 to implement something like the function of ACDSee Photo Manager 12 for example:
Preview Thumbnails in a files, shortcuts that can be modified, such as double click I want to open fullscreen preview not send in photoshop or Camera Raw etc, why not the same as Photoshop, to make what I want to what I want, preview window to have the option of framing the image even if it is small or large (fit image, reduce or enlarge) the same for full screen mode the image will be framed by the edges of the screen (fit image height or widthand reduce or enlarge) from there if you want 100%, 200% etc. and many others
What is right, there are many other features that I like and love in Bridge much more than ACDSee 12 such as preview multiple images at the same time in preview window and Review Mode (one of my favorite) and many others but ...   ... What was more important to me I said maybe for someone else is something else missing ...

…Why on earth would you want to restrict Photoshop?…
Because I may consider it to be bloated already?
Because I don't need to be driving around in a motor home when my car fills my needs?
Because I don't need a hammer that doubles as a screwdriver or water-heater when I need to drive a nail?
Because a scalpel may be more useful for my purposes than a Swiss-army knife?
Because I would prefer the engineering team to work on refining existing features and improving stability rather than add features that are better served in drawing and painting applications?
Because I'm not particularly impressed by some of the new "features"?
Because I would prefer to see improvements to the History panel as have been suggested and requested over the years?
I could think of many more such reasons why.
Trevor.Dennis wrote:
…I suspect there are a great many features in existing versions of Photoshop that you don't use…
Duh!    Precisely!
Software bloat adds to the cost of developing and maintaining an application, delays the release of bug fixes and genuine improvements of existing features and eventually demands greater hardware resources.
I have no clue as to what the he!! your "Prime Minister" quote is supposed to mean in the context of this discussion, unless you're implying that you feel like a 21-year-old whippersnapper who knows everything.  From your avatar picture you look younger than I am.  Besides, I know of very few "prime ministers" who are, were or have been particularly knowledgeable about "everything", so that may not even be a requirement for the job.
