Combining 4:3 and 16:9 QT movie
I'm trying to combine two quicktime movies into one. But one is 4:3 and the other is 16:9. I went the expert settings in QT Pro and changed the aspect ratio of the 4:3 to a 16:9 but when I combine the two, I get this grey area on the bottom of the QT screen. And when I take it to iDVD, it's still there. Any solution to make it even and have the grey area dissappeare?
You'll need to adjust the "size" (height and width) and "offset" (position) of the 4:3 file so that it occupies the same space as the 16:9 image. Leave the aspect ratio as 4:3.
You edit these properties in the Movie Properties window. A little practice to get it right.

Software to combine audio and pictures to make movie
Hi. I have some pictures and wished to combine them with audio to make a movie. Some of the audio files are over 60 minutes long (can't use iMovie) and are in apple lossless format. It would be good to keep the audio in apple lossless so as not to reduce the audio quality (it's already bad enough). Keeping it in apple lossless may create issues with the size of the file though.
Because of the length of the audio files I can't do this in iMovie. I know I can do this in Final Cut Express but it is a little expensive. Any suggestions on what I can use?

How do I combine separate audio and video files into one Quicktime movie?
I have DVDs that contain separate audio and video files in folders marked Audio_TS and Video_TS. I would like to know how to combine these files into a single Quicktime movie. Is there inexpensive or shareware software that imports and unites these files reliably? A simple solution is preferred, rather than getting into complex media editing applications.
G4 eMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)Doug - the VOB files (in the VIDEO_TS folder) are MPEG-2 files. MPEG-2 have the video and audio mixed into the one file - there are no audio files to combine.
The rest are directions to a DVD player (e.g. the BUP and IFO's) . The AUDIO_TS folder is used for DVD Audio discs and on video DVDs is always empty.
Many people use Handbrake or iSquint to convert VOB to iPod video though MPEG Streamclip is the best - open the first numbered VOB and it will prompt you to open all of them. ALWAYS fix timecodes when it asks. You can then edit/trim and export to MPEG-4. -
How to Combine an .m2v and and an .AC3 into one QT.mov file
A few years ago I converted a .mov file into an .m2v and an .AC3 using Compressor 1.2 (that was for DVD Studio Pro 3.0). I lost the .mov and now need to combine the two files into one QT .mov file. How can I do that please?
I have QT 7.1 3 in OS 10.3.9 and also the QT that came with OS 10.5.8 (I can run either OSs.) (I know that the combined file will be of poorer quality compared to the original .mov). I have Aimersoft Total Media Converter 2.0.4 which can convert video from one form to another, but it can't combine (at least I don't think so).I lost the .mov and now need to combine the two files into one QT .mov file. How can I do that please?
If you don't have software to do this directly, basically you would have only two other options. The first would be to mux the M2V and AC3 files and then convert the "muxed" file using a compatible converter. The second, would be to convert the audio and video files separately and merge the converted files in a video editor, QT Pro, GarageBand, or a similar application. -
My husband and I both have apple ids which we use to purchase music, movies etc... We want to combine our libraries and pull from the same. We've been doing this manually - but wonder if we can use the Cloud to support 2 apple ids or if we have to create a 3rd apple id / email and somehow transfer our individual music to the 3rd apple id / email. Creating the 3rd email / apple id will be a pain since we will never use this as an email. We need Help figuring out the best approach.
You can't combine two Apple IDs... I have the same problem I have an iCloud mail account and an Apple ID i use to purchase music with and I'd love a way to combine them. Apple has said in the past their looking into a possible way of doing this but I'm doubtful they will... :/

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black. Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything. Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously. Has anyone had this problem? I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.
Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem! -
Combining two VI and avoiding overlapping digital lines
I'm working on a VI which used to be two separate programs (top while loop and bottom while loop). One program would run a stepper motor over time and pull an object to apply tension and read it through a load cell (top while loop). The other program it used to move the motor rapidly in order to reset it's position back to a "default" (bottom loop). I'm trying to get the functionality of both programs into one VI that I can control the stepper motor without having to switch programs (and mostly to have a "complete" program). I'm not very skilled yet with the in's and out's of LabVIEW but I'll try my best to work with your suggestions!

I want to get some more information about your application. From what I can understand, the top loop ran first and when that was completed you ran the bottom loop in your program to reset the values to default. Now you combined both VIs and want it to programatically perform the same action?Do you want your code to run in such a way that when you press a button, it 'switches' from one mode to the other? Before giving suggestions, I'd like to verify what it is your are trying to do in order to give a suggestion.

Audio Issue - Using Logic Pro and iMovie to Create Movies for Youtube
I am trying to use a combination of Quicktime, iMovie and Logic Pro 9 to create videos of me playing/singing songs to post on Youtube. Before I can ask the question, I think it would be best to briefly explain my process, so here's one example:
One thing I try to do is video myself playing piano and singing at the same time. What I do is open up Logic Pro and load my piano sound and arm an audio track that my microphone is plugged in to; I also go to "System Preferences" and click on "Sound" and make sure that my audio interface is selected for the input method. Then, I open up Quicktime and select "New Movie Recording". Finally, I open up my software for my interface and set it up for "loopback"...there's a picture below.
If you look at the bottom of the interface, you'll see it says "DAW 1: Loop Back 1" and "DAW 2: Loop Back 2". Ideally, this means that whenever I start recording in Quicktime, all of the sounds that I am making in Logic (the piano playing and the singing) will loop back into the computer and be recorded by Quicktime. This does actually happen, but my question is this:
I've noticed that the sound quality of software instruments is drastically reduced once they have been recorded by Quicktime (or iMovie) and I play the movie back. Actual audio files, like me singing or playing a real instrument aren't really affected, but for some reason the software instruments sound very thin once I listen to the audio in the movie. Why is this happening? Is there a way to preserve the audio quality to be the same during video playback as it is when I am playing the instruments live in Logic?Interesting and convoluted way to get something done.. from what you're describing it almost sounds like the software instruments are somehow getting recorded twice but slightly out of phase.

I bought this iPad (think it is an iPad 2 not actually sure, a about a few months ago. Yesterday I decided to go on iTunes store and purchase a rental movie which cost approx $6 NZD. After about 2 hours I ran out of data and the movie hadn't even downloaded halfway so I purchased more data thinking another Gb would do. Then i got a message from itunes that my ipad didnt have enough storage so i went into settings and dleeted apps and docs (apparently also deleted from icloud too) to make room for the movie. Now after purchasing another 7GB of data at over three times the cost of the rented movie it finally finished downloading and I had enough space on my iPad. But now I can't find the actual movie...I go to iTunes to purchases and view movies , to downloads and searched the title of the movie...I can see an icon of it and it is in a separate place from other purchases but it says downloaded in faded lettering. Where is it? Why have I just wastednearlyb$50 just tying to download and watch one measly movie! It is obviously some secret formula or thing I've missed...it shouldn't be so hard! The day before this I successfully downloaded a song I purchased and can listen to with no probs. do I need another app to store downloaded movies or something?

I had a WIndows XP desktop and Laptop. Each had iTunes installed. When moving from iPhone 3 to 4, I acquied a second Apple ID. I want to migrate all of my playlists, downladed songs, podcasts and apps to my new sesktop (HP 64-bit, WIndows 7) and make that my headquarters for iPhone and iPad 1. Is it even possible to combine my media and get it together on my hand-elds? If yes, please enlighten. Thanks in advance.
I think I will do this. I will use my apple ID and set face time and message to work independently. That solves one problrem. My other problem and maybe my bigger problem is that if I am using my apple ID, how do I iflter all of this so that my kids don't see my contacts, get my apps, etc. ?

Combining smart quotes and inch marks?
Dilemma! I have smart quotes turned on because I need them. I also need to be able to use inch marks in the same document. I have searched the Help files with no luck. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to have both smart quotes and inch marks in the same Pages document?

Powermac G5 & Powerbook 15" Mac OS X (10.4.8)You can indeed combine smart quotes and the character that indicates inches, by using the appropriate inch mark character from the system-wide Character Palette. To do this, you will need access the Input Menu at the top right of the menu bar. If you don't have the Input Menu visible, go into the International System Preferences, in the Input Menu tab, check the "Show Input Menu in Menu Bar" option at the bottom of the panel, and check "On" for the Character Palette. This will put a little flag on the right side of your menu bar -- this is the Input Menu.
From the Input Menu, select the Character Palette. With the palette open, choose the Punctuation category. You will be presented with a wide array of punctuation characters, including proper inch and foot marks (which are actually "prime" and "double prime" marks, and are angled, unlike straight quotes). Select in Pages where you want the character to go, and then double-click it, and it will be inserted. The prime and double-prime marks are not considered quotes by the system, and so won't be curlified. -
I just purchased a ipad 2 and have not sync it yet. I have an old pc and would like to move the itunes library account to a newer pc that I have. Can I move the library to the ipad and sync ipods to the ipad and/or move the library to the new pc?

But I must point out that leaving the iPhoto Library on the external is worth considering. Your internal drive would be better off without having to carry the photos.
When you booted with the external connected and you were asked for the library, did you try navigating to the Library in on the external drive? -
For the 1st time I am trying to send an iphoto by e-mail but get the error message " combination of username and password not recognised by the server" I use Sky Mail ( yahoo mail) and input the same username and password that I access Sky Mail - have retried many times. Predictably the Sky help desk have no idea. Can anyone help please?
I regret that you're having trouble setting up your email, corbad! You're on the right track with your incoming email address. You might also try incoming.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net as possible alternatives, and 995 as the port number. Please let me know how that goes!

After the recent update, I went into update IPAD and all of my movies were gone. Which this is set up for my daughter was a bummer. All of her kid moveies were gone. When I plugged it in for an update that is all I did. I didnt change anything.
When I plugged my phone in to update it all of my playlists were gone and so were the few movies I had on there.
Today I turned on the Apple TV so my daughter could watch a movie and it is still downloading and I have 15 hours before I can watch it. What is going on?
The main itunes account no longer has any of my playlists and I am concerned I lost some music. All of my self downloads seem to be gone, playlists gone.

Button animation in selected state.
Can I have a video or animation playing on a button only in the selected state(and still in the the other state)? atm I can have a video looping in in a normal menu but this dosen't work in a layered menu?
