Combining Actions...Can it be done?

I am in the process of archiving more than 12,000 photo images that were taken during the course of our latest capital improvement project. I have two recorded actions - one to set the file information, and another to rename the files into a standardized format.
Is there a way to combine these two actions - short of re-recording them into one - that will allow me to run a single batch on each subfolder of image files to make this process more efficient?

Mark, not being incredibly familiar with PS before the CS version, I can't say how much the actions have changed. However, I can tell you that I have sat through numerous PS training sessions and they certainly are NOT given enough instruction or credit! Actions are incredibly powerful tools, when used properly and with discretion, but I'm sure that many users - like me - have had to figure out much of their functionality "on the fly" (which only works when one has time to learn while in the midst of the creative process!).
That is why I am so grateful to you and the other faithful posters on this forum! I began my forum use with ID, quickly learned their value, and expanded into the AI, DW, and PS forums as well. I firmly believe that knowledge is only power if it is shared.
While I hope I never have to organize and archive 12,000 pics again...it is nice to have the tools and knowledge to do it efficiently and effectively!

Error while syncing can not be erased and have gone to all articles and nothing has worked. Have tried to erase my data in the sync file and that can not be done - it says try again another time. What now?

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

HT204570 I have a ~22k pic iCloud photo library. I want to have a folder of ~1.2k pics available on my iPad in full resolution while offline, all the time. Can this be done?

Hi - I have had iCloud photos turned on for about 2 weeks. My old iPhoto library of around 22k pics uploaded no problem. My issues are with now viewing them on my iPhone and iPad, which are set to optimise storage.
On the iPad I used to have a folder of about 1200 pics which I'd use as a photo frame by chucking on as a slideshow on my desk at work. I don't connect to the wifi there. Since iCloud photo I can't do this, as the pics are mostly low res, if there at all (two weeks after upload the vast majority of my library appears as just a sea of grey squares on both i-devices - thumbnails have not appeared for huge swathes of the library at all. Is this going to right itself?). I read about using Favourites to ensure local full res copies are kept, so I've gone through and favourited each pic (no option to do this in bulk on the iPad?) and this has ensured at least that each pic of those selected have thumbnails now, but no guarantee that the full image will display. Even when I run the slideshow connected to wifi the low-res pixelated placeholder is what's displayed for most of the time the image is on the screen. And if Favourites is the way to force local hi-res copies I still have no need for these to be also stored in full resolution on my iPhone.
Basically, I want a way to force folders to be available in full, offline, and specific to the device. Is this possible? Big step back for what I use this thing for if not.

Is there anything ornate in the frame images. Or are they more or less just made with strips of standard framing molding. If nothing fancy just molding then an action that uses patterns and a little bit of scripting can frame your images orientation does not matter a little scripting handles that. To scale you images to the proper size will take some scripting and the spread sheet exported to a CSV file containing filename width and height.
My crafting action package contains 12 scripts to be used in actions. Two of which would be very useful for your project. If you create you script to size the images so they have the correct print size. The framing of these would be easy. The action would first run two of my run twice scripts for action. The first scripts saves the documents current resolution so the action can change it to what it need the document to have for its framing patterns. The second script will rotate portrait images to landscape orientation. The action can the add the 1" frame. once the frame is in place the action the runs the two scripts again. The second time these action run they will restore thing. One will rotate the documents it rotated to landscape back to portraits and the other will restore the documents resolution. My image visualization package has framing actions and a script to make a 1" mitered selection to be filled with the framing pattern.

Attempting to add aditional functionality to my program. Can it be done?

I play online poker. I've written a program that keeps track of poker hands I've played, as well as the players I've played against. After every hand, the poker client writes the hand to a text file. My program reads these text files, extracts certain information regarding the hands and stores it in a database.
I want to add the functionality to the program that would enable it to be aware of things that are happening during the course of a hand; i.e, what cards are displayed on the board, what action each player has taken (raise, bet, check, etc.), how much each player bets, etc. These things can easily be attained AFTER the hand is over by reading through the text file that is saved, but I want the program to have access to this information DURING the hand, so I can have it preform various calculations and various other tasks.
Now, I'm not sure how to go about doing this, nor am I sure if this can even be done in java. I expect what I would need to do is have the program intercept the data which represents various things - actions taken by players, bet sizes, displayed cards, etc - that is transfered between the poker client and server . Or, perhaps, there is a simpler, more obvious solution to this.
So, is there any way to do the above with the proposed solution? If not, is there any other way that my program can work with the poker client itself in order to obtain the desired information without dealing with the interaction between the poker client and server?

So my program just parses this text and extracts certain information, then saves it to a database I created using JDBC. I can then access this info through the GUI I created.
This question is problematic because I don't see how if you actually wrote a program that actually does something that you couldn't make it working during the game and not just after. What I suspect is happening is that either the client is dumping this information for you or that you are manually capturing it.
So can you describe how you are getting the information now exactly?The problem is that the text file is written to AFTER the hand takes place, not during. I'm looking for a way to access what is taking place in the hand, during the hand and not after.
Is that helfpul at all?

Splitting video over two displays - can it be done?

i am doing some video work for a musical at our high school. i will have video projected on a back canvas, but to get better quality of the image (since its so big) is there any way to hook up two projectors so they combine and act as one giant widescreen? i know i can do dual display mode, but i need a way to put a widescreen video between two projectors. can this be done? also, what hardware do i need to connect two external displays? thanks

i have a set of map files with me. now in my project, i need to create a frame with an icon. when i click on the icon, i should get a window that should allow me to choose any one of the map files that i already have.
can this be done in java or is it easier to implement it in java script? i will appreciate if any of u can suggest me the exact procedure to follow preferably using java.

Yes it can be done in java. If you want to do it as applcation then there is no problem. But if you want to write an applet then the applet should be signed.
the way is, create a button with a image. handle the buttons action event and in that display filedialog box to select the file.

The scroll bar (the one used to scroll up and down any kind of website), that is normally in the right part of the firefox browser, would be of much help to me if it could sometimes be moved to the left part of the browser. Is this possible? How can it be done? Can anybody tell me the exact steps to take in order to do this (if it is possible of course)? This would be helpfull to me, since I think that the firefox scroll bar is overlaping the scroll part of the facebook chat sidebar, since I just can see a few people on this facebook chat sidebar and I can´t scroll along it, as I could a while ago. So my guess is that the firefox scroll bar is covering the other. In order to solve it in a simpler way, I guessed that if the firefox scroll bar could be moved to the left side of the browser, this problem could be solved. So, can anybody help me?

Can anything be done to change the white on grey color scheme in Bookmarks?

I just upgraded my Mac Book Pro to OS X Version 10.9.1. I was horrified when I got a look at what Apple has done to Safari! I have macular degeneration - which means that my eyesight is slowly fading away. Bookmarks was especially difficult because all of the bookmrks are shown with a white on grey color scheme. And when the "new" Apple color schemes are not white on grey - they are grey on white. I simply can NOT see anything which is white on grey. OR white on ANY light color. In order to be able to see anything, I need to have contrast. For example, as I type on this page, the scroll bar is grey on white. It has become almost impossible for me to find the scroll bar on most pages. Previously, my scroll bars where usually bright blue. I can see bright blue on white - but NOT grey on white. I can read white letters on BRIGHT or DARK Blue -but NOT light blue.
Apple has made SO many strides in makes computers accessable to those of us who have no other choice except to deal with disabilities! Can ANYTHING be done to change the white on grey color scheme which Apple has adopted throughout its system?
Now, in order to use my Bookmarks, I have to go to my Edit Bookmarks page. Even that solutation is not all that helplful, because the lettering on the Edit Bookmarks page is so small.
Also - I discovered that the "new" Mail pages had the same problem. For the most part, the "innovations" in mail make all of the pages too busy for me to be able to sort my mail or keep track of it in any way. I had to choose to return to the "classic" mail option to be able to get a reasonable facsimile of being able to handle my E mail accounts!
And, of course, once again, the scroll bar on my mail accounts is also grey on white - so it takes a lot of searching for me to just find the scroll bar when I need to scroll down in an E mail!
ALSO - I was equally horrified when I discovered that the Upgrade to Version 10.9.1 made it impossible for me to visit some of my favorite music pages - most of which use MIDI files! I can no longer hear any of my favorite MIDI music pages! I TUNES, of course, is in love with people like Lady Gaga - the type of performers - and performances - which have no relevance to older Americans.
I do volunteer work at a local Assisted Living facility and one of the greatest advances we have been able to make with Alzheimers patients is the way in which Senior Citizens respond to music from their time period. Unfortunately, most of the music which senior citizens prefer to listen to is music which has been preserved in MIDI pages. A few weeks before I "upgraded" my Mac Book Pro - I could take my computer over to the local Assisted Living Facility and play music from Hymn Time's Cyberhymnal or the Angelwinks tunes - but I can NO longer do that with the current Apple "upgrade" in version 10.9.1 - because the music from those MIDI pages can no longer be heard by anyone! The page comes up and you can see the writing - but no one can hear any of the music. We understand that a group in Switzerland has been working on an APP for I Phones which DOES make MIDI files accessable - so surely it should be possible to provide a way for Version 10.9.1 users to listen to MIDI files, such as those provided by Hymn Time's Cyber Hymnal or by Angelwinks!
You will notice that I changed the font for this to Arial Black - primarily because I could NOT see what I was writing when I first began - because, once again, the color scheme was grey on white.

I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. What a poor sync system! Really atypical for apple!

Cannot delete exe files - The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer

We have received 3 new computers with Windows 8.1. All of us 3 have the same problem: we cannot delete exe files with message "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer"
For example, I download skypeinstall.exe on desktop, install the program correctly and then try to delete the file: file is in use by Windows Explorer, cannot be delete.
We reboot computer, we are able to delete the file. But, if I restore the file from the recycle bin on the desktop, I cannot delete it again until I reboot the PC. I used ProcessExplorer to see what is locking it and I can see 5 instances of explorer.exe
locking the file.
I can always reproduce the same way:
1-Reboot
2-Delete exe file
3-Restore file
4-Delete stop working and 5 explorer.exe handle are locking it.
I have tried the following so far after reading multiple threads:
- De-activating Windows Search service
- Activating User Experience service
- Deleting from command prompt (no success)
- In folder options: inactivate display icon on thumbnail and activate always display icons, never thumbnail
- Changing folder view (contents, detail, small icons...)
- Using Lock Hunter - not working until reboot
None of these worked.
We all have Windows 8.1 with Crucial SSD drive, could the problem be linked with the SSD drive incompatibility?
Any help would be appreciated.

If problem persists, try to open Resource Monitor to check handle of Explorer.exe, if there any exception, end them for test.

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.

You should be able to forward them to your e-mail, or you could use a text backup app from Google Play that will backup your texts and e-mail them to you (SMS Backup and Restore is an example).
