Combining and outputting SD and HD in same timeline

I have a bunch of stuff shot in SD and just purchased the Sony FX7 and want to finish off a project with some of the stuff i shot in HD with that camera. I have no problem working with both formats in the timeline, but when i burn it onto DVD there is noticeable issues with the stuff shot on the HD camera. Seems like its an interlacing problem. I do'nt know if there is something in compression that can help it or what i can do. I'm new to FCP 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Capture the HDV footage as DV, so that it matches the DV footage you already have shot. There is an option in the camera to downconvert as the signal is being sent out.

  • 720p and 1080i in same timeline FCP 5.1.4?

I've tried to find an answer to this in the discussions, but no luck, so I hope this hasn't been asked a million times before.
Can I edit 720p and 1080i files in the same timeline? If yes great! On to the next question.
Once I complete the edits, how should I output the final cut - in 720p or in 1080i? And if the answer is 1080i do I need to upres the720p and how do I do that?
    I have FCP 5.1.4.
    Thanks!

Can I edit 720p and 1080i files in the same timeline?
In FCP 5.1.4? No, not without rendering one. Sequence settings match one codec, so anything else will need to be rendered. FCP 6 solved this..open timeline is available. It also automatically sets the sequence to match the settings of the first clip dropped into it.
    If yes great!
    sorry.

Depends...what is your delivery requirement? What do you have more footage of...720 or 1080?

  • HDV and DVCAM in same timeline???

I am working with HDV and DVCAM in the same timeline. It is a HDV sequence so when I drop all the DVCAM footage on it is small. Well I just took the scale to 225 and it seems to look ok. Not HD good, but not all artifacted either. Is their a better way to do this (or supposed to do this)? I am also just wandering if I am violating some format law or something too?
    Thanks a bunch

Final Cut Pro can't mix formats and resolution in the same timeline. You'll probably have to pick one and either downrez or upscale but of course the upscale won't look good at all. Search the forum as this is a common topic.

  • 24f and 60i on same timeline

I have a project shot on 2 cameras. It was all supposed to be at 1080/24p, but one camera got set to 1080/60i. Would it be better to work with this in a 60i sequence or a 24p sequence?
Are there any considerations I should take into account when I export for SD DVD? (i.e. de-interlacing - since some of my footage is interlaced and some is progressive - ignore it or deinterlace, or...?)
    Thanks.
    --Nathan Lawrence

Field dominance can be a big problem, not so much because of strobing but because of resolution loss. FCP will automatically de-interlace footage where field order of a footage doesn't match the sequence, but if your SD sequence is lower-field-first and your HD footage is upper-field-first, FCP will reduce resolution, then flip fields and throw another 50% of your resolution away.
Run some tests, but you might want to consider editing in an HD sequence and downconverting in Compressor afterwards.

  • Combining PDFs, how to get them the same size?

When I combine a scanned document with a typed word document into a single PDF, the scanned document saves as twice the size of the word document. How do I get them to combine and be the same size? (Length and width not file size). Thanks.

What are the sizes of the pages in the two files? You can check this by hovering the mouse at the bottom left of the PDF.

  • Combine the output and make the sum by article

In our company we have a lot of small orders (the customer orders every day the same articles) ->
we make just one bill at the end of the month.
Most customers don't wont the detail (to much paper) and therefore we have for the bill the possibility to just make the total bill (total per article...).
so we design the two print program (global bill) and (detail bill) to output RD00,
when we create a "Credit notes" for such a bill, we will get a  huge amount of paper (output type = BA00) -> so the question was if there was a standard program to combine the output and make the sum by article...
    Thanks.

A custom print program is what u need, what u can do is create a report program which takes input all the articles ( a range thru selection screen wud do) and then calculate their sum or whatevr according to ur requirement and collate them into an internal table and output a script form thru the report itself, so no need to attach output type and all that.

    Hi yashajmera,
Same script gets different results ,just as Greg said this may be related to the different rendering pages methods between different Internet Explorer versions.

We also can try to choose different view mode by F12 tool to have a check .

  • Create SP that returns value and at the same time displays query result in output window

I would like create an SP which will return the records from the table and also return value to my c# client application.
    For Example:
Select * from employee returns all the query results in output window.
Now I want to create an SP
    Create procedure Test
    As
    Declare @ret int,
    Select * from employee
set @ret = Select count(*) from employee
    if @ret > 0
    return 1
    else
    return 0
The above algo should return 1 0r 0 to c# client application and at the same time display all employees in sql query output window.
Can u pls help in this regard.

The above algo should return 1 0r 0 to c# client application and at the same time display all employees in sql query output window.
    Why?  and No!
Why?  Your procedure generates a resultset of some number of rows.  You check the resultset for the presence of rows to determine if "anything is there".  You don't need a separate value to tell you this.  Note that it helps
to post tsql that is syntactically correct.   While we're at it, if you just need to know that rows exist there is no need to count them since that does more work than required.  Simply test for existence using the appropriately-named function
"exists".  E.g., if exists (select * from dbo.employee).
No!  A stored procedure does not display anything anywhere.  The application which executes the procedures is responsible for the consumption of the resultset; it chooses what to do and what to display.
Lastly, do not get into the lazy habit of using the asterisk in your tsql code.  That is not best practice.  Along with that, you should also get into the following best practice habits:
    schema-qualify your objects (i.e., dbo.employee)
terminate every statement - it will eventually be required.

  • My colleague and I are working together (from separate MacBooks) to create an iBook for our students. We plan to work on sections separately and combine later. Must we use the SAME template to do so?

My colleague and I are working together (from separate MacBooks) to create an iBook for our students. We plan to work on sections separately and combine later. Must we use the SAME template to do so?

I'm not sure iBA reacts well to this type of editing, not to mention the cumbersome nature of trying to bring everything together in general.
I'd suggest a workflow where one book is handed off, instead. That, or, let the individuals involved create their basic content in Pages, then when ready, use iBA's Insert Pages Chapters menu to string them together. Best to work in a linear fashion and avoid adding/removing/adding/moving portions, etc.
If you must have separate authors, be sure to use the identical template and have them all properly trained up before going forward - trying this as a learning experience may result in an off-putting experience otherwise , with more time spent on chasing knots than on expressing writing skills, etc.

  • Displaying member and parent in same row

I'm using Hyperion Financial Reports and Web Analysis v9.3.1. How can I display a member parent and child name in the same row? The member selection is dynamically retrieving "Children of...(Inclusive)" and I want to see both parent and child displayed together.
It does not matter to me whether it is accomplished through member selection or some kind of function/formula. Even if the dynamic member selection does not work and members must be individually selected, I'll take what I can get.
    My desired output is below:
    .......................................Sales
    Arizona.....Phoenix..............$100
    ...............Scottsdale..........$90
    California...Los Angeles........$110
    ...............Sacramento........$75
(Sorry. This doesn't render well in plain text)
I will need to create this in both Financial Reports and Web Analysis, so advice for both would be greately appreciated.

Insert an other Sales column and make sure that will be the first column.
Now select the members in the corresponding rows where ever you needed. You can select [None] as a member selection if you don't want to
select members for some other combinations and you can put a customized 'no heading' for display.
Not sure if it exactly works for your need, I am just giving my idea!

  • Is there a way I can stream video from my 2012 AirMac to the Apple TV using airplay and at the same time stream the audio to an air speaker?

Is there a way stream video from a 2012 MacBook Air to a TV using Apple TV and at the same time steam the audio to an air speaker. Also the same question but using an ipad

You can try one thing. Follow these steps:
    1. On your Mac, turn on AirPlay Mirroring and connect it to the Apple TV, so audio and video will stream from the Apple TV.
    2. Turn off the sound of the TV where you have connected the Apple TV.
    3. Then, make sure that you have turned on the AirPlay speakers. Then, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose the external speakers, so sound will stream from these external speakers.
    This should work correctly

  • Why won't combined AND statement work

I want to exclude records based on two criteria's: status = 'M' and the status reason = 52.
The table contains records with status = 'M' and status reason other than 52.
Also the table contains records with status other than 'M' and status reason = 52 and I want to include those records.
I first tried using the statement below reasoning that placing the two criteria's in parenthesis would combine them and only exclude records with M 52
    Where (nvl(Status_CD,'A') <> 'M' AND nvl(STATUS_RESN_CD,0) <> 52 )
However the query removed all records with Status_CD 'M' and all records with Status_Resn_CD 52.
Using the Where Not statement worked.
    Where Not (External_Status_CD = 'M' and EXT_STAT_RESN_CD = 52 )
I’m curious why the first statement didn’t work?
Can anyone explain why the first query didn't combine the 2 statements but a Where Not did?
    Thank you - Mark

Another way of looking at it:
The condition (x AND y) will be TRUE when both x AND y are TRUE.
    If
    sub-condition x is    nvl (Status_CD, 'A') <> 'M'   and
    sub-condition y is  nvl (STATUS_RESN_CD, 0) <> 52
then any row with status_cd = 'M' fails sub-condition x, therefore the compound condition is FALSE, regardless of status_resn_cd.
Likewise, and row with status_resn_cd=52 fails sub-condition y, so the compound condition is FALSE regardless of status_cd.
You used status_cd and status_resn_cd in one example; but
EXTERNAL_status_cd and EXT_stat_resn_cd in the other.  That's quite confusing.  Also, you'll confuse everyone (including yourself) if status is abbreviated as stat in some places but not in others.  Either way is okay, but be consistent.  The same goes for abbreviating external as ext; pick one or the other, and use the same word in all places.
Don't forget to check for NULLs.  If  external_status_cd and ext_stat_resn_cd can be NULL, you should say
    Where Not (    NVL (External_Status_CD, 'A') = 'M'
              and  NVL (EXT_STAT_RESN_CD,    0)  = 52
    depending on your requirements.

How share image and link in same post  ?

    You can
share a link and share an image (as an image or
