Combining Files- getting conversion failed

I need to combine anywhere from 10-14 PDF's and when I do I get a conversion failed. Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't know if there is a file size limit or # of files to combine limit.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble converting files. Are you converting via the web interface, or through Adobe Reader? Do you have a large number of files in the root folder of your Files list on Acrobat.com?
Let's try these things for starters:
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Use a different browser.
Make sure that Reader is up-to-date by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
If you have a large number of files stored on Acrobat.com, move some of them into a subfolder.

Try extracting part of the file and see if the extracted part can be Exported. If so, repeat with the next set of pages. When done, try to load all into the first file.

Hi there,
It sounds like there may be an issue with the quality of the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equal, and especially those created from scanned documents can be problematic if the scan quality isn't the best. Is there a dark background on the PDF, or stray marks or smudges?
You can try converting with OCR disabled at outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But, while that's a good test to find out where the problem lies, you'll end up with a Word document that isn't editable, so it's not an optimal solution.

You can check the same under 'File > Properties> Security

File conversion error when combining files

Hello,
I am using Adobe Create to combine several files (both word and pdf) into a single pdf document. I have done this several times in the past with no problems. However today it won't allow me to combine any documents which are already in pdf format. The system generates an error for each of these documents as: "Conversion Failed". I am clearly not trying to convert them, but rather to combine them... Any ideas?

If you're combining both Word and PDF files into PDF, there is some conversion happening (with the Word docs, as they're converted into the combined PDF file). If you're getting the error when combining only PDF files--that's another story. It could be that one or more of the files that you're combining isn't in a supported format, or that Adobe PDF Pack is timing out before it can complete the conversion.
Does the error occur regardless of what files you try to combine?

Thanks for the reply. Actually, there was some issue with the "context menu" commands that occured during the last update. I called Adobe Customer Service and they fixed it by remotely accessing my computer. The also gave me a link which tells how to fix this if it happens in the future. I've copied it below just in case this happens to someone else. But thanks again for your reply!

Spaces getting trimmed in file content conversion

Hi all,
I am converting a flat file to an XML file by XI. The problem which i am facing in file content conversion is that the spaces in flat file data are getting trimmed to one space in the XML in SXMB_MONI.
The data in flat file is like SOUTHSEA and HANTS is having nearly 8 spaces.
But the data in XML is:
SOUTHSEA HANTS PO5 2LZ PO5 2LZ020327 i.e. in XML, there is only 1 space between SOUTHSEA and HANTS.
The following parameters i have used in file content conversion:
.keyFieldValue '*'
.fieldSeparator 'nl'
.fieldNames RECORD_DATA
.ignoreRecordsetName true
I am taking each record of the flat-file in a single record RECORD_DATA in XML.
So can anyone tell me why the big spaces are getting trimmed to a single space eg. between SOUTHSEA and HANTS etc.

what am I doing wrong --it's probably something stupid.
The data into XI is a ONE RECORD structure -- not a table etc.

But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external?Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

DNG conversion fail and Photoshop will not open my NEF files (Newbie question)

Two part question. First, I just recently installed photoshop CS4 to my (windows vista) computer and I go to upload NEF photos to bridge and I check the box that says "Convert to DNG" and when it finishs uploading it says "Files successfully copied, However, DNG conversion failed." It says it everytime and I don't know what to do about that.
Second part: I try to open my NEF files in photoshop it says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document." I am using a Nikon D90 and I don't know if that has anything to do with this. I apologize if this question is in the wrong forum, I am new to this and I thought maybe camera raw had something to do with this at least.

You need to update your Camera Raw plug-in to either version 5.2 or 5.3RC, as well as the new DNG converter. They are available on the Adobe download page, and there are complete instructions for installation available there.

A lot of the time the files can not be combined because of incompatible fonts, or at least font sets that could not be resolved. Maybe that will give you some direction to look at.

Conversion of 89 MB files to word fails continuous, but 22 MB files succeeds. Why?

I can convert 22 MB pdf files to Word without problems, but conversion of 89 MB pdf-files with same origin (ie NOT scanned) continue failing. The error message is “Conversion failed” when trying by the Web Browser method and “An error occurred when trying to access the service” when converting directly from Adobe Reader.The file size does not exceed Adobes limit 100 MB, so what is the problem and how can it be solved?

In addition, you mentioned Remote Desktop Servers are in a cluster setup, would you tell us how did you create the cluster?
As far as I know, with RD Connection Broker, we don’t need to create a cluster but just add multiple RD session hosts into one collection, then RD connection Broker would redirect sessions automatically.
