Combining files in single pdf file

After installing adobe acrobat 9 pro, I tried to opened the merged pdf file I had created in adobe 8 standard. I can see the combined folder in the "combine files" window, but I cannot open that file and expose the individual pdf files for sorting, removing, or adding. When I choose reuse files, I can also see the merged file names but cannot open any of them to reveal the individual files combined Any help would be appreciated

Try67's answer will work, but the best method is to use a second program, like Illustrator, FrameMaker or InDesign. Any desktop publishing program should work. If you have a WP program that will import pdfs, then you can use that as well. On the Mac, Word will do what you want, I am unsure if current versions of Word on the PC will import PDF files, previous versions did not support pdfs.

I'm using Windows XP, Acrobat 8 Professional, InDesign (CS3). Here is the problem: When trying to combine three InDesign files into one single PDF file with Acrobat 8, I get an error message saying something about expecting PDF default presents but get 'Standard'. I've gone into the InDesign files and set the presets to another setting but still get the same message. Quite confused as to how to fix this. Try exporting the files from within InDesign as PDF and them combine them in Acrobat.

Greetings! I'm on windows 7 professional, adobe 9 pro and a 64 bit PC. When I try to merge several PDF files from the same folder into a single PDF file I get this error message "You can choose multiple items only if they are all located in the same folder" - Please help! Thx.

The product is Acrobat, not Adobe. That being said, I suspect you may only be running AA 9.0 and that may be the issue. If you have not done the updates to the 9.5.5, you probably should. That may fix the issue you are having, particularly since you mentioned a 64-bit system.

I have now tried for hours, but now I give up!
MY WISH -
Create a Table of Contents (TOC) automatically after I have combined several pdf.files into a single pdf.file.
I have already bookmarks, shown on the screen (see screenshot below) but I want those bookmark to be visualised in a separate TOC in the top of the combined files.
This new TOC (which I have inserted) shall be printable and serve as a cover page in a binder.
I have seen other cheap pdf.programs in the market (e.g. PDF Converter Professional 7.3) which are able to make the above things, easy, fast and nice.

The thread was started in early March and it's Mid-April, I know this very well. The OP of this thread posted a very common and simple question or maybe he/she would have resolved this. For an Adobe Acrobat user it's not at all difficult to combine multiple PDF files into one. But to combine PDF files full version of Adobe Acrobat is mainly required, otherwise PDF files can't be combined. For example, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. These simple steps are mainly required to combine PDF files:
Open Adobe Acrobat.
Click on Combine and click on Merge files into a single PDF.
A window will be appearing, click on Add Files and select the PDF files you want to combine.
Arrange the selected files in any order with the help of Move Up and Move Down button.
Now click on Combine File and the selected PDF files will be combined within a few seconds.
A new PDF file will be created. Click on Save As and name this new PDF file. Then, click on Save.
A new PDF file will be created and all the selected PDF files are combined in it. The steps shown above might be different in other versions of Adobe Acrobat. Other than this, some third-party PDF merge software are also available. Most of them are available with a demo version for free evaluation. I've heard much about SysInfoTools PDF Merge software on other forums and directories and it's demo version is freely available. One may check its demo version if Adobe Acrobat (full version) is not available.

Use FM "RSPO_RETURN_ABAP_SPOOLJOB" to get the spool into internal table.
Append the internal table with data of another spool & then pass the internal table to the FM mentioned in above reply.

I am developing a custom object where in i need to read PDF file from many different Spools(Range given on Input Screen), where each spool has a single PDF page in it. I need to combine all these PDF Pages into a single PDF file & either create a new Spool or save it on an Application Server.

Acrobat 9 Pro Merge Files Into Single PDF

Just wanted to know if there's a way on Acrobat 9 Pro,i can select a folder using Merge Files Into Single PDF and have it merge each of the subfolders in the folder into separate single PDFs and have then retain the names of their corresponding subfolders? At the moment i'm having to do one folder at a time and then name them.

Thanks so very much - you have solved the problem.
I tried Document > Insert Pages and that worked.
I then ran the "Repair" feature on Adobe which installed a few updates and I am now also able to merge pdf's by using the "Combine" feature and all the pages show the text/info.

Merge Files In Single PDF

I have Acrobat 9 Pro (Windows XP) and am new at using the progam.
I had merged a few jpegs into a single PDF file but the originals did not remain in its original location in my computer.
Would someone be able to tell me if this is normal for this program?
Is there a revert feature to get the originals back?

I added files to the "Merge files into single PDF" menu and then clicked "Combine files". Went back to check in computer file and noticed the originals were not there. Would "combine files" mean deleting them? as I did not click any other button.
I was able to retrieve my jpegs from the single PDF file by exporting them back to its destination, as Bill said, so I have my originals back.

Convert portfolio to single pdf file

Hi, I have a portfolio of my email archive which I want to convert to a single pdf file. The way I'm doing it is by combining files and adding the portfolio file and then clicking combine, merge files into a single pdf, adding the portfolio and selecting single pdf file. This 'breaks up' the portfolio into its individual constituents which you can then combing into a single normal pdf file.
But there is a problem. In the portfolio the original date of the email is retained so you can sort the emails chronologically. However, when the portfolio is broken up the individual files are dated on the date the portfolio is created and so the new file is not sorted in the chronological send/receive order of the emails.
So my question is: how do I combine emails to a single pdf file in the chronological order of the emails?

Ps Since typing this message I've noticed that when printing all files in the portfolio it also doesn't print it in chronological order even though that's how they're sorted in the portfolio.

Something to try —
View the open Portfolio in the List or Basic Grid view.
Select all the files.
Select File > Sae Files from Portfolio > Use the Browse For Folder dialog to select a destination.
Click OK.
A copy of the Portfolio's files will be in the designated location.
Perform the Combine > Merge Files into a Single PDF action.

How do I create a single PDF file with multiple pages?

Hi, I occasionally need merge several jpg images into a single pdf file with multiple pages (one Jpg per page). I have tried doing this on Preview, and by selecting all the pages I want to include in my document and trying to save to Pdf through the "Print" function, but every time it only saves the first page.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to save multple-page pdf files without having to purchase a specific program (i to this too infrequently to justify the cost)?

This works for me...
Open first image in Preview View > Sidebar. Drag the other images into Sidebar, then select all.
From File menu > print selected images. Choose PDF > Save as PDF
