Combining files, page smaller

When I combine files of multiple pages, they all come out fine except one or two pages comes out very small. You have to zoom in to read it. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi,
Please check the original file's paper size before combining that file with others to single PDF file.
Thank you.

  • WHY CAN'T I COMBINE FILES WITH RIGHT CLICK ANY MORE? HOW LONG AM I EXPECTED TO WAIT BEFORE SWITCHING TO A COMPETITOR'S PRODUCT?

I used to be able to select a set of documents in the Windows file explorer, right click these highlighted documents, and then right click-->Combine Files in Acrobat.
This used to open the combine files page in Acrobat and I would be able to combine the files directly.
Now when I use right click to combine files in Acrobat it simply opens Acrobat. If I want to combine the files I have to go to Acrobat, select the option, and then navigate to the files.
This similar issue exists for edited PDFs. I used to be able to right click a document and select "Edit with Adobe Acrobat" and the document would open when this option was selected. Now if this option is selected it opens Adobe Acrobat and I have to navigate to any files I want to use.
How do I use the right click features in the file explorer? These features don't work any more and they used to.

    Hi
Could you please tell which Acrobat version you are using and also the OS- Windows 7 or 8.1?
Also can you please tell whether you are getting Acrobat specific combine and Edit options in the right - click menu?
If yes, are they working or nothing happens on clicking them?
If possible, can you also try to restart your system and then try Right-click -> combine files in Acrobat?
    Thanks

  • Splitting large video files into small chunks and combining them

    Hi All,
Thank you for viewing my thread. I have searched for hours but cannot find any information on this topic.
I need to upload very large video files. The files can be something like 10GB in size, currently .mpeg format but they may be .mp4 format later on too.
Since the files will be uploaded remotely using using internet from the clients mobile device (3G or 4G in UK) I need to split the files into smaller chunks. This way if there is a connection issue (very likely as the files are large) I can resume the upload without doing the whole 10gb again.
My question is, what can I use to split a large file like 10Gb into smaller chunks like 200mb, upload the files and then combine them again? Is there a jar file that I can use. i cant install stuff like ffmpeg or JMF on the clients laptops.
    Thank you for your time.
    Kind regards,
    Imran

There is a Unix command called split that does just that splits a file into chunks of a size you specify. When you want to put the bits bact together you use the command cat.
If you are comfortable in the terminal you can look at the man page for split for more information.
Both commands are data blind and work on binary as well as text files so I would think this should work for video but of course check it out to see if the restored file still works as video.

  • Why is my "Combined PDF" file size smaller than the original files?

    Hello!
I am trying to combine two individual PDF files into a single PDF. Each file is 32mb, however when I use acrobat to combine them, the newly created "combined" file is only 19mb. I believe I've taken the necessary steps to ensure no degradation is happening (i.e. selecting Large File Size in the options panel), but I am still puzzled as to how two files can be put together as one and be smaller than the two separate files with out any compression. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!

When you combine a file it does a "Save As" operation.  This re-writes all of the PDF object in the single file and is supposed to clean up the file, whereas the single files may have had multiple saves which when you look at the internals of the PDF file simply add on to the end of the file.  In other words you get a more cleanly written and optimized file that is also saved for Fast Web View.

  • Adobe Acrotbat X - when combining files, set the default bookmark to "full page" view

When combining multiple pdf files into a single file using the "Combine supported files in Acrobat.." feature (right click menu in explorer), the combined document contains bookmarks for each of the combined files - so far, so good.
However, all of the book marks are set to show a "page width" view of the file - no good.  I need to set the default bookmark to show the "full page" view when clicked.
I need to set this up as a default as there are too many bookmarks to go back and change individually.
How do I do this?  Either as a default, or to globally change the display view once the file is created?
Windows XP, Adobe Acrobat Pro X, version 10.1.4

Not possible with Acrobat. The defaults cannot be changed, and there is no way to alter the action of an existing bookmark via scripting so it can't be automated without a custom plugin (I don't know of one that does it out of the box).

  • Combined PDF page display speed difference between Acrobat 8 Pro and Acrobat X Pro

I have encountered a display speed issue with regards to combining Tiffs with Acrobat X Pro.  The Tiffs are between 200 KB and 600 KB.  Tested the issue by using a series of Tiffs originally combined using Acrobat 8 Pro but used Acrobat X Pro to combine them.  When I open the combined PDF files using X, I can cycle through the pages of the one created using 8 significatinly faster (i.e. about as fast as I can click) but the file created using X is significately slower.  Note: PDF file size is smaller using X (30.9 MB) than same combined files using 8 (46.1 MB).  Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

Found a Tips & Tricks document for Acrobat 8 which indicated the default Monochrome Compression setting for Acrobat 8 is CCITT G4.  Recreated the combined PDF file from the original Tiffs using X Pro with the modified setting and works like a charm.  Thanks for the point in the right direction.

  • Combining Dreamweaver pages?

Hello, i have about 9 pages in total for Jquery Mobile in dreamweaver. This will be for a mobile application. I was wondering how do i combine the pages to make them work in unison?
I have my homepage buttons linked to all the other pages ive created, but i dont know what to do next. So i have all my content, pages, ect. Now what do i do with the 10 pages sitting my folder after i have linked the buttons, added the content ect? I am not sure how to get it ready to publish now that most things are completed, i think, in dreamweaver.
Is this where Phonegap comes in ?

I have a different although related issue. I run Acrobat 9 pro on a mac.
In addition I have a windows based software program on another PC that creates large charts for family history which are then printed on a continuous plotter. However it is configured to max length of 9 feet or approx 274cm. So when I have charts (complete with lines and boxes full of names linking everyone) greater than 9 feet long I end up with a PDF file with two or more pages. The output I am seeking is one continuous seamless plot so I'd like to a) combine the pages into one [i managed this] and b) more importantly remove the small gap and page break dotted lines [say a cm or so] between the pages and line up the charting lines and boxes. any ideas please?

  • How do i combine single pages into documents with Adobe?

How do i combine single pages into documents with Adobe?

    Hi zebideeplus,
Using Reader, you need to purchase subscription for Adobe PDF Pack  to combine PDF files into single document.
Refer: Acrobat.com Help | Adobe PDF Pack FAQ
But, if you need to combine single pages, then it can be done with Adobe Acrobat only.
Let me know if you have further queries.

  • In Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, is there a way to set defaults when combining files?

My specific problem;  When I combine files, Adobe creates the bookmarks (which is desirable).  These bookmarks however, always seem to default on "page width" view.  I would prefer to have the bookmarks set to "fit page".  It is very cumbersome to edit each bookmark to reset the view.  (this is another issue which should be addressed as well).
My preferences already are set to view the files in fit page, single page, however this setting does not seem to transfer to the combined file.
Is there a way to globally set the preferences for this?  Even the settings during the combining function do not give options for the page view settings.

There isn't a way to set this during the Combine process but it's easy to change all the bookmarks in one go using the following technique:
Open the bookmark navigation pane and select all the bookmarks (be sure to expand all subbookmarks).
Right-click and choose Properties from the context-sensitive menu.
Click the Actions tab and choose Execute a menu item from the dropdown.
Click the Add button and choose View > Zoom > Zoom to Page Level and click OK.

  • Error Message when Combining Files to PDF in Acrobat XI-Pro

    Hi!
I am trying to combine multiple CAD files to PDF and keep encountering an error message.
I'm using the Combine Files to PDF, dragging in the corresponding files (.DWG files) into Acrobat and then clicking the Combine button. They convert to PDF but a dialog box immediately pops up:
As I'm the person creating the .pdf document and am using Acrobat XI-Pro to do so, what am I doing wrong to continue to receive this message?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi TTownWriter,
Try creating a combined file as follows :
    - Open one of the files .
    - Open thumbnail pane of the file via Left hand tools pane .
    - Go to options and Insert the second(or subsequent) files to the opened file using "Insert Pages" menu option.
    - Save the file.
    Refer the screenshot.

  • Bug in Automator's Combine PDF Pages action?

    Hi guys,
I've been playing around with 10.6's new Automator and Services. I decided to make an Automator Service so that if I have some PDFs selected in Finder, I can combine all the pages into one PDF and save it to a location. So I created the following service:
    * Get Selected Finder Items
    * Combine PDF Pages (appending pages)
    * Move Finder Items (to Desktop by default, show this action when the workflow runs)
    * Rename file (comes up as Name Single Item in Finder Item Names, show this action when the workflow runs)
I tested this in Automator by selecting some PDFs on my desktop and hitting the Run button; everything worked out well. So I saved it as an Automator Service, only available for PDF files but in all applications (drop down lists at the top of the Automator window).
I noticed however when I ran this workflow as a service, the pages in the resulting PDF file is actually duplicated. For example, if I had page 1 in page1.pdf, and page 2 in page2.pdf, running the service on these two files will produce a PDF with the following pages: page 1, page 2, page 1, page 2.
Does this happen to anyone else in here, or is it just me? I tried saving the workflow as an application, placed it in the Dock, and then dropped my test files on it and it does the same thing. And this happens with other PDF files too.
Is this a bug? Can someone confirm that it happens on their machine too?
    Thanks.

Anyone? It doesn't take long to create an Automator workflow with the 4 actions above. Probably 2 minutes max. Can someone test on their machine?
I tried to do the same with my MBP, which I also upgraded to Snow Leopard, and it does the same thing there. For some reason, it works perfectly when the workflow is run within Automator, but when it's exported as an Application or a Service, it duplicates pages.
I tried to submit a bug report to Apple, but I couldn't log in with my current Apple ID -- it shows me an error page to submit a bug report! That's what I've been trying to do in the first place, but it seems the bug report process has bugs that they want you to report on. Chicken and egg scenario methinks.

  • 2Sided Original 1Sided ADF Scanner -Combine PDF Pages -  Data Error?

I just purchased a scanner with an Auto Document Feeder, ADF, of 25 pages after trying to use it I found out through the company that it only scans one side. I have another ADF scanner where the software allows the user to flip the pages over and then reinserts them for the final PDF file. Instead of spending more on a double sided scanner I figured I would create a program using Automator.
The script I created worked a few times but after some tweaking it stopped.
The problem is just before the Combine PDF Pages where I have two "Get Value of Variables" which I set as PDF Documents at the beginning of the script.
    The log reads before and at the point of error;
Conversion from Files/Folders (com.apple.applescript.alias-object) to PDF files com.apple.applescript.alias-object.pdf) completed.
. ! The action "Combine PDF Pages" was not supplied with the required data.
The variables are showing the entire path to include the filename and extention of my selected PDFs, but the log above the error seems to change the variable to the appropriately desired object.
? What I need to do to correct this error because it seemed to work earlier by using variables?
The script would be useful for any type of ADF scanner that outputs one-sided to PDFs and the originals are two-sided.
    Your help is appreciated.

I have been working in Automator for this program and saved it as an Applescript plug-in for the Scripts Menu. I don't have to have it as a script I just need it to work.
The pecular thing was while testing the program in Automator before exporting it to the plug-in the program was skitish meaning that at first it didn't work then I added 'view results' and then afterwards it seemed to work. After this I removed 'view results' and it worked then I exported it but since then I can't get it to work again even after reinserting 'view results'.

  • Combining files to create a PDF - stalls, then doesn't work

My organization has just pushed out Office 2013, and one person has had trouble when she combines files to create a pdf. At first, it seems like the process works, but when it comes to the "Merging Files" stage, it hangs up - it doesn't even finish converting the first file. It stays like this for a very long time, then a small pop-up comes up and says "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command."
The reason I bring up Office 2013 is because before we pushed it out, it worked just fine with either the 2010 and 2007, and now I'm wondering if this problem is occurring because of our recent 2013 installations.

    suicot,
Did you ever find a solution to this problem?  I have the same issues.  I can get maybe 3 files (word/excel) to start (slowly) converting then the the stall happens.   Also, Acrobat opens the word / excel application each time it attempts to convert a file, then word/excel freezes and I have to force a close.  What a mess!  (Windows 8.1 / Acrobat X Pro)

  • Acrobat 8: How to prevent "Combine Files" from adding a header?

    Hi All.
I am using Acrobat 8 (Win XP SP II) and am having a problem with the "Combine Files" feature. In the past, I've used this function to create hundreds of PDF files from thousands of individiual PDF's. It worked great. But now, suddenly, Acrobat increases the landscape page height from 8.5 to 8.8 inches, and then adds a header containing document name and date info.
I don't want this header. I've looked all over Acrobat and Distiller and converter preferences but can't seem to find how to shut this feature off. Can anyone help me?
To see an example, go to:

    Many Thanks!
    Gary Wedemayer

I have multiple single-page PDF files lying in a folder; I hit Files-->Combine Files, select the relevant PDF files, and let it rip using any of the quality settings (low, medium, high- makes no difference).
But I see nothing in the Combine Files dialog box that is relevant to this kind of header, so it must be hidden somewhere else. Can't find it for the life of me, tho!
If I have to I'll revert back to Acrobat 6.0 or write a Javascript to combine the files for me, but I know I can do it straight up in Acrobat 8 'cos I've done it many times before.
    Thanx.
