Combining form files

I have 286 separate pdf form files that I need to combine to one pdf file so that I can export the text into a spreadsheet. Problem is that when I combine the files, Acrobat replaces the data on the forms with the data from the first file. For example, one of the fields is 'Name'. When i combine the files, Acrobat fills in the name from the 1st file to all 286 pages of the combined pdf. Obviously this is a big problem. Does anyone know of a remedy for this problem?

Thank you so much! It looks like this function SHOULD do exactly what I need it do; but, there is a bug in the function. When I run it, it only enters the name of each file in the spreadsheet. Adobe is looking into it and gave me a case# to check back for a fix in 24-48 hrs. Hopefully they can fix the issue.   Thank you again!

  • I purchased the Adobe PDF Pack but it won't allow me to convert any files to pdf or combine multiple files to into 1 pdf form. It keeps saying "Error occurred while trying to access the file". WHY

I purchased the Adobe PDF Pack for $7.50/month (or $89.99/yr) but it won't allow me to convert any files to pdf or combine multiple files into 1 pdf form. It keeps saying "An error occurred while trying to access the service". WHY is this happening & How can I fix it?

    Hi hpmg,
It seems you are trying to access the service via Adobe Reader. Make sure you are signed in with your Adobe ID. Is Reader updated to the latest patch v 11.0.09?
It might be possible that a firewall or antivirus might be breaking the connectivity from Reader to the server.
Try accessing the service from the browser: https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf  and check if that works for you.

  • Good day, I have installed Acrobat DC, and would like to combine 2 files. One is excel allready converted to PDF - No problem. The other one is from Pastel mailed as PDF.

    Good day,
I have installed Acrobat DC, and would like to combine 2 files. One is excel allready converted to PDF - No problem. The other one is from Pastel mailed as PDF.
When trying to merge the files, this file ask for a Password. No password was issued from the setup or mail?

    Good day abrieb93050306,
I can understand your concern, however can you please let me know that are you able to open both the PDF files ( the one you converted form excel to pdf & the other pdf that was mailed to you ) individually without using any password?
As it asks for the password, it means that the postal mailed PDF is password protected. You can ask for the password from the sender of the postal mail & then try to combine the files.
Please follow the steps in the provided KB doc.to combine the files : Combine files into single PDF | Adobe Acrobat DC tutorials
This will probably resolve your issue.
Let me know if you still experience any issue.

  • Hiding filenames when combining multiple files into a single .pdf

I'm fairly new to this Acrobat X. I'm trying to assemble my portfolio to distribute to employers but I cannot seem to get rid/hide the filenames in the final pdf file. I was using the option to 'combine multiple files into a single pdf' because I was compiling images and documents to a single readable pdf file. I got all that done but once I open it, I'd see that each page would still contain the original file names rather than page numbers - which I prefer not to have employers see for the sake of tidiness (and I refuse to use the Adobe portfolio because it's not really efficient on space or design. I prefer a simple page-by-page pdf). So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to hide my file names, change them into page numbers or getting rid of them all together so the 'Table of Contents' in the pdf preview mode would not show anything, I would really much appreciate it.
    -Ss

Well, when the .pdf is in the final, deliverable form; I open it in Mac preview mode and the sidebar is always extended showing a 'table of contents' rather than having each document in the pdf file have a number designating a page name, it shows each individual filename the pdf is composed of. Not too sure about bookmark, though. Thanks for the reply!
If you want, I can send the file to you.

  • Combine PDF Files created in Designer

In Acro 7, you can combine PDF files into 1 file (Document-Insert). When the PDF is created in Designer, these choices are greyed out. Is there a work around?

No. You cannot do any edits in Acrobat on Designer forms. Also,
combining Acrobat forms rarely gives the results people expect!

  • Can't combine some files

I am trying to combine about 30 PDFs but am getting 3 error messages. Two files says they are restricted and can't be combined. The 3rd file is a form fillable and the error message says something about XML.
How can I fix this? These files really need to be combined and I can't leave out any of them.
    Thanks!

From the restricted files you must first remove the security settings before you can combine them.
You can't combine forms created with LiveCycle Designer with other PDF documents.
You can use a portfolio or package.

  • I combine 3 different invoices to create a single file, when it is done combining the files, all three invoices are the same, but i picked 3 different invoices, why does it do that?

i combined 3 different invoices to create a single file, when the program is done combining the files it makes all the invoices the same,it does not have the other 2 invoices in it,makes 3 copies of the first invoice, why does it do that?

I was having the same problem.  The trick is to flatten the forms before combining.  It is in the tools - print production menu.  If print production isn't there click on where I am indicating with the top blue arrow.

  • Acrobat XI Pro: Text boxes empty after combining PDF files

I have a user when she combines a few documents only one document is missing some text in text boxes that were showing up before.  Here is a screen shot of the two files:
The document on the left is what occurs after the files have been combined, the document on the right is the original document.  I spoke with tech support, they told me to take the original pdf document then print it to the adobe pdf printer and select the option to print it as an image.  Then when we combined the files it was working fine.  I also took the original Excel 2010 document that the right document in the image came from, printed that to the Adobe PDF printer and made sure it printed it as an image.  Then after combining them it worked once more.  My problem is the user didn't have to print the excel doc to an image, she would just have to click on the Acrobat tab in Excel and tell it to create a pdf doc.  So is there a setting I'm missing?

I tried uninstalled Acrobat XI and installed Acrobat X but the problem still exists.  I spoke with my user some more and found that if she leaves out one of the documents from the combining process this issue does not occur. So either this is a font incompatibility or that document that was left out is corrupt.  Any thoughts?

  • Merge and Combine PDF files in a numerical order

    Greetings!
I'm using Adobe Acrobat to create a photo LookBook or an eBook. I'm importing and merging straight from .JPEG's and Acrobat work's great. The JPEG's are sorted by capture date, renamed and numbered as such: "10_File.Name.jpg". However, once I attempt to merge over 100 files I noticed that the numerical order of the file names is wrong. You'll notice in the example below that when viewed by name, the three digit numbers begin after 10. Well, in this example it's twelve. This affects to page order of the combined .PDF file. How can I maintain consistent name order to avoid assembling the finished ebook by implementing two workflow steps. Meaning the first step to combine the double digit numbers, then the second step to combine the three digit numbers. What can I do to resolve this issue?
    Greatly appreciated!

    Try it with a leading zero ( 003_, 007_, 008_, 010_, 011_, and 012_ ).
    Be well...

  • Can't combine Excel files in Adobe Pro

I can currently convert an .xlsx file within Excel to a .pdf with no issues. However, I need to be able to combine multiple files in Adobe, a large portion of which are excel files. I was able to do this without any issues until a few days ago. Now I can no longer see Excel files listed as supported when trying to combine.
I've tried repairing the install, but that didn't help.

In which dialog are you not seeing the Excel file type? If you type *.* can you see it? What version of Acrobat and OS are you running?
Have you attempted to repair your Office appication to correct the file association?

  • Combine supported files... problem (Word 2007, Acrobat 9, Windows 7)

    Windows 7; Word 2007; Acrobat Pro 9
Print > Adobe PDF within Word produces pdf file that faithfully reproduces the Word file (that is, this process works as expected).
RClick context menu 'Combine supported files in Acrobat' produces output characterized by incorrect letter spacing and incorrect typeface (font) output among other issues.
Various possible resolutions have been tried with no success (PDFMaker option changes, output resolution (dpi) changes and so forth).
The same results are obtained when using the combine feature from within Acrobat Pro.
Thanks for any and all help.

Footnotes in tables were the problem with my doc as well.  I tried the option of saving the doc as a Word 2003 file, but it didn't help.  I chatted with Adobe Customer Service and was provided this fix:
In Word 2007, click on the Acrobat ribbon
In the "Create Adobe PDF" panel, click on "Preferences"
In the "Settings" tab, under "Application Settings," UNCHECK the box next to "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"
After that, I was able to create the PDF, and the table of contents and external hyperlinks all worked.  The footnotes were no longer hyperlinked, but since they're on the same page as the items they're referencing, that's not really a problem.  Cheers,
    JG

  • "Combine supported files in Acrobat" right-click funtion is slow or locks up system since upgrade to Office 2013

I have several admins who have for years combined quantities of large Word documents into a single PDF by highlighting them, right-clicking, and selecting "Combine supported files in Acrobat."  Until recently, they were all using Office 2010 Pro Plus and a variety of versions of Acrobat - Standard 9, Professional 9, Standard 10.  They said it was quick and painless.  We've recently deployed Office 2013 Pro Plus, and they are complaining that doing the same thing they've always done is either completing but yeilding only the first document in the resulting PDF or rendering their systems unresponsive.  I have reproduced their issues and have found some evidence online of Possible incompatibilities between Office programs and the Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin add-in, however Adobe's list of Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications indicates that Office 2013 supports PDFMaker versions as old as Acrobat 6, and we are not that outdated.  Any suggestions?  This is crippling their productivity.
    Thanks!
    Carrie

Only the updated Acrobat XI supports Office 2013. The updates are necessary to address the changes to OFFICE introduced after Acrobat XI was released (OFFICE 2013 is more recent than the original AA XI release). No other versions of Acrobat can be used with OFFICE 2013 other than printing to the Adobe PDF printer.

  • Combine supported files is not automatically opening and closing source applications?

On my Vista 64 machine, suddenly, the "Combine supported files in Acrobat" has begun malfunctioning. Instead of automatically opening and closing the source application (such as MS Word), Acrobat opens the application and then asks to save a new PDF file for each source file and stalls out the conversion. This problem is not happening on my Win XP machine. I have used the 'Repair Acrobat Installation' function but the problem is not corrected.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Just to close out this thread, the bug was fixed with the latest version of Acrobat Pro Extended (9.3.3).

  • Acrobat 7 freezes when combining multiple files

I'm running Acrobat 7 Standard, and whenever I attempt to combine multiple PDF files acrobat will freeze up completely. It can scan, and add pages to an open document with no trouble. It will freeze whether I choose Create PDF From Multiple Files within acrobat, or if I select multiple files in windows explorer, then right click and choose Combine in Acrobat...
I have cleared temporary files, repaired the program, and completely reinstalled the program. Even after a fresh reinstallation, it will lock up when trying to combine multiple files. It does everything else just fine.
I am running a HPCompaq dc5100 MT, with Windows XP Pro. I have 2GB ram, and a P4 3.2Ghz processor. I also have a database program called Laserfiche that I run, though this problem occurs whether I have Laserfiche open or not. I've already tried killing all acceptable processes (minus adobe's of course) and recreated the error. I've also tried this with the most recent update 7.1.0 and without: both yeild the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear all,
I think I have the same problem... or not ?!
=> When I try to open multiple files at the same time it opens only the 2 or 3 first ones then it freezes on the Spinning Beach Ball of Death !
=> Then it never completely finishes loading and freezes up Indesign.
=> I am unable to cancel the dialog box and have to use cmd+alt+esc to close the program
=> then, the files open directly on indesign when I open the program again (jus as if the files had been loaded and ready to go)
I am working on MAC OS X (10.7.3)
Anybody could help please ?? (sorry for my english... I'm a French native speaker)
