Combining help files

I was under the impression that you could combine different AIR help files and access them through the AIR help viewer. Is that correct? Can anyone point me to any information about how to do that?

  • Merge/combine video files. help

I have quite a few files that I would like to merge into one big file. I already downloaded Prism Video Converter to convert the files, but now I'm not sure how to combine them into one. On the main download page for Prism Video Converter is says that you will be able to combine many files into one. Well I've looked through a lot and really can't figure out where/how to do this. The provider of Prism isn't even giving many any answers and won't unless I pay; but the catch is it didn't say I'd have to pay to combine files. What can I do?
Is there a better program to use? I am not really concerned with a cost, free would be nice, but it isn't necessary. I just want to be sure my quality stays in good shape.
    Thanks.

I know QT player will play AVI when Perian codecs are installed. I also know my ancient version of QT Pro will edit .mov. I can't guarantee anything but I think getting Quicktime Pro might let you do what you want to do. I don't have any version of QT Pro more recent than about 1997.
    Edit:
QT Sync is a freeware utility that has a combine movies tool. I haven't used it so I don't know how successful it is. You might give it a try (and report back here ).
AVIs might present problems. AVI is a container so it doesn't have a rigid set of formats for the enclosed tracks. AVI often has mp3 as the audio format which is not something used by Macs for audio with video. I can't speak from experience but it wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't find an editor to accept AVI with mp3 audio. One thing to check though is MPEGstreamclip. I notice my copy had an additional feature for letting you save AVIs from Quicktime Pro.
If you are trying to play a group of videos then one solution might be not to edit them but to use a player that will string together a set of videos when playing. Maybe something like NicePlayer might help.

  • Can't combine Excel files in Adobe Pro

I can currently convert an .xlsx file within Excel to a .pdf with no issues. However, I need to be able to combine multiple files in Adobe, a large portion of which are excel files. I was able to do this without any issues until a few days ago. Now I can no longer see Excel files listed as supported when trying to combine.
I've tried repairing the install, but that didn't help.

In which dialog are you not seeing the Excel file type? If you type *.* can you see it? What version of Acrobat and OS are you running?
Have you attempted to repair your Office appication to correct the file association?

  • Combine supported files... problem (Word 2007, Acrobat 9, Windows 7)

    Windows 7; Word 2007; Acrobat Pro 9
Print > Adobe PDF within Word produces pdf file that faithfully reproduces the Word file (that is, this process works as expected).
RClick context menu 'Combine supported files in Acrobat' produces output characterized by incorrect letter spacing and incorrect typeface (font) output among other issues.
Various possible resolutions have been tried with no success (PDFMaker option changes, output resolution (dpi) changes and so forth).
The same results are obtained when using the combine feature from within Acrobat Pro.
Thanks for any and all help.

Footnotes in tables were the problem with my doc as well.  I tried the option of saving the doc as a Word 2003 file, but it didn't help.  I chatted with Adobe Customer Service and was provided this fix:
In Word 2007, click on the Acrobat ribbon
In the "Create Adobe PDF" panel, click on "Preferences"
In the "Settings" tab, under "Application Settings," UNCHECK the box next to "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"
After that, I was able to create the PDF, and the table of contents and external hyperlinks all worked.  The footnotes were no longer hyperlinked, but since they're on the same page as the items they're referencing, that's not really a problem.  Cheers,
    JG

  • Acrobat 7 freezes when combining multiple files

I'm running Acrobat 7 Standard, and whenever I attempt to combine multiple PDF files acrobat will freeze up completely. It can scan, and add pages to an open document with no trouble. It will freeze whether I choose Create PDF From Multiple Files within acrobat, or if I select multiple files in windows explorer, then right click and choose Combine in Acrobat...
I have cleared temporary files, repaired the program, and completely reinstalled the program. Even after a fresh reinstallation, it will lock up when trying to combine multiple files. It does everything else just fine.
I am running a HPCompaq dc5100 MT, with Windows XP Pro. I have 2GB ram, and a P4 3.2Ghz processor. I also have a database program called Laserfiche that I run, though this problem occurs whether I have Laserfiche open or not. I've already tried killing all acceptable processes (minus adobe's of course) and recreated the error. I've also tried this with the most recent update 7.1.0 and without: both yeild the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear all,
I think I have the same problem... or not ?!
=> When I try to open multiple files at the same time it opens only the 2 or 3 first ones then it freezes on the Spinning Beach Ball of Death !
=> Then it never completely finishes loading and freezes up Indesign.
=> I am unable to cancel the dialog box and have to use cmd+alt+esc to close the program
=> then, the files open directly on indesign when I open the program again (jus as if the files had been loaded and ready to go)
I am working on MAC OS X (10.7.3)
Anybody could help please ?? (sorry for my english... I'm a French native speaker)

    Hi:
How can I edit MPEG or convert DVD or MPEG to DV
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/%7Eshmhav/SVCDon_a_Macintosh.html#edit_convertMPEG
Matti says it better than any of us:
how/where you can join clips with Streamclip
Also MPEG Streamclip guide explains it.
MPEG Streamclip can join similar MPEG files: The joined files must have the same PIDs, the same start codes, and the same audio/video properties (that is, they must come from the same source or channel).
Using "Convert to MPEG" before joining the files can be helpful, because it changes PIDs and start codes to a default value. The preferred method to join streams is to Copy one stream in MPEG Streamclip, open another stream and Paste it there. This method checks that the joined streams indeed are compatible. Another method is to put the MPEGs in the same folder, and rename them so that they sort as desired in list view. Then select them via MPEG Streamclip's "File/Open Files..." dialog box (Shift- or Command-click to select multiple MPEGs). Then choose "Edit/Fix Timecode Breaks". After this MPEG Streamclip should report the combined length of all MPEGs (check the Log Window if you want to know whether any timecode breaks were found). Then choose "File/Convert to MPEG... or /Save As..." to save them in a single file. If the video transition between two files looks bad, you can use the Cut command to improve it. You can join very different and incompatible MPEGs with this latter method so the end result is not guaranteed to work.
MPEG Streamclip can also edit MPEG files. Just set In/Out points (with I/O keys), Cut unwanted material off and choose "File/Convert to MPEG...". You can also Cut/Copy selections to other parts of the same stream or open another compatible stream and Paste it there. Shift-dragging the playhead can also be used to define a selection. Option + arrow keys jump to the beginning/end or In/Out points. You can use the Trim-command to more closely see a part of the video before cutting, then choose Revert Trimming to see all material. JKL-keys can be used to enable fast forward or reverse playing. The scroll wheel works also; with the Option key it scrolls 1 second per click. See the manual for more details on how to jump in single frame, GOP, 1 second, 10 second or 1 minute chunks when searching a specific spot in the video.
Editing and trimming can be accurate only if In and Out are both on keyframes because MPEG Streamclip edits to the GOP, not to the frame. For DVD and (XS)VCD the maximum GOP size is PAL 15 and NTSC 18 frames, so the editing accuracy can be up to about 0.6 seconds. You can advance to the previous or next keyframe (i.e. I-frame, the beginning of each GOP or Group Of Pictures) with the Up/Down arrow keys -- you can also use the Edit/Go to Keyframe command to see where the In and Out points really are when editing (the In point is included in the selection, the Out point is not included). Shift + Up/Down arrow keys allow fine-tuning the selection to the GOP.

  • Combine supported files in acrobat missing in acrobat x pro when I right click drop down menu

combine supported files in acrobat missing in adobe x pro when I right click drop down menu also Convert to Adobe PDF is missing too.  The open with & share with options are gone too when I right click files.  My computer crashed & I had to have the motherboard replaced.  The tech store put some of my programs back on my compter but not sure how or if they did stuff correctly.  Need help fixing my problem becasue I use this all the time.  Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I got a new PC, insalled Acrobat X pro and when I right click on an Office file, I could not combine or convert Office files to PDF. I upgraded to Acrobat XI and still no fix. I triled to convert or combine office files to PDF from within Acrobat and I get an error message saying "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF Portfolio option".
I've tried to convert or combine Office 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 files and none work. The weird thing is that the option shows up for Excel .csv files. Even more werid is that I have the PDF tabs showing in the Office applications.
I contacted Adobe support via chat and they were unable to help. I was directed here, so any help would be great.
    Thanks.

  • Combined pdf files with garbage fonts

I need help with creating a combined pdf document.  I start with word 2013, and use the styles to create a linked table of contents.  Then Save As to a pdf.  I deselect the Options to allow the links to work in the pdf format.  Then I add other pdf's created from word, excel or AutoCAD.  Finally I add outside pdf's from other sources (i.e. manuals) to complete the combined pdf.  Some, not all of my AutoCAD pdf's will have text changes, boxes or the letter L, basically gibberish.  I did recently change computers from a desktop to a laptop.  Running windows 8 and upgraded Acrobat Pro from X to XI.  This is extremely frustrating as it just recently seemed to start doing this.  I work for a manufacturing firm and have created combined pdf files to distribute to customers, vendors, etc. on a regular basis, and this just started.  I don't know how to fix it.  Please help

  • Size of pages in combined pdf files

How can I keep the combined pdf files from changing sizes in the newly created pdf. If the combining tool doesn't allow me to save the original pdf file size, it's of very little use to me. Can someone help me ?

You are saying that the PDF pages change size when combined? Ok, what were the sizes before and after? You can check the exact size by holding the mouse at the extreme bottom left of the page until the size appears.

  • The "combine supported files in Acrobat..." option either disappears or doesn't work

I have tried searching for an answer on this with no joy!
We have documents that we regularly produce here that are a mixture of Word, Excel and PDF documents, all combined into 1 PDF. Currently we have to convert each document into PDF individually, then combine these into 1 large PDF.I have tried several different file types for the word documents (i.e. .doc .docx .dot) and in every case either the  "combine supported files in Acrobat..." option disappears from the right click menu, or after moving to the 2nd page in the "combine files wizard" under "Warnings/Errors" they come up with the error "cannot convert file type to PDF. Please remove this file from list."
This is happening on several PCs, some with version 8 and some with version 9 of adobe. We are using office 2007 in case this is relevent?
Any ideas how we can change this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Tom

    Hey TomHawes,
I checked for the same. The .dot file extension does not support the option for 'Combine files to Acrobat' when combined with other .doc and .docx files.
You might need to first convert it into PDF and then combine it with other files.

  • The function to combine pdf files and the function to add bookmarks stopped working in 10.x

We had VBA scripts in Access 2003 running with Acrobat 7.0 standard version to combine pdf files and to add bookmarks. The scripts worked fine. Now we installed 10.x and the functions stopped working. Does anyone share the same experience?
In the scripts, we just call the OLE object with the code like:
        Set acroOrigPdfDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
        Set acroNewPdfDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
Then we have the call "acroOrigPdfDoc.InsertPages" and "acroOrigPdfDoc.Save" to save the combined pdf files. All these functions work fine under 7.x. Under 10.x, they stopped working without any error messages.
    Can anyone help me?

  • Combine ppt files into pdf - picture issue

    Hello All,
we are trying to combine several ppt files into one pdf document . Joining process went correctly, but some pictures in the final pdf are broken. If we try to save separate file to pdf, there is no issue. This issue is visible only during marging several ppts files into pdf. Please, do somebody know, where shoold be a problem ? (Office 2013, Adobe Acrobat XI)
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Peter

    Hi Peter Drgon,
One possible solution would be to replace the broken images of the combined pdf with original ones.
You can select the particular broken images from your ppt file and convert them to pdf,
then import that image containing pdf into your combined pdf file and later you can use 'edit text and images' tools to replace the broken Image in your combined pdf file.
Does that help? If you face any challenges or if i have misinterpreted your issue. Please let me know.
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • My links don't work when I combine another file with the pdf

My internal bookmarked links don't work when I combine another file with the pdf.
The external links continue to work fine, though.
This doesn't make any sense to me at all ... but I'm hoping one of you kind folk can help?

I opened my file and instead of merging files I used insert pages and inserted all of the pages from the file I wanted.  Then I saved the file with
the same name.  Attached is a rough draft of some helpful hints I put together.  This has been a very painful process for us to discover how to handle
this and there really is not much help from Adobe.
Instead of merging files you inset pages. In Acrobat select Document - Insert pages -From file. You can select all pages or some and where you want them inserted. After you do that save the file not save as and all of your links should work. If you combine files or merge files all of the links will break.

I think it's something to do with naming, but I can't figure out what. This is because it asks to be saved and gives me a Binder no as the name. If I
press Cancel at that point, I keep the file and the links. But as soon as I need to close it, it asks me again 'Do you want to save this file' and if
I say 'Yes', I lose all the links, and if yet if I say 'No', I lose the whole file. So at some point it has to be saved but whether I keep the Binder
no name when I save it, or use the original name, it makes no difference ... it is in the saving of it that it looks the functionality, and yet, if I
don't save it, I lose the file.
This makes no sense to me....I hope it does to one of you.
For instance, Christine, how did you keep your file if you couldn't save it?
    Or have I misunderstood?

  • How to combine multiple files in CS6

I am trying to combine multiple files-- book chapters-- into a single editable document in CS6. Tutorials apprea outdated

following on from Sandee Cohen's post no.18, the location of the script has moved to:
    http://www.simonwiscombe.com/indesign-merging-all-files/
and it is worth noting that the script initially merged files that were all 1pp long each.
Simon did make a modification to it later on in the article so that the script would merge files of all lengths, but when I ran the script, it produced an error to do with line 18. The line:
    var sourceFolder = Folder.selectDialog(“Select a folder with source InDesign files.”);
    needs to be replaced with
    var sourceFolder = Folder.selectDialog('Select a folder with source InDesign files.');
(double quotes were swapped out for single quotes)
I have only tested the script with varying page lengths with minimal objects on the pages to determine if the files merged. So far so good. The earlier version that merged 1pp files only would fail if fonts/links were missing as any dialog box upon opening seems to interfere with the script. I feel that the newer script will do the same thing.
I know this is an older thread but given I just had the same experience, I thought the revised script would help a few people.
