Combining .prel files into a large movie

I have edited several soccer video and now want to combine and reorder the clips into a season highlights video, but I can't find a way to bring the .prel files together.  Please help!

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
You cannot open one Premiere Elements project file (project.prel) in another Premiere Elements project.
And you cannot open Premiere Elements Windows project files in Premiere Elements Mac or vice versa.
Two possibilities for Premiere Elements projects (same computer operating system)....
a. Export your TImeline content from one project to a file format consistent with the second project's project settings and import that export into the second project .
b. Windows Only. Do a Copy/Paste Insert from one project to another using ClipMate in Conjunction with Premiere Elements.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: ClipMate Copy/Paste Between Projects
Please review and consider and supply full details of the projects and files involved if you need help with the settings for "a".
Do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on the above.
Thank you.

  • How do I combine several mov files into a larger mov file?

I am just getting started with Premiere Elements (12.0) and have what seems to me to be a very simple goal.  I have several short ".mov" movies and would like to combine them into a single ".mov" movie.  I have gone through the menus and can't find a way to do this.  If someone would point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks for the reply.
There is no reason why you should not be able to export your Timeline content to a file with a .mov file extension with several choices for video compression.
From your details, I suspect I know the problem that has not surfaced until your latest post.
When you get to Publish+Share/Computer, there are several choices. Adobe Flash Video with one of its export f4v is a choice not the default for the exports under Publish+Share/Computer. The categories to select from under Publish+Share/Computer include, from top to bottom...
    Adobe Flash Video
    MPEG
    AVCHD
    XAVC=S
    AVI
    Windows Media
    QuickTime
    Image
    Audio
It is the QuickTime choice which will give you the exports with the .mov file extension. And, you can select from a large number of video codecs to go with the .mov file extension. But, to make that choice, you need to
    (a) Have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
    (b) Use the scroll bar to the right of the list to get to the bottom of the list where you will find QuickTime.
Example for you to look at if you have not already...if your source is 1920 x 1080p24...
    Then
    Import....
    Project Preset
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p 24
    Export
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    QuickTime
with Presets = NTSC DV 16L9
then, under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, customize the Export Settings...See screenshot below
Leave the Bitrate Settings without the check mark next to "Limit Data Rate to" for this first run.
Depending on the file size of the export, next time we can type a specific data rate value in that field.
Please review, consider, and then let us know if you are OK with the information provided.
    Thank you.

  • How do I combine separate audio and video files into one Quicktime movie?

I have DVDs that contain separate audio and video files in folders marked Audio_TS and Video_TS. I would like to know how to combine these files into a single Quicktime movie. Is there inexpensive or shareware software that imports and unites these files reliably? A simple solution is preferred, rather than getting into complex media editing applications.
    G4 eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Doug - the VOB files (in the VIDEO_TS folder) are MPEG-2 files. MPEG-2 have the video and audio mixed into the one file - there are no audio files to combine.
The rest are directions to a DVD player (e.g. the BUP and IFO's) . The AUDIO_TS folder is used for DVD Audio discs and on video DVDs is always empty.
Many people use Handbrake or iSquint to convert VOB to iPod video though MPEG Streamclip is the best - open the first numbered VOB and it will prompt you to open all of them. ALWAYS fix timecodes when it asks. You can then edit/trim and export to MPEG-4.

  • Combine bmp files into one single pdf?

I've got 76 scanned pages in bmp format, and need to print them. Ideas? I can't be bothered to select each one of them separately in Preview and click on Print, then OK 76 times...
    Many thanks.

There are some Apple Script Folder Action scripts that will convert image files from one format to another, so you can drop a set of images into a folder and they will all get individually converted to another file format. I don't know if you can create a multi-page pdf bundle, unless you have PostScipt maybe, then you can just append all the ps files into one large multi-page PS file.
Even working with Automator you will have to learn a little about scripting anyway. Typing text commands in Terminal isn't that much different. Fink is really not that hard to install and work with. You do have to learn a little about Terminal and how to execute comands from the shell prompt.
I think the solution to your problem would probably involve a combination of an Apple Script that executes a Terminal command to run the ImageMagick convert utility, and I think that it could be attached as a Folder Action to operate on a group of files when you drop them into it. I am not sure if Apple Script or Automator can do this work all by itself. They are really just fancy GUI wrappers for the instructions to other programs to do what they do. By themselves they don't actually do the work, they facilitate the flow of the work to the appropriate tools. ImageMagick is one such appropriate tool for your image conversion problem.
I have been thinking about setting this up to handle faxing out a multi-page pdf document that is created by scanning single pages as individual jpg images. Sometimes I have to fill out a form and fax it somewhere, and my scanner is a single sheet scanner. So that would be handy to drag and drop a few pages of jpgs to a folder and have the convert utility bundle them to a pdf and have Preview open it, ready for faxing. Now, I use Terminal to
cd ~/Desktop (or folder that contains my scanned jpgs)
    convert *.jpg fax_file.pdf
    open -a Preview fax_file.pdf
Then in Preview Print... and Fax
I could fax right from the command line also, but I like being able to look at the document first to check for errors, and get the fax number from Address Book.
I'll post back if I ever get an Apple Script/Folder Action working, but I am in the middle of upgrading to Tiger and backing a lot of files up, so I might not get to work on it for a while.
Try out fink, there are lots of free software tools that you might find useful.

  • Hiding filenames when combining multiple files into a single .pdf

I'm fairly new to this Acrobat X. I'm trying to assemble my portfolio to distribute to employers but I cannot seem to get rid/hide the filenames in the final pdf file. I was using the option to 'combine multiple files into a single pdf' because I was compiling images and documents to a single readable pdf file. I got all that done but once I open it, I'd see that each page would still contain the original file names rather than page numbers - which I prefer not to have employers see for the sake of tidiness (and I refuse to use the Adobe portfolio because it's not really efficient on space or design. I prefer a simple page-by-page pdf). So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to hide my file names, change them into page numbers or getting rid of them all together so the 'Table of Contents' in the pdf preview mode would not show anything, I would really much appreciate it.
    -Ss

Well, when the .pdf is in the final, deliverable form; I open it in Mac preview mode and the sidebar is always extended showing a 'table of contents' rather than having each document in the pdf file have a number designating a page name, it shows each individual filename the pdf is composed of. Not too sure about bookmark, though. Thanks for the reply!
If you want, I can send the file to you.

  • How do I convert a prel file into..

How do I convert a prel file into a mp3, avi, etc. I am needing to upload the video onto youtube and the file is not compatible as a prel. I am using adobe premier elements 12.

    mgroce
Given you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1. (limit...2 GB 15 minutes, even if you have an extended time account at YouTube...the extended time account applies only to file uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site)
If your goal is to get a Premiere Elements 12 Timeline uploaded to YouTube, you have two possible routes....
    a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube and your selection of the preset that matches your Timeline properties
    or
    b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 preset to export the Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive from where you upload it to YouTube at the YouTube Web site.
For best results, I would suggest an AVCHD.mp4 file instead of the "avi" that you mentioned. What is the video compression that goes with that "avi" wrapper?
As for .mp3, that is a audio file extension, what is your intent on that....an upload to YouTube with just music and with a black video display? YouTube strictly enforces any copyright issues, so please assure that there are none associated with these .mp3 otherwise YouTube will remove them.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if you have the information that you sought.
    Thank you.

    Hi:
How can I edit MPEG or convert DVD or MPEG to DV
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/%7Eshmhav/SVCDon_a_Macintosh.html#edit_convertMPEG
Matti says it better than any of us:
how/where you can join clips with Streamclip
Also MPEG Streamclip guide explains it.
MPEG Streamclip can join similar MPEG files: The joined files must have the same PIDs, the same start codes, and the same audio/video properties (that is, they must come from the same source or channel).
Using "Convert to MPEG" before joining the files can be helpful, because it changes PIDs and start codes to a default value. The preferred method to join streams is to Copy one stream in MPEG Streamclip, open another stream and Paste it there. This method checks that the joined streams indeed are compatible. Another method is to put the MPEGs in the same folder, and rename them so that they sort as desired in list view. Then select them via MPEG Streamclip's "File/Open Files..." dialog box (Shift- or Command-click to select multiple MPEGs). Then choose "Edit/Fix Timecode Breaks". After this MPEG Streamclip should report the combined length of all MPEGs (check the Log Window if you want to know whether any timecode breaks were found). Then choose "File/Convert to MPEG... or /Save As..." to save them in a single file. If the video transition between two files looks bad, you can use the Cut command to improve it. You can join very different and incompatible MPEGs with this latter method so the end result is not guaranteed to work.
MPEG Streamclip can also edit MPEG files. Just set In/Out points (with I/O keys), Cut unwanted material off and choose "File/Convert to MPEG...". You can also Cut/Copy selections to other parts of the same stream or open another compatible stream and Paste it there. Shift-dragging the playhead can also be used to define a selection. Option + arrow keys jump to the beginning/end or In/Out points. You can use the Trim-command to more closely see a part of the video before cutting, then choose Revert Trimming to see all material. JKL-keys can be used to enable fast forward or reverse playing. The scroll wheel works also; with the Option key it scrolls 1 second per click. See the manual for more details on how to jump in single frame, GOP, 1 second, 10 second or 1 minute chunks when searching a specific spot in the video.
Editing and trimming can be accurate only if In and Out are both on keyframes because MPEG Streamclip edits to the GOP, not to the frame. For DVD and (XS)VCD the maximum GOP size is PAL 15 and NTSC 18 frames, so the editing accuracy can be up to about 0.6 seconds. You can advance to the previous or next keyframe (i.e. I-frame, the beginning of each GOP or Group Of Pictures) with the Up/Down arrow keys -- you can also use the Edit/Go to Keyframe command to see where the In and Out points really are when editing (the In point is included in the selection, the Out point is not included). Shift + Up/Down arrow keys allow fine-tuning the selection to the GOP.

  • Avoid automatic (?) rotation when combining multiple files into 1 pdf

As I do often have to mark up (stamp) and print large number of single A3 size pdfs (converted dwg files) I am combining them (explorer) into 1 new pdf. Thus enabling just 1 print job instead of 50-100 !
So far no problem - combining works fine & all drawings are even landscape.
However when applying custom stamp on each sheet (first time all the way in acrobat - all next sheets with copy - paste because:
    much faster
    often resizing required
    sometimes even rotating required.
Seems originally not "landscape" orientated files were (at least in the view) re-orientated causing the applied stamp to be 90 - 180 or -90 degrees offset
When I manually remove the stamp on this page and insert a new one via Acobe Acrobat (not copy paste) the orientation is ok. Rather amazing.
Got some more related questions but think 1 step at the time is more convenient.
As often 50-100 dwg's are involved the copy-paste method (after resizing once) turns out most efficient till now.
How can I control / avoid the automatic rotation or anticipate on the (obviously) rotating stamps ?
I will have to move the stamps anyway because I can hardly ever put a stamp at the same position on a drawing.
[It turns out to be almost impossible to get draughtsman to leave an empty space on each drawing ...]
Once again thanks in advance for any suggestion !

    Some additional info:
main issue: how to avoid files to be rotated during combining? The rotating is not the real issue - however when applying the stamp using Ctrl-C => Ctrl-V the apllied stamp seems to track the original position of the file .... Amazing however: when adding  a stamp with Adobe acrobat the "common" way the orientation of the stamp is OK !!
Also: files to be combined do not always have same original size (A3 - A1 - A0 sometimes also A4 or A2 !!) so I do quite often have to re-size my stamp. Do realize I can probably solve this by printing the "binder"document to a pdf first - with setting A3 paper size. I'll try it first !
Would be nice to be able to insert a stamp on each sheet of the binder-document with 1 action (Macro ?) and - importatnt - have the stamp located at same position on each page. Would still require a check as draughtsman don't always leave free space available at same location (if any at all )

  • Combining multiple files into a single PDF/A

The issue brought up in another discussion is the loss of PDF/A conformity when “merging” multiple PDF/A files into a single file (I use PDF/A for preservation of corporate records). The “insert” option retains conformity but does not allow inserting multiple files in a certain order, unless you insert them one by one (which is a pain when you have 50 files to attach).
The solutions I’ve come up with so far:
    1)     1)  In AAPro – combine files into a single PDF and then convert it to PDF/A using Preflight. This is easy, my only problem is that I don’t have AAPro (and AAStandard doesn’t convert to PDF/A).
    2)     2)  In AAStandard – combine files into a single PDF and then “print” to PDF/A. The problem of this “re-frying” is that it only creates PDF/A-1b (not 1a), bookmarks and OCR of scanned pages are lost, and files become significantly larger.
I wonder if anyone knows a more intelligent way around this problem, provided that I only have AAStandard. Thanks!

Well, when the .pdf is in the final, deliverable form; I open it in Mac preview mode and the sidebar is always extended showing a 'table of contents' rather than having each document in the pdf file have a number designating a page name, it shows each individual filename the pdf is composed of. • Combining multiple projects into one larger project?

If I have multiple separate projects and now want to combine them, edits, titles and all into a larger project, is it possible? I expected that it might be possible to drag one project into another and place it intact onto the timeline for the new project. Since every combination of dragging a project around has evidently failed to accomplish what I'm expecting... is there a way to do this?

welcome phiphika to the  board…
in terms of convenience, I would indeed export/share all 6 movies.
    to tape, or as Quicktime/FullQuality…
both methods create a lossless copy of your final movie(s).
in step II, import all 6 project into a new iM project, as said above, you don't loose ay quality with that back'n forth copying... only some time ;-)… you can set then chapter markers etc....
besides, your workflow is as mine on larger projects: not 678 clips into one monstrous project of some dozends Gigabytes, just segments…

  • How to Combine multiple files into the one file?

    Hi all,
How do I combine multiple canon hf10 avchd files into the one file with a new extension. No need to be compressed.
Afterwards, I also want to split this combined file to original files.
    Need Help!

Yes, angelanna. You can merge or split your video file via FCP sequence.
ahaah, maybe I think angelanna would like to get the resulting file with MTS format because he mentioned “No need to be compressed”. Are you asking for this, angelanna?
If so, a simple MTS files managing and editing tool  is needed. Maybe you can have a try the Mac version of Aunsoft Final Mate for managing HD camcorder footages. I just downloaded its free trial version and it offers a simple way of garping footages directly  from camcorder. And also it provides a attractive feature to join flawlessly and split accurately native MTS files for video file output with original MTS format.
Maybe this is the tool cwhich an help you out, angelanna.
    Enjoy your video.
