Can any-one tell me if it's possible to combine two projects into one in imovie? I'd like to slot a project between still photos in an existing project.

Yes this has no stream-line function - but
• Make the insert as it's own project
• Export out as a full Quality QuickTime movie
• Import this into Events
• Now insert this as "Cut-away" in the Main Project
Many complex scenes must be made this way by export/import as many functions etc only can be applied one at a time.

I have two students who are working on different machines and cutting together their own project (they each have the same clips are their own laptops).
I am on a third computer (and also have the same clips and we are all on the same network) and I would like to combine their projects into one new project.
What is the easiest way to do this? Can I just have them send me their project files?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on?
You cannot import one Premiere Elements (any version) project file (project.prel) into another.
You can transfer from project to project by
a. exporting the content from project 1 to project 2 by exporting the Timeline content from project 1 to a file saved to the computer hard drive in a format compatible with the project 2 and then importing the saved file into project 2 with project 2's Add Media/Files and Folders.
b. if your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is running on Windows, then you can consider ClipMate (Windows Only) in conjunction with Premiere Elements for a copy/paste insert between two Premiere Elements projects.

Is there a way to combine two projects?

I've videoed several sets of footage from related events that may be combined into a single DVD at some point, but which were long enough to stand on their own. However, they are currently being used in two separate projects. Is there any way to transfer edited clips from one project to another and still retain the editing that was done? One of these projects was done with 2 continuous cameras and the other with 3, so the amount of editing that would have to be done twice could be substantial. I'm currently using PE3.02 in Vista. Thanks!

With the timeline selected, go to File/Export/Movie and export each as a DV-AVI video.
You can then combine those AVIs into a new project with virtually no loss of quality.

Combine two projects

I want to take a one-minute project and put it at the end of another project. I can copy/paste it, but the titles don't come with it. Is there a way to move this project's clips, transitions and titles?

That's about it. One thing I have not yet tried, but thought of is that if you join all of your regions in each track, so they are one long region, then you should be able to just copy the package files right into another song, then place them where you want. It should be easier than copying several split regions and trying to rearrange them.

Combine two iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

Could someone help me figure out the best way to combine two iMovie (HD 5) projects into one iDVD project? I currently have a documentary with one iMovie project at 1 hour exactly. I am starting a second one and would like all this to go on one DVD eventually. I am especially concerned about what happens with the chapter markers already created in each iMovie project - how is that combined when the two are put together? If there is a link for this info, I'd be happy to read that as well.

I would combine them by saving each completed imovie (without chapter markers) as a full quality QuickTime movie.
Then start a completely new imovie project and import each of those in to make make one large imovie. (But remember, your DVD will only hold about 120 minutes of footage and that doesn't count the themes).
That's when I would add the chapter markers.
BTW-it's going to take up a lot of disk space to save the movie s and to burn the DVD.

First create an iMovie project. Then drag the clips (or portions of clips) that you need into the project.
When finished, use the SHARE menu to share the project.

Combining two iMovies

Hi - I've imported two separate DV tapes, and when importing them they were saved to my hard drive as separate iMovies. However, now I'm working on creating a movie out of them, and I'd like to combine the two clip lists so I can make one movie. Any idea how?
I've tried to import the second movie while working in the first, but no luck. I've tried to open the second while working in the first, thinking I might be able to just drag them from one to the other, but I can't open two instances of iMovie.

You can also try this - I deliberately create two or more separate iMovies and then combine into one as a way to keep the project parts shorter (< 10 mins) and easier to work with since I use a lot of still photographs from iPhoto, narration, and imported music from iTunes. Here are the steps:
While "movie B" (second part of your movie) is open, go to Movies folder, right click on "movie A" (previously created first part of your movie), open contents and navigate to the Quicktime DV file, select it and drag into an empty clip pane in "movie B". After it has rendered, drag it to the beginning of the timeline of "movie B" and you have your combined two movies into one.
Only drawback: you can't edit the contents of the imported Quicktime DV file ("movie A") while inside "movie B" - if you do decide you need to edit "movie A" after inserting it, you can close out of "movie B", relaunch "movie A", edit, save and repeat the steps described in paragraph above after deleting the previous imported version of "movie A".
Works great.

Combining two iDVD projects into one

So... I have two iDVD projects both of which are under half an hour and they are both complete. The dvd is all set up, the menus have all been perfected and I like it. Is there anyway for me to set up one DVD and on the first menu of that DVD give the option to go into either of the two DVD's that I have made and have all their menus and everything be just the way they are without me having to redo everything?
In other words, is there anyway for me to just combine the two projects and add a front page that gives me the option of going into either of the two in order to save DVD's and to archive everything?

Sorry, but no. You need to create a NEW iDVD project that includes the content from the other two dics.

You can split a project in two by doing this.
1) Go to the Project Library View.
2) Select your project, and click FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT. Give it a name like "your project name - part 1".
3) Do this again. This time name it "your project name - part 2"
4) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the second half.
5) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the first half of the project.
At the end you should have your original project, plus the same project in two parts.

Go to the Project Library View and select your project.

Select your Music Track so that a yellow border is around it. Then hit the Delete Key. Alternatively, hit EDIT/DELETE SELECTION.

AppleMan Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents" but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb. Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong. Babowa It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

A friend and I are both editing a video project we shot last week for a college project. We have each been working on seperate parts of the video and now we want to combine the two parts for the finished product. We would like to combine the two projects in Premiere pro so they are still editable.. We dont want to export as individual movie files and combine that way..

Thanks for the help guys.. Importing the file works but it only gives me a big long sequence clip of my friends work and it seems to be all over the place.. What I need is the exact layers etc from my friends file.. How can I do that?
The reason the sequence clip is not adequate is that we are being marked based on an overall premiere pro project file so our teacher can see exactly the edits etc we have made and where we have added sound/fx on the timeline.I know I can chop up the sequence clip into the sections I need but im hoping there is an easier more suitable way for what I need.
Im not sure if what I am asking is possible but if it is I would greatly appreciate someone breaking it down for me..

This has been solved. Downloaded and used a program called Handbrake and it successfully extracted the movies, iDVD could read and with a new menu the combined effort was successfull.
