Combining type

I have PDF files that I need to open in Illustrator (CS4). When I open it the type is "chunked out" so instead of a paragraph being one block of text it is a bunch of different text paths. Is there a way to combine these into one text block so I can edit the type instead of resetting it?

One method is to Drag-Select the text with the Selection tool and either Cut or Copy. Then with the Text tool drag a new Area Text object and Paste the selected text. I think JET has a script for this but I'll wait for him to direct you.

I have a swing app that creates a text string. I want to combine a graphic (jpg used as a letterhead) with the generated text string into an object (?) that I can send to a printer for printing....I have been working on this for two days and can't seem to find an answer...the code that creates what I need is below...
This puts a blue square and the words "short notes" on the screen but I can't figure out how to save the total image and then send it to a printer...or is there someway to avoid showing it on the screen and just print it directly?....thanks in advance...mike

I don't have any code I could give you - I've only worked maintenance on printing code, and that was covered by a confidentiality agreement. However, searching the fora led me to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/jps/spec/appendix_2Dgraphicsdoc.fm.html#7083 which looks like it might help you. If you replace the g2d.drawString with a drawImage, you're probably sorted.

Change supplier type in supplier portal

Hi all,
anyone knows if it is possible to let the supplier change his supplier type (in the supplier portal)?
I managed to find a security right for the supplier / supplier manager profile but this didn't seem to work.

Hi Vikram,
the vendors can be active in multiple sectors (e.g. TAXI, TOWING SERVICE, HOTEL, ...). For each sector, we will be creating a supplier type since some fields need to be visible/hidden based on the supplier type.
Sometimes, a vendor can also be active in multiple sectors (e.g. towing service and taxi). For these vendors, we will be creating combination types, i.e. supplier type 'taxi_towing' for example.
Let's assume a vendor has been created as a taxi but he has decided to start a new service (towing serices), we want him to be able to change his supplier type manually from taxi to taxi_towing. This will automatically show some new fields which he can fill in.
I know it's a little bit complicated but we have no other way of doing it.

Chart type for Flash Chart

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to evaluate whether it's possible to use APEX for an application that I'm going to develop.
Therein I want to use several charts for displaying database content.
One of the charts I need is a combination of stacked charts with lines, but I can't find this type of chart in the "native" APEX-chart-collection. Is there anything available I missed at first sight?

That is a limitation of APEX default charts which cannot combine types. However, the post by Dimitri Gielis might on [Anychart 5 integration kit for APEX|http://dgielis.blogspot.com/2008/11/anychart-5-integration-kit-for-apex.html] might be what you're looking for. This commercial version of AnyChart can do a lot of things including the combination of types you're looking for. BTW, the free flash chart in APEX is based on an older version of AnyChart.

Charts not opening as same type chart that it was saved as

sqld version 4
On a number of charts I have created in reports the chart opens as a different type that what I have the report defined
to show.
Example:
create chart as combination dual y.
next time sqldeveloper is started and report is run the chart will display a bar vertical cluster dual y.
A check of report definition will show chart should be combination dual y.

Hi Alan,
I can reproduce this issue, and it looks to me like a bug in the drawing code for the combination chart types. I've opened a bug #18118198, and will get the problem fixed as quickly as possible.
I'm afraid the only workaround I can find at the moment is to edit the report, set the chart type to some other value e.g. vertical bar, and then set it back again to the combination type. Apply this change and then open the report: it should now draw correctly.

G5 Dual 2.5 Randomly Sleeps

All of a sudden my G5 dual 2.5 has started putting itself to sleep randomly and frequently (minutes between sleep). I can wake it up fine but I can't get any work done. I'm running 10.3.9. I don't have any of the energy saver settings set to sleep (computer, hard drive or monitor) and I never have. It runs 24/7. The only software that has changed recently is an iTunes upgrade to 7.6.2.
I disconnected everything except ethernet, monitor and the USB keyboard and mouse. I can get it to run fine if I remove the air deflector. I worked on it for about 5 hours today with the deflector off and had no problems. I cannot see any signs of a coolant leak.
Although I'm certain it's a hardware problem. I tried running DiskWarrior from a special boot CD. It starts up fine from the CD and I can start DiskWarrior. But when it gets to step 6 (building replacement directory structure) it starts to go to sleep (all the fans stop and the monitor goes black). I hit the space bar and it wakes back up. The fans start up again and DiskWarrior continues. I've tried it twice with the same results. I never actually do the rebuild though because I'm afraid it will go to sleep and totally screw up the hard drive. The fact that the sleep problem exists even when running off the CD suggests that I have some sort of hardware problem doesn't it?

I disconnected the power over night and reset the PMU. Neither changed anything. Here's what looks to be a relevant section of the console log.

No sound or recording in windows 8.1 on parallels 9 OS 10.9.2

I really hope someone can help me here.
I have a MacBook air 13" (purchased new in 2014), running Mavericks Mac OS 10.9.2, parallels desktop 9, build 9.0 24229 and windows 8.1, all installed in march 2014.
built in microphone and speakers on macbook air (no mic-in option)
sound and recording audio work fine on mac OS
No sound out or mic recording in on the Windows 8.1 side when all audio drivers set to parallels audio drivers
When set to 'built-in' or 'default' for speakers and/or mic in Windows I get an echo even from ambient sound which gets louder without me doing anything and I have to switch to parallels audio drivers to stop the echo.
I am unable to record, or hear audio or Skype on the Windows 8.1.
Everything is ticked green, device drivers say they are installed, up to date and working fine.
When try to do the 'set up mic' option, nothing happens when I do the test recording, whichever type of mic I try to set up (headset/desktop/other)
Apple Store Genius bar said they cant help as problem isn't with the Apple side but with 3rd party software
Parallels say I am past the 30 day support and will have to pay for any further tech support
Microsoft say that because it is an Apple device it isn't their problem.
I am stuck, having bought the machine specifically to record into a Windows based programme and have followed all troubleshooting option on all three websites.
Can anyone help please?

I reinstalled Parallels Tools. I followed kb 112477, checked sound on my Mac (it is set as output - internal speakers - built in; input - internal microphone - built in)
Went into Parallels desktop/preferences/hardware/sound
'connected' is ticked
When setting to input-built in mic and output-built in output I get an increasing crescendo echo from ambient sound, and I have to press mute to stop the sound
Same increasing crescendo echo happens when I set input and output to default input and default output respectively.
Audio configuration checked in Windows virtual machine - shows parallels audio controller. another section in device manager shows that audio inputs and outputs are set to Parallels audio controller for microphone and speaker.
The MBA has built in mic, no separate mic input, but it seems to be interfering with a loop of sound
KB article 114055 - sound is fine on Mac OS X side, no yellow exclamation marks. As stated in response to trying KB 112477, with built-in as input and output I get a crescendo of ambient echo, only way to silence it is to mute sound on keyboard.
3rd solution (Parralels, Maheeshwar)
Please try the steps as provided below which may help you in resolving the issue :
1. Start virtual machine.
2. Take a Snapshot (virtual machine -> Take Snapshot).
3. Press "cmd"+"R" combination, type 'regedit' and Return (Enter) to run Registry Editor.
4. Locate and highlight 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\C lass\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}' key and look for 'UpperFilters' value in the right box.
5. Highlight 'UpperFilters' value and delete it:
6. Expand 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\C lass\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}' key and check every subkey for 'KS' value. If you find it, delete it.
7. Re-install Parallels Tools (in Parallels Desktop menu bar: Virtual Machine -> Reinstall Parallels Tools) and reboot your virtual machine.
Also: - Start -> in the search box type "Control Panel" -> in View by choose "Small icons" -> Sound - Browse to "Communications" tab - Select "Do Nothing" - Press "OK" -
In the recording tab -> Right-click Microphone -> Properties -> switch to Volume tab and set it to 100% -In the Lync options also set Microphone vol. to the maximum.
Okay, so this last option made the mic work! Thanks, I did see that solution but it looked too complicated to try - I don't know what I've done, but it has worked and the mic works now.
BUT, when I playback there is the same crescendo echo - it seems to record sound, play it out and record what's playing at the same time
So now the problem is
"eching sound when audio played" - I will re-post under a different heading.

Paste graphic/ image in textfield, how to ?

i have a working dynamic form ( completed with LSD V8)
my text-fields work fine.
(overflow to the next site, dynamically growing....)
my question:
is it possible to paste a graphic ( source whatever:MS word, pdf, Photoshop...) into that textfield ?
in the given fiels, you can only choose between textfield
or imagefields. That means not "mix-fields"
It should work like this example within ONE field ( which is enclosed by subfom)

and so on.....
i want to do it without new subforms and buttons. if possible not that way:

Unfortunately you cannot combine types .... a text field holds text and an image field holds an image. You cannot mix and match.

Query running error

Hi, all.
In our PROD system we faced one problem. When we run query we get error
"Cannot create characteristic combination: type \BI0\0100000100" doesn't exit"
"Special situation CX_SY_CREATE_DATE_ERROR"
I think we have problem with temporary database objects what is described in SAP note 1139396. And we execute report "SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES", but it doesn't help.
Can anybody help us with this problem?

This probably won't solve your issue... but have you tried to regenerate your query using RSRT -> Generate button? I've found that this feature has helped resolved some query execution errors after transporting.
Can you give us any information about what dates are used in your query (standard or custom, any variables created on these date InfoObjects?). Thanks!

Multiple Joins Between Folders

Hi Gurus,
I have a fact table which contains multiple candidate fields that can be joined to a lookup table
2 folders
fact_table
lookup_table1
2 Joins are possible between the two folders
fact_table.code_combination_id -> lookup_table1.code_combination_id
fact_table.accrual_code_combination_id -> lookup_table1.code_combination_id
When I try to create a workbook and include fields from the fact table, then include fields from the lookup table it asks me to choose the join.
If I then want to add fields based on the second join it won't ask me which join to use in future. It appears to assume the first join is still in affect between the two folders for the report. I know I can create another folder using the same lookup table and move one of the existing joins from the current folder to the new folder. Am I missing something or is this the only way to go?

Interesting issue. This is how we resolved it in my last job.
Folders created:
Fact table: AR Fact
Lookup folder: Code Combination Lookup
Lookup folder: Accrual Code Combination Lookup
Then join AR Fact to each lookup folder. Generally, point the lookup folder to the AR Fact folder when creating the joins. Discoverer will like that direction best. As additional code combination types are referenced, add additional code combination folders. All of those folders come from the same lookup table. The only thing that is different is the column joined to in AR Fact.
So, in the end, your joins would be:
Code Combination Lookup.code_combination_id -> AR Fact.code_combination_id
Accrual Code Combination Lookup.code_combination_id -> AR Fact.accrual_code_combination_id

Proxy client won't work in this case?

I have not made my client side work for a single device yet but I want to make sure I'm spending time on the right track:
My code will be running on the application server side, there will be hundreds of devices each has its own IP address, but runs exactly the same web services, and my code will need to talk to each of the selected ones using its IP address. I see that some generated proxy class contain the particular IP of the device where the web service is running on? If so, then it won't be possible for me to use a client proxy class to talk to all the devices.
I'm currently trying something like this:

Fillattr runs two migrations - one for access rules, and another for
proxy settings. I've seen cases where one works and the other fails.
But eventually you can get it going if you find the hangup.

I will suggest you to create a material type as ZCAP and create a material master , which will help you to track the details, create a Asset Master thru AS01, in asset master you can define the material code as reference. create PO with account assignment as "A" and in J1ID master, material & chapter id combination, type as A i.e. Asset against that material code, so that system will take 50% Capital goods credit. in MB51 you can track the movement of that material code.

Loud clicking from G5 after waking from sleep mode

Hello,
I have a Power Mac G5 - 1.8 Ghz, 80 gig HD, 1.25 gig ram, OS 10.5.6. I upgraded the OS to 10.5 from 10.3 about a year ago and have kept up with software updates. Since performing the upgrade, the machine makes a moderately loud clicking noise when it comes out of sleep mode. It always awakens and operates normally. I have run the hardware tests and have detected no errors.
I have searched the forums and not found any other topics that would give me some insight into what this might be. Any help would be appreciated

Cannot evaluate expression on Banner page

We've been trying to add some variables on a watermark page that would relay to those in production the details of the job when printed.Some of the variables are cause errors, right now mostly print related information like Main Stock e.t.c.Jobs are submitted by JMF/JDF to freeflow core.We were directed by xerox support to look at the xpaf files for the printer for the value to use for a ProductID that was missing from our JDF. Looking at the xpaf files I'm not sure where I should be looking for this ProductID (nothing is clearly marked thus) or where in the JDF the ProductID should go. Alright I'd try this. Does a similar workaround exist for $FFwfDoc.color$? You can test with JDF 3 or JDF 5 and should see the same issue. JDF 3 for reference: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
