Combo of T61 and customer support problems

My main problem is that my T61 freezes up.  It came with a 2 gig ram, sbbb Intel core 2 duo t7500 processor, 1 gig turbo memory window's ultimate 32 bit os and an 80 gig hard drive. This problem has been going on intermittently (odd) since I  received the laptop brand new.  I may or may not be able to move the cursor over the screen when it is frozen.  It does not high light anything, control-alt-delete does not work, nothing responds.  I have to manually hold down the power button to turn the system off.
The different things it has done, and not all during the same occurrence:  blue screen with white writing, black screen with white writing, black screen oxc 000000f-selected entry could not be loaded because application is missing or corrupt, the memory was dumped (I had used rescue and recovery backup disks then because I did not know if something was corrupt in the original software that came loaded on it), sometimes it checks the c-drive after being manually shut down, sometimes it does not, problem with window's registry (only did that maybe twice), and corrected master file table, corrected bit map (after checking c). Sometimes it freezes and gives no error messages during restart.  I do not have anything loaded on this system that is not compatible with vista nor anything that exceeds the ram.
When I had to use my rescue and recovery disks because everything crashed, I called tech support.  They told me I needed to update my drivers-especially my video driver.  I tried to tell them that I had been going to the lenovo website for driver updates, using pc doc, updating bios, doing a registry cleanup, defraging the hd, and of course window's updates.  So he gave me a link on lenovo's website for another update.  During that call, I told the guy that the recovery disks that came with the laptop loaded XP on my system.  He sent me out vista recovery disks-vista business, not ultimate, and it was freezing up on vista and xp-no matter what program I was using.  The next time I called, lenovo had my computer shipped back and replaced the corrupt 2 gig ram.  It came back with the same software it left with, so I know my hard drive had not been wiped.  On the third call I was told to update my drivers, check the hard drive using bios, that it was my web browser, remove the battery....  By this time I was wondering about technical service which leads me to my other issue.
I called the month after my warranty ran out, because I thought I had an established history of problems with this $1600+ laptop that has not worked right, and I was told that the warranty had run out, they would not honor it, records after 30 days were wiped-so there went my established history.  Now someone please tell me why a computer company would not keep records of customers warranty work requests?  Especially during the warranty period.  I was then given the number to out of warranty claims who told me it was out of warranty (duh) and she gave me the number to entitlement.  They called me the next day, which was nice but unfortunately I was not expecting their call and did not have all my info available.  Entitlement told me that someone from tech support would call me within the hour.  My computer proceeded to freeze up-so I left it frozen while waiting for tech support to call.  They did not so I called them, was told my warranty was out of date and I was transferred to another number.  Now this entire time I had been polite in my requests and conversations, my family had even alerted them to  a billing error that would have caused another customer some problems.  The tech I was transferred to was extremely rude the entire time.  I was not given the opportunity to explain my situation-which was what entitlement said the call would be about.   I requested mediation, he told me someone would call me within two days, then he proceeded to hang up on me.  No one has called.
I would appreciate some assistance, in my computer problems and how to get in touch with the right person about customer service.  Thank you.

obviously you have suffered a lot with the laptop os not working properly, have you tried to disable the turbo memory, sometimes that cause alot of trouble.

Jin Li

  • Payment withheld and customer support unable to help

My payment for about $4,000 was withheld this month because of an outstanding $30 app ad campaign balance.
The balance exists because my bank issued me a new credit card, replacing my old credit card on file. Ok, fine, I assumed I can pay the balance and have my payment issued, right? Wrong, the problem is that there is no way to pay the balance. I was finally
able to add my new card as a payment option but even adding the new card as a payment option does nothing; the ad campaign remains unpaid and no payment can be issued.
I've created support tickets and customer support has been unable to resolve this issue, with no end in sight. What few responses I've received from customer support all read the same way: "we are investigating the issue but have no updates for you
at this time". Meanwhile I fully expect my next month's payment to be withheld as well, because the outstanding balance is still there.
Has this happened to anybody else? If so were you able to resolve this? I find it hard to believe I'm the only one who has an outstanding balance for an app ad campaign.
I am half-hoping that somebody higher up reads this who has the authority or resources to help with this. I'm amazed there is no solution for this after weeks. I am simply out of options, I have no idea what can be done about this.

    Hello Nate,
You might not be able to create a new campaign in the payment failed state, but you can go to campaign creation page, add a new credit card and select the same. This will change the credit card associated with your account. If the card is good for swipe,
the account will be unblocked during the next monthly swipe cycle.
Please do so before the end of this month, so that your accounts get unblocked before the next payout cycle which is usually in the first week of every month.
If you have other feedback, please do let us know at
    [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Vikram

  • Problem with headphone jack on zen micro and customer support hel

I have had a zen micro for about a month now and i am very pleased with my purchase. BUT a few days ago the sound suddenly changed whilst i was listening to it. i found out it was a faulty headphone jack. i emailed customer support to arrange a replacement and the replied asking to send back information about my player then they would send me a returns number.i did that and im still waiting for the returns number 3 days later!
i was wondering if anyone else is experienceing the same problem as me and how long it takes for customer support to send you a returns number?
im afraid i will eventualy get a relpacement and the same thing will happen again. anyone got any advice on how to avoid the problem?Message Edited by alexkelly on 02-02-2005 09:0 PM

This happened to me as well after about a week. Like most portable devices I think the headphone jack is one of the weak points and can be easily jarred from its solder joints. I am taking extra care with the replacement Creative sent and I expect that it will not happen again.
As far as getting the replacement, I would recommend calling Customer Support directly and explain what the problem is and they should give you an RMA over the phone. Be sure to have the player in front of you as they will need the serial number that is on it. I was very impressed with the speed of service as well. I called them Monday morning, sent my Micro back after the phone call (I used Priority Insured Mail, be sure to insure it whatever you use) and they sent me a replacement that arri'ved the following Tuesday, just 8 days which I have only had one other company beat as far as service ever. Also be sure to backup everything on your Micro before sending it as you will probably not receive the same one back and I believe they format them on the way in the door for various reasons. Also they will tell you only send the the player back, keep all the accessories as you will only get a player sent back to you. Good luck!

  • Faulty mp3 player and customer support page does not w

I sumitted my problem online to the customer support but when I hit the submit button I get redirected from http://us.creative.com/support/contact/emailform.asp to a non-working URL http://dmzrespapp.europe.creative.com/kana/FRH
I do not get an e-mail confirmation either. But maybe you can also help with my problem below
I have an Creative Micro Zen mp3 player
When I start or reboot the mp3 player it hangs at the 'CREATIVE' logo and stops responding. This started 3 weeks ago.
I followed the steps below as suggested by Creative's knowledge base:.) Clean up2.) Format3.) Reload Firmware4.) Reboot
At each of these steps the player does not hang (I can hear the sound feedback when I touch the control buttons), but I stays there for hours saying i.e. 'Cleaning up', 'Erasing Firmware'

After I have read the FAQ I came across this last resort, tried it, and succeeded. Now it works again

My Zen won't startup, what do I do?
align=justify>If your Zen won't startup the first thing to try is see if you can access the Maintenance Menu (click here for the procedure) and run a disk cleanup. If this fails, or if you are getting the "hard dri've error" message on startup, listen closely to the Zen when it starts up. If you can hear the hard dri've repeatedly clicking at the end of the start up chances are the heads or related mechanics are jammed in some way. <B>At your own risk</B> you can try and free this by firstly powering the player down, then giving it a hard slap on the side. An alternati've and less drastic approach is to hold it in your outstretched arm with the screen towards you and twist your wrist back and forth as quickly as you can. This might indicate a problem with the player, so you may want to seek getting your player replaced/repaired anyway, especially if this happens more than once. Also if this procedure doesn't help you will also have to look at getting the player repaired, or if out of warranty you can try repairing the hard disk yourself. See the Articles section for guides on upgrading. Note that you <B>should not hit your player</B> in any other circumstance as you could damage the hard disk. Hard disks make clicking noises in normal operation.

  • Fraud issue and customer support

I have been sent an email from Skype so say that there was fraudulent activity on my account. I then recovered the account but it says i need to contact customer support.  I have tried to specifically contact customer support to sort this out, but there is absolutely no way that I can do this on Skype as they keep sending me round in circles on this site, looking at the same old issues.  I follow all the help provided but it does not deal with the fact that I still cannot now use Skype and clearly need to speak to someone to sort this out.
It is very scary to get emails that say 'do not reply....you have fraud committed on your account' - how ridicolous is that?  and then to have me clicking all these links around the site to hear the same problems but not get an actual solution.  How can I use my account even though I have recovered it and, wisely, removed all my payment details from it?

Same thing is happening to me right now. Someone hacked my account and changed the primary email address and password on the account. Now I can't log in or reset my account. And to top it off, the only way I can "contact" customer service is to log in! I had to create a new account just to send them a message, which they responded to by giving me instructions on how to reset my password.
It seems that Skype is great with taking your money, but when you have an issue, they are nowhere to be found.

  • Customer Support problems, points stolen

First off, let me say I have always been a loyal Best Buy customer, but over the past few weeks, I am not sure what happened but I have lost almost all faith in this stores ability.
Last week, I went into my local store, to get a price adjustment on a Smart TV I had purchased.  The TV was bought roughly 30 days prior, it was outside of the price match window, but within the Elite Plus return window, so the store said they would match the current advertised price.  They told me the only way I could do this was if they returned the item, then resold it to me.  They placed the return on a gift card and re-purchased it for me, and I was left the $400 balance on a gift card.
When I purchased the TV, I used my BB MC and used standard finiancing, with all the bonuses etc I earned nearly 12000 reward pointd for this purchase.  These were all taken away because of the way the store handled the return.
The old points taken away, and since in the system it showed me using a gift card to make the re-purchase I got minimal points.  I called customer support and after 40 minutes of trying to explain to this nice woman how the program works and what the problem was, she said she had to refer me to the "back office". This is slang, I have come to find out, for the real best buy employees.  Not sure if these folks work from home, or in a separate call facility not associated with actual Best Buy.  She assured me I would have resolution in 7-10 days.  Today, I received a phone call from a woman I could not even understand because of her foreign accent.  She started to explain to me how I have 2000 points pending and will get them in 15 days or so and if that was all that I needed.  I did not have the patience to try and translate my situation to her so I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was trnasfered to a phone line that rang non stop for 15 minutes until I ended the call.
This is all somewhat irrelevent since yesterday, I somehow issued myself $1065 worth of reward certificates and immediately used them for something.  No idea what, I guess they are investigating this as well.  Funny thing is, the certificates that were issued were for more points than I actually had by a few thousand. 2 hours before the theft, I had 46000 points, yet I issued over 50,000 worth It said my balance was 16000 and had $240 in rewards left, after calling customer support, I changed my passwords, today I log in and I have 114 points.
After reading this forum and a few others online, I have found out that this is not a new problem but actually a security issue they have been dealing with.  Last week I had 56,000 reward points that I have been diligently saving, today I have 114.  I cant even get someone who has a clue to talk to me on the phone, and the store just tells me I need to call the 800 number.  According to mybestbuy profile I have spent $18,153 to date this year at Best Buy and with my BB MC, and I get little to no help.
    Michael {removed per forum guidelines}

    Good afternoon Michael,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us on the forum.  I can certainly understand having concerns if it appears that all of the points you have banked are now gone.  It does appear the price match could have been handled a little bit differently.  Once outside of the 15 day time frame allowed for price matches, a return and repurchase might be performed in-order to process a price match; however, instead of issuing the funds in the form of store credit, a full refund to the credit card and new purchase with the same credit card may have been a better way to go.
While looking over your My Best Buy™ account, I believe that I can explain what may have happened with your points.  I am going to send you a private message so that I can go over your account with you in greater detail and see what I can do to hopefully resolve any of the issues you have encountered.  To check your private messages, please make sure you are logged into the forum and click on the yellow envelope icon located at the top of the screen.
I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Activation After C-Drive Crash - Customer Support Problems

We are having a terrible time with Customer Service... I hope some folks might help lead us into the correct direction.
I had a crash on my main computer where the C-Drive bit the dust.... and yes, it did not allow us to deactivate our copy of CS4 Master Collection.  Fortunately I do have my travelling copy on a small laptop.
We installed a new C-Drive, but had to reinstall CS4... then the activation message reads that we have too many activations... and I know that, because one of them crashed.  We simply need the crashed copy to be deactivated, so that we can reactivate on the newly constructed C-Drive.
My seventh (yes, 7th) phone call and over a culmulative hold time of over 9 hours (yes, 9 hours).  Over the span of two weeks, Customer Support tells me that their Activation Interface is not working (ugh!).  One person on the sixth call, this morning, transferred me to another Customer Support area where I was immediately put on hold for 2 hours and 9 minutes at which time the line went dead.
I was told to install the copy and work through the 30 day trial period, but I'm now on 16 days left and Customer non-Support not able to to help me yet.
Am I alone with my problem or or others having problems dealing with Customer Support?
If other's are aware of similiar issues, could you help direct to alternate phone numbers, contacts, websites where I might be able to receive some support.  Spending another $2,500 on software just doesn't sound like a solution when I've been an Adobe user for almost a twenty years.

Sorry, I cannot help you, but your problem is similar to the one I have. I used to run cs3 on a notebook only, toshiba qosmio g30. After severe troubles they changed the mainboard and the discs were formatted and during this long lasting service time I installed cs3 on a workstation just to go on with my projects. Now I want to reinstall it on the toshiba qosmio and I get the same license messages you mention in your posting.
I asked adobe for help using the online support form but the did not anwer so far. I think that adobe did not even ignore my troubles, as the question I put did not lead to a new open case.
Maybe I will make more use of the new microsoft products and other software as many things can be done without adobe as well. A couple of years ago I left quark (for adobe) and I do not miss quark so far (maybe they miss me as I was not the only one that went away).
    Good luck, guys!

  • Adobe photoshop clipboard and customer support.

What does this error message mean and how do I deal with it?
“Could not import the clipboard because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered”
Also, why when adobe customer support gives you space to submit a question and you type in your question and submit it, does it bring you to this page where you have to retype your question? Why isn't Adobe customer support more user friendly??

Hi Barb. Thanks for replying. I suspected I was in a customer forum, even though I was searching for Adobe support and everything I read on page I looked at gave me the impression I was contacting the company. I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, and every so often I get these weird error messages that I don't understand. Using the Photoshop "help" link in the program is pointless. If you try the search engine, you can't even get anything to come up by searching things like "scratch discs" or "clipboard".  I have tried to copy and paste from other images I have opened and that still works, but I still cannot import my captions. And I don't know how to clear the clipboard or even how to access it. I finally shut down the program, uninstalled it and reinstalled it and started over. It was the only way I could figure out to get things working again. Thanks for your help.

  • Photoshop Photography Program and customer support issue

    Hello,
I registered to the usual one app plan membership a couple of days ago (this is the first month). I just now noticed this great deal you are offering, Ps + Lr for 12.50eur / month and I'd like to know how can I switch to it.
I'm waiting for half an hour on the phone on your customer support line and your chat is not working either, stucked at "2 customers in line ahead of you."

Solved, after 40 minutes on hold on the phone. Luckily hangouts has a free plan, because no way I would have stayed on call for so long, from Europe. Chat is still dead in the water.

  • Account theft, and customer support is useless

About a month ago my Skype account has been used to send about 10 dollars worth of texts to different Chinese numbers (I only had that much credit left on my Skype). Personally I can miss the 10 bucks, but I was very shocked that the customer support does virtually nothing to help anyone in my situation: I contacted them, they limited my account access, then I had to go trough a couple steps to enable full access to my account again. That cycle literally does nothing. Like I said I can miss 10 dollars, but had it been more money left on my account I would be very disappointed with the limited amount of customer care. And I don't think I'll get any more skype credit. Anyone else who's faced similar incidents?

what exactly does the customer support say or require you to do?

  • Skype account suspended and customer support will ...

My Skype account was suspended by MS without any reason, I am 100% sure I have not violated any terms and conditions or even done anything out of the ordinary with my Skype accout.
I have contacted customer support on multiple occations and they keep telling me to fill out the account recovery form. Every time I do this they email me back saying to fill out the account recovery form if I want to recover my account, so I am stuck in an infinite loop. The customer service representatives don't even seem to be real humans as they just give a canned reply and don't tell me how to fix this issue. There is no phone number to talk to a real human being so I am now stuck without access to my account and Skype has stolen my money since there was credit on the account.
I will never purchase another Microsoft product again if this is how Microsoft treats their customers, I already own both Mac and PCs and I will simply use Mac from now on. Apple would never treat their customers with such distain.
Microsoft, time to own up to your massive failing in this matter and resolve the issue.

  • Security question and customer support fail

I just recently got a new number and went from an iPhone 4 to an IPhone 5C and don't get me wrong I love the phone entirely but, I tried going to the iTunes Store to download music and it won't let me. I used the correct Apple ID and password but it insists I use my security questions. Which I no longer know the answers to. So I figured how hard can it be to fix this. A lot freaking harder than I thought. I went to customer support and it said it would call me and assist. It never did. I "scheduled a call" several times. I waited for hours looking at my phone waiting just to not receive one. All I freaking want is new music on my phone and apparently the only way I can do that is with the answers to these stupid security questions. Someone help!

Read this about how to change the security questions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you can't use these procedures because you don't have a rescue email address you will have to contact Apple. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
You can also call your country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with Account Security.
You can also go to the ExpressLane at https://expresslane.apple.com and then iTunes > iTunes Store > Password and Security Questions and fill out the form.

  • Problems with orders and customer support

    Here is my dilemma,
I NEED photoshop for school so I ordered Creative Suite on January 26 and they never delivered it, in fact they CANCELED my order. So I had to reorder it on February 2nd. They delivered it to me but in fact sent the WRONG ONE. So I was forced to order it yet again. After probably ten phone calls to customer service making sure I would receive the correct product in time. Finally after a month of dealing with these issues my order finally arrived only for me to find out that Photoshop wont work on my computer. I called customer service AGAIN to get some assistance. I was told the wait would be 5 minutes but I ended up waiting for over an hour before I decided to call from another phone at the same time. I was told by the automated system that "Adobe's operating hours were from 5am to 7pm" and to "please call back within those reasonable times."
Of course you can see how frustrated I am due to the fact that I have been dealing with these incidents for a month and I NEED these applications for my school projects and have had to resort to using Word for projects. Can anyone help me get in contact with someone who will actually help and get me what I need instead of me having to go through these ridiculous loops of annoying problems.

Well, no offense, but you're not telling us anything. If you want help, as a minor you should probably tell us what computer and operating system you are using and why it doesn't qualify. Merely venting your frustrations doesn't help anyone. You could also post in the DIS forum, if you insist on getting more direct contact. Not saying that the employees there can help you better - after all, they, too, are mostly those poor Indian saps Adobe chose to let handle support - but they will try.

  • Adding custom tags and extend ParserDelegator and DTD support problem!!

Hi all, I searched all forums and google for information about this problem but I did not find any clear solution or example.
The probem stared when HTMLEditorKit's insertHTML method did not worked for custom tags.
    I extended javax.swing.text.html.parser.ParserDelegator class
and override it's setDefaultDTD() method, which loads the default dtd (html32 definition). After the dtd field is created it I call this method:
              javax.swing.text.html.parser.Element element = _dtd.defineElement(
                  "template", javax.swing.text.html.parser.Element.SYSTEM, false, false,
                  null, null, null,
new AttributeList("value"));where _dtd is instance of DTD class in the same package, and "template" is the name of my custom tag.
(if i define the element's type as CONTENT instead of SYSTEM the parser removes it)
So after this,i see that my new tag is in DTD.elements vector and DTD.elementHash hastable, so its defined in DTD structures.
The problem is that I have to redefine most element's ContentModel field "content" so that the parser will parse correctly the html source.
Here is the tracing of DTD.elements vector default contents + template tag.Sorry for the long text but i just want to be clear

Can anyone plase give me advice how i can add my custom tag in this ContentModel structures for example as a content of "p" element
I must do this for most structure elements.
Or tell me any other way i can achieve the solution of my problem.
A lot of topics here are still opened for solution for similar problems.
and hope that there is any solution for my problem 'cause its urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nenko Ivanov

  • Apple customer support problem 1st gen Time Capsule

Not sure there is any real point to this since Apple doesnt seem to really engage in these forums.  However, I recently had a 1st gen. Time Capsule die per the well-documented power supply failure problem.  After some prodding I was able to get Apple to replace the unit though it was a handful of days out of the replacement window.
Unfortunately the Apple  "genius" did not include my full business address on the shipping label and the unit has been in Fed-Ex limbo for nearly a week.  I have of course since provided Fed-Ex with the full address of my company office.  However, they will not revise the shipment info without Apple's authorization. I have left 4 voicemails for the Apple "genius" requesting they update my address so the unit can be delivered.  So far nothing, nada, zip... I'm glad my own staff are merely engineers, not geniuses.
To add massive insult to injury, today I received a reminder email from Apple that they have a $500 hold on my credit card and have not received the defective unit back.   Really? no sh*t!  I've not received the replacement unit or return label due to Apple's negligence...hello...welcome to automated email ****.  Of course, there is no reply address ANYWHERE to be found on Apple's website.
So, I'm sitting here with a dead network, $500 balloons on my credit card and no way to correct the delivery address on the replacement TC.
    Hey Apple, ***?
This is not the Apple I know and love.  If I wanted Dell quality service I'd have saved the money and bought a Dell.  I hope this is not the start of a long slow slide back into the Apple of the 1990s.

Agreed that an outright trainwreck such as this is atypical.  However, I am noticing an overall steady decline in customer service at the local Apple stores as well.  The "geniuses" at the Pleasanton Apple store are downright rude and unhelpful.  That is why I even bothered with phone support this time.
I think the phone support attitude is what started me off on the wrong foot.  This unit has a well documented power supply defect for which Apple issued a TSB and even reimbursed people who had to replace the unit due to the power supply failure.  When mine failed, I was actually told by the front line genius - "well, it lasted 2 years, that's pretty good".   That is a Dell/Gateway/Compaq/General Motors attitude.   A $500 router should last more than 2 years.  Cisco enterprise level routers last forever.  Several years ago the white iMacs had a power supply problem.  Mine failed 4 years after purchase and Apple cheerfully fixed it without question or issue.  They had it back to me in less than a week.
My expectations for support are commensurate with the price of Apple's products.  It is a luxury high-end brand. For perspective: This router costs more than a complete Gateway desktop computer system.
When you buy a BMW you expect a certain level of service, When you buy a GM expectations are lowered along with the price of entry. I don't expect to ever have to chase down keystone cop problems like this.  My time is far too valuable for that.  This is why I buy Apple computers and not Gateway computers.
Is it typical? maybe not.  Is it foreshadowing what is to come now that the company is back in the hands of the bean counters that nearly ran it into the ground last time?   Maybe.
