Hi , I have a psu of 350 (Antec) a P4 3400 Prescott with 512DDR2. with vga ATI x300
Overload Protection
Latching Protection
+5V @ +3.3V @ +12V @
cpu temp: 42 case temp: 42
and everytime I shut down: my puter restarts automatically, it is terrible
what do I have to do ?????
then when it finally shuts down, when I restart I have to press 3 times the reset button to actually boot normally...
I tried the bios, management options,....
I would be eternally greatful

ok, I see, it doesn't matter if it is antec or whatever psu as long as it is +400W with decent V12.
If I knew that before, I would have purchased the sonata with my own chosen psu.
now I will have a good 350W antec psu for nothing.......
I will purchase a new psu, some you guys are mentionning (thanx a lot guys )
I will give my whole computer to the shop, they will remove the mobo , replace it with new one (they just called me) and if the problem persists,...welcome antec full power....
I cannot do another thing than this. I don't want to blow my pc. it is running perfect except of that , except the reboots and won't starts....:D
thanx again. I was thinking if I had a neon light I would be in a discotheque with the reboots....could win some money if I asked for it....spooky:D

Why does Airbook sometimes restart itself after shutting down?

My MacBook Air sometimes restarts itself after I shut it down. At first I thought I was carelessly choosing the wrong command, but now I'm clear -- it's the Airbook. Also -- I had thought this was unrelated, but now I'm not so sure -- it's been forgetting to start up automatically some mornings. And yesterday at 3:19 pm it informed me that it was getting ready to shut down, "as instructed" (the actual instruction in the Energy Saver is for midnight).

Most of the times this will be solved with a HardDrive Replacement
although,
you could try this
Restart your Mac and hold down the Command key and the R key (Command-R).
Keep holding these keys until the Apple icon appears.
This indicates that your Mac is starting up.
After the Recovery System is finished starting up,
you should see a desktop with an OS X menu bar and a "Mac OS X Utilities" window.
After you do this, select Disk Utility and run it.
On the next screen,
Select the hard drive in the left hand column,
the First Aid tab on the top, and click on Reparid Disk. (bottom left)
When that is done, click on Repair Permissions.
When that is done, quit Disk Utility and restart.

After installing Snow Leopard, Reboots automatically after Shut Down

After I installed Snow Leopard, my Macbook Pro restarts itself after I shut it down. This doesn't happen when I shut down from boot camp though. Here's the console log of the last few minutes leading up to shut down:

Here's what to do to correct :
Erase those 2 files : "com.apple.AutoWake.plist" and "com.apple.PowerManagement.plist" in the Directory:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
While done, shut it down. If it restarts again, just shut it down one more time. After this, it will stays quiet until you ask it to reopen.

My Thinkpad L540 restarts immediatly after shutting down!

My new Thinkpad L540 is working correctly, except that the only way to shut it down seems to be holding the power button for four seconds. In particular,
If I turn the laptop off normally from my OS (by pressing the power button or entering some command), the laptop shuts down properly and starts again after a second.
If I press the power button when the laptop is booting (on the Lenovo logo), the same happens.
If I turn off the laptop by pressing the power button for four seconds after booting and the power cable is on, the laptop also turn on.
If the laptop is off and I connect the cable, the power button blinks a few times but this time it doesn't turn on.
Any ideas of what may be causing this?
Also, when I try to suspend the computer it also resumes immediately. I guess these two issues may be related.

My BIOS has an option to switch on when AC is attached, but it's currently off. I tried to set it on and off again just in case, but that didn't work.
I installed GRUB (since the Poweroff command on syslinux don't work on ACPI, for some reason) and tried to do what you wrote (pulling out battery, pressing power button for a few seconds, putting battery back in, and issuing "halt"), but the result has been the same as always. I also tried installing the 2.6 kernel on a new Ubuntu 12.4 installation, but nothing changed.
I did order my laptop with an SSD which was originally an SSHD in the Windows 8 installation, but now I'm using it to put the root partition on my Linux installation. I'll try to reinstall Windows 8 to see if that solves anything.
I'd probably try to find my warranty at this point, but unfortunately I live in Argentina where importing and exporting technology without bringing it yourself is pretty much impossible since a) I have to pay excessive taxes for everything, b) That means the "fixed" laptop will be stuck in the central mail for a while and c) There's a 100% chance it will be stolen by some employee there. I'll see if I can get back to a world with sane commerce laws before my warranty expires

Satellite 2450 turn on automatically after shut down

My laptop is a 2450 Satelite and it has started to turn itself back on when I shut it down.
I believe this to be either a power supply problem or a mtherboard problem.
Has any other users had this problem and what was the remedy?

Do you have a Network cable attached? Maybe Wake-On-LAN is enabled.
Or perhaps the LCD lid switch just needs a clean :p

Why is my computer powering up automatically after shut-down?

My Power Mac G4 has mysteriously started to power up in the middle of the night and I can't figure out why? I am on high speed cable hook up and don't recall changing strat up functions. Any advice?

Resetting PRAM used to be (and sometimes still is, by "old-timers") called 'zapping' the PRAM. In olden times, like back in Mac Plus days, it was necessary to remove the battery to do it. In more modern machines it can be done via the startup keyboard command key combination of Command-Option-P-R.
PRAM retains various settings used by the Mac during startup - what monitor settings to use, clock info (time and date references), what boot volume and OS to use, and several other things. Sometimes PRAM values can get contaminated, damaged, or confused - and the Mac does not behave like it should.
Resetting PRAM reverts the settings in PRAM to default (factory original) settings. Doing this can clear whatever data corruption there may be in PRAM, forces the Mac to review what hardware is available and other configuration items, and, depending on model may (sometimes temporarily) reset some user settings (like date and time) to default values.
This can often cure some issues related to booting or resulting from changes in hardware.

Mac mini restarts on its own after shut-down.

The Mac mini will restart by itself about 10 minutes after shut down. I turned off all the restart options in energy saver. Funning 10.4.8 with the latest firmware instalation.
Any suggestions how to stop this?

I have had this problem for a looooong time and I think I finally resolved it. Last weekend I was trying a demo of MacPilot 3 and found Elgato's EyeTV had two items in the Power > Events list. Apparently when you set EyeTV to start up the computer for it's schedule it restarts the computer randomly rather in a reasonable amount of time before the recording begins. Since there were two files, I think 1 was left over from previous EyeTV version and was starting up the computer even though I told EyeTV not to start the computer at a later date. Deleting both files seems to be the solution.

Losing Desktop Items/Documents after shutting down and restarting

Twice, over the last couple of months after shutting down and restarting my macbook, everything on my desktop gets deleted, and it seems all the settings go back to their original form?
Anyone have this problem?

Hi, I had this problem and it was due to setting file vault in the security settings. I removed having that set and then I had to go into system settings, Account and under Login Items, add back items such as mail and things that required passwords that were not coming up on my dock after each time I shut down.

Apple does not support 3rd party software. Again, post in Adobe's forums. Plenty of Mac users there who uses their products.

IE had unknown error and after shut down laptop screen is blank

IE popped up with a message that there was an error. No other explanation. After shutting down and rebooting, the laptop screen is black but has power.
No changes made to operating system before this occured.

I understand that when you power off your notebook it automatically restarts in 4 seconds.
You have tried several steps to try and resolve this but there is no change.
As it repeated the behavior with the hard drive removed, you know it is not an issue with Windows.
You have tried updating the bios and returning it to bios defaults but no change.

This does suggest you edit your registry which does have the potential to cause issues, so be very careful. I would also suggest backing up your registry before you attempt it, just in case.
Back up the registry from Windows.microsoft.com
If that has not helped, I would try removing the Cmos or RTC battery for 30 seconds and then replacing it.

Motorola DROID X Restarts Automatically After I Shutdown

My Motorola DROID X Now Restarts Automatically After I Shut It Down (50% of the time?). It worked great at first.
I have used soft & hard resets & this problem persists.
Is there a software fix for this?

Laptop battery drains after shut down

Hi, I have bought hp pavilion 15-no28se six months back,
Its working good, but one issue is contantly irritating me, it is due to its battery drainage after shut down overnight.It almost drains 8-10 percent withing 12 hours. Whereas, I properly shut down it and caliberated as well, but of no use. Although, battery status is OK, and I think battery is fine becasue once I took out battery from laptop for 24 hours, then inserted again and checked it and not a single percent dropped down.
I am so tense that why it is draining when battery works well and properly shut down?Please guide me on this.I am waiting..

To test, calibrate, and re-synchronize your battery you will need to first follow the steps in this document on Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8). Once this is completed, and the battery continues to drain, then you can move to re-install the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
I understand that this process can be a little overwhelming, but not to worry! I would gladly expand on the steps provided above!
To answer your first question: you are not uninstalling the software as you would from Programs and Features (like uninstalling software downloaded from a CD). Instead, you are removing small driver components removable from the Device Manager.
To get the Device Manager, please follow the steps below:
Step 1. Go to Device Manager:
a. Press the  and type "Device Manager"
b. Click the Device Manager tab on the top right-hand side.
c. The Device Manager should be open.
Step 2. Select Batteries:
a. Click the right-facing triangle to the left hand side of "batteries"
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
a. If you see any duplicates of the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery", please select them both.
Step 4. Click Uninstall
a. You might also see an option that says "disable." Please disregard this option, and click on Uninstall.
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
Step 6. Restart the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for one minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find and install the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
a. Press the  and type "Device Manager"
b. Click the Device Manager tab on the top right-hand side.
c. The Device Manager should be open.
Step 9. Select Batteries
a. Click the right-facing triangle to the left hand side of "batteries"
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there (there should only be one).
Step 11. Click "Update Driver Software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
a. If you do not see this parcel of software in the Device Manager, please skip this step. If you do, the same steps would include:
* Right-clicking this device driver in the Device Manager
* Click on "uninstall"
* Put a check in the box next to "remove the current driver" and pressing "ok"
* Restarting the computer
* Remove the battery for one minute, then re-insert it
* Return to the Device Manager
* Right-clicking the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller
* Click "update driver software"

IMac restarts instead of shutting down

Hello,
I have a 2009 iMac 24" running 10.6.2. When I select shutdown from the shutdown menu it asks if I want to shutdown and then after selecting yes it starts the shutdown process. After shutting down it immediately restarts. When selecting shutdown from the login screen, it shuts down correctly.
-I've zapped my PRAM
-I did a SMC reset
-I've unselected restart after power failure
-I have a wireless USB mouse connected
-I have Apple's wireless keyboard
Any thoughts?

If it does not happen in the new account (you should try it a few times to make sure), then the cause is usually one of two things, and there is probably not anything wrong with the overall system.
First is a background process that runs in your normal account. Check System Preferences Accounts pane +Login Items+ tab. Remove anything there that you no longer need to have running. Then, with what's left, remove one at a time and test to see if it makes a difference; make sure you note what you removed (and where it is located) so that you can put it back if it was not the cause.
Second are user preference settings. In this case, this is a bit harder to trouble-shoot, because I can't think of any particular user preference file that would make a Mac restart instead of shut down.
If the problem does not happen in a new account, and you can't determine the exact cause, one thing you could do is create a new user account for ongoing permanent use, and transfer your user data from your current account to the new account. Eventually, once everything is working fine, abandon your current account.
