Comcast addresses to Safari mail???

Can anybody tell me how to import a Comcast address book to Safari (3.04) mailbox? The export options on Comcast list several formats, but none of them seem to be recognised by the Safari import function.
As usual, many thanks for the help.
Bob

Thanks for replying.  I'm hoping to avoid typing the address in the address field when forwarding a message. Is there a process where I can scroll through my address book, select an address from it and have that address that I select be applied to the "to field" at the top of the message I am forwarding?  I am trying to replicate forwading messages in the same manner as I do with OUtlook on my computer.

  • Problem with Apple Mail and comcast addresses

Sometimes Apple Mail will not let me send to comcast.net addresses, including my own.  I get the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.comcast.net:[my e-mail address] All other e-mails sends and receives fine. I'm using 10.6.7. What to do?

Thanks, R.  Actually, in the current instance, I realized the message would not send simply because it was addressed to an invalid address - I corrected the address and it went out fine, but I wish the program would have told me that was the problem instead of sending me on a wild goose chase about possible server or account setting problems.
I'm still not sure whether this was the case the previous time I had the problem, a day or so, when I was sending a message to multiple addresses (25 or so). There is little way for me to know which of those addresses is or may be invalid.

  • How do I prevent Mail from opening when I click an email address in Safari?

My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari?  Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?

    Hmm.. probably not.
You want to open Mail. Then go into Preferences > General and you will see something similar to this:
In the area marked Default Mail reader click on the pull down and at the bottom of the list it will say Other. You can see if you can select Safari here and if that will open up Safari.
    Good luck.

  • Safari 1.3.1 upgrade hurts Safari, Mail, iCal & Address Book

I am running OS 10.3.9. I upgraded Safari to version 1.3.1 using Software update. Eversince I upgraded, Safari, Mail, iCal and Address Book do not work. Does anyone know a fix or is there a way I can reinstall these applications without losing all of my data?

Does anyone know the easiest way to transfer my account (mail, calendars, etc) from my old account to a fresh one whilst offering a possible elimination of the crashing issue I am experiencing?

copy (not move) the relevant data from the old account to some location that both accounts have access to like the folder /Users/Shared. then log into the new account and copy the stuff back to the new account.

  • Error message sending attachments using Comcast webmail and Safari

I'm using a G3 iMac, with 640MB memory (sorry, can't find the RAM free space), everything is working fine except that just last week, I all of a sudden cannot send attachements through my "comcast message center" webmail using Safari. I spent hours with Comcast, going through different procedures, with no good result. They are convinced it's an "apple problem" but of course I think it's them.
I consistently get an error message "appending message failed" . . . but it's odd because for awhile last week I could not receive or send ANY e-mails (with the same error message), attachments or not, and now it seems I can only send OR receive e-mails with NO attachments. And then this morning, I was able to send several attachments before it went back to the error message again (and I spent another two hours on the phone with Comcast). I opened an account with Mail and (using my Comcast address in a POP account) was able to send all the attachments I could not send through Comcast Message Center.
Hope I gave enough information. Please let me know if you think this is an "Apple problem"
    iMac - G3   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I just tried to upload a PDF attachment using Comcast's webmail and was successful. I'd say it's a problem on their end since it's saying "appending message failed." Obviously, they are either not receiving all of the file, or the server just kicks back some message.
I'd say use Mail.app for your webmail if at all possible as it's easier to use and faster to access!

  • Safari & Mail issues I am having after moving over to Safari from Mozilla

I am transitioning from Mozilla to Safari for mac and it is a very painful process. Nothing seems to work intuitively. Some issues I am having:
    In Mail
    1. When deleting the mail in my mail box, it always deletes from the bottom up and not the top down. I cannot seem to find a way to change this.
    2. Whenever I delete the mail I don't want, it greys out but doesn't leave the mailbox- even when I try to drag it to the trash, it still stays there.
    3. Each time I start the machine, the old greyed out mail duplicates itself.
    4. The mail program is always crashing (literally 5 times a day) - is it that I downloaded the beta 4 of safari?
    5. Is there an easy way to display the address book? It seems that I fuss and muss for a few minutes before it actually shows up. I am trying to upload new addresses in it and it is very difficult to open. When I click on the link on the header, a little address window comes up, but not the one for adding addresses.
    Safari:
    1. I am trying to sort my bookmarks that I imported from my mozilla program and safari doesn't allow me to show both my current bookmarks and the imported ones in the same window panes. So rather than seeing "the whole picture" of where I am clicking and dragging, I have to battle with watching a stream of bookmarks and sub bookmarks scroll by until I get to the file I want to add to. Very irritating
    2. Is there a way to set Time machine so it isn't always backing up (other than turning it off)? I don't need hourly backups, and would be happy with daily ones.
My transition from Mozilla was an ugly one, and I still have lots of pieces of Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Seamonkey still loaded in the profiles section of the HD. Could these errant pieces be part of the problems?
There are more issues and I will post them as I detect them. I would appreciate any help
    Rick

I also see that it seems to be moving all of the mail over from my gmail account.  I didn't mean to move everything out of gmail to this computer!  Now what do I do??

I add my comcast email to the mail on a iMac running Maverick. It downloads all my emails from there. How do i get my email to delete of the the server

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

  • AEX and Safari, Mail not loading

I have 3 computers running on my AEX network. 2 are fine, but the primary iMac 20" takes 20 to 30 seconds to load Mail and Safari when first opening. If I plug my cable modem directly into the iMac, all is normal. IE and Firefox load normally thru AEX also, it's only Safari and Mail that give me trouble.
I've tried to find a commomn thread, but am stumped. If the other non-Apple browsers were slow to load, I'd look at signal strength, router addresses, sofeware updates and the like. I've had this prob for months now. I'm thinking it's AEX-related as opposed to a Safari/Mail issue. I've looked at keychains, Internet Connect, Airport Admin. Safari is version 1.3.2, Mail is 1.3.11. Anyone?

It appears as if something is slowing down your
network. If a "802.11B" Client joins your network,
it slows down your entire network. If all of your
clients are 802.11G, enable 802.11G only in your AE.
    That may help.
Fairly noviceful here. How or where do I do this?

  • Comcast Address Book

I have tried---believe me, I have read everything I can!! I cannot import my address book from Comcast to Apple Mail. I lost all of my addresses in Apple Mail when my old computer crashed and burned
    Can anyone help????
    TIA
    job

Well, that's odd, because Address Book does support importing both CSV and LDIF files. Do you get an error message when you try this, and if so, what does it say exactly?
You can try converting an LDIF file to a vCard file and then drag & drop that vCard file onto Address Book and it should import that. There's an online tool for that, which I haven't tested, so be aware that it may not work for you, but you have nothing to lose by trying. It's here: http://www.iac.ethz.ch/staff/maeder/mailtool.php

  • Need Safari Mail Help

    More help needed.
I always keep my address book up to date and have to change an email address or two. HOWEVER, when I go to compose/send an email and I type in the person's name as the email recipient and Safari Mail gives me the choice of the old email address (which is now useless and annoying) and the new email address which is needed. How do I get rid of the old email address from popping up as a choice?
I have gone into Safari Mail Preferences-Composing and unchecked "Automatically Complete Address" then logged off as user. I have even "restart" Leopard. I then go and "recheck" "Automatically Complete Address" and still get the old email addresses as options EVEN THOUGH I have removed these email addresses from my address book. How must I correct this?

    Hi Lexonex,
I guess you're referring to the Mail application and not Safari (Safari is the web browser with a compass for it's icon in the Dock, Mail has a stamp icon).
If you do mean the Mail applications, go to Window menu (at the top of the screen) and select Previous Recipients. In there you will probably find the old addresses. Delete those and hopefully things will work as you expect them to.

  • Safari, mail and others don't save history or settings

    Hello,
I have an 11" Mac Book Air with OS X Lion, which I purchased some months ago. After using the computer for a couple of weeks, something started to go wrong with the .plist files. Suddenly Safari, Mail, ICal, and other programs stopped saving history and preferences. Some of the symptoms of these proles include.
Safari: browse history stopped saving after a given date. Nothing I browsed after that date is there when I reopen Safari.
Mail: I have mail set with all of my e-mail accounts, including POP and IMAP. If I try to change something in my preferences, it does as long as I have the program open, but if I log out and then back in, none of the changes I made remain.
ICal: non of my preferences are saved.
After experiencing these problems for a while, I decided to reinstall Lion. Everything went back to normal... but only for a couple of weeks, the problems are back once again.
Any tips on how to sort this problem out will be much appreciated.

If your address bar is black, then you are in Private Browsing mode. Turn it off. To do so, tap the Tabs icon to show your open tabs, then tap Private on the bottom left.

  • IMac freezing on Safari, Mail, itunes after sleeping

I've had a problem for the past 4 days with my iMac freezing mainly when on Safari, Mail, iTunes...
It happens most times after it sleeps, then I can't quite and have to force quite, then it won't restart or shut down
I have to force shut down... It will then reboot ok and work ok for so long then goes again mainly after sleeping.
When for example Safari fails, Firefox still works fine?!
I've gone into the disk utility and verified the permissions and checked the drive. all ok!
and I've reset the RAM and totally unplugged the iMac.
I've read on some post advising not to reinstall and it's a software issue and should wait for the next update?
Is anybody having the same problem?

  • Backup ical, address book, and mail automator action

It seems very odd to me that there are no automator actions to backup ical, address book and mail. I have looked around to no avail. Am I mistaken, do such actions exist?
I use super duper to back up my hardrive on an automatic schedule, but I would love to make a workflow that would backup my ical, address book databases and my email. I don't want to have to restore my entire had drive from my SuperDuper image if I lose only my ical database.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Jake

I'm guessing the reason might be that Apple want you to use their dotmac account for this purpose.
The only way around it is to backup the individual folders that are used by those apps. eg:
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Address Book
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Mail
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Safari
    Macintosh HD/Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/iCal
If needing to re-build, just drag and drop these folders into place.

  • Safari, mail and app store won't open (mac book pro, lion)

    hello,
my brother can't open safari, mail or the mac app store on his mac book pro running ios lion.
until yesterday he had no problems but today it doesn't work.
when he tries to open one of these programms they jump around at the dashboard infinitely.
his internet connection works, he can use skype and the itunes store without a problem.
what can he do to fix this?

You might want to re-post this in the MacBook Pro Discussions. PowerBooks (there's no such thing as a PowerBook Pro!) can't run OSX 10.6 or 10.7.
However while we're here, without any personal knowledge of this issue, I would suggest that if you haven't done it already the first thing to try would be to
    repair permissions.
