COMCAST Changed Outgoing Port #?

Does anyone know Comcast outgoing Port Number for Versamail?  It was 25 then 465 now neither work.
Receiving email is still ok with Port 995.
Had to make outgoing Port change on home computer's Outlook last year but it still works on 465 now.
No useful info at Comcast.
Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Palm Forums.
Try Outgoing Port 25 (still works for me)
Check Use Secure Connection
Check Use Authentication
If you are getting any kind of authentication errors, you might also try logging into Comcast's email web portal, changing your password there, then using the new password.  This happened to me a few months ago, when Comcast migrated to new mail servers and also apparently upgraded the security without telling anyone.  My old password didn't have the new minimum number of characters and the new servers were rejecting it from my wireless logins, even though it worked at home while connected to the network.
Good luck.

  • Need to change outgoing ports, etc (email)

I am trying to set up my email via a secure connection (.mil email). I need to know how to change the outgoing port etc that requires authentication...

In the settings area, in mail, where you are putting together the information for the mail account, after the host name, put in a colon, then the outgoing port number, i.e. SMTP.server.com:xxx, where the 3 x's are the port number. That should work, or if you have already entered the account, you can go to the advanced section and enter the port from there.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Where can I change outgoing ports for email accounts?

I'm grasping at straws here. My outgoing email just stopped working. It says the servers are offline, but the connection doctor shows ALL of them being just fine. I'm on the line with tech support now, and they can't see anything wrong. Just trying to think of everything I can.

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, click on the arrows beside the name of the SMTP -- is the box to use this SMTP only checked?
After clicking on the arrows, select Edit Server List -- under the first tab the server and name should be listed. Then if you click on the Advanced tab, you will see the Port selection mechanism. If you know the port it should always use, you may want to select Use Custom Port and enter that number, and PW, Username if required.

  • Comcast account - what Port number should I have ?

    Hello,
I have a big issue with my mail staying "online" when trying to scan for new mail. I have Comcast mail account and my Port number is set to "25". I know many of you who have Comcast have same issue but right now my mail keeps scanning (for over 15 min) but not connecting at all...
    Is my Port correct???
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I haven't tried that yet but at this time I've tried few different tips and sometimes I get connections and sometimes I don't. It's as if the email had a mind of its own... seriously. Sometimes I get exclamation points, sometimes spinning circles, and sometimes nothing (which is good). Every time I click on "Get Mail" I get different results. I know it's MAc and Comcast problem but I want things working like they did before... I'll try your tip of changing outgoing port number. But either way, outgoing port change should not help me because it's the "incoming" port that messes up. I can actually SEND an email to an account that shows it's offline - I just cannot receive it.

  • Palm Pre email problems since FIOS switched outgoing ports

My Pre is on Sprint but ever since FIOS sent the email that they were changing outgoing ports, my phone can no longer send emails, but it receives fine.  Just hoping someone has advice/answer...

Really appreciate your assistance! My hosting people are being no help at all. I'm very familiar with "edit server list" - have been there often. It is my hosting person who tells me their logs show that none of the various emails I failed to receive on the first sending - for which I expand the headings and forwarded to him - have ever reach their server and therefore something's going wrong "out there" and they're not responsible. He even just suggested I sign up with gmail for my email service since I've been so much trouble to him. I've had an email address on my own server for ten years now - [email protected] - and don't want to change it!
I corrected the terrible instructions I got from AppleCare and reversed my incoming and outgoing server settings to audaud.com for regular email and to mail.aracnet.com SMPT for my two personal email addresses I want to send thru Aracnet. (and am paying them to forward them to the audaud.com server). However, when I just tried to reply to an email I received to [email protected] I got a warning I never saw before: (Thought I could attach a screenshot of it but can't seem to) It says "cannot send the message using the server audaud.com." Yet a few minutes later I sent an email to several of the writers for my site and it was sent. The settings were the same!
My hosting people told me to use Port 26 for sending but they refuse to tell me which port to use for INCOMING mail (using POP). Maybe the port settings are fouling me up, but why do they cause problems only part of the time? I don't use SSL.
Doesn't everyone receive via their email client "all the emails that get to the server?" Again: any directions on deleting the non-working import of the Eudora Address Book and doing it again properly with Eudora Mailbox cleaner?

  • I am trying to set up my outlook 2007 account on i pad and the process sticks on verifying.  It would appear to be a problem with outgoing server and I have changed the port number but with no success.

I have just purchased an i pad 2 and am having trouble with the e-mail set up.  Set up with wi-fi, i-cloud etc has worked fine but the i pad is recognising my outlook 2007 account details but is not verifying it.  The trouble appears to be with the outgoing server and I have tried changing the port number, but to no avail!  Also reset the account settings for holding messages on the server...help!  As you can tell I'm not very techy and I'm desperate to get the bloody thing working as I'm going away on Tuesday! Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue and it was password case sensitive issue

  • My provider changed to pop3 port 995 incoming and port 465 outgoing. Now it no longer works. I went into the Thunderbird 28 beta and changed the ports

I have Thunderbird 28 beta. After changing the ports, I no longer receive mail and this is the error message going out:
    Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.3dcartstores.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
Passwords have not been changed and I have to login on the web

What are the exact instructions from your email provider?

  • Can't change my Port under preferences

    For some reason.
I have chosen my server for outgoing mail, but when I go to advanced to type in the appropriate Port #, the number that is there is shaded and I can't type there. I click the SSL checkbox on and off and the port number changes but incorrectly both times.
Is there a way I can control what port I wanna send my mail through?
    Thanks

You do not have to set up your mail again.
If you scroll down far enough in the screenshots it tells how to access
    the smtp server settings.
NOT on the advanced tab, but under the 'account information' tab.
On the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu (close to bottom )select Edit Server List.
Result: The SMTP Server Options window opens. This window should let you change
    the port smtp uses.
You are not trying to change the smtp port in the correct location if you are seeing the port number 143 was my point.

  • How to view and change SMTP port number in new account setup in "Mail" 10.6

When I try to set up and test a new email account addressing an SMTP server that seems to e using a nn-standard port number, how on earth can I even look at the port number assigned by default to a new account in Apple Mail 10.6 setup ?
I might have to trial and error different port numbers but when Mail tries to test the connection to the SMTP server after I enter its address, it just spins and hangs up. I suspect the reason is a wrong port number. How do I change that outgoing port number in Apple Mail ??
There seems to be no obvious way the program will let U do it or even let you view the port it assigns in apparent error.

there is no way to change the smtp port during the original account creation. you can usually wait Mail out if it's spinning its wheels at this point. I've had to wait about 15-20 minutes a few times. eventually Mail lets you through even if it fails to connect to the smtp server. then, once the account is created you can edit the smtp server and try a few different ports and settings. that's done in system preferences->accounts. click on teh smtp server at the bottom and select 'edit smtp server list". then in the popup click "advanced".

  • How do I check and modify the outgoing port number

Charter has changed their settings and I need to set the outgoing port to 465. How do I do that?

    '''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac Tools|Account Settings]'''
Scroll down the list of accounts. The last one is "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".
Select this, select your charter SMTP server, click on Edit.

  • Changing the port?

Is it possible to change the outgoing port for iChat?
yea, that's all I really want to know.
Help me oh gods of apple.

    Hi peter,
    Yep.
Open iChat > iChat menu > Preferences >Accounts
Click once on your account you want to change
Go to the Server settings tab
Make sure you are Logged out of AIM
Change the port (5190) to 443
This will change the log in porta and Text chatting as well.
Video and Audio and the ports used to get a chat going are not changable.

  • Changing email port

I have gotten a couple notices from Verizon about changing my email port for new security purposes. I have gone to Accounts, and changed my outgoing mail server (STTP) to outgoing.verizon.net. I then have gone into the Server Settings and changed the port number from 25 to their requested 587. It doesn't allow me to send email. I know this is a verizon question, but is anyone else having to make this change, and is it necessary with OS 10.4.11?
    Thanks

    Hi Maurice,
A number of ISP's having been changing their port forwarding numbers to control spam problems for them and their customers. My account is with AttYahoo and they recently changed their outgoing port number.
I can't recall off hand but check to make sure there isn't a "lock" icon that you need to tick once you have entered all the new settings and confirmed them.
The mail settings need to be "exact" to work, obviously, so go back and check any spelling typos, especially with your password. Double check what you have entered for your SMTP address against what Verizon requires it to be now.
Your question is slightly confusing as you mention if this is necessary with 10.4.11. Your specs show you are using 10.3. Is this two different machines and versions of the OS that you are discussing?
If all else fails, I would recommend calling Verizon tech support and just ask them if they will walk you through their required setup for the Mail preferences. Trust me, they are quite accustomed to users needing help with mail settings. It used to be that you couldn't get a tech support person that knew anything about Mac OS but now they have their Mail setup, for whatever OS version, in front of them and can just walk you through the settings and troubleshoot if it doesn't work after that.

  • Changing POP Port Numbers

My wife and I each has a verizon email account.
I recently got an email telling me to change port numbers for incoming and outgoing emails.  She did not.
    That leads to two questions:
    1.  Why hasn't she received the email?  Are only some verizon users affected now?  Is this being rolled out?
    2.  If I don't change the port numbers, will I eventually be unable to get email?  If so, when is the cut off?
    Thanks.
    -RS

The settings have worked for all Verizon email users (not Yahoo, etc) for a while.  They are just trying to stage the number of users that make the change at a time because a large number of users have had trouble making the changes correctly.  It is suspected that they may make the change mandatory sometime in the future.

  • How to change default port in iws 4.1 installed in Solaris 5.9

    Hi All,
I had installed iws 4.1 in solaris 5.9
Now , I want to change my default https port from 443 to 445 .
Can anybody , Please let me know the proceudre how to do it ?
    Thanks for help in advance.
    Regards
    James

Ya , Manish you are right IWS 4.1 is really old.
But My application has been developed in past that is using IWS4.1 .
Right now , we are not having budget to migrate it from IWS4.1 to IWS6.1.
And the pointer for changing the port from magnus.conf is also correct but
I need to make it default port.
That means If would not specify any port number out of two port request goes to default one.
Right now default port is 443
But I want it to be 445
    Thanks
