Comcast Issue Sending

I have a comcast account, and when i try to send, it says
"Cannot Send Mail
Check the account settings for the outgoing server "smtp.comcast.net"."
I went into mail (on my mac, because i can send mail on it) settings, and then compared them to the ones on the iPhone
they were identical.
I am on server port 587
what do i do?

I believe that Comcast uses port 465 for POP3 with SSL authentication, rather than port 587.
Follow these instructions from Comcast to set up an electronic mail account on your iPhone.

  • Issue sending picture messages

I have no issue sending or receiving pictures from other people with my S4; however, when I send pictures, I'm regularly told by who I was trying to send it to that it wouldn't come through or wasn't attached. On my end it looks like it when through, though. Some of my AT&T friends receive a message saying the message was deleted. I have the issue with all carriers, including Verizon, and with mulitple different phones. I've checked the Global/LTE mobile data issue and this problem happens when I'm on WiFi and when I'm not. Happens at least half the time. Sometimes, they get it if I resend it, but many times it's a lost cause. Really frustrating...I didn't have this issue with an iPhone, but it's making me want to switch back.

I'm using the original messaging app. I don't have issues using 3rd party applications.

  • Constant issues sending MMS.

My iphone 4 keeps having issues sending MMS. It'll try, the progress bar will get to where it's almost done, and just sits there for minutes at a time, sometimes even longer till it just fails. Sometimes the other person will get it most of the time not. I've had to have my iphone 4 replaced before for a different recurring issue, but both models did this. Before and after the iOS 5 update. I have MMS on, have 3-4 bars on 3g at all times. Verizon even says I'm in a good coverage area. Before my iphone when I had a droid, I never had this issue. None of the troubleshooting Verizon does helps at all. Sometimes I end up on the line with someone who doesn't even know what they're talking about when it comes to the iphone 4. So as far as help from my carrier, i'm screwed there. Anyone else have some advice or tips? I've had an iphone 4 since May and it's always done this even after replacing and updating.

Good morning and happy Saturday Sheri914,
If there is anything that I can empathize with, it's not being able to send and receive text messages. Texting is my favorite form of communication and I know how important it is in today's wireless world. You have my commitment to getting this frustrating issue resolved for you. May I ask have your tried the wonderful steps that twistdshade & brwnzeni provided. If you are getting a specific error message then please share so I can look it up for you. also, try erasing your old threaded text messages, reboot, and retest. Let me know the results just in case more assistance is needed.
    Thank you...

  • I am having issues sending and receiving group texts on my iphone 5c

I am having issues sending and receiving group texts on iphone 5c.  I may get texts only from the sender or a few of the recipients, but not all.   I spoken to Apple.  They are working on the problem but it has been almost two months + and the problem seems to be getting worse.  Any one have this issue?

ajspurr, sorry to hear that you're still having some troubles here, but we want to figure this out. If you have already cleared the application cache and data and it's still giving you an issue, we may want to reset the device. By resetting the device we can ensure there are no underlying software issues. If you have the device backed up you can take a look here to see how to reset the device http://vz.to/1ucTCmE. Give that a try and keep us posted.

  • Issue sending e-mails to certain domain

I'm having an issue sending e-mails to domain capitaliii.com from my Ironport.  I see the following message in the Ironport log.
"DNS Temporary Failure capitaliii.com MX - unable to reach nameserver on any valid IP"
When I issue a nslookup on the MX record from the Ironport, I get the below message.
Temporary query error:  "unable to reach nameserver on any valid IP" looking up A record for "capitaliii.com" to nameserver
    ns3.digipark.com
I can however do a successful a successful nslookup from my workstation.  See the results below.  Any ideas?  I've done
a flushdns on the Ironport to no avail.

    Hello Doug,
check if your firewall in front of the IronPort appliance allows TCP for DNS on port 53.  The query results I get are close to the 512 byte limit, where DNS switches from UDP to TCP:

  • Having issues sending mail through mac mail on my imac .Have 4 accounts

I am having issues sending emails through mac mail. Have 4 accounts and they are all having same issues
    Can receive mail ok
have tired rebuilding the mail box but no improvment.
i need to shut down system and restart to be able to send mail.

I tried something similar by adding a new mail account doing the apple id etc but it worked in that it would look for mail but no mail would come even though mail still goes to my phone I was loath to delete my original account just in case the new one did not work as well. So I guess I am a little stuck now.. I hope you can help me to sort it out.
    Thanks

  • Any Ideas on a Comcast Issue that Only Effects Firefox?

    Some background....
For the last few years, Comcast has offered a "Domain Helper" service for Comcast users that use Comcast's DNS servers. When enabled and a DNS lookup fails, instead of seeing the browser's "can't connect" message, the browser gets directed to [http://search3.comcast.com/?cat=dnsr&con=ds&url=ahkjfhakjsdhakjshd.com Comast's "Domain Helper" search].
Luckily, Comcast allows their users to opt-out (turn off) this service. I opted out in 2009 and haven't thought about it since... until yesterday.
Yesterday, I typo'd a web address (as I do daily) but, instead of the Firefox "Server Not Found" message with the "Try Again" button, I was sent to Comcast's Domain Helper.
The first thing that came to mind was that Comcast reset my settings so I logged in to my account but my Domain Helper setting was still set to disabled.
I then tried the same typo'd domain in Chrome. No Domain Helper, just the expected error message from the browser.
I then tried the same typo'd domain in Safari. No Domain Helper, just the expected error message from the browser.
I then tried the same typo'd domain in MSIE. No Domain Helper, just the expected error message from the browser.
I then tried my 2 laptops (same network, different OS's, same version of Firefox) and had the same results (Comcast's Domain Helper is only displayed when using Firefox).
Just to make sure, I overrode Firfox's User Agent string to see if that would change anything. It did not.
Confirming the issue is related to Comcast's DNS is easy since it stops when switching to OpenDNS or Google's DNS. But this just makes it more curious.
    So, Im wondering....
Any other Comcast users (I'm in Atlanta, GA) experiencing this?
How could this only be effecting one browser? Is it possible for a DNS Server to send back different responses based on browser?
Has anything changed with the way Firefox 8 handles domain resolution? I'm not sure this started with the update but it never happened with earlier versions of Firefox.
As you'd expect, Comcast's support is clueless and give the same useless suggestions they give whenever they're presented with a problem that doesn't appear on their sheet of scripted resolutions. Restart your router, clear your cookies and cache, restart you computer, reinstall Firefox. Bleh.
Anyway, I know some sharp people hang around here as well as some people that may be familar with how Firefox handles DNS lookups so I figured I post this here. Like I said, it's easy to fix on my end (change my DNS servers) but not knowing really bothers me.

I use Comcast in the Chicago area market and have a problem with the "Opt Out" stopping about once a year or so. It appears as being enabled at the Comcast Opt Out page, but the unresolved addresses are still going to the DNS "domain helper" service.
What works for me is to turn off the opt out preference, log off from that Comcast account, and close Firefox. When I restart Firefox, log in to Comcast, and then set the pref to "opt out" again - it works as intended and doesn't cause me a problem until it happens like 10 to 12 months later.
As far as why it seems to affect browsers in a different way, I have no idea. I do have Safari, Opera, and IE 8 installed, in addition to multiple versions of Firefox, but I don't use those other browsers enough to have seen a difference. I am usually opening pages from within Firefox in those other browsers to view the difference, ''or to print something that Firefox screws up in the Print Preview''.

  • Comcast Issues with Mountain Lion Mail Client (v.6)

I am having same issues receiving my e mail in Mail in my comcast account.  I did have google but deleted the e mail and even my entire google account to hopefully resolve problem.  Problem remains.  I have tried so many things and am waiting to hear from a tech.  Was on phone with Apple for hours on Sat. morning but no resolution yet.  I am wondering if it is an i cloud issue.
    <Edited by Host>

    Hi,
This thread was created by someone who had issues with their Google Mail not being fetched by the Mail app in Mountain Lion.
Their presumption was that it was the Mail App.
It turns out Google have had a problem and it not only effects Macs using Mountain Lion.
This Google Issue should in no way effect the fetching or sending of Mail via your ISP (Comcast) Login.
I don't see any info in your post that links your Comcast account to iCloud so it is difficult to follow your reasoning that iCloud is involved.
This means you have a different issue to the Original Poster.
Unfortunately it is not likely to get addressed here  (Broadly speaking the presumption is that a different question should have it's own thread)
It can be difficult to judge sometimes if you have a different issue or not.
I would suggest starting your own thread.

  • For those new to mail with issues sending and receiving mail

I was surprised that I did not see anyone referring to this amazing and invaluable tool, the Mail Setup Assistant:
    http://www.apple.com/support/macosx/mailassistant/
This tool get's me through troubleshooting sessions more than anything else. Most problems are due to settings when it comes to Mail. Half the time issues with sending emails is just due to SMTP settings, sometimes you do not need to have Authentication for outgoing mail. Sometimes your password is just incorrect. Use Mail Setup Assistant it is pretty **** accurate I use it on a daily basis.
Sometimes the settings are perfect and sometimes you just have to erase mail completely by doing:
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist pull.
~ refers to your home folder!
    Hope this helps!

It is a very good idea, however many of us do not live in the USA, so cannot yet take advantage of this tool.
    Pity!
