Comcast + TV Tuner

Quick question, hopefully someone can give me some advice...
So, Comcast recently showed up.. well, about two months ago, and hooked up a little cable box. I have a Hauppage WinTV HVR-2250 tuner card that I bought about 6 months ago. Is there anyway to get this card to properly work with the Comcast box? I spent $100+ on this bad puppy so I can DVR, so I'm hoping there is a way around this.
I've tried to get it to work with BeyondTV and WMC, to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions to get this to work? I'd hate to have spent $100 on this thing and only get to use it for a couple months...

Connect a coax splitter - one output to the cable box one to the HVR.
Note, however, that the HVR will only be able to receive unencrypted channels (typically cable re-feeds of over-the-air broadcast network TV - CBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, etc.) - For encrypted content you'll need to combine the cable box with the Hauppauge HD-PVR 1212.

I have a Lenovo Horizon II 27". How do I switch back and forth between the computer functionality and watching tv without pulling the hdmi plug in and out? I want to watch tv in a window on the device when the computer is running.

Through a roundabout method I have achieved what appears to be your ultimate goal of watching HD TV on an iMac. I purchased an El Gato EyeTV 250 Plus HD capable TV tuner (current model). I then ALSO obtained an additional HD TV cable tuner box from my cable provider Comcast. I hooked my incoming house Comcast coax cable into the back of the Comcast HD TV cable box, ran another short coax cable from the output of the Comcast cable box to the input of the El Gato EyeTV tuner, and I then ran the required USB 2.0 cable from the output of the El Gato TV tuner to a USB input on the iMac. (Whew!) You then need to set the El Gato TV tuner to cable channel "3", and use the Comcast HD tuner cable box Remote to control what HD channel you are watching. The TV audio is obtained from the usual iMac sound output that you use. It works Great! I have been watching my iMac TV shows for months now.
Giving credit where credit is due, it was the Comcast Cable TV technical support people on the phone who originally walked me thru the thinking of how to watch HD TV shows from Comcast on my iMac.

Motorola Tuner Swapping vs Comcast

I recently switched to FiOS from Comcast and have a question regarding swapping tuners while watching live TV. With Comcast, I could watch a program on Tuner A, pause it, swap to Tuner B, surf channels to my heart's content and then swap back to Tuner A and resume play from where I had paused. FiOS appears to swap tuners with every channel change. The Comcast functionality was nice when just wanting to jump around during a commercial on Tuner A (by swapping to Tuner B) but ensure nothing would be missed. Is this functionality available with the FiOS Motorola dual tumer DVR or am I stuck with really just jumping back and forth between 2 channels? Thanks.

The closest way to simulate that sort of functionality is to always return to your "primary" channel after looking briefly at an alternate one. Of course that requires a lot of discipline, to remember to hit "last" every time before typing in a new channel number, but there's no other way to do that.
Also, no matter what you do, a tuner will not remain "paused" on a live channel if you switch to another channel and then return. You'll have to rewind to get back to where you "departed" the program.

RF Tuner not working correctly in Pavilion DV6-1200

Having troubles tuning the computer to the tv signal. The signal is via a wall cable RF type, Comcast cable.The computer can not detect the source data, however when a normal tv is plugged into the same cable, it tunes into 35 channels. The tv tunes to the signal prior to June 12, 2009 (NTSC). There is no setup box being used. I have used windows media centre and HP media center to tune the computer in but no success yet. The tuner mode I thought that should work is Analog Cable NTSC, plus tried every other mode many times over. The strange thing about this whole matter I was connected to HP tech support for 4 HOURS on this matter! They could not give me any reason why this was happening!!!! The tv tuner does work with the supplied antenna using the Digital Antenna Mode. When I talked to HP tech support, their so called tv tuner experts, they could not tell me what the Analog Cable NTSC mode was used for! Regards, Ed

I tunes songs playing as a background in e-mails. How to? I dy,

Hi everybody,
I subscribe to i Tunes and I have tons of music stored in my i Pod. My e-mail server is Gmail(Primary) and Comcast(secondary). Here's my question: Is there a way to transfer a song off my i Tunes list and have it played as background music in my E-mail. Years ago when I was on Webtv we could do this. I think it would be pretty cool. If anyone comes up with the answer I will reward them with a thankful, congratulatory e-mail with Eric Burton's classic song "Sky Pilot" in the background. I guess that reveals how old I am , eh!

It is possible to listen to music play in the background while you are reading/composing email, but the same will not happen when you send others the email.
You can email mp3 files to others, but that does not make it magically play in the background when someone opens the emails.
This doesn't happen for several reasons:

Changing my Apple ID for Apple I-Tunes!

Somehow I changed my Apple I.D. to my Comcast email address. "I feel like an idiot, as I worked in Computers for many years as a VAR. Value Added Reseller, I sold service contracts to client base. But fortunately for me the Service Dept. all I/T employees got a bonus based upon how many Service Contracts I sold to clients. So if I dropped a cigarette into my keyboard or messed up my HP LaserJet. A new one would appear as if by magic!!! I am not an I/T person. But I am currently relearning Apple as my sister downloaded a Virus onto my HP TouchSmart Server. She took down my whole home network and I lost approximately 7000 photographs, which I am currently hopefully downloading from the Cloud. How do I reset my Apple I.D., not the Password the I.D.???
Also if anyone has any tips, I have Apple I-tunes, Apple TV, and I just bought the new Apple I-phone 6, and also the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. If anyone has any great tips please let me know.

What makes you think you changed your Apple ID? Where are you seeing the one that has the Comcast email address? Are you certain that you never set up an Apple ID with that email address?
The only place (and way) that you can change your Apple ID is via Manage your Apple ID: Apple - My Apple ID
You would need to sign in with your Apple ID and password, answer your Security Questions, and then EDIT the Apple ID to a new address. If you did not go to that site and do those steps, then you probably have two Apple IDs.

Tuner problems since digital conversion

I have a ZD8000 laptop with Window XP Media Center 2005 and an external HP dual tuner. Since the over the air conversion to digital in June I have been unable to tune to any single digit channel 1,2,3...9. All other channels work fine. I have Comcast Digital (Flint Michigan) with individual set top boxes for both tuners and didn't expect the conversion to impact me. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried reconfiguring Media Center and reloading the HP tuner drivers with no success. I really don't want to invest in any additional hardware. Any ideas?

MSI Digivox ATSC Tuner stick-won't scan QAM channels

I am using 2 digivox ATSC tuner sticks with the latest build of J River Media Center (QAM capable) as the host software and that setup works great to pull in my local OTA channels using one of the Digivox units connected to an attic antenna.
BUT, my second Digivox connected to Comcast will not scan any clear QAM channels no matter what I try. Comcast told me they use Standard frequency on their Clear QAM, but I have tried all frequencies (HRC, IRC, etc, etc) just in case. Ideas?

How can you get your data back on i tunes

Hi i am Justin,
I have i phone and i have i tunes here is my problom. last night i formatted my HP windows 7 computer and i backed up my pictures and backed up i tunes witch i thoght i did becasue i backed it up on my external 500 MB hard drive and with out making a folder and c oping i tunes i only backed up library and before the format i went to edit, preferences and adavaned in i tunes (sorry about the bad spelling) becasue apples's step by step i read and saw the pictures were to go and i thought i can back up i tunes that way. My phone has 333 songs all my pictures apps and contacts and there is no way to re copy from the phone back in to i tunes i do not use i cloud becasue (one i do not want to pay for more space) and 2 the free version tells me i do not have enough space to back it up so i am worried one sync i will lose all my info. these songs are from cd's i have and off the Internet before the courts stopped Napster and Lime Wire. Sos what should i do just unstalli tunes and leave my computer as a re charging stastion? or is there any secret way to get all my things back then this time i can make a folder and do it right in case the next time i have to re format my drive from a problems or need to what is the best case here?

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

Hi guys some help please. When I download the latest I tunes 9.1.1 is wants to install to drice "G" which I don't have I want it to download on "C". Any ideas?

Hey there,
One thing you should check is where your iTunes searches for your iTunes folder. Head to iTunes and then Preferences. When the window pops up, head over to the Advanced tab. Near the top of the tab, you will see where iTunes currently locates your Music folder. Click the Change button and then direct it to where the folder is located on your External drive. See if that helps.

I have been gaining access to I Tunes fine up to last Wednesday. I now cannot access my account on I tunes, I can surf the shop fine and look at it contents fine but as soon as I try to buy anything I can't log in to my account. I cannot even create a new account.
I'm in contact with apple via e mail but everything they suggest just isn't working. Does any one have any ideas of what I can try as I'm at a dead end now and I have credit on my account.

I tunes will not open - have read ALOT but still can't get it going

How much is Apple losong out to what appears to be a fairly common but complicated problem. Not sure if it all started the day I upgraded to i-tunes 9 or when I renewed my Norton Anti Virus. It was working for months even when I had Norton which i have since removed using the Norton Removal Tool. When I first click on it it tries to open and I get a message saying that my Quick Time software is outdated but BEFORE I can click on that another box opens over top that says "i-tunes has stopped working" "a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close he problem and notify you if a solution is found"
If i try again , nothing happens at all. When I go to processes I can see where it appears briefly maybe 2-3 seconds then disappears.
I have tried:
Making another user account and opening I-tunes
Removing my Norton anti virus
Uninstalling and re-installing i-tunes and quick time both together and separately....many many times
restoring previous version of i-tunes
I get the same message if i try to open just quicktime.
My i -tunes library itself will also not open.
Please tell me where to go from here
I am running a newer (3 months old) HP with Windows 7 64 bit

Any idea as to how it got this way? I am thinking of re-installing my Norton since it has worked well for me for the last few years and I an not exactly sure if that was the problem or if was a Windows 7 thing?
I reckon Norton and Windows 7 were innocent parties here. Some other application dumped a couple of boatloads of QuickTime componentry in your sysWOW64. (Older versions of codec packs, video converter software, other file converter software, and media players that offer the opportunity to use quicktime files "without installing QuickTime" are the usual culprits here, but some games might do this too.) That might go unnoticed so long as that componentry matches the existing version of QuickTime software that you have installed on the PC ... but things turn to custard when you have to update your QuickTime version, and the versions of the componentry in /sysWOW64/ no longer match your "QuickTime proper". (On 32-bit systems, the same sort of thing happens, with the difference being that the "foreign" QuickTime componentry would typically be lurking down in the system32 folder.)
So, we pretty much get cases of this sort of thing showing up constantly at the forums, with a big pulse in reports happening after any QuickTime version update. (It produces a significant proportion of the "iTunes has encountered a problem" and "iTunes has stopped working" messages that we get reported here.) You were really unlucky in that you got a rarer version of the possible error messages ... so there's not as much relevant troubleshooting advice available on the web, which makes researching what could possibly be going wrong for you considerably harder than it is for folk with the more common versions of the error messages.

I have 3 iTunes accounts which I had set up each time I bought a device not realising they all linked up (blonde!!). Can I consolidate them into one account without losing tunes,pics etc??
